Anna M. Lobdell
January 22, 1998
Mrs. Anna M. Lobdell, 77, of County Route 113, Northville, died Thursday at her home.
A lifelong area resident, Mrs. Lobdell was a 1938 graduate of Northville Central School.
She was a homemaker.
She married Lewis Lobdell on Feb. 8, 1951.
Survivors include a stepson, David Snyder of Queensbury; and two brothers, Douglas Parker of Northville and Donald Parker of Amsterdam.
Funeral services will be private.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Northville Library or the Northville United Methodist Church.
Arrangements are by the Northville Funeral Home.

Edna Kindt
January 22, 1998
Mrs. Edna Zeh Kindt, 86, of Cedar Street, Schenectady, died Thursday at St. Clare's Hospital.
Born in Sloansville, Mrs. Kindt was a sales clerk at Hurley's Card Shop for 10 years, at Ace Photo for 10 years and at the former Passmore's Card Shop for five years.
She was a member and former president of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 357 Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the bingo committee. Mrs. Kindt was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Lodge 271, George Hope and White Shrine, both in Schenectady.
Mrs. Kindt was a Lutheran.
Her husband, Harry J. Kindt, died in 1967.
Survivors include her companion, William Schorpp of Schenectady; a daughter, Joan A. Geier of Rotterdam; a son, Harry "Bud" Kindt of Esperance; a brother, Philip Zeh of Schoharie; a sister, Helen Leaman of Sprakers; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Feeley-Nuzback Funeral Home, 1 Mohawk Ave., Scotia. Spring burial will be in Sloansville.
Calling hours will be from 3 until the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Richard Haviland
January 21, 1998
Richard Sands Haviland, 79, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Glens Falls, died Wednesday at a local hospital.
Born March 3, 1918, in Highland, Mr. Haviland was a graduate of Colgate University.
At one time, he worked in recreational development.
Mr. Haviland was a member of the Glens Falls Country Club and the Masons. He also was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Glens Falls.
His first wife, Mary Dickson Graves Haviland, whom he married in 1940, died in 1976.
He then married Olive "Tippy" Kilpatrick Ringwood Haviland on Jan. 14, 1978.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Dianne H. Bone of Virginia Beach, Va., and Carolyn H. Glendening of Florida; two sons, Dr. Dickson G. Haviland of Amsterdam and R. Grant Haviland of Florida; two step-daughters, Mary R. Minkin of Woodland Hills, Calif., and Julia Ringwood of Burbank, Calif.; three step-sons, Paul Ringwood of Carlsbad, Calif., Michael Ringwood of Casco, Maine and David Ringwood of Burbank; 17 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church of Glens Falls. Burial will be on Monday in Pine View Cemetery, Queensbury.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Sullivan-Minehan & Potter Funeral Home, Bay Road, Queensbury.

Harry C. Gould
January 21, 1998
Harry C. Gould, 81, of Saratoga Avenue, Broadalbin, died Wednesday at home.
Born Nov. 28, 1916, in Yonkers, he was the son of Harry C. and Elizabeth M. Colbourne Gould. He resided in Yonkers until moving to Broadalbin in 1956. Mr. Gould was a graduate of the High School of Commerce in Yonkers.
From 1944 to 1946, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Gould was a production manager with Mohasco Industries in Amsterdam.
He was a member of the Broadalbin American Legion Post 337 and past president of the Broadalbin Rotary Club. He also was past master of Hastings Rising Star Masonic Lodge 450 of Tarrytown.
His wife, Margaret J. Johnston, whom he married July 31, 1943, died Oct. 12, 1992.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia A. Steenburgh and Mary-Beth Patrick, both of Albany; a sister, Grace Kosky of Yonkers; a niece; and a nephew.
There will be no calling hours.
A private service will take place at the convenience of the family of Friday at Jeffords Chapel, 85 W. Main St., Broadalbin, with the Rev. Herbert Johnson, officiating. Spring burial will be at the Broadalbin-Mayfield Rural Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 23 Computer Drive East, Albany, 12205 or the James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society, P.O. Box 688, Gloversville, 12078.

Melvin L. Gardinier
January 21, 1998
Mr. Melvin L. Gardinier, 74, of Sanders Street, St. Johnsville, died Wednesday at the Greenery Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Hyannis, Mass.
Born April 4, 1923, in Amsterdam, he was the son of Lloyd Gardinier and Pearl Colson. He lived in St. Johnsville for 13 years, before that in lived Fort Plain and Dolgeville. He was educated in Fort Plain.
Mr. Gardinier was employed at Daniel Green Co., Dolgeville, for many years and then at the former Montgomery County Manor in the maintenance department for many years.
He married Ruth Phillips Gardinier on Jan. 14, 1961.
In addition to his wife, survivors include four sons, Brett and Cody Gardinier, both of St. Johnsville, Kurt C. Gardinier of Nelliston and Kurt D. Gardinier of Tribes Hill; a daughter, Starr Hodge of Camarillo, Calif.; two grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be private at the Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center St., Fort Plain, with the Rev. Kenneth Dingman officiating. Spring burial will be in Fort Plain Cemetery.
There will be calling hours.

Margaret T. Gambardella
January 23, 1998
Mrs. Margaret T. Gambardella, 91, formerly of Division Street and the Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility, Amsterdam, died this morning at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital.
Arrangements, by the Riley Mortuary Inc., 110 Division St., Amsterdam, are incomplete and will be announced.

Sybil C. Fonda
Due to inclement weather, the graveside service and burial for Sybil C. Fonda of Plymouth Meeting, Pa., formerly of Fonda, scheduled for Jan. 24, has been postponed.
For revised arrangements, please call the Evergreen Cemetery at 853-3995.

Douglas P. Stewart
January 21, 1998
Douglas P. Stewart, 71, of North Perry Street, Johnstown, died Wednesday at home.
Born in Gloversville, Mr. Stewart was a 1945 graduate of Gloversville High School.
During the Korean War, he served with the U.S. Army.
For 28 years, Mr. Stewart was a machinist for the General Electric Co., retiring in 1988.
He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church.
Mr. Stewart was also a member of the Johnstown Moose Lodge, the American Association of Retired Persons, and a lifelong member of Union Local 301 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Survivors include a son, Michael D. Stewart of Johnstown; a daughter, Lianne Ringer of Gloversville; and three grandsons.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, Main and Melcher streets. Spring burial will be in Johnstown Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 this afternoon and 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to charity.

Alfred Smith
January 22, 1998
Alfred V. Smith of Steele Avenue, Gloversville, died Thursday at home after a long illness.
A lifelong area resident, Mr. Smith was a graduate of Gloversville High School.
A sergeant with the Air Force and a member of the 705th Bomb Squadron, 446th Bomber Group, he flew on 35 missions in Europe. Mr. Smith was the recipient of the Conspicuous Service Cross, European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon with three Bronze Stars, the Overseas Service Air Medal with five Bronze Stars, the Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Upon his return to the states, Mr. Smith served as aerial gunner and instructor with the Air Force's Armored Tank Corps in Fort Knox, Ky.
For 41 years, he was a serviceman for the Niagara Mohawk Power Corp., retiring in 1988.
Mr. Smith was a communicant of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church.
He married Eleanor J. Washburn Smith on Dec. 3, 1943.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Richard C. Smith of Gloversville; a daughter, Carol L. Draffen of Muskegon, Mich.; his mother, Gabrielle Marcaise Smith of Gloversville; a brother, Frederick C. Smith of Gloversville; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A prayer service was conducted at 11 this morning at the John W. Finocan Funeral Home, 13 Prospect Ave., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Spring burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
Calling hours were conducted from 9 to 11 this morning at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice.

Odily Dormond
January 22, 1998
Odily Dormond, 76, of Alajuela, Costa Rica, a former Amsterdam resident, died Thursday evening at the Mexico Hospital in Alajuela, after a brief illness.
Born Aug. 12, 1921, in Alajuela, she was the daughter of Raquel Ocampo and Maria Cristina Ulloa, she lived in Amsterdam for 10 years and was employed at Fownes Gloves & Adirondack Knitting Mills, before returning to Alajuela in 1978.
She was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam and the Iglesia de Conception del LLano in Alajuela.
Her husband, Ernesto Dormond Sr., died Oct. 25, 1990.
Survivors include three sons, Gilbert and Ernesto Dormond, both of Amsterdam, and Wilfredo Dormond of Alajuela; a daughter, Jeanette Dormond Aguero of Amsterdam; a sister, Betty Ulloa of Costa Rica; 14 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son, Luis Emilio Dormond on June 26, 1996.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Sunday at the Iglesia de Conception del LLano in Alajuela, with burial in the Cemeterio Generale.
A Memorial Mass will be conducted at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam at a time to be announced.
Local arrangements are by the Rossi Funeral Home, 11 Mohawk Plac

Gertrude Runninger
January 22, 1998
Mrs. Gertrude Hanson Runninger, 72, of Stearns Road, Floyd, died Thursday at Faxton Hospital in Utica as the result of cancer.
Born in Worcester, Mass., Mrs. Runninger lived in Floyd since 1951.
She was a member of the Floyd United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Runninger was also a member of the Floyd Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, the Red Hook Home Bureau and the Floyd Craft Club.
Her husband, John E. Runninger, died in 1993.
Survivors include three daughters, Connie Martin of East Glenville, Jane Cole of Allen, Texas, and Carol Runninger of Whitesboro; a son, Kenneth Runninger of Remsen; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Strong & Burns Funeral Home, 401-403 N. George St., Rome. Burial will be in Townsend Cemetery, Stittville.
Calling hours will be from 1 to 4 Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Floyd Volunteer Fire Department or the American Cancer Society.
