Michael R. Dorn
Ret. Exec. Chef, 70

Michael R. "Pop" Dorn of Wurtsboro, a retired executive chef for the Sperry-Rand Corporation and a longtime area resident, died April 14, 2003, at his home. He was 70 years of age.
The son of the late Renaldo and Dorothy Herrera Dorn, he was born February 1, 1933, in Hoboken, N.J. He was the widower of Joan Dorn.
An associate member of the Wurtsboro Fire Company #1, Mr. Dorn was a veteran of the United States Army, serving as a paratrooper with the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team "Rakkasans" during the Korean War. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman's badge, the Korean Conflict Ribbon with three campaign stars, the Purple Heart for wounds received in Chowan, Korea, the Army of Occupation Ribbon for his service in Occupied Japan, and many other medals and commendations.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Fonda and William Padgett of Wurtsboro and Decena and Mark Tanzman of Rock Hill; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Carol Dorn of Brooklyn, Perry and Janice Dorn of Monticello and Scott and Cheryl Dorn of Rock Hill; 11 grandchildren, Douglas, Cory, Tyla, Dara, Jessica, Michael, Amande, Samantha, Jordan, Jason and Jonas; three sisters, Nora Kolsin and her husband, Sheldon, of Dunnellon, Fla., Patricia Arca and Katherine Chiappone, both of Granbury, Tex.
A prayer service was held at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home in Wurtsboro on Wednesday with the Rev. Peter Madori officiating.
Burial was made with military honors at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 95 Schwenk Dr., Kingston, N.Y. 12401.

Carmella Staropoli
Dog Breeder, 81

Carmella Staropoli of Liberty, a dog breeder for many years in Sullivan County, died Monday, April 14, 2003, at the Stratton Veterans Administration Medical Center in Albany after a long illness. She was 81 years of age.
The daughter of the late Ciro and Angelina Comparato Staropoli, she was born September 6, 1921, in New York City.
A member of St. Peter's R.C. Church in Liberty, she was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, serving as a Staff Sergeant from 1951 to 1954. Miss Staropoli was a member of Corporal Russell D. Sprague Post #109, American Legion, in Liberty where she had served as commander and chaplain. She was a member of the Women's Army Corps Veterans Association, a charter member of the Monticello Kennel Club, a past president of the Sullivan County Italian-American Association and a member and treasurer of the Liberty Lioness Club. She was a volunteer with the Sullivan County Office for the Aging, a former member of the Livingston Manor Senior Citizens and a board member of the Liberty Rural Housing Agency. Serving as a foster grandmother for the Liberty Elementary School was dear to her heart.
She is survived by a niece, Frances Nocello of Massapequa; a nephew, Charles Staropoli of Newark, Del.; and five grand-nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Wednesday at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Liberty with the Rev. Ivan Csete officiating.
Interment with military honors was made at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's R.C. Church, 264 North Main St., Liberty, N.Y. 12754 or to the Town of Liberty Volunteer Ambulance Corps, P.O. Box 105, Liberty, N.Y. 12754.

Winifred Kuhar
Ret. Chambermaid, 61

Winifred W. "Winnie" Kuhar of Ellenville, a retired chambermaid at the Tamarack Lodge in Greenfield Park and a lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, April 16, 2003, at the Ellenville Regional Hospital. She was 61 years of age.
The daughter of the late Winifred and Mildred L. Briggs Brown, she was born December 21, 1941, in Greenfield Park.
A member of the Church of St. Mary and St. Andrew in Ellenville, she was a former associate manager at the Ulster Heights Tavern.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Sgt. Maj. Scott and Luise Kuhar, with the United States Army, and Robert Kuhar Jr. of Ellenville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan M. and Bradley Snyder of Ellenville and Robin L. and Chief Warrant Officer 4th Class Thomas Somers with the United States Army; two brothers, Albert Brown of Woodbourne and Harold Brown of Greenfield Park; a sister, Gertrude Yerkes of Greenfield Park; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Tammy Jo Kuhar, and a brother, Robert Brown.
Friends may call at the Loucks Funeral Home on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Liturgy of the Word will be celebrated on Saturday at 9 a.m at the Church of St. Mary and St. Andrew, Route 209, Ellenville.
Burial will be made in the Fantinekill Cemetery in Ellenville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Make-a-Wish Foundation, 208 N. Bedford Rd., #2-B, Mt. Kisco, N.Y. 10549.

Robert F. Holtz
Ret. Businessman, 69

Robert F. Holtz of South Fallsburg, a retired autobody repairman and the proprietor of Bob's 209 Auto Sales, died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in the Bronx. He was 69 years of age.
The son of the late Alvin F. and Clara Louise Zurstaudt-Holtz, he was born April 7, 1934, in Evansville, Ind. He was the widower of Winifred J. Winters Holtz who died July 26, 1980.
A Korean War veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was a member of the Ellenville American Legion and the Elks Lodge #1971 in Ellenville.
Mr. Holtz is survived by his wife, Barbara Larsen-Holtz; two daughters, Claudia Patrizia Holtz of Queens and Blair Victoria Larsen-Holtz at home; a grandson, Lucas Elijah Holtz; three brothers, Louis Walter Holtz of Waynesville, Mo., Alvin George Holtz of Sterling, Va., and Daniel Carl Holtz of Renton, Wash.; two sisters, Anna Louise Fruik of Lakewood, Colo., and Julia Elizabeth Cummingore of Paris, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Alice Mildred Pavey.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Woodbourne.
Interment will be made in the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home in Woodbourne.

Edward L. Fields
Ret. Businessman, 65

Edward Levi Fields, a one-year resident of Sebring, Fla., and the former owner and operator of Eddie's TV in Westbrookville, died March 14, 2003, at his home. He was 65 years of age.
The son of the late Tug B. and Lola Williams Fields, he was born December 20, 1937, in Laurel County, Kty.
Mr. Fields was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Intrepid, and was an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Fields, of Sebring, Fla., and Westbrookville; a daughter, Sandra Fields of Campbell, Calif.; a son, Wayne Fields of Monticello; a sister, Louise Byrd and a brother, Jack Fields, both of Sebring, Fla.
Memorial services were held at the Chapel of Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Sebring, Fla., with the Rev. R.L. Polk officiating.
A graveside memorial service and burial will be held in Westbrookville at a later date.

Tanya R. Walker
Wal-Mart Associate, 27

Tanya R. Walker of Middletown, an associate for Wal-Mart in Middletown, died Thursday, April 17, 2003, at St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh. She was 27 years of age.
The daughter of Joseph and Diane Johnson Walker, she was born December 30, 1975, in Charleston, S.C.
In a family statement, it was said, "Tayna loved everybody and everyone loved Tanya."
She is survived by her mother of Newburgh; her father of West Virginia; five siblings, Danielle, Kalynn, Corey, Mathew and Michael Walker, all of Newburgh; two step-brothers, Joseph Walker Jr. of West Virginia, and Willie Walker of Bloomingburg; two step-sisters, Toni and Amber Walker of Bloomingburg; a niece, Amia Walker of Newburgh; her maternal grandmother, Anne MacLean and her husband, Basil, of Middletown,; her maternal grandfather, Joseph Johnson Sr. of Otisville; her paternal grandmother, Margaret Walker; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Morse Funeral Home, 33 Railroad Ave., Middletown, with Father John Warfel officiating.
Burial will be made in the Hillside Cemetery in Middletown.

Kathy Ann Call
Homemaker, 48

Kathy Ann Call of Middletown, a homemaker and a lifelong area resident, died Saturday, April 19, 2003, at her home. She was 48 years of age.
The daughter of the late Clarence and Aline Feringa Conklin, she was born July 6, 1954, in Warwick.
She is survived by her husband, Francis Call, at home; a stepson, Francis Call Jr., two sons, Steven Call and Erik Call, and a daughter, Genevieve Call, all of Middletown; a brother, Howard Conklin of Newfield; a sister, Laura Van Duzer of Bloomingburg; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, 72 West Main St., Middletown, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be made in the Circleville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, N.Y. 12550.

Christopher Robinson, 19

Christopher Michael Robinson of Brockport died Saturday, April 19, 2003. He was 19 years of age.
The son of Yvette James and Lester Robinson, he was born June 23, 1983, in Monticello.
He is survived by his parents; two sisters, Bianca and Candice Robinson; his grandparents, Ernestine Clark, and Chanie and Moses Robinson; and many aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his grandfather, William E. James Sr.
Friends may call at the Metropolitan Funeral Chapels, 109 West Ave., Rochester, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the chapel.
Burial will be private.

Edgar W. Hulse
Ret. Const. Supt., 81

Edgar W . Hulse of Cochecton, a retired construction superintendent with Carpenters Local 1342 and a 17-year area resident, formerly of Parsippany, N.J., died Thursday, April 17, 2003, at the Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, Pa. He was 81 years of age.
The son of the late Edgar W. Sr. and Anna Undriener Heinle Hulse, he was born September 9, 1921, in Lake Huntington.
A U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he served in the South Pacific and was a member of the H. Russell Kenyon Post No. 5808, Veterans of Foreign Wars, in Callicoon. Mr. Hulse was also a member of the Cochecton Ambulance Corps in Lake Huntington, the Essex County Carpenters Local 1342, the NRA, the Republican Club of Cochecton in Lake Huntington, the Cochecton Preservation Society and the Senior Citizens Sunshine Club of Lake Huntington.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel Rohrman Hulse, at home; a son, Edgar III of Morris Plains, N.J.; a daughter and son-in-law, Debra M. and David Derr of Dover, N.J.; three step-daughters and their husbands, Nancy and Dur Powell, Karen and Pete Healy and Gloria and K. C . Garn, all of Lake Huntington; five step-grandchildren, Bryon and Chad Powell, Margot and Augie Healy and Kienan Garn. He was predeceased by a half-brother, George Heinle.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Rasmussen Sons Funeral Home in Narrowsburg with the Rev. Thomas Jones officiating.
Burial, with full military honors, will be made at the Lake Huntington Presbyterian Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cochecton Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Lake Huntington, N.Y. 12752.
