Danny Davis
Died: Friday, February 21, 2003
Age: 56

Danny Davis, 56, of Hillsboro, died unexpectedly Friday (Feb. 21, 2003) at the Highland District Hospital, Hillsboro. He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Barnes) Davis of Hillsboro.

Mr. Davis was born Aug. 9, 1946, in New Market, son of the late McClellan and Edna P. Kidder Davis. He was employed at Technicolor in Wilmington. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1161. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam era.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Brian Davis of Dayton; two brothers, Wib (Ruth) Davis of Hillsboro and Dale (Barbara) Davis of Mason; a sister, Irene Stroop of Hillsboro; a sister-in-law, Betty Davis of Hillsboro; her father-in-law, Paul Barnes of Hillsboro; a brother-in-law, Ralph (Judy) Barnes of Hillsboro; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William B. Davis.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the HOPE MILLER-THOMPSON FUNERAL HOME, 241 E. Main St., Hillsboro, Derek Stump officiating, with burial in the New Market Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Ohio Valley Affiliate, P.O. Box 182039 Dept. O13, Columbus, 43218-2039.

Mary N. McCarren
Died: Friday, February 21, 2003
Age: 83

Mary N. McCarren, 83, formerly of Harveysburg, died Friday (Feb. 21, 2003) at Quaker Heights Nursing Home in Waynesville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur K. McCarren.

Mrs. McCarren was born Nov. 14, 1919, in Port William, daughter of Charles and Ethel Brakefield Beason. She was a member of the Sharon United Methodist Church in Kingman. She was formerly employed at Clinton County National Bank and Murphy Bailey Realtors in Wilmington.

She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Nellie (Raymond) Rich of Waynesville and Lucy McCarren of Harveysburg; a brother, Owen (Dorothy) McCarren of Oregonia; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, Cecil and Dwight Beason.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Miami Cemetery, Waynesville, Charles Ellison officiating. STUBBS-CONNER FUNERAL HOME, Waynesville, is in charge of the arrangements.

Rowena F. Farquer
Died: Friday, February 21, 2003
Age: 96

Rowena F. Farquer, 96, formerly of Lynchburg, died Friday (Feb. 21, 2003) at Heartland of Hillsboro.

She was born Feb. 9, 1907, in Warren County, daughter of the late James S. and Frances Louise Rilea Farquer. She had owned her own farm and raised dairy cows, grew and harvested tobacco, along with other farming responsibilities. In 1965, she retired from Wright Aeronautical and moved to Lynchburg.

She is survived by a grandson, Richard (Connie) Warner of Hillsboro; six great-grandchildren and their families, Christy Swartz, Richard Warner Jr., Jeromey Warner, Jamie Warner, and Tonie and Jonie Warner; five great-grandchildren, Mason, Bailey, Bryden, Annalyse and Tanner; a brother, Tom Farquer of Sardinia; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard Lancaster; six brothers, Robert R., Clarence R., Ralph H., James C., Wilbur M. and Jack R. Farquer; and three sisters, Emma Mae Westfall, Ruby Culberson and Ruth Isabel Stanforth.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Blanchester I.O.O.F. Cemetery. There will be no visitation. The DAVIS-TURNER FUNERAL HOME, Lynchburg, is serving the family.

Skyler Gavin Lynch
Died: Monday, June 16, 2003
Age: 2

Skyler Gavin Lynch, 2, of Blanchester, died Monday (June 16, 2003) at Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati.

He was born April 11, 2001, in Cincinnati, son of Thomas Randall “Randy” II and Kelly Renee Mobley Lynch of Blanchester.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Thomas Randall “Trey” Lynch III of Blanchester; his grandparents, Larry and Diana Mobley of Midland, Randy and Robin Lynch of Blanchester, Pam and Donnie Owens of Franklin; and his great-grandparents, Betty Swartz, Reuben and Carol Mobley, Tom and Mabel Lynch and Buford and Betty South.

Services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at TUFTS SCHILDMEYER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Main St., Blanchester, with burial in the Blanchester I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Blanchester. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 1080 Nimitzview Drive, Cincinnati, 45230.

Kenneth D. Williams
Died: Monday, June 16, 2003
Age: 92

Kenneth D. Williams, 92, of New Vienna, died 1:25 p.m. Monday (June 16, 2003) at Heartland of Hillsboro Nursing Home. He is survived by his wife, Helen M. Sollars Williams. They were married for 66 years and were married March 28, 1937.

Mr. Williams was born Oct. 6, 1910, in Fayette County, son of the late Grover Cleveland and Lena Grace Dick Williams. He had been a resident of New Vienna since 1944 and owned and operated Williams Garage and Service Station for 50 years. He served the community as a volunteer firefighter, village police officer and bus driver for the New Vienna School.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Barbara Ellen (Roger Grey) Blackmore of New Vienna; a grandchild, Tonya Rae Blackmore (Marvin Eugene) Davis; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Bryan Eugene Davis, Heather Dianne Davis and Misty Dawn Mountjoy; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Wilbur “Doc” Williams, James Donald Williams and Marvin Eugene Williams; and three sisters, Amanda Rachel Nicodemus, Opal Messer and Leota “Lee” Shupert.

Services will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday at L. EUGENE SMITH & SON FUNERAL HOME, 64 S. South St., New Vienna, Russell Lieb officiating, with burial in the New Vienna I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Marion "Ding" "Dog" Denner
Died: Monday, June 16, 2003
Age: 51

Marion “Ding” “Dog” Denner, 51, of Hillsboro, died Monday (June 16, 2003) as a result of a motorcycle accident.

Mr. Denner was born Jan. 30, 1952, in Dayton, son of Ruth Duffield Denner of Troy and the late Gene P. Denner. He was a truck driver and an avid motorcycle rider. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons, Gabriel Levi (Margaret) Denner of Columbus and Adam Joseph Denner of Hillsboro; a stepdaughter, Amy Pasch of Lena, Ill.; a sister, Jeanne Seifman of Troy; a brother, Ronald Denner of Mississippi; a stepgrandson, Kyle Pasch; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lorelai Denner.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at TURNER & SON FUNERAL HOME, 602 N. High St., Hillsboro, with burial in the Greenfield Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Highland County honor guard. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Elnora "Tok" May Allender
Died: Monday, June 16, 2003
Age: 82

Elnora “Tok” May Allender, 82, of Ripley, died Monday (June 16, 2003) at her residence.

She is survived by six children, Patricia Ann (Butch Fisher) Funk, James (Judy) Allender Jr., David (Trish) Allander, all of Cincinnati, Michael (Vicki) Allender of Mt. Orab, Margaret Ann Allender of Springfield and Judy (Benny) McGothin of Ripley; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Marge Welton of Springfield and Anna Horner of Wilmington.

She was preceded in death by a son, Larry; a sister, Flossie Brooks; and four brothers, Floyd, Jamie, Bill and Kenneth Drake.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the LITTLETON FUNERAL HOME, 104 N. Jackson St., Sabina, with burial in Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wilmington. Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Eugene R. Whitacre
Died: Sunday, June 15, 2003
Age: 85

Eugene R. Whitacre, 85, of Otterbein, formerly of Wilmington, died Sunday (June 15, 2003) at Sycamore Hospital in Miamisburg. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Gregory Whitacre, who died in 1998.

Mr. Whitacre was born Dec. 29, 1917, in Indian Hill, son of the late Harvey C. Whitacre and Edith Ludlum Whitacre. He received a bachelor of science degree in agricultural engineering from The Ohio State University in 1942. Following graduation, he married Irene Gregory. He joined the Army and served in England and France during World War II. He and his wife moved to Illinois, where he joined International Harvester in 1946, working in research and engineering until his retirement in 1980. Following his retirement, they moved to Wilmington. In 1998, he moved to Otterbein. He was a member of the Wilmington United Methodist Church and former president of the Wilmington Kiwanis Club.

He is survived by two sons, Russell W. (Jane) Whitacre of Madison, Wis., and Roger S. (Linda Starry) Whitacre of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren, Adam Thomas Whitacre of Colorado Springs, Colo., Courtney Leigh of Dallas, Texas, Travis Austin of Dallas, Texas, and Ross Tyler Whitacre of Dallas, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Maxwell L. Whitacre and Thomas A. Whitacre; and three sisters, Dorothy Gaynor Carder, Ruth Arnold and Virginia Burkett Whitacre.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Wilmington United Methodist Church, 50 E. Locust St., Wilmington. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Whitacre’s wishes were for memorials to be made to the Wilmington United Methodist Church, 61 E. Main St., Suite 4, Wilmington, 45177.
