Stephen Innis
Stephen "Butch" Innis, 52, Centerburg, died Saturday (February 24, 2001) at his residence.
He was born in Columbus to the late Randall Innis and Ann (Schrader) Innis, who survives in Columbus. He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church and a receiving clerk at Kroger Morse Road with 33 years of service. He enjoyed golf, NASCAR races and gardening, and was an Army veteran in the Vietnam War.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Michele "Shelly" (McElhinny), whom he married on July 7, 1984 in Westerville; a sister and brother-in-law, Marcia and Bill McNerney of Columbus; his best friend, Allen Mann of Centerburg; his mother-in-law, Teresa McElhinny of Fairlawn; and sisters- and brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation was held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, where a prayer service was held. The Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. John Neumann Church with Father James Walter as celebrant. Interment, with military honors by the Delaware County Veterans Association, was in Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at Grady, 561 West Central Avenue, Delaware 43015.

Joy Irwin
Joy M. Irwin, 52, of Sunbury died suddenly Sunday (Nov. 29, 1998) at St. Ann's Hospital.
Born on Nov. 7, 1946, in Columbus to the late Richard Howard and Alma M. (Snelling) Howard of Rolla, Mo., she was the bureau chief and a writer for This Week in Big Walnut.
Surviving are her loving husband of 33 years, Billie K. Irwin; a son and daughter-in-law, Eric N. and Lisa Irwin of Delaware; a daughter, Alicia Irwin of the home; two grandchildren, Megan and Beckie; and a brother, Richard Howard of Ostrander.
Visitation was held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, where a memorial service followed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Paul Jackson
Paul R. Jackson, 73, Galena, died Friday (April 23, 1999).
He was born Aug. 4, 1925, in Orange Township, Delaware County, to the late Carl R. and Hazel G. (Evans) Jackson. A U.S. Army veteran and former prisoner of war during World War II, Paul moved to the Galena area from Franklin County in 1955. He was a retired farmer and letter carrier. He was a member of Galena United Methodist Church, the Delaware County Farm Bureau, National Rural Letter Carriers Association, National Rifle Association and American Legion Jenkins Vaughn Post 97.
Surviving are his loving wife of 39 years, Jane Debolt Jackson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jon and Debbie Jackson, Galena, and Jess and Jackie Jackson, San Diego; two daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Dale Huffman, Delaware, and Gale and Kevin Koehler, Galena; six grandchildren, Cassie and Evan Jackson, Levi and Garrett Koehler and Jenny and Jessica Jackson; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary Sellers, Westerville, Joann and Russ Shepard, Columbus, and Joyce and Ed Linnabary, Gahanna; one brother and sister-in-law, Don and Lou Jackson, Tiffin; a brother-in-law and spouse, Dave and Karen Debolt, Galena; and several aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
Visitation and funeral services was at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury with the Rev. Stacy Evans officiating. Burial, with military honors, followed in Galena Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Galena United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 395, Galena 43021.

Ellen Jacobus
Ellen E. Jacobus, 85, Sunbury, died Saturday (Oct. 2, 1999) at Sunny Vee Nursing Home, Delaware.
She was born in Delaware County on Dec. 18, 1913, to the late Fred and Birtha (Gailey) Jacobus. She was a retired postal clerk with over 20 years of service with the Sunbury Post Office and a member of the Kingston Grange.
She is survived by a special lifelong friend, Bill Cleland of Sunbury.
Calling hours were held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury. Graveside services were held at Sunbury Memorial Park with the Rev. Gerald Davis officiating.

William Janes
William Robert Janes, 74, Piqua, died Thursday (July 22, 1999) at Heartland of Piqua Nursing Home.
He was born in Columbus on Feb. 6, 1925, to the late Clarence Lee and Stella Mae (Wurdack) Janes.
He was a 1942 graduate of Sunbury High School and was a United States Navy veteran having served in WWII. He was the first 17-year-old Ohio man inducted into the United States Naval Air Corps. He was an insurance professional working in the Dayton area for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Catherine Nouse, whom he married on Dec. 31, 1947; two sons, Robert Joseph Janes, Centerville, and Christopher Scott Janes, West Palm Beach, Fla.; and three granddaughters.
Funeral services were held at Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Robert Janes officiating. Burial followed at Forest Hill Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County Inc., 1900 Stanfield Place, P.O. Box 502, Troy 45373.

W. Gayle Jenkins
W. Gayle Jenkins, 78, Sunbury, died early Wednesday (Dec. 23, 1998) at Riverside Methodist Hospital.
She was born March 14, 1920, in Nelsonville to the late Sherman and Blanche Brooks. She moved to Sunbury five years ago from Clintonville. A retired house mother from Scioto School for Girls, she also served as a leader trainer for the Seal of Ohio Girl Scout Council. Mrs. Jenkins enjoyed reading, needlework and civil war history.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Ken Koehler, Sunbury; two grandchildren and their spouses, Kevin and Gale Koehler and Kelly and John Hale, all of Sunbury; five great-grandchildren, Levi, Garrett, Summer, Aaron and Cody; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Gladys and Homer Eggers and Enid and Charles Dunlap, all of Florida; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Jenkins in 1986; and by a brother, Jim Brooks.
Funeral services were at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury. The Rev. Lloyd Huffer officiated. Committal services followed the funeral at Zanesville Memorial Park.

Robert Jenkins
Robert S. Jenkins, 61, Croton, died at his home Saturday (March 18, 2000) following an extended illness.
He was born Dec. 17, 1938, in Duplin County, N.C., to the late Leslie and Sina (Lanier) Jenkins.
A U.S. Air Force veteran, he moved from North Carolina in 1953, and came to the Sunbury area from Dayton in 1976. Before retiring, he held various positions, including quality control for PPG in Circleville. He was a member and elder of Condit Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Frances (Houston) Jenkins; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Stephen and Marsha Jenkins Jr., Westerville, and Scott Andrew and Lura Jenkins, Centerville; a daughter, Sheryl Lynn Jenkins, at home; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Billy and Glenda Jenkins, Wallace, N.C., Bernice and Ann Jenkins, Whiteville, N.C., and Jerry Jenkins of North Carolina; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Shirley and Ralph Connor, Pearl and Troy Carter, and Ruby Rook, all of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; his mother-in-law, Wilma L. Houston, Dayton; four grandchildren; and 28 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edmond and Raymond; and a sister, Georgia Kennedy.
Visitation was held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury. Funeral services were held with the Rev. Carol Weiss officiating. Graveside services were held at Amos Lanier Cemetery, Duplin County, N.C.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at Grady, 561 W. Central Ave., Delaware 43015 or Condit Presbyterian Church, 15102 Hartford Road, Sunbury 43074.

Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Jennings
Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Jennings, 86 of Sunbury, died Tuesday (July 4, 2000) at St. Ann's Hospital.
She is formerly from Columbus, and she retired from the State of Ohio.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Sharon Jennings Jr. of Sunbury; a grandson, John Jennings III; a step-grandchild, Rachel Leamon; a great-granddaughter, Hayden; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Jennings Sr.; a sister, Thelma Piatt; and a brother, Ray Hines.
A graveside service and burial were held at Sunbury Memorial Park. Arrangements were handled by the Johnson-Melick-Moreland Funeral Home, Centerburg.

Miriam P. Jenny
Miriam P. Jenny, 80, died Sunday (Feb. 14, 1999) at Lutheran Village of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Jenny Sr.; and a son, Paul E. Jenny.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Eugene E. and Joanne Jenny Sunbury; one daughter and son-in-law, Ann and the Rev. Kim Wenger, Worthington; four granddaughters and two grandsons-in-laws, Kriss and Kevin Case, Westerville, Heidi and Bryan Gillenwater, Whitehouse, and Katherine and Julianne Wenger Worthington; four great-grandchildren, Sarah and Zoe Case and Adam and Nicholas Gillenwater; one sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and Harold Fiechter; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were at Schoedinger Hilltop Chapel with the Rev. Kim Wenger officiating. Burial was in Sunset Cemetery, Columbus.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Rose of Concern, Lutheran Village of Columbus 935 Cassady Ave., Columbus 43219.

Ed Johnson
Ed Johnson, the recognizable voice of agriculture of Central Ohio, died at the age of 63 of an apparent heart attack last week (February 12, 2001) at Grady Memorial Hospital.
Johnson was the founder of Agri Communications Inc. in 1972 and served as its president. Through his Agri-Broadcasting radio network, Johnson's unique drawl entered homes five days a week from a studio located in the basement of his family farm on Concord Road in southwest Delaware County.
A cattle and grain farmer, Johnson founded the highly-popular television show "Agri Country" which first aired in 1982 on several Ohio outlets. Through its popularity, the show is one of the longest locally-produced syndicated programs in Ohio.
Johnson's programming aired on outlets in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan and West Virginia.
He also published Ohio's Country Journal in addition to his broadcasting.
Johnson was raised on a 230-acre general livestock farm in Fairfield county southeast of Columbus. He held a bachelor's degree in agricultural economics and agricultural education from the Ohio State University.
Johnson did his student teaching at Scioto Valley High School (now Buckeye Valley West Elementary) in Ostrander. He had been honored as the Ostrander Business Association Citizen of the Year and served as master of ceremonies for the village's annual Fourth of July parade. He was a lay leader and longtime Sunday School teacher at Bellpoint United Methodist Church.
He was a United States Navy veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Marilyn (Solt); two children and spouses, Dr. Julie Johnson and John Lima and Bart and Sheryl Johnson; a foster child and spouse, Julie and Kevin Volbert; seven grandchildren, Adam, Eric and Nathan Johnson, Sarah and Elizabeth Lima, and Gage and Lauren Volbert; two brothers, J. Lyndon Johnson and Gary Johnson; a sister, Karen Johnson; other relatives; and many friends.
Visitation was held at Rutherford Funeral Home, Powell. Funeral services were held at Bellpoint UM Church with the Rev. Tim Reeves officiating, and interment was in Oller Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ed Johnson Scholarship Fund, College of Agriculture, Ohio State University; the Ohio 4-H Learning Center at Ohio State University; or Bellpoint United Methodist Church.
