Peg Robinson
Died: Sunday, June 9, 2002

COOLVILLE -- Blondeline M. "Peg" Robinson, 80, of Coolville, died Sunday, June 9, 2002, at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital.

Born Sept. 19, 1921, in Spencer, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Henry Clay and Ila Florence Simmons Price. She was retired from O'Bleness Memorial Hospital, and was a member of Torch Gospel Baptist Church and Athens Senior Citizens.

She is survived by a brother, Granville Price of Irving, Ky.; a sister, Wanda Spencer of Parkersburg, W.Va.; special friends Ruby Beha, Patty and Alvin Depoy, Judy Elliott and Gil Courtney; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Robinson; and a brother, Mrylen Price.

Services will be held Wednesday, 1 p.m., at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home, Coolville, with Pastor Jay Hubbard officiating. Burial will be in Coolville Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Richmond Six
Died: Sunday, June 9, 2002

NELSONVILLE -- Richmond A. "Dick" Six, 72, of Nelsonville, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2002, at his residence.

Born Jan. 12, 1929, in Athens County, he was the son of the late Leonard and Elsa Morgan Six. He is the widower of Luella Coe. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7174 of The Plains and a member of Salem Church.

He is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Birgie and Viola Six, and Harold and Juanita Six, all of Nelsonville; a sister, Lucille Pierce of Millfield; a special friend, Charlotte Estep; a special nephew, Mike Six; and a special niece, Beverly. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Six.

Services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, Nelsonville, with the Rev. Gary Alton officiating. Interment will be in Salem Cemetery, Athens County.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Sherry Boggs
Died: Saturday, June 8, 2002

ATHENS -- Sherry Lynn Boggs, 46, of Athens, passed into Heaven's Gates on Saturday, June 8, 2002, at her home, as a result of a long childhood illness.

Daughter of Eileen Cunningham Boggs of Athens and the late Glennis M. Boggs, formerly of Somerset, Ky., she was born Sept. 21, 1955, in Athens.

She lived her entire life in the comfort of her mother's home after a childhood surgical procedure forced her to be an invalid. She attended The Plains Elementary School.

Besides her mother, she is survived by a grandmother, Margaret Goldsberry Cunningham Garrett of Athens, who helped in Sherry's daily care and resided in her home; a sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca and James Caeser of The Plains; a nephew, Braddock Caeser of The Plains; an aunt, Beulah (Wallace) Boggs Smith of Princeton, W.Va.; and three uncles, Lowell (Catherine) Boggs of Belpre, Leland (Wanda) Boggs of Gallipolis, and Basil (Clarice) Boggs of Stockton.

Sherry also is survived by nurses that helped in her daily care for the past several years and that were true angels to her cause, including Pam Bobo, Rachel Keith-Hook, Kathy Shafer, Amber Parry and Deb Newberry. The list of Sherry's special people would not be complete without "Uncle" Bill Coon who had helped Sherry into her therapeutic chair for years. She loved you all.

Besides her father, she was preceded in death by grandparents E. Ward Cunningham, Ruby Carson and Florence Tilton Boggs Sr.; an uncle, Ruby Carson Boggs Jr.; an aunt, Marilyn Boggs Myers; and an infant aunt, Eileen Glenna Cunningham.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. David Roach officiating. Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens.

Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Ruth Lehman
Died: Friday, June 7, 2002

LOGAN -- Ruth Alice Lehman, 84, of North Augusta, S.C., formerly of Hocking County, died Friday, June 7, 2002, at the home of her daughter in North Augusta.

Born Dec. 16, 1917, in Murray City, she was the daughter of the late Lowell Emerson and Amelia Kathryn Hoffman Nutter Sr.

She was married to Leonard Augusteen Lehman, who survives.

Mrs. Lehman retired from Hocking Valley Community Hospital with 12 years of service. She was a member of Ebenezer Methodist Church on Route 595 in Hocking County, and had attended the Church of God in Naples, Fla. She was a 4-H leader for 18 years with the Get-to-Gather 4-H Club. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society, a Sunday school teacher at Ebenezer Church, president of the PTA and Band Boosters at Green Elementary and Haydenville schools, representative for Methodist Church at Lakeside, Ohio, and a lifetime member of Rebecca Lodge.

She also is survived by two daughters, Elouise Ruth Thompson of North Augusta and Carol Ann (Richard G.) Klinger of Logan; seven grandchildren, Michael W. Thompson, Gregory L. Thompson, Debra Thompson Gant, David Wheeler, Floyd E. Mount, James R. Klinger and Joseph A. Klinger; a brother, Robert (Gladys) Nutter of Kissimmee, Fla.; three half-brothers, Lowell E. Nutter Jr. of Logan, George Nutter of Kissimmee and William Nutter of Grove City; a sister, Esther Whitcraft of Gibisonville; three half-sisters, Roxie (David) Schlegel of Lima, Evelyn (John) Statten of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Louella (Roger) Guess of Lancaster.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Jesse and Ralph Nutter; a sister, Anna Mae Smith; and a half-brother, Parley Nutter.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, Logan, with the Rev. James R. Mathias officiating. Burial will be in Smith Chapel Cemetery, Green Twp., Hocking County.

Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until time of service.

Roger Rossiter
Died: Friday, June 7, 2002

WOODSFIELD -- Roger Duane Rossiter, 55, of Greenville, Miss., formerly of Noble County, died Friday, June 7, 2002, at his home.

Born Jan. 4, 1947, in Noble County he was son of Opal Marie Lyall Rossiter of Summerfield and the late Jesse Duane Rossiter.

He is survived by sons Daniel Troy and Aaron Duane Rossiter, and his wife, Rebecca Ann.

Services will be Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Crum Ridge Church of Christ near Summerfield. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, 100 S. Paul St., Woodsfield, today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.

Anna Saunders
Died: Friday, June 7, 2002

McARTHUR -- Anna Marie Trainer Saunders, 59, of Columbus, died Friday, June 7, 2002, at Cleveland Clinic.

Born Jan. 23, 1943, she was the daughter of Maxine Pendleton Hayslett of McArthur and the late Everett Clair Trainer. She was a supervisor at Techniglass of Columbus, formerly Owens-Illinois.

She is survived by children John Saunders and Robert (Sherry) Saunders, both of McArthur, Toni (Craig) Daft of Pelzer, S.C., Christopher Saunders of Columbus and James Saunders of McArthur; brothers, Ronnie Dean "Junie" (Linda) Trainer and David Trainer, both of McArthur; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and a lifetime friend, Selba Starkey.

Services will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Grace Baptist Church, McArthur, with the Rev. Roger Hauck officiating. Burial will be in Elk Cemetery.

Friends may call at Garrett Funeral Home, McArthur, on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m., and at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to services.

Paul Thomas
Died: Friday, June 7, 2002

REEDSVILLE -- Paul A. Thomas, 79, Reedsville, died Friday, June 7, 2002, at Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus.

He was born July 5, 1922, in Marietta, son of Adonis Carver and Margaret Koon Thomas.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys Boston Thomas; three daughters, Pamela Bates and her husband, Cliff, of Clovis, N.M., Paula Beldyk and her husband, Rich, of Williamstown, W.Va., and Anita Karschnik and her husband, Joe, of Batavia; two grandsons, three step-grandchildren and several cousins.

He was a veteran of World War II, a member of Reedsville United Methodist Church and belonged to the Masonic Lodge in Parkersburg, W.Va. He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Parkersburg for 33 years.

Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home, Coolville, with the Rev. Robert Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Reedsville Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home today from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Reedsville United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box, Reedsville, 45772.

Russell Lent
Died: Thursday, June 6, 2002

JACKSONVILLE -- Russell Leonard Lent, 77, of Jacksonville, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2002, at his residence.

Born Sept. 25, 1924, in Glouster, he was the son of the late Russell L. and Della Wyatt Lent. He retired from Tri-County Joint Vocational School, where he taught carpentry. He was a former employee of McBee Systems of Athens, and a member of Glouster United Methodist Church and Trimble Masonic Lodge, where he held the 32nd degree Scottish Rite.

He is survived by three sons, Richard (Cherie) Lent and Wayne (Barb) Lent of Glouster, and Robert (Penny) Lent of Chillicothe; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Gieger of Jacksonville; and a special friend, Bob Talbert of Jacksonville.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gary Lent; two brothers, John and Scott Lent; and two sisters, Martha Chalfant and Ruth Wade.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, 3 p.m., at Glouster United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Roach officiating. Arrangements are by Cardaras Funeral Home in Glouster.

Memorial contributions may be made to Appalachian Community Hospice, P.O. Box 768, Athens, 45701-0768.

Matthew Winland
Died: Thursday, June 6, 2002

MURRAY CITY -- Matthew Lee Winland, 12, Murray City, died Thursday, June 6, 2002, at Route 93N, Gore.

Born Dec. 24, 1989, in Lancaster, he was the son of John Rollins of Gore and Elizabeth "Beth" Amerine Gray and stepfather William Gray of Murray City.

Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. at Garrett Funeral Home, McArthur. Burial will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, Vinton County.

Friends may call at the funeral home after noon today.
