Hazel Culwell
ALBANY - Hazel Culwell, 85, of Satsuma, Fla., formerly of Albany, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, at Putnam Hospital in Palatka, Fla.
Born Dec. 31, 1914, in Greenup County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Sarah Barber Tackett. Mrs. Culwell was a housewife.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, William Culwell; two daughters, Erma Lee (Alfred) Rice of Satsuma, Fla., and Ruby (Dwaine) Jordan of Albany; five grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and three sisters, Alkie Fraley of Ashland, Ky., Bertie Tackett of Flatwoods, Ky., and Emaline Baldridge of Wheelersburg.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, three sisters, and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home in Albany, with the Rev. Edward Jones officiating. Burial will be in Temple Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the services.

Gladys Tittle
ATHENS - Gladys M. Tittle, 98, of Athens, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at her home.
Born July 29, 1902, on Sand Ridge in Athens County, she was the daughter of the late James R. and Emma Bowman Rupe.
She is survived by a son, Dale (Margaret) Tittle, with whom she made her home; two granddaughters; two grandsons; a great-granddaughter; three great-grandsons; a great-great-granddaughter; and two great-great-grandsons.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Tittle; six daughters; an infant son; and a grandson.
Private burial was held at Hilltop Cemetery. Arrangements were by Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home in Athens.

Genevie Sheridan
ATHENS - Genevie J. Sheridan, 63, of 7190 Route 524, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000 at her residence.
She was born March 12, 1937, in Athens, daughter of the late David L. and Margaret C. Graham Blaker.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas "Jerry" Sheridan; and two daughters, Diana L. Frazier and Susan E. Sheridan.
Services will be held Thursday, 10 a.m., at Johnston-Schlabach Funeral Home in Shreve. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, 7 to 9 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Holmes County, 931 Wooster Road in Millersburg, 44654.

Garnet Mullins
ATHENS - Garnet Leona Lanning Mullins, 84, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at Hickory Creek Nursing Center, The Plains, after a long illness.
She was the daughter of Clyde and Cynthia Lanning Hook, born May 23, 1916, at Floodwood, Ohio.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, John A. Mullins. Also surviving are her devoted daughter, Jeanne, and son-in-law Allen Snyder of Columbus.
She was a loving grandma to her five grandchildren, Dianna (Al) Ellis of Columbus, Michael (Julie) Snyder of Canal Winchester, Bradley (Nancy) Mullins of Avon, Ohio, Laura (Russell) Tate of St. Charles, Ill., and Dr. John C. (Leisa) Mullins of Avon Lake, Ohio. She had 12 great-grandchildren who called her Gramma John, and they will miss her smile and twinkling eyes.
Also surviving are brothers Joe (Ruth) Lanning and Ernest (Eleanor) Lanning of The Plains; sister Margaret Baird of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, John A. Mullins Jr., and daughter-in-law Mary Jo (Desantis) Mullins; brothers Walter, Fred and Willard; an infant brother and sister and infant great-granddaughter.
She had been a homemaker and a wonderful sister, wife, mother and grandmother to her family.
She was a member of Chauncey Christian Church for 45 years, and the Rev. Stephen Bentley will conduct funeral services Thursday at 10 a.m. at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, Athens. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Chauncey Christian Church, 30 Lexington Ave., Chauncey 45719.

Frances Forsyth
CHAUNCEY - Frances L. Forsyth, 75, of Chauncey, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at her home.
Born May 14, 1925, in Athens County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Todd and Mabel Bradshaw Howard.
She is survived by four sons, Terry (Linda) Forsyth of Chauncey, Bill (Penny) Forsyth of The Plains, John (Pauley) Forsyth of Chauncey, and Dan (Tracie) Forsyth of Chauncey; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and five sisters, Mary Brown, Ruth Bonskawski, Angie Sewell, Carolyn Hanson and Janice Weiss.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Forsyth; an infant son, Jesse Forsyth; a sister, Edith Fisher; and a brother, Charles Howard.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home in Athens, with Gary Alton officiating. Burial will be in Hilltop Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m.

Effie Conkey
COLUMBUS - Effie Elizabeth Conkey, 83, of Columbus, a former resident of Athens County, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, at WeCare Health Facility, Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her son, Delmer Conkey. She is survived by daughters Bonnie Graham and Amelia Coon.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, 10 a.m., at Glen Rest Memorial Estate, Columbus.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, 6 to 8 p.m., at Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus.

Edna Reid
WELLSTON - Edna Ruth Dolan Reid, 83, of Wellston, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000.
Born in Washington Twp., Jackson County, on July 31, 1917, she was the daughter of the late William S. Dolan and Rachel Zana McDaniels.
She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Reid; and three children, Marilyn Rhodes, Robert E. Reid Jr. and Barb Cline.
Memorial services will be held Monday at 6 p.m. at Soul Harbor Church of Jackson. There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are by J.P. Rogers Funeral Home.

Edna Ferguson
MIDDLEPORT - Edna Maxine Ferguson, 71, of Middleport, died Tuesday, Nov. 31, 2000, at Pleasant Valley Hospital in Point Pleasant, W.Va.
She was born Aug. 7, 1929, in Middleport, daughter of the late Frank Frazier and Nellie Darst Hanson.
She is survived by sons Donald Addison Hartung and Michael Christopher Dorst; and a daughter, Rosemary Longwell.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., at Middleport Hill Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are by Fisher Funeral Home in Middleport.

Dona Weller
HAMDEN - Dona Jane Weller, 78, of Hamden, died today, Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at the home of her son in Whitehall.
She is survived by sons, Wayne, Larry, Jerry, Terry and Jeffrey Weller; and a daughter, Beth Ann Dunn.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel A. Weller.
Services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., at McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston, with Pastor Daniel Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Hamden Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Delbert Bennett
CHESTERHILL - Delbert D. Bennett, 78, of Chesterhill, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Chillicothe.
He was born on Dec. 12, 1921, in Stockport, son of the late John Wesley and LaVaughn Wilson Bennett.
He is survived by three sons, Gary, Paul and Glendon Bennett; and two daughters, Linda Johnson and Carol Close.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Ruth Worthington Bennett.
Funeral services will be held Friday, 1 p.m., at Dale United Methodist Church in Stockport. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery.
Friends may call at Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill today from 6 to 8 p.m., and at the church on Friday one hour prior to services.

Charles Nungester
MURRAY CITY - Charles A. Nungester, 61, of Murray City, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, at Mount Carmel West Hospital.
He was born Feb. 15, 1939, son of the late Albert and Flora Schwalbach Nungester. He retired from the E.B. Miller Sawmill after 35 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Carolyn Clark Nungester; a daughter, Charla (Guy) Kinneer of Carbon Hill; four sons, Charles Jr. (Staci), Craig (Peggy), Chad (Michelle) and Casey (Jessica), all of Murray City; five grandsons and nine granddaughters; a brother, Roy (Janet) of Circleville; five sisters, Mary (Alva) Russell, Dorothy (Don) Roe, and Mildred Kelley, all of Laurelville, Norma (Norman) Poling, and Amanda and Martha Hutchinson of Ray; also a special friend, Erin Connor.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, a sister, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services and burial with military honors will be held Thursday, 12:30 p.m., at Pleasant Hill Community Church.
Friends may call at Brown Funeral Home in Murray City today from 2 to 9 p.m., and at Hill Funeral Home in Kingston on Wednesday from 2 to 9 p.m.

Carrie Kurtzman
GLOUSTER - Services for Carrie Sybil Kurtzman, 99, of Logan, will be held Nov. 11, at 10 a.m., at Glouster United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Kurtzman died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, on Jekyll Island, Ga. She was born May 6, 1901, in Athens County, daughter of the late William H. and Dora Linscott Robinson.
She was a retired Trimble Twp. schoolteacher with 28 years of service, and a member of Glouster United Methodist Church. She also was a charter member of Glouster American Legion Auxiliary, and a member of Glouster Garden Club.
She is survived by a daughter, Lois Dunn of Jekyll Island; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Edward Kurtzman and Wilbert Harry; a daughter, Dora Parker; a son, Foster Harry; two brothers; and four sisters.
The funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Wendell Vermillion. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church one hour prior to services. Arrangements are by Cardaras Funeral Home in Glouster.
