Dennis Lee Rosser
Died: Saturday, June 28, 2003
Age: 67

RADCLIFF - Dennis Lee Rosser, 67, of Radcliff, formerly of the Athens area, went to be with the Lord early Saturday morning, June 28, 2003, at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital.

Born Jan. 4, 1936, in Albany, he was the son of the late Ernest E. and Phyllis M. Bethel Rosser. He was a 1954 graduate of Athens High School, a former employee of the Athens City School District and a U.S. Army veteran who served in Germany with the 82nd Airborne.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Priscilla Kay Whan Rosser; a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis Lee Jr. and Sarah Rosser of Radcliff; a grandson, Dennis Lee Rosser III; a granddaughter, Alyssa Dawn Rosser; sisters Sue Collins of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Pam Croston of Shade; brothers Gene Rosser of Massillon and Mark Rosser of New Marshfield; several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Helen Bethel Rosser; a grandson, Dustin Lee Rosser; a sister, Carol Rosser; and a brother, Donald Rosser.

Services will be held Wednesday, 3 p.m., at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, Athens, with Pastor Jim McFadden officiating. burial will be in South Canaan Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m.

James Mulhern
Died: Saturday, June 28, 2003
Age: 74

WELLSTON - James Mulhern, 74, of Wellston, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2003, at Holzer Medical Center of Jackson.

Born Aug. 28, 1928, in Wellston, he was the son of the late James “Tad” and Rosetta Young Mulhern. Jim was a design technologist for Martin Marietta, from which he retired in 1991 with 17 years of service. He was employed by McNally Pittsburg Manufacturing Co. in Wellston for 25 years. Jim was a 1946 graduate of Wellston High School and a past member of EUB Church in Wellston.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Hansgen Mulhern; a son, Mike (Laura) Mulhern of McMurray, Pa.; daughters Linda (Carroll) Dalton of Mason, Kathy (Kenny Sullivan) Aberts of Bidwell and Maureen (Randy Lewis) Souders of Wellston; grandchildren Michael (Meghan) Mulhern, Jenny (Abe) Loveless, Jason and Terra Dalton, Korie and Brad Aberts, and Ryan and Adam Souders; stepgrandchildren Morgan (Michelle) Sullivan and Aaron Sullivan; a brother, Bill (Mary) Mulhern of Wellston; a special sister-in-law, Betty Coon of Dayton; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m., at Ridgewood Cemetery, with Fr. Donald Maroon officiating.

Friends may call at McWilliams Funeral Home, Wellston, today from 4 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 574 S. 18th St., Columbus 43205-2906.

Leslie W. Fri
Died: Saturday, June 28, 2003
Age: 84

McARTHUR - Leslie W. Fri, 84, of McArthur, died Saturday, June 28, 2003, at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis.

Born July 1, 1918, in Swan Twp., Vinton County, he was the son of the late Ilber E. and Lenora Faulkner Fri. He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, a farmer and former agent for Nationwide Insurance.

Mr. Fri was a member of McArthur First Christian Church, where he was elder emeritus and Sunday school superintendent. He was a 1932 graduate of McArthur High School and attended Ohio University. A World War II Army veteran who served in the European Theatre, he received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a an auxiliary member of the State Highway Patrol and a former 4-H adviser. Mr. Fri was a seventh-degree member of New Plymouth, County, State and National Granges. He was a former McArthur school bus driver, a member of the Selective Service Board and National Rural Carriers, and a life member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Myrtle Keller Fri; a son, Charles E. (Charlotte) Fri of McArthur; grandchildren Carla (Lee) Rowley of Columbus and Garth Fri of McArthur; and a great-granddaughter, Aria Rowley.

Services will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m., at Garrett Funeral Home, McArthur, with the Rev. Danny Minton officiating. Burial will be in Elk Cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by Vinton County VFW Post 5299.

Friends may call at the funeral home today from 5 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to McArthur First Christian Church or Children’s Hospital, Columbus, in care of Garrett Funeral Home.

Pamelia Kelly
Died: Friday, June 27, 2003
Age: 70

MIDDLEPORT - Pamelia Kelly, 70, of Middleport, died Friday, June 27, 2003, at Pleasant Valley Hospital.

Born Nov. 2, 1932, in Paintsville, Ky., she was the daughter of Robert E. McEldowney Jr. of Charleston, W.Va., and the late Victoria Cooper McEldowney. She is survived by a son, Rick Kelly; and a daughter, Victoria Kelly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Kelly.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m., at Fisher Funeral Home, Middleport. There will be no visitation.

Kyle Kendal Frazure
Died: Friday, June 27, 2003
Age: 19

LOGAN - Kyle Kendal Frasure, 19, of Logan, died Friday, June 27, 2003.

Born Aug. 26, 1983, in Logan, he was the son of Sandi Thress Lehman and David Eric Lehman, who survive.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan, with burial in Knollwood Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Helen M. Kimball
Died: Friday, June 27, 2003
Age: 81

GLOUSTER - Helen M. Kimball, 81, of Glouster, died Friday, June 27, 2003, at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital.

Born July 31, 1921, in Athens County, she was the daughter of the late Warwick and Myrtle Arlie Higgins Greene. She was a homemaker and attended Holiness Mission of Glouster.

She is survived by daughters Janet Richardson of Delaware, Sharon Wilt of Glouster, Evelyn Wilt of Gallipolis, Charlotte Willis of Wellston, Patty Lavender of Middleport and Carolyn Wilt of Arlington; a son, John Wilt; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, John Wilt and Virgil Kimball.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Murray City, with the Rev. Jan Lavender officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster.

Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 6 to 9 p.m.

Clyde O. Harrison
Died: Thursday, June 26, 2003

MIDDLEPORT - Clyde O. Harrison, 70, of Middleport, died Thursday, June 26, 2003, at Pleasant Valley Hospital, Point Pleasant, W.Va.

Born Jan. 16, 1933, in Gallia County, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Marcia Zimmerman Harrison. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Spurlock Harrison; a son, Michael Harrison; and daughters Cathy Hereford and Vicki Ellis.

Services will be Monday, 11 a.m., at Fisher Funeral Home, Middleport. Burial will be in Miles Cemetery, Rutland.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Richard Lee Kaercher
Died: Thursday, June 26, 2003
Age: 77

NEWARK - A funeral service for Richard Lee “Dick” Kaercher, 77, of Newark, will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, with the Rev. William Rauch officiating. Burial will follow in Welsh Hills Cemetery.

Mr. Kaercher, a retired illumination engineer from the Ohio Department of Transportation, died Thursday, June 26, 2003, at Mount Carmel West Hospital, Columbus. Born May 28, 1926, in Newark, he was the son of the late Christian and Pauline Warthen Kaercher.

He was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Newark for 54 years, where he has served as Council deacon, Sunday school superintendent, property maintenance and other committees. He served in the U.S. Air Force four years during the Korean War, both in the United States and Japan.

Prior to working at ODOT, he worked 23 years at Holophane in Newark designing roadway lighting fixtures.

Mr. Kaercher was a member of the American Legion, Newark Kiwanis Club, Newark Evening Lions Club and the Illumination Engineering Society. He played in the retirees golf league at Echo Springs and was a volunteer for the Center for the Visually Impaired.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Fran Ely Kaercher; a son and daughter-in-law, Geoffrey and Jaye Kaercher of Granville; grandchildren Marcy and Matthew Kaercher; three sisters, Jean Pearse of Columbus, Sue Franz of Newark and Jo Ann (Harry) Burton of Heath; a brother-in-law, H. Arnold Goodwin; many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Newark chapel of Henderson, Van Atta and Johnston Funeral Service, 59 N. 5th St., on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., where a Newark Evening Lions Club service will be held at 5:45.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 65 N. 5th St., Newark, Ohio 43055.

Jack G. Armstrong

Age: 70

CHESTERHILL - Jack G. Armstrong, 70, of Coal Street, Chesterhill, died Thursday, June 26, 2003, at his residence.

Born Oct. 21, 1932, in Lathrop, he was the son of the late Rhuben R. and Mary Rainer Armstrong. He was a retired construction worker, a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, and a member of Bartlett Lodge 293 F&AM and Bartlett Chapter 280 OES.

He is survived by his wife, Ilo Newton Armstrong; three sons, Greg (Nancy) Armstrong of Edgewater, Ky., Gordon Armstrong of Chesterhill, and Gary and Brenda Armstrong of Stockport; a brother, Larry Armstrong of The Plains; two sisters, Mary Triplett of Chesterhill and Patricia Faris of Glouster; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be held Monday, 11 a.m., at Chesterhill Cemetery.

Friends may call at Stone-Matheney Funeral Home, Chesterhill, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where Masonic services will be held at 8:30.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chesterhill Volunteer Fire Department.
