Frederick Sutter
February 2, 1999
Frederick C. Sutter II, 69, of Elm Lake Road, Speculator, died Tuesday at home after a long illness.
Born in Detroit, Mr. Sutter was a graduate of Johns Hopkins University. He lived in New Paltz before moving to Speculator in 1990.
Mr. Sutter was a veteran of the Korean war, serving in the Marine Corps.
He was employed as a corrections officer in Johnstown, retiring in 1993.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Speculator, the Lions Club in New Paltz, and the Boy Scouts of America.
Mr. Sutter was predeceased by his first wife, Jennette Hill Sutter, in 1979.
He married Floral Evans Sutter Jan. 17, 1982.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Frederick C. Sutter III of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two stepsons, Richard Dickerson of Camp Hill, Pa., and Sherman Dickerson of New Paltz; two daughters, Lisa C. Sutter of Alvin, Texas, and Martha Trainor of Marlboro; a brother, Samuel Sutter of Mississippi; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service was scheduled for 1 p.m. today at Grace United Methodist Church, Speculator.
Spring burial will be in New Paltz.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville or Gospel Volunteers, Camp of the Woods, Speculator.
Arrangements are by the Northville Funeral Home.

Martin Wadsworth
February 2, 1999
Martin D. Wadsworth, 44, of Chestnut Street, Johnstown, died Tuesday after being stricken at home.
Born Sept. 2, 1954, in Amsterdam, he was the son of Milton S. and Ethel Oczko Wadsworth. Mr. Wadsworth was a lifelong area resident, graduating from Johnstown High School.
He was a resident manager at the Lexington Center from 1976 to 1993. He subsequently worked as a self-employed construction contractor.
Survivors include a son, Derek Wadsworth of Gloversville; a daughter Krista Wadsworth of Gloversville; four brothers, Stephen Wadsworth of West Swanzey, N.H., William M. Wadsworth of Clifton Park, Paul D. Wadsworth of Winchester, Va., and Patrick J. Wadsworth of Lenore, N.C.; and his companion, Penny Miller of Johnstown.
The funeral is 8 p.m. Friday at the Ehle Funeral Home, 15 N. William St., Johnstown.
Cremation will be in Leatherstocking Crematory, Cherry Valley.
Calling hours begin at 6 p.m. Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Concetta DeLorenzo
February 3, 1999
Concetta Cannizzaro DeLorenzo, 80, of Snake Hill Road, Scotia, died Wednesday in Ellis Hospital, Schenectady, after a brief illness.
Born Feb. 18, 1918, in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of Frank and Caroline Cannizzaro. She was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School, moved to Schenectady in 1953 and to Scotia in 1960.
Together with her husband Rocco, they ran the Maybrook I.G.A. in Scotia from 1964 until 1977 when they were forced into closing.
Mrs. DeLorenzo was a communicant of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Glenville and a member of the Senior Citizens in Scotia-Glenville.
She was married to Rocco DeLorenzo. He died in 1984.
Survivors include two sons, Rocco DeLorenzo of Clifton Park and Ronald DeLorenzo of Glenville; two daughters, Madeline Fretto of Glenville and Shirley A. Jobman of Galway; two brothers, Sam Cannizzaro of Amsterdam and Dominick Cannizzaro of Brooklyn; a sister, Lena Believe of Amsterdam; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Road, East Glenville.
Burial will take place in Sts. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery, Duanesburg Road, Rotterdam.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Glenville Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Immaculate Conception.
Arrangements are by the Glenville Funeral Home.

William Fura
February 18, 1999
William J. Fura, Jr., 59, of Clizbe Avenue, Amsterdam, died Thursday at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany, following a short illness.
Born June 28, 1939, in Amsterdam, he was the son of William J. and Helen Hincman Fura Sr. He was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School and was a lifelong area resident.
He was employed by Ward Products Co. in Amsterdam for several years. Later, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Schenectady before retiring in 1992.
Mr. Fura was a member of St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Reid Hill Fish and Game Club.
He married Patricia Olbie June 2, 1962.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, David William Fura of Lexington Park, Md.; a daughter, Jean Marie Fura of Amsterdam; a grandson; aunts, uncles, nieces and cousins.
The funeral is 9 a.m. Monday at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church St., with the Rev. Stanley Swierzowski officiating.
Interment is in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the St. Casimir's Church Memorial Fund.

William Lavigne
February 13, 1999
William T. Lavigne, 25, who served in the U.S. Army at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash., died Saturday in Tacoma.
Born May 23, 1973, in Gloversville, he was the son of Paul J. and Marilyn Lavigne. Mr. Lavigne was valedictorian of Johnstown High School Class of 1991 and attended the University of Rochester.
At the time of his death, he was a medical lab technician at Madigan Army Medical Center at Fort Lewis.
Survivors include his mother, of Johnstown; two brothers, Bruce Lavigne of Chelmsford, Mass., and Michael Lavigne of Minneapolis; two sisters, Patricia Lavigne of Johnstown and Susan Lavigne of Brookline, Mass.; and his paternal grandmother, Frances G. Lavigne of Johnstown.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Church, Glebe Street.
Spring burial is in Johnstown Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Johnstown School District Nature Trail, c/o Paul Russo, 302 Glebe St., Johnstown 12095.
Arrangements are by the A.G. Cole Funeral Home.

Elvira M. Younes
February 17, 1999
Elvira M. Younes, 68, of Schenectady, died Wednesday at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady.
A lifelong Schenectady resident, Mrs. Younes worked in the business office of the state Department of Mental Health in Schenectady for more than 10 years, retiring in 1995. For several years, she worked for the General Electric Co.
Mrs. Younes was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church.
She married Elwin Younes Feb. 27, 1954.
In addition to her husband, survivors include five sons, Albert, Jeffery, Jamie and Ronald Younes, and Richard Younes D'Alonzo, all of Schenectady; four daughters, Laurie and Nancy Younes, both of Schenectady, Sallie Torres of Clifton Park, and Marlene Lasher of Sprakers; a brother, Rudolph D'Alonzo of Atlanta; a sister, Phyllis D'Alonzo of Schenectady; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 8:15 a.m. Monday at the Bond Funeral Home, Broadway and Guilderland Avenue, followed at 9 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church.
Burial is in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.

Gertrude Young
February 17, 1999
Gertrude K. Young, 78, of Mill Street, Gloversville, died Wednesday at Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home after a long illness.
Born Aug. 30, 1920, in Gloversville, she was the daughter of Andrew and Irene Stack. Mrs. Young was a lifelong area resident.
She was a glove examiner at the Grandoe Co. before retiring many years ago.
Mrs. Young was a communicant of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church and the former St. Mary's Church.
She married William Young March 16, 1945.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Susan Rose of Kingston; three brothers, Harry and Richard Stack, both of Gloversville, and William Stack of Ballston Spa; a half-sister, Margaret Shanahan of Glovers-ville; three granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 9 a.m. Saturday at the Amico Funeral Home, 150 S. Main St., followed at 9:30 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church.
Spring burial is in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Dr. Paul Schlansker
February 18, 1999
Dr. Paul G. Schlansker, 54, of Old Piseco Road, Lake Peasant, died Thursday at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady, after a short illness.
Born in Schenectady, Dr. Schlansker was a graduate of Niskayuna High School, Norwich University, and the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He served his residency in general dentistry at the University of Vermont Medical Center.
For many years, Dr. Schlansker maintained a private dental practice in Schenectady, and for the past several years in Piseco.
He was a former instructor in the dental residence program at St. Clare's Hospital and a member of the Professional Conduct Review Committee of the Fourth District Dental Society.
In 1988, Dr. Schlansker was instrumental in developing Community Dental Health Services to meet the dental needs of people with disabilities, the elderly, people residing in health care facilities, or in institutions and correctional facilities.
He was a member of Delta Sigma Delta Dental fraternity; active with the 4-H in Piseco; a member of the volunteer fire department in Piseco; and a member and past president of the Lake Pleasant-Sacandaga Association.
Dr. Schlansker was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Mary Kiewicz Schlansker; a son, William Schlansker of Lake Pleasant; a daughter, Hana Schlansker of Lake Pleasant; his parents, Dr. William and Janet Hughes Schlansker of Schenectady; three brothers, Dr. William C. Schlansker of Anchorage, Alaska, James R. Schlansker of Schenectady, and Richard J. Schlansker of Amsterdam; and a sister, Joan Wallis of Lyons.
The Eucharist of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, The Plaza.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to Town of Arietta Youth Recreation Fund, Piseco 12139.
Arrangements are by the Jones Funeral Home.

Agnes Benson
February 18, 1999
Agnes H. Benson, 91, formerly of Second Street, Amsterdam, died Thursday at Montgomery Meadows where she had been a resident.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam.

Anna Cohen
February 23, 1999
Anna F. Cohen, 76, of Gloversville, died Tuesday at Nathan Littauer Nursing Home.
Born Nov. 2, 1922, she was the daughter of Daniel S. and Florence Lasher Rhodes. She was educated in Gloversville and was a lifelong area resident.
She was a glove maker for several area businesses.
Mrs. Cohen married Alfred J. Cohen May 8, 1948. He died in 1985.
Survivors include a sister, Doris Squillace of Gloversville.
The funeral is 12:30 p.m. Friday at the Hollenbeck Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville.
Spring burial will be in Union Mill Cemetery, Broadalbin.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 73 N. Main Street, Gloversville 12078.
