Memorial Service
For Charles Sprague

A memorial service will be held for Charles Sprague, a former resident of Liberty, on at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Chestnut St., Liberty. Rev. Audrey Pedersen will officiate.

Lionel H. Kelly Jr.
Ret. Lineman, 63

Lionel Harris Kelly Jr., a longtime Sullivan County resident and a retired lineman for A & A Electric Co. in Chicago, Ill., died Monday, June 14, 2004, at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty. He was 63 years of age.
The son of the late Lionel and Beatrice Gagna Kelly, he was born June 16, 1940, in Gaspé, Canada.
He is survived by three sons, Joseph Kelly and his fiancée, Tennille, of Hurleyville, and Mark and Jason Kelly, both of Monticello; two daughters, Wendy Kelly of Rock Hill and Anita Kelly of Monticello; two brothers, Wayne Kelly of Chicago, Ill., and Gary Kelly of Montreal, Canada; a sister, Paula Finette of Canada; 15 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Jesse W. Kelly, and a sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Bond.
Friends may call at the Ramsay's Funeral Home, 55 St. John St., Monticello, on Friday from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's R.C. Church, Broadway & Liberty St., Monticello, with the Rev. John Tran officiating.
Burial will be made in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Wurtsboro.

Virginia K. Bodner
Ret. Teacher, 72

Virginia K. Bodner of Yulan, a retired teacher with the Eldred School District and a longtime area resident, died Monday, June 14, 2004, at the Schervier Pavilion Nursing Home in Warwick. She was 72 years of age.
The daughter of the late William F. and Catherine Moroney Kille, she was born March 15, 1933, in Honesdale, Pa.
Mrs. Bodner was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church in Yulan where she served as organist for many years. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a teacher's organization.
In a family statement, it was said, "Virginia was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling to Florida."
She is survived by three daughters, Kathleen Frazier of Warwick, Christina Crandall of Latham and Jackie Bodner of Keokuk, Iowa; two sons, Gregory Bodner of Endicott and Jeff Bodner of Leonardtown, Md.; and six grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Thursday at St. Anthony of Pudua R.C. Church in Yulan with the Rev. Anthony Moore officiating.
Burial was made in St. Francis Cemetery in Narrowsburg.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Rasmussen Funeral Home in Narrowsburg.

Donald Buckner Sr., 66
Ret. Water/Sewer Emply.

Donald H. Buckner Sr. of Woodridge, a retired employee of the Town of Fallsburg Department of Water and Sewer where he worked for over 30 years, died Monday, June 14, 2004, at his home. He was 66 years of age.
The son of the late James and Florence Buckner, he was born October 6, 1937, in Baltimore, Md. He was the widower of Doris Cleo Buckner.
A veteran of the United States Army, he attended the First Baptist Church in South Fallsburg.
In a family statement, it was said, "The memories we have of Donald will always remain dear in our hearts. He was an avid sports fan – baseball being his favorite. On any given day, Donald could be seen doing what he enjoyed best: walking, wearing a baseball cap and greeting anyone he met with a 'Hey, what's up?' Donald always carried such a warm smile and everyone in the neighborhood, especially the children, knew him as 'Pop Pop.'"
He is survived by two daughters, Theresa Corley and her husband, Edward, and Stacey Buckner and her companion, Marcus; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald Jr. and Letise Buckner; a sister and brother-in-law, Florence and Ellerson Wilson; nine grandchildren, Corey, Alaina, Justin, Shannon, Sean, Tyrell, Cherron, Darius and Alicia; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Services were held Thursday at the First Baptist Church in South Fallsburg with the Rev. Anthony Black officiating.
Interment was made in the Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home in Woodbourne.

Magda Kovacs
Homemaker, 72

Magda Kovacs of Bethel, a homemaker, died Sunday, December 24, 2006 at Catskill Regional Medical Center after a valiant eight year battle with cancer. She was 72.
The daughter of Joseph and Ilona Bocsik Kovalcsik, she was born September 18, 1934 in Budapest, Hungary.
In 1957, Magda and her husband Barney immigrated to this country and resided in the Bronx for 25 years, where they raised three daughters. In 1982, they relocated to a farm in Bethel. Shortly after moving to Bethel, Magda’s daughter, Helen Bakos, passed away, leaving behind her two daughters, Angela and Laura. Magda and Barney assumed the responsibility of raising those two young girls. Her whole life was devoted to caring for her daughters and grandchildren.
Magda will be sorely missed by family and friends and all who knew her. She will be remembered for her famous cooking and generosity and love for others.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Barney Kovacs, at home; her mother, Ilona of Budapest, Hungary; a daughter, Barbara Parker; three sisters, Georgette, Eva and Anna, all of Budapest; and four grandchildren, Angela Bakos, Laura Bakos, Anthony Parker and Salim Antabli.
She was predeceased by her father, Joseph Kovalcsik; and two daughters, Helen Bakos and Magda Kovacs.
Funeral services were held Friday at Ramsay’s Funeral Home, Kauneonga Lake.
Burial was made in Evergreen Cemetery, Rt. 17B, Bethel.

Barbara E. Rockwell
Retired Seamstress, 98

Barbara E. Rockwell of Middletown, a longtime resident of the area, died Tuesday, December 26, 2006 at St. Teresa's Nursing Home in Middletown. She was 98.
The daughter of the late Jacob and Minnie Helbling Mohr, she was born September 27, 1908 in Brooklyn. She was the widow of Edwin A. Rockwell.
Mrs. Rockwell was a retired seamstress in Ridgewood. She was a member of the Otisville Seniors and Deerpark Seniors.
Survivors include one daughter, Edith V. Hadey of Middletown; three brothers, William Mohr of Delaware, and Albert and Henry Mohr; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be private. Burial will be made in Westbrookville Cemetery.
Arrangements were made by the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Port Jervis.

Louise Meddaugh
Longtime area resident, 89

Louise V. Meddaugh, a longtime Monticello resident, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2006 at Lucy Corr Village in Chesterfield, Va. She was 89.
The daughter of Richard and Greta Siggelkow, she was born October 26, 1917 in Rostock, Germany.
Louise was a member of the First Church of Monticello Presbyterian, and a member of the New York Telephone Pioneers and the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her daughter, Gloria Myers and her husband Ed of Richmond, Va.; two sons, Shaune O’Neill of Chesterfield, Va., and Richard Meddaugh of Newburgh; four grandchildren, Richard Meddaugh Jr. and his wife, Marci, of Selkirk, Elizabeth Meddaugh of California, Matthew Myers and Laura Myers of Richmond, Va.; one great-grandson, J.R. Meddaugh of Selkirk; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Maurice “Mousey” Meddaugh, and a brother, Richard Voss, predeceased her.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 2 at the First Church of Monticello Presbyterian, John St., Monticello.
The Rev. Robert McLeod will officiate.
Burial will be made in Evergreen Cemetery, Route 17B, Bethel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of Monticello Presbyterian, Jones St., Monticello, NY 12701 or to Hospice of Virginia, 7231 Forest Ave., Suite 100, Richmond, Va 23226 or to Lucy Corr Village Auxiliary, P.O. Drawer 170, Chesterfield, Va 23832.
Funeral arrangements are by Ramsay’s Funeral Homes Inc., Monticello.

Edward John Cocot Jr.
Self-employed contractor, 81

Edward John Cocot Jr. of Monticello, a self-employed contractor, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 26, 2006. He was 81.
The son of Edward John and Carrie May Fisher Cocot, he was born on May 18, 1925 in Monticello.
Edward was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy, and a member of the White Lake Reformed Presbyterian Church (Covenanter). He also loved hunting, camping and fishing.
Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Patricia Bennett Cocot, at home; several children; a brother, John Cocot and his wife Jean of Thompsonville; and two sisters, Johanna Morris and her husband Earl of Thompsonville, and Mary Salisbury of Cochecton.
Cremation was made at the convenience of the family.
A Memorial Service was held Monday, January 1 at the White Lake Reformed Presbyterian Church in White Lake. The Rev. David Coon officiated.
As Edward loved his church family, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the White Lake Reformed Presbyterian Church, Route 17B and Mattison Rd., White Lake, NY 12786.
Funeral arrangements were made by Ramsay’s Funeral Homes, Monticello.

Bella Bogursky
Homemaker, 90

Bella Bogursky of Glen Wild, a longtime area resident and a homemaker, died Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at her home. She was 90 years of age.
The daughter of the late Max and Esther Wisotzky, she was born April 10, 1914, in Poland. She was the widow of Charles Bogursky.
Mrs. Bogursky is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Lorraine Bogursky of Glen Wild; a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Peter Bloch of Ridgefield, N.J.; five grandchildren and their spouses, Stephen and Jane Bogursky, Eileen and Russ Marwin, Donna and John LoTurco, Robert and Laurie Bloch and Paula and Dan Poluchino; and 10 great-grandchildren,; Anna, Harrison, Rebecca, Jonah, Maxwell, Justin, Holly, Jillian, Ian and Magean.
Graveside services and burial were held Thursday at the Glen Wild Synagogue Cemetery with Rabbi Irving Goodman officiating.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home in Monticello.
