Lima
AUDREY K. SMITH, 93, died at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 18, 2004, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 25, 1910, in Hope, Ark., to Martin Van and Elizabeth Breeding Derryberry, who preceded her in death. On Aug. 25, 1936, she married Ronald L. "Red" Smith, who died Feb. 1, 1996.
Mrs. Smith had worked at Curtis Publishing Co. and part-time at J.C. Penney Co. She was a member of Shawnee United Methodist Church, where she had been a Sunday school teacher and a member of its Church Women United and R&R Circle. She was a 55-year member of the Shawnee Women's Society and had been presented a special membership. She was a member of Chapter 16 Order of Eastern Star and the YWCA. She had helped with Head Start at Allen County Children's Home and had been a 4-H adviser in Hempstead County, Ark. She was a graduate of Blevins High School, Blevins, Ark., and Henderson Teachers College, Arkadelphia, Ark.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary E. (Fred) Oshiro of Honolulu, and Martha (Bob) Wallace of Lima; a brother, George Derryberry of Lima; and five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Vera Reeves and Naomi Patrick; and three brothers, Harry H., Quentin M. and Van W. Derryberry.
Services will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at Siferd Funeral Home, Westwood Chapel. The Rev. Dr. Joseph Bishman will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Mendon
JOHN B. "BEN" VORHEES, 69, died at 4:09 p.m. Aug. 18, 2004, at Van Wert County Hospital, Van Wert.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Mendon. The Rev. Dr. Paul Bunnell will officiate. Burial will be in Mendon cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Lima
LELAND H. BRENNEMAN, 92, of Plymouth, Vt., formerly of Lima, died Oct. 1, 2004, at Mountain View Center, Rutland, Vt.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Salem Mennonite Church, Elida. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Leipsic
OPAL POWELL MORRIS DANGLER, 100, died at 8:12 a.m. Nov. 18, 2004, at Leipsic Retirement Village.
She was born Oct. 17, 1904, in Wood County to Francis E. and Ida Mae Shafer Powell, who preceded her in death. On Sept. 19, 1923, she married John Morris, who died Jan. 18, 1961. She then married Homer Dangler, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Dangler had been a teller at Corn City Bank, Deshler, a lab technician at Libby's-McNeil, Leipsic, an area reporter for the Toledo Blade and secretary/treasurer for the Putnam County Library. She was a member of First Christian Church, Leipsic, where she was secretary for the church board. She had been a 4-H adviser for 17 years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, where she had served as worthy matron and was secretary for several years. She had served as a clerk for the Putnam County Library board. She was a graduate of Deshler High School.
Survivors include four daughters, Constance (William) Plassman and Joanne (Lowell) Schey, both of Leipsic, Marilyn (Orie) McDougle of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Shirley (John) Linhart of Findlay; and nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, Charles, Ross, Lincoln, Clyde, Dewey and Edward Powell; and three sisters, Capitola Newcomer, Lodema Newell and Nanna Ward.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Christian Church, Leipsic. The Rev. Tim Eding will officiate. Burial will be in Sugar Ridge cemetery, Leipsic.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Love Funeral Home, Leipsic, and one hour prior to services Sunday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church or Leipsic Retirement Village.

Celina
DOLORES M. DWENGER, 80, died Nov. 17, 2004, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Celina. Father Richard R. Riedel will officiate. Burial will be in St. Marys cemetery, Celina.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 9 to 10:15 a.m. Monday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina.

Celina
LESTER J. EBRIGHT Sr., 82, died at 11:50 a.m. Nov. 17, 2004, at his residence.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina. The Rev. Bruce Head will officiate. Burial will be in Swamp College cemetery, Celina.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Celina Area Visiting Nurses & Hospice or PSA 3 Agency on Aging.

Lima
JAMES ELLIS ELROD, 74, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., formerly of Lima, died Oct. 24, 2004, at Conway Medical Center, Conway, S.C.
He was born Jan. 27, 1930, in Paoli, Ind., to Norman Bryce and Margarite Burgess Elrod, who preceded him in death. His stepmother, Jetta Leonard, survives. His wife, Barbara Jean Elrod, preceded him in death.
Mr. Elrod retired in 1969 from the Navy, after 21 years. He had also lived in Milford, Conn.
Survivors include two sons, James S. Elrod and Dennis N. (Theresa) Elrod; a brother, David (Barbara) Elrod; a sister, Donna (John) Krech; a stepsister, Suzie (Larry) Inskeep; two stepbrothers, Ted (Linda) Jones and Rick Jones; a sister-in-law, Dinah Elrod; six grandchildren, Amanda, Michelle, James, Teresa, Emma and Dennis Elrod; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Norman Max Elrod; his father- and mother-in-law, Stephen and Elizabeth Boros; and a brother-in-law, Lance E. Boros.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Ambrose Church, Bridgeport, Conn.
Friends may call at a luncheon following services Saturday at Vazzy's Restaurant, Bridgeport, Conn.

Bluffton
ESTHER M. JONES, 92, died at 1 a.m. Nov. 18, 2004, at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Bluffton.
She was born Dec. 20, 1911, in Fostoria to Charles E. and Irene Madelle Shank Stateler, who preceded her in death. On Feb. 19, 1936, she married Homer A. Jones, who died Nov. 25, 1977.
Mrs. Jones was a homemaker. She was a member of First Missionary Church, Bluffton. She was a member of Putnam County Farmers Union and the Bluffton Senior Citizens.
Survivors include two sons, Gordon D. Jones of Cloverdale and Norman L. Jones of Ottawa; a daughter, Linda (Melvin) Borton of Ottawa; a sister, Ruth Stover of Findlay; a brother-in-law, Allen Fenimore of Findlay; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Stateler of Findlay; and four stepgrandchildren, 12 stepgreat-grandchildren and three stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Royal Stateler; and three sisters, Alta Russell, Juliana Williams and Alma Fenimore.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. The Rev. Gary D. Marks will officiate. Burial will be in Truro cemetery, Columbus Grove.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

AUDREY LINK died at 3:05 p.m. Nov. 18, 2004, at St. Rita's Medical Center.

DRAMAYNE WYDELL LYLES, 22, died Nov. 14, 2004.

MABEL E. NEFF McCARTY, 101, died the morning of Nov. 17, 2004, at her residence.
She was born May 26, 1903, in Allen County to J. Henry and Anna Bussert Neff, who preceded her in death. On June 20, 1925, she married Roy R. McCarty, who died Aug. 5, 1986.
Mrs. McCarty retired in 1961 as a schoolteacher for Elida Local and Lima city schools. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She was a member of the National Teachers Association, Allen County Teachers Association, the YWCA Widows Support Group and the Lima Senior Citizens. She was a 1921 graduate of Gomer High School, a 1923 graduate of Bowling Green State University and did her graduate work at The Ohio State University.
Survivors include a nephew, Kenneth (Jeanette) Hall of Harrod; a cousin, Bill (Joanne) Reese of Gomer; and several other cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel. Dr. Daniel Curtis will officiate. Burial will be in Pike Run cemetery, Gomer.
Friends may call one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
