Margaret Hartley
WELLSTON - Margaret Hartley, 89, of Mulga Road, Wellston, died this morning, Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, in Wellston.
She was born April 14, 1911, in Wellston, daughter of the late Thomas G. and Lizzie Attie Woodruff Morris.
She is survived by three sons, Jim, John and Bob Hartley; and five daughters, Anna Belle Linton, Loretta Betts, Martha Gilliland, Mary McCray and Jeannie Jordan.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Luther "Boots" Hartley; and two sons, Thomas "Jr." and Don Hartley.
Services will be held Friday, 1 p.m., at McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, 2 to 8 p.m.

Margaret Bratton
GLOUSTER - Margaret S. Bratton, 82, of Lancaster, passed away Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster.
She was born in Glouster on Dec. 2, 1918, daughter of the late Thomas Dodd Beddow and Mabel Whaley Beddow. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church, worked on the elections board, was a former sales representative for Century 21 Realtors, and was a member of Crawfis Grange, VFW Auxiliary, Lancaster Moose, Eagles and Olivedale Senior Center.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Jack Bratton of Lancaster, Jerry and Carolyn Bratton of Johnstown, and Tom and Della Bratton of McConnelsville; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty I. Collins of Lancaster; brothers and a sister-in-law Thomas and Joann Beddow of Plain City, and Bert Beddow of Lancaster; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Caleb C. Bratton.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home, Lancaster, with the Rev. Roy Maple officiating. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Louise McElhinny
MIDDLEPORT - Louise M. Neutzling McElhinny, 95, of Middleport, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at Rocksprings Rehabilitation Center in Pomeroy.
She was born Jan. 8, 1905.
She is survived by a daughter, Karen McElhinny of Athens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert McElhinny.
Services will be held Sunday, 2 p.m., at Fisher-Acree Funeral Home in Middleport. Burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Cheshire.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, 4 to 6 p.m.

Linda Clark
WELLSTON - Linda Jean Clark, 53, of Wellston, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at Oak Hill Hospital.
Born March 13, 1947, in Hazard, Ky., she was the daughter of the late James and Ruth Thompson Watson.
She is survived by three daughters, Sherry Hughes, Carol Gilliland and Jeri Carpenter, and a son, Jerry Wells Jr. She was preceded in death by her companion, Paul Starten, and a daughter, Mary Jones Ewing.
Services are Tuesday at 1 p.m. at J. P. Rogers Funeral Home, Wellston. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of services.

Karen Steel
WELLSTON - Memorial services for Karen Ann Steel, 59, of Wellston, will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Cornerstone Word of Life Church, Wellston. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery.
Friends may call today from 1 to 4 p.m. at Jenkins Funeral Home, Wellston.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church, 5 E. 11th St., Wellston, 45692.
Mrs. Steel died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000. In addition to her husband, Harry Jr., she is survived by children Tina McKee, Angela Perkins, Lori Exline and Todd Steel.

Joseph Perry
SHADE - Joseph Fredric Perry, 49, of Columbus, died early Friday morning, Dec. 1, 2000, at Ohio State University Hospital, Columbus.
Born Sept. 27, 1951, in Athens, he was the son of the late Joseph C. and Jean Dailey Perry.
A graduate of Alexander High School and Hocking College, he was employed as a bookkeeper. He was a full, active member of The Centurions of Columbus Inc. and was raised in the Shade area of Lodi Twp.
Mr. Perry is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Channing and Mike Olbers of Athens; an aunt and uncle, Rose Marie and Gaylord Linscott of Athens; and several cousins.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, Athens.

Jimmie Spears
GLOUSTER - Jimmie Andrew Harrison Spears, 68, of Glouster, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at his residence.
He was born April 20, 1932, in Corning, son of the late Sammy and Lucille Giffin Spears.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Genevieve "Judy" Misner Spears; sons Jimmie (Nancy) Spears of Millfield, Bob (Barbara) Spears, George (Nancy) Spears and Steve Spears of Glouster, and Ben (Karen) Spears of Canaanville; daughters Mrs. Wilburt (Judy) Rutter and Mrs. Tim (Brenda) Vess of Glouster, Mrs. Kenneth (Carol) Hopstetter of Murray City, and Mrs. Doug (Kathy) Miller of Millfield; 49 grandchildren, and 63 great-grandchildren; brothers Alfred (Mary) Spears, Chuck Spears and Dan (Deb) Spears of Corning, and Carl (Pat) Spears of Glouster; and brothers-in-law Bill Muamaw of Columbus, and Pat (Betty) Misner of Zanesville.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Allen Spears; grandchildren Cassandra Spears and Brian Hopstetter; brothers Wesley Spears, Sam Spears Jr. and Harold Spears, and two infant brothers; and sisters Evalina Muamaw, and an infant sister.
Services will be held Saturday, 1 p.m., at Brown Funeral Home in Murray City, with the Rev. Roger Decker officiating. Burial will be in Hilltop Cemetery, Millfield.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

James Frazee
JACKSONVILLE - James M. Frazee Sr., 82, of Columbus, a native of Jacksonville, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at his home.
He retired as body shop manager for Hugh White Chevrolet of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty; sons, James Jr. (Vicky), Jerry (Susan) and Gary (Mary Anne) Frazee; a daughter, Kimberly (Mike) Miller; seven grandchildren; a brother, Charles Frazee; sisters Laura McCance, Naydeen (Herb) Kinion, and Grace Barnett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Nina Frazee; and brothers Melvin, Richard and Jack Frazee.
Services will be held Thursday, 10 a.m., at Schoedinger North Chapel, 5554 Karl Road, in Columbus. Burial will be in Blendon Central Cemetery in Westerville.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Irene Buffington
THE PLAINS - Irene Buffington, 77, of The Plains, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
Born Sept. 26, 1923, in Lodi Twp., she was the daughter of the late James and Isabelle Bone Rogaski. She was a former employee of Tatalos Restaurant, Ohio University, Emory's Bar, Jimmie's Cafe and the Elks Lodge and formerly owned the Little Ritz. She was a member of the Emblem Club and American Legion auxiliary.
She is survived by a daughter, Bonnie (Jim) Brooks of Athens; two grandchildren, Shannon (Richard "Bozo") Brooks of Albany and Tyler Brooks of Athens; two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Logan Brooks of Athens; two sisters, Emma Duffy of Pomeroy and Leona Barkie of Millfield; a brother, Emory Rogaski of Fort Myers, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Betty Rogaski of Millfield; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Buffington, on May 18, 1981; a grandson, Shane Brooks; a great-grandson, Drew Brooks; and two brothers, James Jr. and Paul Rogaski.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens, with Pastor Jim Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mildred Huff
McARTHUR - Mildred Huff, 81, of McArthur, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at Twin Maples Nursing Home in McArthur.
She was born Sept. 19, 1919, in Richland Twp., Vinton County, the daughter of the late Oren and Ollie Collins Patterson.
She was a homemaker and a graduate of Richland Rural High School.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Judy Huff-Gobel; two grandsons, Michael Scott and Nathan Ryan Huff of McArthur; two sisters, Roselene (Arthur) Warthman of McArthur and Phyllis (Joe) Gibson of Allensville; three brothers, Lowell Patterson of Sugar Grove, Elmer (Merle) Patterson of Allensville, and William (Donna) Patterson of Columbus.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude O. Huff; her son, Terry Michael Huff; and a half-sister, Willa Acord.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Elk Cemetery in McArthur, with the Rev. Walter Goble officiating.
Friends may call at Garrett Funeral Home, McArthur, one hour prior to the services.

Harry Goldsberry
THE PLAINS - Harry F. Goldsberry, 49, of Point Pleasant, W.Va., formerly of The Plains, died unexpectedly Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at his home.
He was born Aug. 27, 1951, son of the late Ralph Emerson Goldsberry and Mary Etta Chadwell Goldsberry.
Harry was employed by Paul Mercer Sawmill of McArthur. He had been a forester, lumber salesman and mill manager for the sawmill for several years. Harry loved the forest and was a very dedicated employee. Harry never met a stranger.
Harry was a caring father and loving husband. He took great pride in his family. They attended Point Pleasant Church of the Nazarene as a family. He was an active member, currently serving on the church board. Harry had great faith and shared that faith with all. He was the person who was always there for you, no matter what. He always listened and cared about you.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Bonnie Bustle Goldsberry; three cherished children, Emerson Wade and special friend Marie of Baltimore, Md., Amy Joann of Cincinnati, and Scott Alan of Point Pleasant; two brothers, Ralph Edward (Doris) and Dale (Ava) of The Plains; three sisters, Karen (Emery) Sheffield of Cincinnati, Carol (Greg) Hawkins of North Carolina, and Charlene (J.B.) King of Albany; his father- and mother-in-law, Wade and Ella Mae Bustle of Cincinnati; sisters- and brothers-in-law Connie (Art) Whitaker of Mason, Peggy (Ken) Barr of Akron, Arnold of Xenia, Wade Jr. (Nancy) of Fontana, Calif., and Debbie (Gerard) Campbell of Cincinnati; several nieces and nephews; and very many special friends.
Services will be held Friday, 1 p.m., at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home in Athens, with the Rev. Charles Marker officiating. Burial will be in Hilltop Cemetery, Millfield.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Point Pleasant Church of the Nazarene, or the American Diabetes Association.

Harold Yates
DOANVILLE - Harold Addison Yates, 83, of Millersport, formerly of Athens County, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at his residence with family present.
He was born in Doanville on April 14, 1917, the youngest son of Rachel Mae Holcomb Yates and James Riley Yates.
He was the loving father of Harold Robert (Mary Jo) of Gahanna, James R. (Katherine) of Canal Winchester, and Yvonne Roberts, Rita (Fred) McNash, Michael L. (Selina), William R. and Patti (Sam) Noteman, all of Millersport. He also is survived by special friends, Carol and Margaret King, 22 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Lillian A. Yates; six brothers; and three sisters.
He was retired from the Columbus Police Department, was a veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict, a member of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 9 of Columbus, a lifetime member of VFW Buckeye Lake Post 1388, American Legion Post 637 and Military Order of Purple Heart.
Friends may visit at Johnson-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, 207 S. Main St., Baltimore, Ohio, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, 10 a.m., at the funeral home, with Fr. Justin J. Reis of St. Bernadette Church in Lancaster officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville.
Following a graveside service, the family will receive guests at The American Legion Hall, 2557 Canal Drive, Millersport.
Memorial contributions may be made to Millersport Fire Department, P.O. Box 404, Millersport 43046.
