Leipsic
JAMES H. ELLERBROCK, 87, died at 1:17 a.m. Oct. 17, 2005, at Putnam Acres Care Center, Ottawa.
He was born March 1, 1918, in New Cleveland to John and Frances Schroeder Ellerbrock, who preceded him in death. On June 6, 1940, he married Alvina Schmenk, who died April 14, 2001.
Mr. Ellerbrock worked at Ellerbrock Monuments for 50 years, had been a school bus driver of Leipsic schools, a custodian for St. Mary's Parish and a farmer. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Leipsic, and it Holy Name Society and the choir. He was a past grand knight and district deputy of Knights of Columbus Council 1757, Ottawa, and a 4th degree Pope Leo 13th Assembly Knights of Columbus and a past navigator. He was a member of the Glandorf Rod & Gun Club, the Leipsic Chamber of Commerce and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2793, Leipsic. He was a social member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9547, Leipsic.
Survivors include two sons, Bill (Joan) Ellerbrock of Leipsic and James (Marianne) Ellerbrock of Glandorf; three daughters, Patricia Kreinbrink of Leipsic and Audrey (Orville) Verhoff and Kathleen "Kay" (Ralph) Herman, both of Ottawa; 23 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert (Imogene) Ellerbrock and Harold (Doris) Ellerbrock, both of Ottawa; and four sisters, Betty Smith of New Bavaria, Dolores Bockrath of Kalida and Alberta (Tom) Ruhe and Jane (Norbert) Bockrath, both of Glandorf.
He was preceded in death by a grandchild; two brothers, Andrew and Karl Ellerbrock; a sister, Margaret Kerner; and a son-in-law, Robert Kreinbrink.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Leipsic. Father George Wenzinger will officiate. Burial will be in St. John cemetery, Glandorf.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Love Funeral Home, Leipsic, where a K. of C. rosary and a 4th degree service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Putnam Acres Care Center or St. Mary's School.

Delphos
MARY E. GOODWIN, 68, died at 11:44 p.m. Oct. 16, 2005, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 12, 1936, in Coldwater to Andy and Lela Kincaid Black, who preceded her in death. On Aug. 27, 1954, she married Carl Lee Goodwin, who died Dec. 29, 1996.
Mrs. Goodwin was a homemaker and had retired as a nurse from Auglaize Acres Nursing Home, Wapakoneta. She was a member of First Christian Union Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, camping and collecting cows.
Survivors include three sons, Gary Goodwin Sr. of Delphos, Larry (Linda) Goodwin of Dublin and Joe (Mary Lou) Goodwin of Delphos; a daughter, Brenda Goodwin of Ottoville; three sisters, Karen Ross of Wabash, Helen Woodward of Laquard, Mo., and Lulubelle Jeffries of Celina; a brother, Johnny Black of Celina; a special friend, Don Andrews; and nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Jamie Black.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Harter & Schier Funeral Home, Delphos. The Rev. Ron Drage will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Grove cemetery, Delphos.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Lima
EDNA MAE HARRINGTON, 83, died at 8:51 a.m. Oct. 16, 2005, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 18, 1921, in Lima to George Urban and Amanda Elizabeth Meyerhoffer Kolhoff, who preceded her in death. On Aug. 3, 1946, she married John E. "Gene" Harrington, who died Sept. 9, 2001.
Mrs. Harrington had worked at Ohio Steel during World War II, for Ohio Power, Lennox Furnace and at the St. Gerard Rectory. She was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church and its Altar Rosary Society and the Daughters of Isabella-Our Lady of Fatima Circle 180. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 Auxiliary. She was a 1939 graduate of St. John's High School, Lima. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and sister, who was quick witted and had a keen sense of humor. She enjoyed family gatherings, vacations at the lake and watching Mother Angelica on EWTN.
Survivors include three children, Karen Anne (Harry) Miller and Diane Sue (Jim) Penn, both of Lima, and Brad Eugene (Patty) Harrington of Aurora; five grandchildren, Courtney D. (Jeff) Neal, Brian P. Penn, Todd D. Miller, Lucas A. Harrington and Jacquelyn Harrington; a sister, Mildred L. Kolhoff of Lima; and two nephews, Larry Prueter of Columbus and Dennis Prueter of Lima.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Elmer W. Kolhoff; a sister, Juliette M. Kolhoff; and a sister-in-law, DeLourdes (Leon) Prueter.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Gerard Catholic Church. Father Jim McDonald will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp-Weber Funeral Home, where a parish wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Ohio City
CHARLES WILLIAM KNOLL, 85, died at 10:45 a.m. Oct. 17, 2005, in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert. The Rev. Steve Waterman will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery, Ohio City.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Olive Branch Church of God.

Columbus Grove
LESTER ALLEN SEMER, 89, of Niota, Tenn., formerly of Columbus Grove, died Oct. 16, 2005, at Sweetwater Hospital, Sweetwater, Tenn.
He was born to Charles Allen and Emma Bertha Myers Semer, who preceded him in death. He married Hazel Hill, who died in December 1994.
Mr. Semer attended Rockview Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Battle of the Bulge. He moved to McMinn County, Tenn., in 1965, then moved to Jefferson City, Tenn., for 15 years, before moving back to McMinn County.
Survivors include three sisters-in-law, Ruth Semer of Ottawa, Elenor Semer of Ohio and Frances Semer of Boston; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Eddie and Larry McCosh.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Kenneth and Albert Semer.
Services will begin at 7 p.m. today at Ziegler Funeral Home, Athens, Tenn. The Revs. Chad Hester and Delbert Umphrey will officiate. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Foster cemetery, with military rites.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. until time of services today at the funeral home.

Van Wert
JERRY O. STEMEN, 61, died at 3:41 p.m. Oct. 16, 2005, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Friends Church, Van Wert. The Revs. John Perkins, Neil Hammons and Gerald Baker will officiate. Burial will be in King cemetery, Middle Point.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
Contributions may be made to Trinity Friends Church building fund or the American Heart Association.

Ada
WALTER JUNIOR BUSHONG, 70, died at 5:05 p.m. Oct. 21, 2005, at Beverly Health Care, Lima.
He was born Nov. 16, 1934, in Lima to Walter Warren and Bernice Lewis Bushong, who preceded him in death. On July 28, 1961, he married Barbara R. Engle, who survives in Ada.
Mr. Bushong retired from the custodian department at Ohio Northern University. He attended Mount Zion Baptist Church, Harrod. He was a member of the McGuffey Conservation Club, Hog Creek Game Club and Ada Senior Citizens.
Survivors include a son, Bill Bushong of Dola; a daughter, Merle "Lou" (Donald) DeWitt of Ada; five sisters, Ruth Sheets of Decatur, Ind., Helen Walker and Pat Nigh, both of Lima, Betty (Emil) Gratz of Danbury, Wis., and Julia (Bill) McClain of Beaverdam; mother-in-law Mildred Engle of Harrod; sister-in-law Anita (Jerry) Marshall of Harrod; several nieces and nephews; and six grandchildren and a great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry, Ray and Eddie Bushong; a sister, Norma Burkholder; father-in-law Oren E. Engle; and six brothers-in-law, Philip Engle, Carl Sheets, Chuck Ridenour, Ralph Walker, Robert Nigh and Roger Klinger.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada. The Rev. Wanda Werking will officiate. Burial will be in Salem cemetery, Westminster.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and until time of services Wednesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ada Visiting Nurses & Hospice, the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.
