Age: 87

LOGAN - Charles D. Eaton, 87, of Logan, died Sunday, June 29, 2003, in Columbus.

Born Jan. 22, 1916, in Haydenville, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Irene A. Vogel Eaton. He is survived by his wife, Edith M. Geslin Eaton; and sons Charles T. and Robert D. Eaton.

Services will be Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Floyd Keeton Jr.
Died: Sunday, June 15, 2003
Age: 65

MURRAY CITY - Floyd “Junior” Keeton Jr., 65, of Murray City, died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at Doctors Hospital of Nelsonville.

Born Sept. 19, 1937, in Murray City, he was the son of the late Floyd W. Sr. and Lena Johnson Keeton. He was a former restaurant owner and operator, ran a CB shop, was in charge of the food pantry in Murray City, received the 2003 Volunteer of the Year Award for Hocking County, served as president of Murray City Village Council and on the Murray City Improvement Committee, was a member of the Hocking Housing Management Board and was involved in a host of other volunteer groups.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Yvonne McDonald Keeton; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Sr. and Stacie Keeton of Murray City, Jerry and Sherie Keeton of Nelsonville, and Michael Keeton of Murray City; a daughter, Stacy Keeton of Murray City; grandchildren Robert Keeton Jr., Christopher Garza, Brandon Garza, Benjamin Garza, Timmy Cox and Sarah Garza; a sister and brother-in-law, Varonia and Enos Levy of Glenwood, Md.; his stepmother, Iverrean Keeton of Logan; stepbrothers and their wives, Kenny and Peg Riley of Nelsonville, Charles and Janet Riley of Logan, Carroll and Pat Riley of Logan; and a stepsister, Barb Dickerson of Logan.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Keeton, and a stepsister, Charlotte Edwards.

Services will be held Thursday, 1 p.m., at Brown Funeral Home, Murray City, with the Rev. Glen Easterling officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Josephine Saturday Bruce
Died: Saturday, June 14, 2003
Age: 68

ATHENS - Josephine “Jo” Saturday Bruce, 68, of Athens, went to be with her Lord at 7:40 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2003, at Hickory Creek Nursing Center, The Plains, with her seven children and their father at her side.

Born on Sunday, July 29, 1934, in Savannah, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Reuben Sr. and Rosa Saturday. She was Southern Baptist by faith and a homemaker.

She is survived by four daughters, Martha Lafferty (Steve Farmer), Rosa (Randy) Jones and Brenda (Rex) Kennedy, all of Zanesville, and Carla (Michael) Evans of New Concord; three sons, Bruce David Bruce of Athens, George (Diana) Bruce of Grove City and Frank (Janie) Bruce of Columbus; 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Nadine Wright of Indiana; a brother, Reuben Saturday Jr. of Indiana; and the father of her children, Carl E. Bruce of Zanesville.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Chad M. Kennedy; a sister, Nell Ziegler; and two brothers, Arthur and Robert Saturday.

Mrs. Bruce donated her body to the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine. A memorial service will be held Saturday, 3 p.m., at Wings of Hope Tabernacle, Zanesville, with the Rev. Terry F. Newman officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hickory Creek Residential Fund, 51 E. 4th Street, The Plains 45781.

Hillis Funeral Home, Zanesville, is in charge of arrangements.

David S. Fraedrich
Died: Saturday, June 14, 2003
Age: 54

NELSONVILLE - David S. Fraedrich, 54, of Nelsonville, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2003, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, after a brief illness.

Born April 17, 1949, in Logan, he was the son of the late William “Bill” Fraedrich and Martha Sheppard Fraedrich.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Jeanie West Fraedrich; a son, Michael William (Shonna) Fraedrich; a daughter, Angela Christine Fraedrich and her fiance, Justin Booth, all of Nelsonville; grandchildren Kristina Bycofski and Wyatt May; two special nephews, Tim Adams of Pataskala and Tony Adams of Reynoldsburg; and a host of friends.

David was a 1967 graduate of Nelsonville High School. He received a bachelor of arts degree in business administration from Miami University in Oxford in 1971. He was the current senior vice president/treasurer of Rocky Shoes and Boots, a member of the Board of Directors of Rocky Boots; chairman of the Board of Trustees of Doctors Hospital of Nelsonville/Ohio Health; was Nelsonville Person of the Year in 1999; was chairman of the “Be A Friend” fund drive for Doctors Hospital of Nelsonville; a member of the Baird Brothers Co. Foundation; a board member of Sunpower Inc.; a board member of the finance committee of the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation of Nelsonville; one of the founders of Five Star Enterprises in the Dominican Republic; a member of the Freeport Consortium; a member of Athens Country Club and Black Diamond Ranch Country Club of Lecanto, Fla.; a fundraiser for the Boy Scouts of America; a former Rotary Club member; past member of the 317 Board; a former member of Nelsonville City Council; and was an avid golfer, hunter and sportsman.

A celebration of the life of David S. Fraedrich will be held Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Stuart’s Opera House, 52 Public Square, Nelsonville. Officiating will be the Rev. Harold McConnell and close friends of David S. Fraedrich. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville.

Calling hours will be observed today from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Warren-Brown Funeral Home in Nelsonville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Stuart’s Opera House, 34 Public Square, Nelsonville, 45764.

David Harry Bell
Died: Saturday, June 14, 2003

LOGAN - David Harry Bell, 73, of Logan, died Saturday, June 14, 2003, at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster.

Born Oct. 31, 1929, in Logan, he was the son of the late Harry Martin and Dorothy Elizabeth Walburn Bell.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret A. “Marty” Gumpf Bell.

A third-generation oil man, Mr. Bell had been active in the Ohio oil and gas industry for more than 50 years. He founded Bell Well Service in 1957 and was president of Bell Drilling and Producing Co. for more than 40 years.

He was involved in many civic associations, including Rotary Club (past president), American Cancer Society of Hocking County (past president), Logan Chamber of Commerce (past director) and Hocking County Republican Committee (past executive chairman). He was a member of Logan First Presbyterian Church, and was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Bell also is survived by his children, Mrs. Peter (Julie) Kaldis of Northville, Mich., Mrs. Kevin (Jennifer) Flowers of Powell and David C. Bell of Lancaster; six grandchildren; and a sister, Marjorie Spalsbury of Logan.

Services will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Logan First Presbyterian Church, 2 W. Hunter St., Logan, with the Rev. Lawrence R. Hoffmann officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call at Roberts Funeral Home in Logan on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to services.

The family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 151 Lake St., Lancaster; or to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 E. 33rd St., New York, N.Y., 10016.

Maxine T. Honchell
Died: Friday, June 13, 2003

FORT MYERS, FLA. - Maxine T. Honchell passed away on Friday, June 13, 2003, at Manor Care Nursing Home in Fort Myers, Fla. Her husband, Verner D. Honchell, preceded her in death in 2000.

Maxine is survived by sisters Grace Wentworth of Pasadena, Calif., and Lucille Rannells of New Plymouth.

Cremation was by the National Cremation Society.

Wesley Grounds Sr.
Died: Friday, June 13, 2003
Age: 64

GOSHEN, IND. - Wesley “Larry” Grounds Sr., 64, of Goshen, Ind., died Friday, June 13, 2003, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born Jan. 28, 1939, in Decota, W.Va., he was the son of the late Henry and Bertha (Perry) Grounds. He was a retired mechanic for United Mine Workers of America, having worked at Bethlehem Steel in West Virginia, Southern Ohio Coal in Ohio, Goshen Rubber and Smoker Craft in Indiana.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a member of the United Mine Workers of America Local 1957 and the United Church of God in Elkhart, Ind.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Hodge; three sons, Wesley Grounds Jr. of the home, Mark (Misty) Grounds of Goshen, Ind., and Jason (Krissy) Grounds of Dunlap, Ind.; two grandchildren; two brothers, George (Jan) Grounds of Albany and John (Connie) Grounds of Okeechobee, Fla.; and a sister, Ailene Estep of Gallipolis.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Herndon, Herbert and Dobbie Grounds; and seven sisters, Josephine Markin, Ellen Shiltz, Kathleen Johnson, Ester Stanley, Evelyn, Mae and Lee Grounds.

Funeral services will be held Monday at noon at the Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, Ind., with Pastor Vernon Hargrove officiating. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen, Ind.

Calling hours will be held today at the funeral from 4 to 6 p.m. and on Monday from 11 a.m. to noon.

Memorial contributions may be made to his grandchildren, in care of Linda Grounds, or the Home/Hospice Program of Goshen General Hospital, 200 High Park Ave., Goshen, Ind., 46526.

Grace Inboden
Died: Friday, June 13, 2003
Age: 77

McARTHUR - Grace Inboden, 77, of McArthur, died Friday, June 13, 2003, at Twin Maples Nursing Home, McArthur.

She was the daughter of the late Clem and Naomi Harden Inboden.

She is survived by her children, Larry and Vera Belle Inboden.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harley E. Inboden.

Calling hours will be held Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Garrett Funeral Home, McArthur. Graveside funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family in Elk Cemetery, McArthur.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home.

Ruth Ann Hill
Died: Thursday, June 12, 2003
Age: 71

RACINE - Ruth Ann Hill, 71, of Racine, died Thursday, June 12, 2003, at Charleston Area Medical Center.

Born April 20, 1932, in Minersville, she was the daughter of the late Ralph R. and Dorothy D. Hysell Badgley. She is survived by a daughter, Pamela Trammell, and sons Billy C. Hill Jr., Jeffrey Hill, Timothy Hill and Christopher Hill.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Cremeens Funeral Home, Racine, with burial in Letart Falls Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home today from 5 to 9 p.m.

Contributions may be made to Racine United Methodist Church, Elm Street, Racine 45771.
