Marga Sawall
Ret. Cook, 73

Marga Sawall of Callicoon Center, a resident since 1966 and a retired cook at the Sullivan Diagnostic Center, died Friday, May 6, 2005. She was 73 years of age.
The daughter of the late Gustav and Minna Varnecke Fischer, she was born July 4, 1931, in Oesselse, Germany.
Mrs. Sawall was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and its Ladies Guild of North Branch, a life member of the NRA and a member of the Callicoon Center Band.
She is survived by her husband, Artur Sawall, at home; a daughter and son-in-law, Inge and Fred Burgess of Middletown; two sons, Herbert Sawall and his wife, Kathy, of Cochecton, and Dieter Sawall of Callicoon Center; a brother, Peter Fischer. and a sister, Alma Fischer, both of Germany; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville from 2-6 p.m. on Tuesday.
Services will be held at the funeral home at 6 p.m. on Tuesday with the Rev. Robert Hagadorn officiating.
Cremation will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sawall family.

Loyd C. Tremper
Evergreen Dealer, 75

Loyd Carlton “Papa” Tremper of Fallsburg, a self-employed evergreen dealer, died Friday, May 6, 2005, at home, after a courageous and dignified battle with emphysema and cancer. He was 75 years of age.
The son of the late Floyd and Lula Tremper, he was born July 31, 1929, in Fallsburg.
He served in the United States Army at Fort Polk, La.
Mr. Tremper was a longtime manager for Dolly Madison Ice Cream Company and retired from S&W Ice Cream Company in 1985.
In a family statement, it was said, “He was an avid guitar player and singer, known for his “crying song.” He spent countless hours entertaining his girls and the grandchildren that followed. A gentle soul and perfectionist, who had a passion for the outdoors, his happiness was derived from giving to others, especially his family. His sense of humor kept us laughing until the very end. Such a special grandfather to ‘the grandkids’, that even in the last hours of his life his thoughts were on the memories he shared with them. He was ‘Papa,’ not only to his own grandchildren but to their friends as well. In his last unselfish act, he comforted us and allowed us to share part of his journey ‘home,’ He was loved by all and will always be with us, larger than life. We can now respond to his famous statement, “I don't know what you people will do without me.’ Well, we just don’t know.”
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Luella DeGraw Tremper; his “girls” and their husbands, Debra and Thomas Larsen of Callicoon Center, Cindi and Michael Alexander of Fallsburg, Susan Tremper-Hiatt of Fallsburg and Penny and David Collins of Skaneateles; his grandchildren, Jonathan Loyd Burgess, Heather Dymond and her husband, Bert, Kristen and Daniel Collins, Halley and Jenna Hiatt and Dylan and Jillian Alexander; three great-grandchildren, Tremper “Trey” and Austin Dymond and Amaya Burgess; and a sister, Mary Conklin of Sidney. He was predeceased by a sister, Loretta Zimmerman.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home in Woodbourne with the Rev. Penny Collins, his daughter, officiating.
Interment will be made in the Fallsburg Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, Inc., 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, N.Y. 12550.

Patricia Floor
LPN, 39

Patricia Ann Zecchini Floor, a 14-year resident of Westbrookville and a licensed practical nurse at Arden Hill Life Care Center in Goshen, died Sunday, May 8, 2005, at the Horton campus of the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, after fighting a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was 39 years of age.
The daughter of Richard Zecchini Sr. and the late Dorothy Nolan Zecchini, she was born March 6, 1966, in Suffern.
She was a graduate of Albertus Magnus High School in Bardonia, where she was a cheerleader and a Girl Scout. She received her LPN at Ulster County Community College’s Vo-tech Program in Port Ewen. She was raised in Spring Valley.
In a family statement, it was said, “Pat was a devoted and loving mother and wife who loved life and had a spirit and smile that touched everyone who knew her. Patty is deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew her.”
Mrs. Floor is survived by her husband, Carl Joseph Floor, and five children, Sean Michael, Carl Joseph Jr. “CJ,” Latea Marie, Stephanie Lynn and Danielle Patricia, all at home; her father of Middletown; three siblings and their spouses, Kathy and Jeff Steinberg of New City, Maryellen and Dan Scott of Goshen, and Richard Jr. and Maureen Zecchini of Rockland County; her mother-in-law, Latea Floor, and brothers-in-law, Edward Floor and William Floor Jr. and his wife, Maureen; and seveal nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends may call at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan St., Wurtboro, on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. on Thursday at St. John the Evangelist Church, 71 Murray Ave., Goshen, with Fr. Frank Bassett officiating.
Burial wil be made in the Hamptonburgh Cemetery in Campbell Hall.
Memorial contributions may be made to a fund to benefit her children and can be addressed to the Floor Family, P.O. Box 363, Westbrookville, N.Y. 12785 or to the American Cancer Society, 419 East Main St., Suite 307B, Middletown, N.Y. 10940.

For Isami ‘Sam’ Kashiwagi

A memorial service for Isami “Sam” Kashiwagi of Mileses, who died January 6, 2005, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Holy Cross Church, Route 97, Callicoon with Fr. Ignatius Smith officiating.
A longtime area resident, Sam was an artist, beekeeper and a hatchery owner.

Deanna Olsen-Tyrrell
RN, 50

Deanna Olsen-Tyrrell of Mason, Mich., died Thursday, May 12, 2005. She was 50 years of age.
The daughter of Harvey and Eleanor Kohl Olsen, she was born May 25, 1954, in Callicoon.
A graduate of the Delaware Valley Central School, in Callicoon, Mrs. Olsen-Tyrrell graduated at the top of her nursing class from The Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.
In a family statement, it was said, “Deanna was a loving mother and friend and enjoyed her animals, gardens, playing on her computer and watching her sons’ achievements.”
She is survived by sons, Benjamin and Kohl Tyrrell, her friend and former husband, Michael Tyrrell; her parents of Hortonville; a sister and brother-in-law, Georgia and Robert Lyons; a niece and a nephew.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at the Gorsline-Runciman Ball-Dunn Chapel in Mason, Minn.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society, 2095 W. Grand River Ave., Lansing, Mich.

Albert C. Hiller
Ret. Lineman, 77

Albert C. Hiller of Narrowsburg, a retired lineman with NYSEG for 39 years and a lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, May 18, 2005, at his home. He was 77 years of age.
The son of the late LeRoy and Laura Young Hiller, he was born July 15, 1927, in Beach Lake, Pa.
A World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, he served as a Corporal. Mr. Hiller was a member of the Quarter Century Club of NYSEG and a former member of the Narrowsburg Fire Department.
In a family statement, it was said, “Al loved his family and life. He will be greatly missed.”
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Irma Gustafson Hiller, at home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Terry Hiller of Conklin and Fred and Karen Hiller of Rileyville, Pa.; a daughter, Alice “Sam” Miller of Narrowsburg; two brothers, Peter Hiller of Atlanta, Ga., and Darryl Hiller and his wife, Mary, of Beach Lake, Pa.; a sister and brother-in-law, Leota and Jack Westbrook of Starucca, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Betty Hiller of North Wales, Pa.; four grandchildren, Kara and Erin Hiller and Christopher and Bryan Miller; a step-granddaughter, Tracy Lamberton and her husband, Paul; five Lamberton great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Norman Hiller, and two sisters, Marge Smith and Theola Lotsey.
Friends may call at the Rasmussen Funeral Home in Narrowsburg on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Phyllis Haynes officiating.
Cremation will be made at the Maple Hill Crematory in Archbald, Pa.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Tusten Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Narrowsburg, N.Y. 12764 or to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY. 12550.

Margaret Evans
Ret. Nurse’s Aide, 84

Margaret Ruth Cushing Evans of Wurtsboro, a retired nurse’s aide for the New York State Psychiatric Hospital in Middletown, died Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at the Horton campus of the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. She was 84 years of age.
The daughter of the late Percival and Florence Cushing, she was born March 23, 1921, in Middletown.
Mrs. Evans was a member of the Community Church of Wurtsboro and a member of the Middletown Seniors Association.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Martin W. Evans, at home; a son, William J. Evans of Montgomery; two sisters, Eleanor Cushing of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Dorothy Cushing of Milford, Conn.; two grandchildren, William Jr. and his wife, Stacey Evans, and Michelle; two great-grandchildren, Samantha and Charlotte; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Jerry B. Evans, a daughter, Jennifer Evans, and two brothers, Ralph Cushing and William Cushing.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan St., Wurtsboro, with the Rev. Robert Schwander officiating.
Burial will be made in the Sylvan Cemetery in Wurtsboro.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Jerry Brian Evans Memorial Scholarship Fund, Wurtsboro, N.Y. 12790.

Ralph A. Prince
Ret. Tel Installer, 79

Ralph A. Prince of Harris, a retired installer for the New York Telephone Co. in Monticello, died Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at his home. He was 79 years of age.
The son of the late Clarence A. and Margaret T. Thomas Prince, he was born October 25, 1925, in Harris. He was the widower of Mary O’Dowd who died May 14, 2002.
A World War II Navy veteran, he was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of American-Kingston Chapter, the Hagen Hunting Club and a very active member of Liberty Lodge #521, Free and Accepted Masons, in Liberty. He was the recipient of the Masonic Distinguished Service Award in 2003.
He is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Mary Prince of Canandaigua and George and Joan Prince of Florence, S.C.; two nephews, Edward Rock and James Prince; and two nieces, Anne M. Corrigall and Mary Frances Prince-Walter. He was predeceased by a son, Raymond, two brothers, Lawrence T. Prince and Raymond A. Prince; and two sisters, Ann Russell and Margaret Rock.
Funeral services were held Thursday at the Ramsay’s Funeral Home in Monticello with the Rev. Robert Pinto officiating.
Interment was made in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Monticello.

Barbara McNamara
Factory Employee, 63

Barbara Ann McNamara of Middletown, an employee of Hertzberg Brush factory in Middletown, died Sunday, May 15, 2005, at her home. She was 63 years of age.
The daughter of the late Edward and Martha Decker Bunton, she was born August 15, 1941, in Middletown.
Mrs. McNamara was a volunteer at the Middletown Soup Kitchen as well as with the PTA while her children were growing up.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas McNamara, at home; three children, Donna McNamara and her fiance, David Monroe, of Middletown, Toni McNamara and her fiance, Mario Moline Sr., of Monticello; and Thomas McNamara Jr. of Middletown; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Doolittle of Greenville; ten grandchildren, Crystal, Ashley, Mario, Alex, Marcus, Nicholas, David, Kayla, Michael and Jordan; a brother, Charles Bunton of Florida; two sisters, Elsie Condito of Florida and Mary Arena of Middletown; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Dennis Baker, and a grandson, Dennis Baker Jr.
Funeral services were held Thursday at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home in Middletown.
Burial was made in the Hillside Cemetery in Middletown.
