Alice D. McKenna
Ret Teacher's Aide, 87

Alice D. McKenna, a former resident of Jeffersonville and a retired teacher's aide, died Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty. She was 87 years of age.
The daughter of the late John A. and Alice McDonald Dwyer, she was born January 13, 1916, in Brooklyn. She was the widow of Ignatius A. McKenna.
Mrs. McKenna is survived by two sons, William McKenna of Goose Creek, S.C., and John McKenna of Throgs Neck; two daughters, Rose Pemberton of Oneonta and Patricia Scott of Jeffersonville; a sister, Evelyn Doyle of Greenport; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Alice Blum.
Friends may call at the Arthur White Funeral Home, 315 Conklin St., Farmingdale, on Sunday from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
Services will be held Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will be made in the Long Island National Cemetery at Pine Lawn.

Luigi Bastone, 74
Owned El Monaco's

Luigi Bastone of White Lake, the owner of the El Monaco Restaurant in White Lake, died Thursday, March 20, 2003, at his home. He was 74 years of age.
He was born March 21, 1928.
He is survived by his wife, Luisa Bastone, at home; two sons, John Bastone and Anthony Bastone, both of Westchester; and three grandchildren.
Burial was made in the Bronx.
A Memorial Mass will be offered at St. George's Church in Jeffersonville on Sunday at 3 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Liver Foundation, 1425 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove, N.J. 07009 in memory of Luigi Bastone and Louis John Bastone.
Arrangements were made by the Ramsay's Funeral Home in Liberty.

Arlene J. Sacco
Office Manager, 60

Arlene Joy Sacco of Monticello, an office manager for Diamond Door and Hardware in Monticello, died Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at her home. She was 60 years of age.
The daughter of Thelma King Noonan and the late Donald Bessinger, she was born April 16, 1942, in Sioux St. Marie, Mich.
In a family statement, it was said, "She was a wonderfdul, caring wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed."
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Frank J. Sacco, at home; three daughters, Nancy DeVita of Shohola, Pa., Linda Kosturko of Wyckoff, N.J., and Janice Sacco of Wallington, N.J.; three grandchildren, Michael, Nicholas and Vincent; and her mother of Monticello.
Friends may call on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7-9 p.m. at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 195 Broadway, Monticello.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, N.Y. 12550.

Marjorie A. Brown
Shipping Clerk, 70

Marjorie A. Brown, a 2-year resident of Eustis, Fla., formerly of Napanoch and a shipping clerk, died Tuesday, April 1, 2003. She was 70 years of age.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Clark, she was born in Eureka.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband, Donald R. Brown, at home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Anita Brown of Burlingham and William and Heather Brown of Napanoch; a daughter and son-in-law, Ronnie and Mike Geogehan of Rome, N.J.; a brother, William Clark Jr. of Little Falls; and three grandchildren, Hope Brown, Kyle Brown and Adam Geogehan.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Lake County, 1411 E. Main St., Suite 3, Leesburg, Fla. 34748.

Helen B. Young
Ret. Teacher, 91

Helen B. Young of Bethlehem, Pa., a former resident of Newburgh and Milanville, Pa., died Tuesday, April 1, 2003. She was 91 years of age.
The daughter of the late Willis and Henrietta Martin Banks, she was born in Sparrowbush. She was the widow of Warren W. Young to whom she was married 40 years.
A 1931 graduate of Pratt Institute and SUNY at New Paltz, where she earned a Master's degree in Education, Mrs. Young was a teacher in the Newburgh School system at Gardnertown and then at Meadow Hill before retiring in 1977. She had also taught at Cornwall and Narrowsburg.
Mrs. Young was a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star Chapter in Honesdale, Pa.
She is survived by two sons, W. Wayne Young and Gary Young; a daughter, Barbara Young Baldwin; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were held at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Newburgh on Thursday.

Anne Walter
Homemaker, 89

Anne Walter of Suffern, a former resident of Livingston Manor and a homemaker, died Sunday, March 30, 2003, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern. She was 89 years of age.
The daughter of the late Josef and Klara Vogt Baumann, she was born February 17, 1914, in Neudenau, Germany. She was the widow of Alban Walter.
She is survived by two sons, Herbert Fred Walter and his wife, Janice, of Londonderry, N.H., and Frank G. Walter of Monroe; three daughters, Ann M. Walter and Katherine Sullivan and her husband, Paul, all of the State of Florida, and Marianne Flynn and her husband, Gene, of Suffern; five grandchildren, Susan, Steven, Ayla, Sean and Jason; and four great-grandchildren, Emily, Erica, Leah and Alex. She was predeceased by a grandson, Adam.
Friends may call at the Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl St., Livingston Manor, on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 1 p.m. at St. Aloysius Church, Livingston Manor, with Msgr. William Collins officiating.
Burial will be made in St. Aloysius Cemetery in Livingston Manor.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Mary Arcidiacono
Homemaker, 89

Mary Arcidiacono, an 18-year resident of Liberty and a homemaker, died Friday, April 4, 2003, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 89 years of age.
The daughter of the late Fred and Amelia Morretta Boccia, she was born July 12, 1913, in the Bronx. She was the widow of Umberto Arcidiacono.
Mrs. Arcidiacono was a communicant of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Liberty.
She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Fred and Darla Arcidiacono of Parksville, Nick and Debra Arcidiacono of Joelton, Tenn., and David Arcidiacono of Liberty; three sisters, Nina Gentile of Flushing, Ernestine Boccia of Flushing and Rita Cassetta of Whitestone; a brother, Fred Boccia of Red Hook; four grandchildren, Fred Arcidiacono Jr., Jenifer Arcidiacono, Nicholas Arcidiacono and Nicholas Nelson; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Ernest Arcidiacono.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Peters Roman Catholic Church, 264 North Main St., Liberty, with Monsignor Edward Straub officiating.
Burial will be made in the Long Island National Cemetery in Pinelawn.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Harris Funeral Home in Liberty.

Cecilia Lacen
Homemaker, 101

Cecilia Lacen of Monticello, a homemaker and a 30-year area resident, formerly of Brooklyn, died Thursday, April 3, 2003, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 101 years of age.
The widow of Juan Lacen, she was born in Puerto Rico on April 15, 1901. She came to the United States in 1926, returned to Puerto Rico and in 1929, returned again to the mainland with her son, Gilbert, who predeceased her.
Mrs. Lacen was a member of St. Peter's Church in Monticello, St. Joseph's Church in Middletown and was a founder and lifelong member of the Montserrat Roman Catholic Church in Brooklyn.
In a family statement, it was said, "She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who touched everyone's heart with her smile, laughter and caring. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her."
She is survived by nine grandchildren, Gilbert Suarez Jr. and his wife, Miriam, of the state of Florida, Eugene Suarez of South Fallsburg, Anthony Suarez and his wife, Lillian, of Monticello, Gene Piere Lacen of Syracuse, Joseph Suarez of Brooklyn, Lillian Vasquez and her husband, Angel, of Middletown, Cecilia Bones of Staten Island, Theresa Ruiz of Brooklyn, Claudine Clark and her husband, Leon, of Middletown, and Debra Wolochuck of Monticello; 29 great-grandchildren; and 39 great-great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass was offered Monday at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Monticello with the Rev. Robert Ginel officiating.
Burial was made in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Middletown.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church of Monticello, 10 Liberty St., Monticello, N.Y. 12701.
Funeral arrangements were made by the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home in Monticello.

Leo H. O'Banks
Ret. Brakeman, 90

Leo H. O'Banks of Wurtsboro, a retired brakeman for the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad in Maybrook and a lifelong area resident, died Friday, April 4, 2003, at the Horton Campus of the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. He was 90 years of age.
The son of the late Christopher and Pauline Smith O'Banks, he was born January 12, 1912, in High Falls. He was the widower of Gladys O'Banks.
Mr. O'Banks is survived by his wife, Madeline Martin O'Banks of Wurtsboro; two sons and daughters-in-law, Leo Jr. and Judy O'Banks of Port Orange, Fla., and Craig and Raelene O'Banks of White Lake; a daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Thomas Amodio of Maybrook; a sister, Mildred Doolittle of Richland, Wash.; four step-children, Fred Compton, Ralph "Butch" Compton, Sue Shafer and Lucy Stevens; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Eldred and Robert O'Banks.
Services were held Monday at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home in Walden.
Burial was made in the Wallkill Valley Cemetery in Walden.
