Anna K. Brennan
Ret. Tax Collector, 90

Anna K. Brennan of Pond Eddy, a retired tax collector for the Town of Lumberland and a retired chef for the Glen Spa Restaurant, both in Glen Spey, died Thursday, February 21, 2002, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 90 years of age.
The daughter of the late Eugene and Daisy Osterhoudt O'Neill, she was born July 4, 1911, in Pond Eddy. She was the widow of Ralph Longspaugh and Louis Jerome Brennan.
Mrs. Brennan was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Pond Eddy.
She is survived by two daughters, Betty Johnson of Pond Eddy and Barbara Steinberg of Monticello; two sons, George Brennan of Pond Eddy and Michael Brennan of Monticello; a brother, Charles O'Neill of Hudson, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, Bernard, Eugene, Raymond and Francis "Dutch" O'Neill.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home in Port Jervis with the Rev. Ivan Csete officiating.
Burial was made in the Glen Spey Cemetery in Glen Spey.

Harriet Richardson
Homemaker, 87

Harriet Richardson of Monticello, a homemaker and a lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, February 20, 2002, at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty. She was 87 years of age.
The daughter of the late Andrew and Eva Teller Gibson, she was born November 12, 1914. She was the widow of Edward R. "Richie" Richardson.
Mrs. Richardson was a charter member of the Monticello Exempt Firemen's Auxiliary and a member of the Monticello Senior Citizens.
She is survived by a son, Andrew Richardson of Monticello; three grandchildren, Blake Richardson, Carene Collura and Kathryn Richardson; three sisters, Jennie Kracht of Middletown, Ethel Dobbs of South Fallsburg and Edna Cross of Blairsville, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were private.
Cremation was made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
Burial of the cremains will be made in the Hillside Cemetery in Woodbourne.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Funeral arrangements were made by the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home in Monticello.

Ellen R. Griffin
Homemaker, 86

Ellen R. Griffin of Westbrookville, a homemaker and a lifelong area resident, died Thursday, February 21, 2002, at the Beechwood Residence in Buffalo. She was 86 years of age.
The daughter of the late Daniel and Sybil Decker Gunnar, she was born in Westbrookville. She was the widow of Joseph Griffin.
Mrs. Griffin was a member of the Westbrookville United Methodist Church and a longtime Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the Baasha Club of the church.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John D. and Wilma Griffin of Buffalo; a brother, Charles A. Ashworth of Little Falls; and several nieces. She was predeceased by two brothers, Curtis and Daniel Clifford Ashworth.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home in Port Jervis.
Burial will be made in the Westbrookville Cemetery in Westbrookville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Westbrookville United Methodist Church, Westbrookville, N.Y. 12785.

Hanna Swords Moore
Homemaker, 83

Hanna Swords Moore passed away Sept. 29, 2006, after a long and full life of devotion to family, faithfulness to God, and loyalty to friends. She was 83 years of age and had resided most recently at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty.
She was born on April 11, 1923 in Germany, the last of six children born to Rev. Albert E. and Gertrud Funk Swords, and immigrated with her parents to the United States in 1942, when she was 19. After several years of high school education in New Jersey she enrolled in Baldwin-Wallace College, in Berea, Ohio, from which she received her B.A. in 1949.
On September 9, 1949 Hanna married Rev. Richard Moore, with whom she shared a rich and fulfilling marriage for more than 52 years, until his death in 2002. She was an active participant and supporter of his ministry in a number of United Methodist communities in New York State, including Pine Plains, Franklin, Greenville, South Bethlehem, Hancock, Sloatsburg, and (after his retirement) Hurleyville and Westbrookville.
Hanna was a talented homemaker and a wise and creative mother, and is survived by her three children and their spouses, James and Holly Moore of Hyde Park, Connie and Fred Lamando of Binghamton and David and Phyllis Moore of Grahamsville; seven grandchildren, Rebecca, Jonathan and Katherine Moore, Tim and Justin Lamando, and Adam and Emily Moore; and two brothers, Herbert Swords of Cincinnati, Ohio, and John Swords of Syracuse; and one sister, Esther Swords Foster of Pittsfield, Mass. She recently had the joy of attending the first of her grandchildren’s weddings, Sept. 9, 2006, which would have been her 57th anniversary.
Hanna’s family grieves her passing, but gives thanks for her long, full life, and also now for freedom from pain and illness, and the beginning of a new chapter in her life with God.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, October 4 at the Hyde Park United Methodist Church. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Westbrookville Cemetery.
Gifts in memory of Hanna may be made to the Building Fund of the Hyde Park United Methodist Church, 1 Church St., Hyde Park, NY or in support of resident activities at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center, 256 Sunset Lake Rd., P.O. Box 671, Liberty, NY 12754.
Arrangements were by the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, Port Jervis.

Betty J. Foster
Ret. Lab Tech., 77

Betty J. Foster of Jeffersonville, a retired lab tech with Geigy Pharmaceuticals and a long time area resident, died Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center, Grover Hermann Div., Callicoon. She was 77.
The daughter of the late Robert and Emma Bealfour, she was born July 16, 1929 in Sloatsburg.
Betty was a former member of the Eagle Valley Fire Dept. Auxiliary and the Tuxedo American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her daughter, Pat Weyant and her husband, Ron of Neversink; six grandchildren, Patti (Gibson) and her husband, Lenny Caruso of Neversink, Art Weyant of Neversink, Chris Weyant of Rock Hill, Rick Weyant and his wife, Mary of West Long Branch, Bobbie Weyant and his wife, Salie of Okinowa, Japan and Ronnie Weyant and his wife, Emmanda of Rome; ten great grandchildren, Kyle Caruso, Rhiannon, Amy Lee, Katherine, Julia, Rhett, Kyle, Mason, Morgan and Mary K. Weyant; a sister, Regina McDuffie and her husband, Larry of Atlanta, Ga.; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husbands, Arthur Montanye, thence, Hubert Foster, one daughter, Judi Gibson, and three brothers, Robert, Joseph and William.
Funeral services wil be private. Please remember Betty in your prayers. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Harris Funeral Home, Roscoe.

Joan W. Redington
Business Owner, 78

Joan W. Redington of Jeffersonville passed away Friday, September 29, 2006 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 78.
The daughter of Walter C. and Edna Gorr Weiss, Joan was born January 18, 1928 in North Branch. She was married to the late George B. Redington who passed away in 1999.
Joan owned George’s Colonial Inn and Lanes with her late husband George B. Redington. She was a member of St. George’s Church, Jeffersonville, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, Happy Footers Square Dance Club, Jeffersonville Senior Citizens.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda R. Duttweiler and her husband, Michael of Ithaca, Joan E. Redington and her companion, Thomas Skiff, Jr. of White Sulphur Springs and Janet Redington Hauser and her companion, Greg Cogar of Callicoon Center; one son, George C. Redington of Escondido, Calif.; six grandchildren, Christian Duttweiler of Ithaca, Katrina Duttweiler of Ames, Iowa, Thomas Skiff III and Gregg Skiff of White Sulphur Springs, Adam Hauser and Tiffany Hauser of Callicoon Center; a sister, Faye Mahony and her husband, Thomas of Valhalla; a brother-in-law, John M. Redington and his wife, Marge of Peoria, Ill.; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Mass will be October 3 at St. George’s Church in Jeffersonville at 11 a.m. Father Leo Peters will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Liberty.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Jeffersonville First Aid Squad.

Madeleine Everett
Ross Industries Emp., 85

Madeleine Everett of Liberty, died Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at Catskill Regional Medical in Harris. She was 85.
She was a lifelong resident born in Neversink on October 9, 1920 to the late Howard and Amy Hall Stickle.
She worked at Ross Industries in Liberty. She was a member of the Grahamsville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Alice McCleary of Whitehall, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Betty Everett of Neversink; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, George F. Everett on January 16, 1979; a son Raymond; four brothers, Arthur, Kenneth, Nelson and Alvin Stickle and a sister, Bertha Edwards.
There will be no visitation.
Graveside services were held Monday, October 2 in Grahamsville Rural Cemetery in Grahamsville. The Rev. Carl Caskey officiated.
Arrangements by Ramsay’s Funeral Homes, Inc. in Liberty.

Dr. Mohandas Menon
Ret. Surgeon, 68

Dr. Mohandas “Simon” Menon of Rock Hill, died Wednesday September 27 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. He was 68.
The son of the late P.N.S. and Kutchuleshme Niar Menon, he was born on February 27, 1938 in Bombay, India.
Dr. Menon practiced as a General Physician and Vascular Surgeon at Arden Hill Hospital for 28 years until his retirement in 1995.
A family statement reads: “Simon never wavered from his principles of honesty and integrity. These characteristics were his greatest gift to his children, greatly influencing their own paths to adulthood. He was a voracious reader who enjoyed sharing good books with others. He loved tennis and music. He was a gentle, compassionate man of infinite patience, especially with his grandchildren. He was devoted to his family and friends. His good natured, fun loving ways were the foundation of his many friendships.”
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan at home; his daughters, Sheila Schneiderman and her husband, Stuart, of Chappaqua; Jennifer Clearwaters and her husband, Mark, of Point Pleasant, N.J.; son, Sean Menon and his wife, Dawn, of Monroe; and five grandchildren: Jordyn, Sydnie, Owen, James and Jackson.
Cremation will be private, at the convenience of the family.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Ave., Middletown.
Memorial contributions in Simon’s name may be made to the S.P.C.A. of Westchester, 590 North State Rd., Briarcliff Manor, NY 10510.
The Menon family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Tal Ronen for his continued help and support and to Mary M. McPhillips for her loving care and friendship.

Janice I. Goddin
Artist, 84

Janice I. Goddin of Latham, died on Friday, September 29, 2006 at the Albany Memorial Hospital in Albany following a long illness. She was 84.
She was born on October 2, 1921 in Middletown and was the daughter of the late Roy and Ivah Reed Gardner.
Mrs. Goddin was a graduate of Pratt Institute in New York City where she received her degree in interior design. She was not any ordinary homemaker. As an extremely talented artist and musician, she played piano, organ and ukulele. She won several awards for her beautiful oil and water paintings. To improve her skills, she studied under the direction of artist, Gunther Koris.
As a young woman, she ran a radio talk show in Middletown. Sewing and showing horses were just a couple of other pastimes of hers. Above all, her love of family and nurturing were her greatest attributes.
She was the beloved wife of 65 years to Arthur Goddin; devoted mother of William A. Goddin of Scotia, Pamela G. (Owen) Bennett of Latham and Jill A. (Lamont) Edwards of Rock Hill; caring sister of Dorothy Leddy of Rock Hill; eleven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive her.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2006 in Memory’s Garden Cemetery, Colonie. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of NYS, Three Winners Circle, Suite 300, Albany, NY 12205.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, Clifton Park.
