Cridersville
KATHRYN J. "KATE" KIRCHNER, 74, died at 1:05 p.m. Dec. 8, 2003, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 29, 1929, in Lima to Lyle and Madelin Marie Glenn Curry, who preceded her in death. On Feb. 6, 1953, she married Harold Dean Kirchner, who survives in Cridersville.
Mrs. Kirchner was a homemaker and had been a secretary at Brown Supply Co. and Westinghouse Electric Corp. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8445 Auxiliary, Wapakoneta.
Survivors also include a son, Steve Kirchner of Cedar Crest, N.M.; a daughter, Sally (Brian) Longworth of Cridersville; a brother, Bob (JoAnn) Curry of Ypsilanti, Mich.; two sisters, Virginia Myers of Rome, Ga., and Georgia (Bernie) Meece of Lexington, Ky.; and five grandchildren, Nate, Matt and Jamie Cummins and Traci and Jesse Kirchner.
She was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth (Bill) Purcell.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. The Rev. Bernie Meece will officiate. Burial will be in Shawnee cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Wapakoneta
GORDON W. MISCH, 78, died at 8:20 p.m. Dec. 6, 2003, at St. Rita's Medical Center after the car he was driving accidentally submerged in a pond.
He was born Nov. 14, 1925, in Rocky Ridge to Wilfrid A. and Lydia M. Brecklen Misch, who preceded him in death. On Oct. 1, 1949, he married Jean L. Sieck, who survives.
Mr. Misch began working with Superior Coach Corp., Lima, in 1949. In 1951, he transferred to Kosciusko, Miss., and worked there as controller until 1973. While in Mississippi, he was a member and past president of the Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Kosciusko Municipal Schools board of education and a member of the Rotary Club. He returned to Sheller Globe Corp., Lima, in 1973, and served as vice president of finance with Superior Coaches until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of First English Lutheran Church, Wapakoneta, where he had served on the church council. He had served on the board of directors of the Lima Family YMCA for eight years and served as its treasurer for four years. He was a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 1170, Wapakoneta, was a former member of the Lima Rotary Club and was a volunteer at Lima Memorial Hospital. He was a graduate of Lima Central High School and Wittenberg University, where he was a member of Alpha Omega Fraternity. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II.
Survivors also include three daughters, Leslie J. Misch of Atlanta, Ann L. (fiancé Dan Hubler) Misch of Sidney and Nancy L. (Garry) Welch of Milford; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Sieck of Toledo.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First English Lutheran Church, Wapakoneta. The Rev. Steven Nelson will officiate. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Harris-Elmore Union cemetery, Elmore.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, Wapakoneta, and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to First English Lutheran Church Building Fund or the Shawnee Township Fire and Rescue.

St. Marys
ROBERT PAUL MITCHELL, 85, of Ashland, formerly of St. Marys, died Dec. 8, 2003, at Samaritan Regional Health System Hospital.
He was born March 4, 1918, in Spencerville to Robert and Gladys Moorman Mitchell, who preceded him in death. On Aug. 11, 1945, he married Mary Doughty, who survives.
Mr. Mitchell was a chemical engineer for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. working six years in Ashland and 25 years in St. Marys. He had been a member of St. Marys Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Church of Savannah. He was a member of American Legion Post 88. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving with the chemical division. He had been a resident of Ashland County since 1970 and a resident of Lutheran Village for a year and a half.
Survivors also include a sister, Ruth Browning of Sun City, Ariz.; a stepbrother, Kenneth Mitchell; and a stepsister, Mary Davenport.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Heyl Funeral Home, Ashland. The Rev. Richard Wallace will officiate. Burial will be in Ashland County Memorial Park, with military rites by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.
Friends may call one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.

Lima
JAMES ALONZO PATTERSON Sr., 70, died at 4:31 p.m. Dec. 7, 2003, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
He was born Dec. 4, 1933, in Lima to Floyd and Mildred Ralston Patterson, who preceded him in death. On Sept. 29, 1956, he married Carolyn Downhour, who survives in Lima.
Mr. Patterson had been a produce manager for Pangles for 37 years and for Rays for 15 years. He was currently a courier for Daley, Balyeat and Leahy. He was a member of South Side Christian Church. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370 and United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1199. He was a 1953 graduate of Lima South High School. He loved sports.
Survivors also include two sons, James Alonzo Patterson Jr. and William Scott (Lisa) Patterson, both of Lima; a daughter, Mary Margaret (Mark) Butler of Dayton; two brothers, Dennis (Sally) Patterson of Lima and Bill Patterson of Columbus; two sisters, Barbara (Robert) Freytag of Alger and Ethel (Phil) Briggs of Celina; eight grandchildren, Sarah Patterson, Evan Butler, Stacey Patterson, Eric Butler, Dustin Bowman, Aaron Patterson, Ryan Patterson and Emma Patterson; and a great-granddaughter, Natalie Patterson.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Floyd Patterson Jr.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Douglas E. Adams will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to South Side Christian Church, 3300 South Side Drive, Lima, OH 45805, or the charity of the donor's choice.

Van Wert
ROBERT LEON PEASE, 55, died at 12:40 a.m. Dec. 9, 2003, at Van Wert County Hospital.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Pentecostal Bethlehem Tabernacle Church, Van Wert. The Rev. Russell Lawrence will officiate. Burial will be in Middle Creek cemetery, Grover Hill.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Lima
EVERETT CHRISTIAN PETERS, 77, died at 7:15 p.m. Dec. 7, 2003, at his residence.
He was born June 3, 1926, in Sugar Creek Township, Allen County, to Henry D. and Alta Miller Peters, who preceded him in death. On March 6, 1949, he married Mildred Suzanne Flory, who survives.
Mr. Peters was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of Old German Baptist Brethren.
Survivors also include four sons, Lynn (Sharon) Peters of Bringhurst, Ind., and Loren (Diane) Peters, Mark (Kris) Peters and Mike (Kim) Peters, all of Elida; a daughter, Mary Helen (Norm) Filbrun of Anderson, Ind.; a brother, Lloyd W. (Mary Alice) Peters of Elida; a stepbrother, Alan (Virginia) Miller of Covington; a sister, Laura (Elmer) Robinson of Lima; a stepsister, Marie Stevens of Sidney; a brother-in-law, David (Donnabelle) Flory of Rossville, Ind.; three sisters-in-law, Virginia Peters of Bradford, Esther (Ralph) Flora of Covington and Carol Flory of Rossville, Ind.; and 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence H. Peters; a stepbrother-in-law, Don Stevens; a sister-in-law, Catherine Peters; and his stepmother, Eva Miller Peters.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Ash Grove Old German Baptist Brethren. The Home Brethren will officiate. Burial will be in Ash Grove cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel, where a prayer service will be held at 9:15 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita's Hospice or the Elida Rescue Squad.

Lima
RUTHIE MAY PITTS, 80, died at 9:45 p.m. Dec. 7, 2003, at her residence.
She was born July 27, 1923, in Greenwood, Miss., to Tommy Caradine and Josephine Wall, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Pitts was a homemaker. She was a member of Cornerstone Harvest Church.
Survivors include four sons, William E. Pitts of Los Angeles, John H. Pitts and Tommy (Loraine) Pitts, both of Lima, and Walter A. Pitts of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; three daughters, Betty J. (Forest) Anderson and Naomi Martin, both of Lima, and Carolyn F. (André) Spikes of Columbus; three brothers, James (Pat) Wall Jr., Blevin Wall and George Wall, all of Lima; a sister, Jessica (James) Bratton of Los Angeles; and 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Pitts; a son-in-law, Ronnie Martin; and three sisters, Queen Esther James, Easter "Honey" Smith and Mary Reynolds.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Cornerstone Harvest Church. The Rev. David Roberts will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn cemetery Mausoleum.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Jones-Clark Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.
