ATHENS -- Mary L. Barrows, 67, a former resident of Athens, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002, in Mansfield.

Born Jan. 5, 1935, in Boyd County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Virgil and Edna Lykins Tackett. She was a member of Cornerstone Harvest Church of Hollister.

She is survived by a son, Earnest G. Barrows III of Athens; two daughters, Pamela (Michael) Oney and Christina (James) Biggins of Millfield; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Juanita Carter of Ironton.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest G. Barrows; a son, Charles David Lemaster; a great-grandson, Cory Wheeler; a brother, William Tackett; and a sister, Betty Kitchen.

Services will be held Friday, 11 a.m., at Warren-Brown Funeral Home, Nelsonville, with Linda Berry officiating. Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery, Albany.

Friends may call at the funeral home today from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Jean Kilpatrick Glendenning
Died: Monday, November 04, 2002
Age: 78

NELSONVILLE -- Jean Kilpatrick Glendenning, 78, of Lancaster, died Monday, Nov. 4, 2002.

She was a member of Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, Eastern Star and Olivedale Senior Citizens.

She is survived by her husband, Keith Glendenning; sons John K. (Dorothy) Glendenning of Nashville, Tenn., and Jack (Pam) Glendenning of Kansas; daughters Susan M. (Mike) Abele of Zanesville, Rita (Michael) Cope of Florida and Jill (John) Cripps of Sugar Grove; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Georgia Kilpatrick; a daughter, Georgia Glendenning; brothers George, Jack, Charles and William Kilpatrick; and a sister, Agnes Rodgers.

Services will be held Thursday, 1 p.m., at Frank E. Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Lancaster, with Pastor Russell Butti and the Rev. Bob Hayden officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m., and on Thursday one hour prior to services.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.

Ruth Delores Jeffers
Died: Monday, November 04, 2002
Age: 70

CROWN CITY -- ÊRuth Delores Jeffers, 70, of Crown City, died Monday, Nov. 4, 2002, at her residence.

Born March 6, 1932, in Gallipolis, she was the daughter of the late Calvin and Ruth McCalla Spires. She is survived by a daughter, Linda Lester.

Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Cremeens Funeral Chapel, Gallipolis, with burial in Providence Cemetery, Crown City.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

John G. Sauvage
Died: Monday, November 04, 2002
Age: 85

POMEROY -- John G. Sauvage, 85, died Monday, Nov. 4, 2002, at Holzer Medical Center.

Born Sept. 1, 1917, in Pomeroy, he was the son of the late John D. Sauvage and Alberta Custer.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Sauvage; a daughter, Jean Weaver; and a son, John R. Sauvage.

Services will be held Thursday, 1 p.m., at Ewing Funeral Home in Pomeroy. Burial will be in Gilmore Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Barbara R. Holdcroft
Died: Monday, November 04, 2002

CHAUNCEY -- Barbara R. Holdcroft, 70, of Chauncey, died Monday evening, Nov. 4, 2002, at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.

Born April 29, 1932, in Renton, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John D. and Ruth Marsh Willis. Mrs. Holdcroft was a nursing and physical therapy aide. She was employed by Hickory Creek Nursing Center for 10 years, and had been employed by Kimes Convalescent Center, Athens Mental Health Center, Doctors Hospital and WIC, and also had been a private home health-care nurse.

A longtime area resident, she was a member of Concord Union Church. She also was a foster parent, with more than 66 foster children.

She is survived by her husband and special friend, Harry Holdcroft; two daughters, Christy Holdcroft Cullums of Chauncey and Karen (Verl) Lamb of Athens; a son, Henry (Rose) Holdcroft of Athens; eight grandchildren, Amber McGuire, Eliza Thomas, Jennifer (Curt) Truax, Sabrena, Tabitha and Harold Peters, Tresa and Johnny Lamb; three great-grandchildren, Kirstin and Hunter Thomas, and Lilly Mills; sisters Josephine Evener of Millfield and Vicky Newman of Indianapolis, Ind.; brothers, Ed and David Willis of Indianapolis; several nieces and nephews; and special friends Catherine Canter, Clarence Jordan and Cheryl Williams.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Harold Holdcroft; an infant great-grandchild; sisters Betty Russell, Lois Evans and Frances Lee; and brothers, John, Terry and Eugene Willis.

Services will be held Friday, 10 a.m., at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, with Tom Antle and Ruthie Evener officiating. Cremation will follow.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.

Clarice Morse
Died: Sunday, November 03, 2002
Age: 97

ALBANY -- Clarice Morse, 97, of Rossetter Road, Albany, died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002, at Russells Nursing Home in Albany.

Born June 21, 1905, in Meigs County, she was the daughter of the late Zachariah and Dora Graham Jewell. Mrs. Morse was a graduate of Albany High School; a retired graduated nurse for Athens Mental Health Center, where she worked for many years; and a Vinton County Gold Star Mother.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Dorothy Morse of Wellston; a grandson, Dale Morse; a granddaughter and her husband, Gale Marie and Delmar Jones, all of Albany; three great-grandchildren, Thomas Jones, Cassandra Ann Jones and Mallory Marie Morse; several niece, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edmond H. "Peck" Morse; a son, Dale Bryson Morse, who lost his life in Korea; a grandson, Harold "Punkin" Morse Jr.; and two brothers, Leonard and Glenn Jewell.

Services will be held Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home in Albany, with the Rev. Leonard McVey officiating. Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mary Beryl Casteel
Died: Sunday, November 03, 2002
Age: 85

COOLVILLE -- Mary Beryl Casteel, 85, died Nov. 3, 2002, at Grant Hospital, Columbus.

She retired as a cook for the state of Ohio and was a member of Briggs Road Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vern and Bertine Dixon; her husband, Clarence; a brother, Russell Dixon; a sister, Bernice Abbott; a son, Wayne (Elizabeth) Williams; and a granddaughter, Gloria Williams.

She is survived by daughters Betty (Bob) Noble and Bonnie (Rick) Phelps; sons Larry (Pat) Casteel of Michigan, Butch (Kay) Casteel, Brady (Paula) Castell, Dick (Charlene) Casteel of Waldoning and Ed (Diane) Casteel; 26 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and many friends.

Services will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Briggs Road Baptist Church, Columbus, with the Rev. Ron Hopkins officiating. Interment will be in Coolville Cemetery.

Friends may call at Jerry Spears Funeral Home, 2693 Broad St., Columbus, today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and at the church on Wednesday after 9:30 a.m.

Craig A. Hanning
Died: Sunday, November 03, 2002
Age: 48

ALBANY -- Craig A. Hanning, 48, of Gold Ridge Road, Albany, died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002, at Grant Medical Center, Columbus from injuries he received in a car accident near Ashville, where he worked.

Born Feb. 12, 1954, in Athens, he was the son of the late Darrell and Irene Edmundson Hanning. He was a carpenter and construction foreman.

He is survived by two sisters, Kay Welch of Utah and Dahn Kendall of Catonsville, Md.; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and many friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Joy Blessing and Sue Dennison, and a brother, Dix Hanning.

Services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home, Albany, with the Rev. Marvin Althouse officiating. Burial will be in Riggs Cemetery, Pageville.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home, P.O. Box 232, Albany 45710, to help with funeral expenses.

Mary Beryl Casteel
Died: Sunday, November 03, 2002
Age: 85

COOLVILLE -- Mary Beryl Casteel, 85, died Nov. 3, 2002, at Grant Hospital in Columbus. She retired as a cook for the state of Ohio and was a member of Briggs Road Baptist Church.

Vivian F. Bryan

Age: 84

NELSONVILLE -- Vivian F. Bryan, 84, of Columbus, formerly of Nelsonville, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at the home of a daughter in Whitehall.

Born March 21, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Amy Dalton Green.

She is survived by sons Clifford Bryan, Ross Bryan and Robert Bryan; and daughters Helen M. Morgret and Betty R. Phillips.

Services will be held Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Warren-Brown Funeral Home in Nelsonville. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Earl J. Kitchen
Died: Saturday, November 02, 2002
Age: 62

LOGAN -- Earl J. Kitchen, 62, of Logan, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, in Logan.

Born June 15, 1940, in Hocking County, he was the son of the late Earl L. and Stella Agnes Woodard Kitchen.

He is survived by daughters Crystal Fizer, Loretta Sampson and Jane Shannon.

Services will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home in Logan. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, with military services conducted by the Combined Veterans Organizations of Hocking County.

Friends may call at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Leo A. Trader
Died: Saturday, November 02, 2002
Age: 75

HAYDENVILLE -- Leo A. Trader, 75, of Haydenville, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, in Logan.

Born April 29, 1927, in Gore, he was the son of the late William W. Sr. and Zona May Nida Trader.

He is survived by his wife, Kay Dawson Trader; a son, Adam L. Trader; and a daughter, Kelly Arnett.

Services will be held Wednesday, 2 p.m., at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home in Logan. Burial will be in Fellowship Cemetery, Hocking County, with graveside services conducted by the Combined Veterans Associations of Hocking County.
