Age: 81

LOGAN -- Bertha Beougher, 81, of Rockbridge, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, in Logan.

Born Jan. 19, 1921, in Meigs County, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Tressa Von Schriltz Taylor.

She is survived by sons Howard H., Lawrence A., Clarence M., Clyde E., Roy S., Allen L. and Irvin R. Beougher; and daughters Mabel L. Beougher, Ruth A. Fetherolf, Audrey M. Baker, Alice M. Hartshorn, Arlene M. Cook, Bernice L. McDonald, Millie Toole and Lois W. Beougher.

Services will be Friday, 2:30 p.m., at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan. Burial will be in Morgan Chapel Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Darin M. Eaton
Died: Monday, January 13, 2003
Age: 37

LOGAN -- Darin M. Eaton, 37, of Logan, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, in Logan.

Born April 22, 1965, in Logan, he was the son of Charles T. and Eva I. Wilson Eaton of Logan.

Services will be Thursday, 11 a.m., at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan. Burial will be in Knollwood Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Combined Veterans of Hocking County.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 9 p.m.

Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Hocking County, 151 Lake St., Lancaster 43130-2589.

Walter F. Fisher
Died: Monday, January 13, 2003
Age: 74

LOGAN -- Walter F. Fisher, 74, of Logan, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, in Lancaster.

Born May 7, 1928, in Pittsburgh, Pa., he was the son of the late Albert and Dorothea Bieber Fisher.

Services will be today at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan. Burial will be in Smith Chapel Cemetery, Logan, with military rites conducted by the Combined Veterans of Hocking County.

Sontributions may be made to a charity of choice.

Diana Sue Bentz
Died: Sunday, January 12, 2003
Age: 49

COOLVILLE -- Diana Sue Bentz, 49, of Coolville, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at St. Joseph Hospital emergency room.

She was born in Marion, Ohio on Jan. 28, 1953. and was the daughter of the late George W. Collins Sr. and Edith Skillman Collins. She was a member of Liberty Street Church of God, Parkersburg.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Mick Bentz; a son, Bradley C. Bentz and his wife Brianna of Montgomery, Ala.; and a daughter, Amy Sue Bentz of Coolville. Also surviving are four sisters, Pamela Beechum of Carlisle, Pa., Patricia Rigor and her husband Tim of Marion, Debra Lane and her husband, Rich of Athens, and Rachel Dutt and her husband Jim of Orlando, Fla.; and a brother and his wife, George W. Collins Jr. and Ginnie of Marion. Also surviving are her mother-in-law, Inez Bentz of Coolville; aunts Jane Kelly and Rachel Bivens of Athens; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends Pam Russell and Connie Lockhart of Coolville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Lloyd Cooper, John Cooper and Karl C. Hillen; a sister-in-law, Peggy Cooper; and a special uncle, Everett Kelly.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre, with Pastor Brian Harrell officiating. Burial will follow in Coolville Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 9 p.m.

Billy Blakley
Died: Sunday, January 12, 2003

ATHENS -- Our beloved one, Billy "Wayne" Blakley, 56, of Avanelle Drive, Athens, went to the lord on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at his home.

Born May 11, 1946, in Rock Island, Ill., he was the son of Iola J. Bixby Blakely of Iowa and the late Jack Blakley.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Neal Blakley; children, Kerry (Brian) Nicholson of Athens and Billie D. Blakley of McArthur; godchildren, Shelly (Tim) Powell of Albany and Jenny (John) Davidson of Athens; his mother's special friend, Allen Bailey of Iowa; grandchildren, Tiffany, Kyle, Kayla, Justin, Corey, Courtney, Tyler and Ryan; a great-grandchild expected in June; sisters and brothers, James (Stella) Blakley of Iowa, Betty (Jerry) Bean of Iowa, Diana Javier (and the late Cip) of Missouri, Theresa (Jimmy) Sapp of Alabama and Ronald Blakley of Illinois; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Carolyn (Mike) Stacy of Oklahoma, Thomas (Elaine) Neal of Oklahoma and Sandra (Clayton) Duncan of Oklahoma; many nieces, nephews and loving friends.

Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Edythe I. Neal; his father-in-law, Thomas Samuel Neal of Oklahoma; a brother-in-law, Donald Neal of Louisiana; and his grandparents, Francis and Martha Bixby of Iowa, and James and Ella Blakley of Iowa.

Mr. Blakley was a 40-year veteran of the railroad, spending the last 22 years with CSX and finishing his career as general engineering inspector. He was an avid golfer and fisherman.

Services will be held Friday, 11 a.m., at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home, Albany, with Judy Doddrill officiating. Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m.

Roy Cremeans
Died: Sunday, January 12, 2003
Age: 75

COOLVILLE -- Roy "R.D." Cremeans, 75, of Coolville, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg.

Born April 8, 1928, he was the son of the late Alfred and Mertie Childres Cremeans. He is survived by his wife, Mabel Jeffers Cremeans, and a nephew raised in the home, David Cremeans. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty, and his second wife, Doris.

Services will be Tuesday, 1 p.m., at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home, Coolville, with burial in Rockland Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m.

Kathryn C. Riggs
Died: Sunday, January 12, 2003
Age: 91

LOGAN -- Kathryn C. Riggs, 91, of Logan, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at the home of her son, Richard.

Born Oct. 18, 1911, in Hocking County, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Mary Snider Rohrer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd D. Riggs.

Services will be Wednesday, 10 a.m., at St. John's Catholic Church, Logan. Entombment will be in Fairview Mausoleum.

Friends may call at Cardaras Funeral Home, Logan, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Richard Reed
Died: Sunday, August 12, 2001

ATHENS -- Richard M. Reed, 70, of Athens, died early Sunday morning, Aug. 12, 2001, at Hickory Creek Nursing Center in The Plains.

Born June 14, 1931, in Coolville, he was the son of the late Elza and Audrey Bowers Reed. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Boyd Reed; a daughter, Jessica Reed; four sons, Greg, Tony, Ronnie and Tim Reed; a stepdaughter, Jamie Clark; and two stepsons, John and Jeremy Higgins.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Rick Reed; and a daughter, Sandra Gerding.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date by Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home.

Mary Sorrell
Died: Sunday, August 12, 2001

WELLSTON -- Mary Elizabeth Roach Sorrell, 58, of Mulga Road, Wellston, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2001, in the emergency room of Holzer Medical Center in Jackson.

Born Jan. 6, 1943, in New Haven, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Percy E. and Leona Clark Roach.

She is survived by daughters Terra Good and Alice Sorrell; and sons Frank Sorrell and Ralph Cardwell Jr.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Leo F. Sorrell and Ralph Cardwell Sr.

Services will be held Wednesday, 1 p.m., at J.P. Rogers Funeral Home in Wellston. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home today from 2 to 8 p.m.

Alan Barnhart
Died: Saturday, August 11, 2001

ATHENS -- Alan Barney Barnhart, 40, of New Lexington, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, as the result of a motorcycle accident on Route 668 near Junction City.

He was a self-employed painter, and a member of the New Lexington and Lancaster Eagles, and Chauncey Sons of AMVETS.

He is survived by his parents, Gerald Jack and Glada Mohler Barnhart of New Lexington; three sisters, Linda (Rodger) Seals of New Lexington, Jackie (Keith) Draggoo of Bristol, Ind., and Lura (Randy) Kuchyt of Montrose, Colo.; special friends Nicole, Hope and Luke; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Ora Barnhart, and Sedwick and Delca Mohler.

Services will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m., at Roberts Funeral Home, 304 Mill St., New Lexington, with Monty Hurst officiating. Burial will be in Hilltop Cemetery, Millfield.

Friends may call at the funeral home today, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
