Genevieve Reiss
Homemaker, 88

Genevieve "Jean" Reiss of Port Jervis, a lifelong area resident, died Friday, March 17, 2000, at Mercy Community Hospital in Port Jervis. She was 88 years of age.
The daughter of the late John and Mariann Bytello Wojtowicz, she was born March 1, 1912, in Johnson, N.Y.
Mrs. Reiss was a member of St. Stanislaus R.C. Church in Pine Island, the Greenville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, the Greenville Leisure Seniors Club, the Slate Hill Pacers and the Mercy Community Hospital Auxiliary.
In a family statement, it was said, "Her greatest joy in life was her children and her family; and for being there to help others in need."
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Roberta M. and Joseph Fleischer of Monticello and Jeanne L. and Robert Harford of Greenville; four sons and three daughters-in-law, John and Cathy Burke of Chicago, Ill., Frank and Roxanne DiCarlo of Port Jervis, Ronald and Linda Warren of Monticello and Albert Osuna of the state of Florida; a sister, Anna Wontz Banach of Port Jervis; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Kopple.
A Mass of the Resurrection was offered Monday at St. Stanislaus R.C. Church in Pine Island with the Rev. Joaquim J. Oldendzki officiating.
Burial was made in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Pine Island.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus R.C. Church, Box 246, Pine Island, N.Y. 10969; the Port Jervis Volunteer Ambulance Corps, P.O. Box 133, Port Jervis, N.Y. 12771; or to the charity of one's choice.

Anthony F. Galietta Sr.
Retired Field Rep., 87

Anthony F. Galietta Sr. of Middletown, a retired president and field representative for Laborers Union Local 17, Newburgh, died Saturday, March 18, 2000, at the Horton Medical Center in Middletown. He was 87 years of age.
The son of the late Antonio and Anne Capici Galietta, he was born April 1, 1912, in Newburgh.
Mr. Galietta was a past president, vice president, trustee and trustee emeritus of the Health and Welfare Fund of Laborers Union Local 17 of Newburgh; a past president of the Local 17 Retirees Association; co-founder and past president of the Past Time Athletic Club in Newburgh; a member of the City of Newburgh Softball Hall of Fame Selection Committee; a member of Mount Carmel Church in Middletown; a retired secretary/treasurer for the Railroad Maintenance and Way Union of the New York Central Railroad; a former board member of the Newburgh Pop Warner Football League.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Covart Galietta, at home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony Jr. and Margaret Galietta of Saco, Me., and Patrick and Kelly Galietta; two step-sons, Alan and his wife, Cindy Wingert, of Monticello and Dale Wingert and friend, Kathy, of Bethel; two daughters and sons-in-law, Anne and Gene Lawrence of Newburgh, and Gail and John Johnston of Leesburg, Ga.; a step-daughter and her husband, Carla and Jack Shafer of Glen Spey; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Louis and Salvatore "Tootie" Galietta.
Friends may call at the Coloni Funeral Home in New Windsor on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church, Robinson Ave., Newburgh.
Interment will be made in the Cedar HiIl Cemetery in Newburgh.

Robert Simon, 56
Ret. Machine Operator

Robert Simon of Youngsville, a retired machine operator at Reynolds Metals in Middletown, died Sunday, March 19, 2000, at the Albany Medical Center in Albany. He was 56 years of age.
The son of the late Benjamin and Isabel Johnstone Simon, he was born June 3, 1943, in the Bronx.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Colossi Simon, at home; four sons, Robert A. Simon of Jeffersonville, David Simon of Liberty, Michael Simon of Loch Sheldrake and James Simon of Liberty; and seven grandsons, Adam, Sal, John, Nicholas, Julian, Alexander and Donovan Simon.
There will be no visitation.
Cremation will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Simon family.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville.

Helen Truckenbrodt
Ret. Medical Clerk, 93

Helen E. Truckenbrodt of Narrowsburg, a retired medical clerk for Metropolitan Life Insurance in New York City and a 29-nine year area resident, died Saturday, March 18, 2000, at the Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, Pa.
The daughter of the late Richard and Elizabeth Rohrbecker Precht, she was born February 18, 1907, in the Bronx. She was the widow of Frederick Truckenbrodt who died in 1961.
Mrs. Truckenbrodt was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Tusten Senior Citizens, both in Narrowsburg.
She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Christon of Narrowsburg and Louise Wiley of Milanville, Pa.; a son, Arthur Truckenbrodt of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Bertha Gavlyak of Elmont; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call at the Rasmussen Sons Funeral Home in Narrowsburg on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Narrowsburg with the Rev. Phyllis Haynes officiating.
Burial will be made at 1 p.m. in the Flushing Cemetery in Flushing.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, Narrowsburg, N.Y. 12764.

Frances Lupo, 95
Ret. Pharmacist

March 28, 2000 -- Frances Lupo of Youngsville, a retired pharmacist and a 19-year area resident, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at the Roscoe Community Nursing Home. She was 95 years of age.
The daughter of Maria and Sebastian Lo Presti, she was born February 6, 1905, in Messina, Italy. She was the widow of Dr. Domenic Lupo.
Mrs. Lupo grew up in New York City and Long Branch, N.J.
She graduated from Columbia University School of Pharmacy in 1928. She had also worked as a fragrance and cosmetic consultant for Saks Fifth Avenue for 14 years and later as a real estate broker both in New Jersey and New York.
She is survived by a daughter, Maria Lupo Grimaldi of Youngsville; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Julia Grimaldi, both of Boston, Mass.; a granddaughter-in-law, Stephanie Levine Grimaldi of Boston, Mass.; and a great-grandchild, Matthew Grimaldi of Boston, Mass.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Francis Church in Youngsville.
Burial was made in Calvary Cemetery in Youngsville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Roscoe Community Nursing Home, 12776; the Youngsville Firemen's Auxiliary, Youngsville, N.Y. 12791; or to the Jeffersonville Ambulance Corps, Jeffersonville, N.Y. 12748.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville.

Melvin R. Kracht
Ret. Truck Driver, 80

Melvin R. Kracht of Woodbourne, a retired truck driver for Local 445 in Newburgh and a lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, March 22, 2000, at the Grover M. Hermann Division of Community General Hospital in Callicoon. He was 80 years of age.
The son of the late Willard and Hattie Avery Kracht, he was born September 14, 1919, in Neversink.
A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of Local 445; a past commander of Bailey-Richmond Post No. 9588, Veterans of Foreign Wars, in Monticello; a member of the Sgt. Andrew Brucher Post No. 5499, VFW, in White Lake; a member of the Monticello (BPOE) Elks Lodge #1545; and a former member of the Sullivan County Conservative Committee.
Mr. Kracht is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janice Porter Kracht, at home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald M. and Janis Kracht of Louisville, Kty., and Thomas and Linda Kracht of Pascagoula, Miss.; a brother, Robert Kracht of Hurleyville; three sisters, Marion Stackhouse of Neversink, Gertrude Miller and Edith Kracht, both of Napanoch; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Sandra Kracht.
Services were held Sunday at the Ramsay's Funeral Home in Liberty with the Rev. Paul Reuter officiating, followed by burial of the cremains at the Rural Cemetery in Grahamsville.

Vera Davis Bailey,
Retiree of NY Tel, 88

Vera Davis Bailey of Livingston Manor, a retired employee of the maintenance department of New York Telephone Company in Monticello and a lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at the Roscoe Community Nursing Home. She was 88 years of age.
The daughter of the late Charles A. and Mary E. Davis Christle, she was born May 13, 1911, in DeBruce. She was the widow of Roy Bailey who died in 1971.
Mrs. Bailey was a member of the New York Telephone Pioneers Kingston Chapter and various other civic organizations.
She is survived by three sons, Joseph Davis of Groton, Vt., Lloyd Davis of Neptune, N.J., and Jules Davis of Livingston Manor; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, Gerald W. and Leo Davis, two daughters, Mary Horvath and Shirilene Davis, three sisters and a brother.
Cremation was made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
Private funeral services and burial were held.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Ramsay's Funeral Home in Liberty.

Irene M. Fimognari
Retired Secretary, 70

Irene M. Fimognari of Kauneonga Lake, a homemaker, a retired personal secretary to the business manager of Monticello Central Schools and a 30-year area resident, died Saturday, March 25, 2000, at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty. She was 70 years of age.
The daughter of the late Frank and Pauline Gobel Podest, she was born December 25, 1929, in New York City.
Mrs. Fimognari was a member of St. Peter's R.C. Church in Liberty, a past president of the Bethel Republican Club and a member of the Sullivan County Cooperative Extension.
She is survived by her husband, Albert W. Fimognari Sr., at home; two sons, Albert W. Fimognari Jr. of Smallwood and Robert Fimognari of Limerick, Pa.; a daughter, Therese Fimognari of Liberty; a sister, Joan Oktavec of Higganum, Conn.; and 11 grandchildren.
Services were followed by private burial in the Evergreen Cemetery in Bethel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Institute, 1275 York Ave., New York, N.Y. 10022.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Ramsay's Funeral Home in Kauneonga Lake.
