Lucia Vila Malenowski
November 4, 2002
Lucia Vila Malenowski 77, of the Roosevelt Apts., Wall Street passed away Monday afternoon at the Childs Nursing Home after a brief illness.
Born in Amsterdam September 11, 1925 a daughter of Jose and Carmen Rodriguez Vila, she was a 1943 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. She and her husband moved to New Jersey in 1956 where she worked for Westinghouse until they returned to Amsterdam in 1967.
She was of the Roman Catholic Faith.
Albin Malenowski, whom she married on April 3, 1948, predeceased her on June 13, 1971.
Surviving are her sons: Mark Malenowski of Albany and David Malenowski of New Hartford; two grandsons: Stephen and Andrew Malenowski and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services are Friday at 11:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, Inc., 171 Guy Park Avenue with the Very Rev. James J. Gulley officiating.
Interment is in St. Mary's Cemetery. A calling hour will begin at 10:00 am prior to the service. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Loudonville 12211.

Richard C. Farhart
October 30, 2002
Richard C. Farhart formerly of Amsterdam and a resident of Meco-Gloversville died at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady after a long illness.
Survivors include his wife Joyce Manzer Farhart; his daughter, Joan Bull and husband Larry; his stepson, Ricky Manzer and wife Judy; his stepdaughter Cindy Ward and husband Earl; grandchildren, Richard Bull, Debra Gurney, Cheryl Banta, Linda Dumblewski; five great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.

Goldie Czech
November 6, 2002
Goldie Czech, 91, of Elizabeth Street, Amsterdam, passed away early Wednesday morning at St.Mary's Hospital.
Born in Vermont on February 10, 1911 a daughter of Arthur C. and Dora Harlow Litchfield. She attended Vermont Schools and later settled to this area.
She was employed for a time at the former Bigelow-Sanford Carpet Mills in Amsterdam. She also worked as a nurses aide for 13 years at the Mount Loretto Nursing Home before retiring.
Mrs. Czech was a homemaker and a private duty nurse.
She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam and a former member of the church's Rosary Society.
She married Joseph W. Czech Sr. on April 21, 1928. He passed away on April 6, 1998.
Survivors include one son, Joseph W. Czech Jr. and his wife, Isabel of Amsterdam; a daughter, Bernice Hausman of Amsterdam; three brothers, Raymond Litchfield of Broadalbin, Leonard Litchfield of Hagaman and Irving Litchfield of Amsterdam; 13 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and many great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
She was predeceased by one daughter, Lucille Savoie and three sisters, Carrie Osowicki, Nelli Nardo and most recently Rosemond Aldi.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 9:00 a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam.
Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Amsterdam.
The family will receive relatives and friends today from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made in care of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Funeral Home, Inc., 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010.

Anita M. Iannotti
November 13, 2002
Mrs. Anita M. Iannotti, 78, of Collins Street, Amsterdam died Wednesday at St. Mary's Hospital.
Born on May 27, 1924 in the Village of Fort Edward, she was the daughter of John and Joanna Bonitatibus Marine.
Graduating in 1941 from Fort Edward High School, she went on to graduate from St. Mary's School of Nursing in 1948.
She was employed as a Registered Nurse at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam for many years until retiring in 1989, where she held the position of head nurse of the nursery department.
Mrs. Iannotti was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, Amsterdam and was a past president and member of its Christian Women's Society. She was also a member of the Mount Carmel Seniors, former member of the choir at the church and past member of the Columbiettes.
Mrs. Iannotti loved playing cards, bingo and enjoyed traveling. She also played the piano and wrote her own music.
She was predeceased on November 18, 1984 by her husband Herman J. Iannotti whom she married on June 26, 1949. She was also predeceased by her brother Herman Marine in 1989.
Survivors include a son, John E. Iannotti of S. Glens Falls; a daughter Joanna Leonard of Amsterdam; a brother John Marine of Queensbury; two sisters Mary Josephine Delduchetto of Fayetteville and Jean Koehler of Canasota, NY; two grandchildren, Jason and Jennifer Leonard; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church. Burial will take place in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Amsterdam.
Calling hours are Friday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern New York.

Ramon Rivera Caraballo
November 13, 2002
Ramon Rivera Caraballo, 81, of Elizabeth Street, passed away Wednesday afternoon at St. Mary's Hospital after a long illness.
He was born in Yauco, Quebradas, Puerto Rico on December 16, 1920, a son of Juan Sinforosa and Rosario Caraballo Rivera, he came to Amsterdam in 1952 and lived here since.
He was employed for over thirty years as a cutter for Amsterdam Glove Co. until retiring.
During Word War II, Ramon served with the US Army as a private first class soldier. He was awarded the American Theater Service Medal and an Overseas Bar.
He was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Spanish American Club.
On July 21, 1946 he married the former Adelaida Albarron who survives him.
In addition to his beloved wife, his loving family includes his daughters, Norma Grevely and Prida Rivera both of Amsterdam, and Mariam Venegas of Tampa, Fla.; a brother, Pedro Rivera of Amsterdam; a sister, Maria Rodriquez of California; seven grandchildren, Luis Grevely Jr., Luis Rivera, Lissette Grevely, Joseph Rivera, Daniel Grevely, Michele Nunez and Alex Venegas; three great grandsons, Javier Grevely, Armando Luis Rivera and Ricarlo-Luis David Rivera; nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services are Saturday at 8:15 a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Church. Father Lawrence J. Decker, celebrant.
Interment is in St. Michael's Cemetery with military honors.
Calling hours are Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Disease and Related Disorders Assoc. or the American Diabetes Assoc.

Wilma M. Bettinger
November 12, 2002
Wilma M. Bettinger, 79, of Northampton Road, passed away Tuesday morning at her residence.
Born in Auclaire, WI, on August 23, 1923, she was the daughter of William and Mary Thomas Marshall.
Mrs. Bettinger received her education locally at St. Joseph's School and Wilbur H. Lynch Senior High School from which she graduated in 1941. After graduating from Amsterdam City Hospital of Nursing, she was employed by Amsterdam Memorial Hospital as maternity supervisor until retiring in 1975.
Mrs. Bettinger was a parishioner of the former St. Joseph's Church, served on the board of directors of the Sarah Jane Sanford Home, was a member of the Century Club and a volunteer with the Walter Elwood Museum, all of Amsterdam.
Mrs. Bettinger is survived by her husband, L. "Jack" Bettinger to whom she was married on November 15, 1947; her daughters, Mara Radell and her husband, Howard of Venice, FL; and Lisa Soto of Jupiter, FL; two grandchildren, Austin Soto and Jana Soto, both of Jupiter, FL; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Bettinger was predeceased by her sister, Mary Woodhead.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 9:15 at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY.
Interment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.
Friends are invited to call Friday evening from 6 to 8 at the mortuary.
Memorial gifts in Mrs. Bettinger's name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211, or to a charity of ones choice.

Daniel J. Fryc
November 12, 2002
Daniel J. Fryc of the South Nine Mile Road, Allegany, died Tuesday November 12, 2002 at his residence.
Born in Amsterdam, on March 19, 1947 he was a son of Victor and Eleanor Saniewski Fryc.
Mr. Fryc was a disabled Vietnam Veteran.
In addition to his parents of Gloversville, NY he is survived by a son Lyle J. Fryc of Saratoga, NY; a brother Timothy (Victoria) Fryc of Amsterdam and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
There will be no visitations.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Saratoga National Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 West State Road, Olean.

Margaret D. Conroy
November 13, 2002
Margaret D. Mileski Conroy, 77, died Wednesday, November 13, 2002 at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany.
Born and educated in Amsterdam, she was daughter of the late Fabian and Catherine Bednarczyk Mileski. Mrs. Conroy worked as an admitting clerk at St. Peter's Hospital for many years. She was a longtime communicant of St. James Church.
Wife of the late James A. Conroy; mother of Christine Pufpaff of Loudonville, James Conroy of Albany, Terrence Conroy of Scotia and Kevin Conroy of Albany; nana of Mark and Abigail Pufpaff, Justin Conroy and Kyle Conroy; sister of Theresa Cunningham of Colonie, Lillian Cheatham of Arizona, Marie Price of Scotia, Leonard Mileski of Georgia, George Mileski of Amsterdam and the late Robert Mileski; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday in St. James Church at 10:30 am.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. on Friday from 4-8 pm. Burial will follow the Mass in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont. Those who wish may send memorial contributions to St. Peter's Hospital Foundation, 315 So. Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208.

Ann Marie B. Leonetti
October 18, 2002
Ann Marie B. Leonetti, wife of the late Christopher D. Leonetti. Mother of Christopher Leonetti, Michael Leonetti and Kathleen Gawlak all of Amsterdam, NY, Harry Leonetti of Philadelphia, PA, Jean Marie West of Collingdale, PA., and Ann Marie Leonetti of Glenolden, PA. Thirteen grandchildren, one great grandchild, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass which will be celebrated Saturday morning at 11:15 o'clock at St. Mary's Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY.
Memorial gifts in Mrs. Leonetti's name may be made to St. Mary's Institute, Upper Church Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
Arrangements are by the Riley mortuary, Inc., Amsterdam.

Gertrude C. Rehberg
November 28, 2002
Gertrude C. Rehberg, 93, of Broad Street, formerly of the Stratton Apartments in Amsterdam, passed away Thursday morning at the Mt. Loretto Nursing Home in Amsterdam where she had been a resident.
She was born in Amsterdam, N.Y. on December 13, 1908, a daughter of Frank and Caroline Ehmer Rehberg. She wa a lifelong Amsterdam resident and attended local schools.
Miss Rehberg first was employed for the former Chalmer's Knitting Mill in Amsterdam as a Sewing Machine operator for 19 years. She later was employed as a Supervisor at the former Woolworth's Department Store in Amsterdam for 25 years.
She was a member of the First Reformed Church, Arch Street in Amsterdam. She was the treasurer of the Church's Sunday School for 11 years. She was also the treasurer of the Missionary Society and assistant Treasurer of the church. She volunteered for many years at Montgomery Meadows Residential Health Care Facility. She was also a member of the Fifth Ward Senior Citizens.
Survivors include two sister-in-laws, Dea Rehberg of Amsterdam and Genevieve Rehberg of Amsterdam; one niece, Karen Konik of Canajoharie, N.Y.; and cousins.
She was pre-deceased by two brothers - Frank Rehberg and George Rehberg.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam with the Rev. Derek DeJager officiating. Interment after Cremation will be in Greenhill Cemetery in Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to GAVAC, P.O. Box 11, Amsterdam, N.Y. 12010 or to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Albany, N.Y. 12211.
