Nora M. Weeks
Homemaker, 90

Nora M. Weeks of Woodridge, a homemaker and a lifelong area resident, died Sunday, August 13, 2000, at the Arden Hill Hospital in Goshen. She was 90 years of age.
The daughter of the late Merritt and Jennie Purvis Helm, she was born July 30, 1910, in Roscoe. She was the widow of Fred Weeks.
Mrs. Weeks was a member of the United Methodist Church of Woodridge and chaplain of the Ladies Aid of the church.
In a family statement, it was said, "She was the world's greatest mother and grandmother who was always there when we needed her."
She is survived by a son, Donald Weeks of Lords Valley, Pa.; three daughters, Eleanor Depew of Bloomingburg, Doris Caston of Woodridge and Phyllis LaBelle of Middletown; two brothers, Melvin Caston of Woodridge and Clifton Helm of Montgomery; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 195 Broadway, Monticello, on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Woodridge in Woodridge with the Rev. Doris M. Tietjen officiating.
Burial will be made in the Fallsburg Cemetery in Fallsburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church of Woodridge, P.O. Box 113, Woodridge, N.Y. 12789.

Allen ‘Skip’ Atkins
Ret. Roofer, 67

Allen "Skip" Atkins of Liberty, a retired roofer with the Poughkeepsie Local, died Tuesday, October 17, 2000, at the Nyack Hospital in Nyack, after a long illness. He was 67 years of age.
The son of the late Elmer and Irene Hunt Atkins, he was born December 17, 1932, in Liberty.
Mr. Atkins was a member of Ontario Hose Co. #3 of the Liberty Fire Department and the United Methodist Church, both in Liberty.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia "Ginger" Atkins, at home; three daughters, Crystal Kirchner, Willow Atkins and her husband, Fred LaGattuta, and Leslie Atkins, all of Liberty; five grandchildren, Keegan, Paedem and Lacoln LaGattuta,Travis Atkins and Ross Kirchner; and a sister, Betty Atkins of Liberty. He was predeceased by nine brothers and a sister.
Services were held Thursday at the Ramsay's Funeral Home in Liberty with the Rev. Francis Waite officiating.
Burial was made in the Liberty Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church of Liberty, 170 North Main St., Liberty, N.Y. 12754.

Lynnann Flanagan
Homemaker, 44

Lynnann Carroll Flanagan of Bloomingburg, a homemaker and a former employee of ShopRite in Middletown, died Monday, October 16, 2000, at her father's home in Middletown, after a brief battle with cancer. She was 44 years of age.
The daughter of Alfred P. Carroll and the late Margaret Woodbury Carroll, she was born October 31, 1955, in New York City.
She is survived by her husband, George Flanagan, three daughters, Crystal, Lori and Patricia Flanagan, all at home; two sons, Christopher Carroll of Liberty and Shaun Carroll, at home; her father and step-mother, Al and Antoinette Carroll of Middletown; a sister, Nancy Carroll of Danbury, Conn.; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Debbie Carroll of New Hampton; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Friday at St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Middletown.
Interment will be made in St. Anastasia Cemetery in Harriman.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Orange, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, N.Y. 12550.

Marvin G. Cox
Ret. Hwy. Supt., 59

Marvin Grant Cox of Livingston Manor, a retired highway superintendent for the Village of Liberty and a former longtime Liberty resident, died Wednesday, October 18, 2000, at his home. He was 59 years of age.
The son of the late Guilford and Blodwin Roberts Cox, he was born December 26, 1940, in Liberty.
Mr. Cox was a member of the Liberty United Methodist Church and an active member of the Liberty Fire Department where he served as chief from 1978 to 1980. He was a past president and 41-year member of Ontario Hose Company #3, Liberty Fire Department, a member of the New York State Highway Superintendents Association and a member of the Covered Bridge Hunting Club in Claryville.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Pierpont Cox, at home; a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Christine Cox of Neversink; a daughter and son-in-law, Tracey and Kenneth Ross of Liberty; two step-daughters, Kimberly Tompkins of Goose Creek, S.C., and Janine Roser and her husband, James, of Livingston Manor; two sisters, Mary Ellen Early of East Branch and Ruth Ann Lunning of Lake Huntington; and five grandchildren, Esti Ross, Alli Ross, Jessie Roser, Paden Roser and Taylor Cox.
Friends may call at the Ramsay's Funeral Home, 275 South Main St., Liberty, on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Firematic services will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. David McCarthy officiating.
Burial will be made in the Lew Beach Cemetery in Lew Beach.

Allen G. Rupp
Village Emply., 31

Allen G. Rupp of Monticello, a Village of Monticello employee and a lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, October 17, 2000, at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. He was 31 years of age.
The son of Agnes Taggart Rupp and the late Frank E. Rupp Sr., he was born November 3, 1968, in Monticello.
Mr. Rupp was a member of AFSCME Local Union #750, and was an active participant in various dart leagues in the area.
He is survived by his mother of Monticello; a brother and sister-in-law, Frank E. Jr. and Karen Rupp of Forestburgh; and two nieces, Brittany and Calley Anne. He was predeceased by a brother, Jerry Rupp.
Friends may call at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 195 Broadway, Monticello, on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be made in the Glen Wild Cemetery in Glen Wild.

Arlene N. Smith, 86
Ret. from Novelty Works

Arlene Nancy Smith of Ellenville, a retired employee of the Ellenville Wood Novelty Works shipping department and a lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, October 17, 2000, at the Ellenville Community Hospital. She was 86 years of age.
The daughter of the late James and Lottie Irwin, she was born August 24, 1914, in Yeagerville. She was the widow of Arthur K. Smith who died October 3, 1989.
Mrs. Smith is survived by two sons, Arthur K. Smith Jr. of Ellenville and James R. Smith of Kerhonkson; a daughter, Lee Skinner of Jeffersonville; four granddaughters; a grandson; and several nieces and nephews, including Sharon and Duke.
Friends may call at the Loucks Funeral Home, Route 209, Ellenville, on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Walter S. Steinard officiating.
Burial will be made in the Pine Bush Cemetery in Kerhonkson.

Jennie E. Eck
Homemaker, 73

Jennie E. Eck of Livingston Manor, a homemaker and lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, October 17, 2000, in the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. She was 73 years of age.
The daughter of the late Peter and Jennie O'Dell McKune, she was born July 11, 1927, in Horton.
In a family statement, it was said, "Nan was a loving, devoted and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother."
She is survived by her husband, Ollen Eck, at home; three daughters, Dolly Lewis and Rose McGreevy, both of Livingston Manor, and Jennifer Eck of Youngsville; a son, Ollen Eck Jr. of Livingston Manor; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl St., Livingston Manor, on Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Services will be held at 2 p.m Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Dorothy Smith officiating.
Burial will be made in the Orchard Street Cemetery in Livingston Manor.

Evelyn L. Bivins
Hotel Housekeeper, 71

Evelyn L. Bivins of South Fallsburg, a housekeeper for various hotels and hospitals in the area and a lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, October 18, 2000, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. She was 71 years of age.
The daughter of the late Charles and Olive VanKeuren Price, she was born August 6, 1929, in Monticello. She was the widow of Victor M. Bivins.
She is survived by three sons, Carl Ackerley of Harris, William Ackerley of Woodbourne and Daniel Ackerley of Kenoza Lake; a daughter, Shirley VanAken of South Fallsburg; a step-son, James Ackerley of Claryville; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Irwin "Pete" Price of Otisville and John Price of Monticello; four sisters, Eleanor Hill of South Carolina, Betty Horton of Livingston Manor, Marie Young of Long Eddy and Grace Davis of Swan Lake; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation was made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
Interment of the ashes will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Funeral arrangements were made by the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home in Monticello.
