Esther E. McCormick
Esther E. McCormick, 92, Sunbury, died Tuesday (May 14, 2002) at the Village of Westerville. She was the community historian and author of four published books about the area and her pioneer family.
She was born on May 9, 1910 in Gallia County to the late Dale and Carrie (Mills) McCormick. Esther was a devoted teacher and taught home economics for the Sunbury, Centerburg and Madison County school systems as well as for The Ohio State University, Otterbein College and the Ohio School for the Blind.
Esther was an amateur artist specializing in still lifes and rural landscapes, and an accomplished musician. She was a former pianist and organist for the Sunbury United Methodist Church where she was an 80-year member.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Nincehelser, Sally VanAuken and Frances Harrington.
She is survived by three nieces, Carol Wirick and Rachel Stockwell, both of Sunbury, and Caroline Dick of Arizona; a nephew, Stuart VanAuken of Florida; and by grand nieces and nephews and by great nieces and nephews.
Friends called at Sunbury United Methodist Church, Ohio 3 and Ohio 37, where services followed with the Reverend Brian Smith officiating. Interment followed at Sunbury Memorial Park.
Arrangements were by DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury.

Marjorie G. McCoy
Marjorie G. McCoy, 81, Marengo, died Tuesday (Jan. 5, 1999) at Grady Memorial Hospital.
She was born Jan. 10, 1917, in West Virginia. She had lived in Marengo for 12 years.
Mrs. McCoy was retired after seven years with Whipple's Little Giant store, Ashley.
She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Luanne Gale, Marengo, and Gailene and Pat Morton, Bradenton, Fla.; and six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her husband, Charles L. McCoy, died in 1971.
Visiting hours were held at Bennett Brown Rodman Funeral Home, Ashley. Funeral services were held and burial followed in Fairview Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the activity group at The Arbors at Delaware, 2270 Warrensburg Road, Delaware 43015.

Ralph V. McCoy Sr.
Ralph V. McCoy Sr., 75, of Marengo, died on Saturday (Aug. 8, 1998) at Riverside Hospital.
Mr. McCoy was born on May 11, 1923, in Ceredo, W.Va., to the late Sherman and Sadie (Walker) McCoy. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he moved to Marengo from Columbus in 1979. He retired after 20 years of employment as a postal worker at the Columbus Main Post Office.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers.
Surviving are his loving wife of 52 years, Margie L. (Massie) McCoy; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ralph Jr. and Betty McCoy of Grove City, Kenneth McCoy of Reynoldsburg, and Charles and Jeannie McCoy of Amlin; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Clayton Miller of Grandview, and Connie and Craig Martin of Centerburg; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three aunts; and his nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Marengo, where funeral services were held with the Rev. Jack Marcum officiating. Interment was in Fargo Cemetery.

Harold McCurdy
Harold William McCurdy, 69, of Edison died May 5 at Morrow County Hospital Extended Care Unit following an extended illness.
He was born March 7, 1930, to the late John William and Georgie Disbennett McCurdy.
He moved to the Morrow County area as a teenager and was employed by Snyder Milling Service of Marengo and Sharrock Elevator in Edison.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Judy McCurdy of Marion, Harold Wayne and Dawn Marie McCurdy of Johnsville, and John William and Candy McCurdy of Edison; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Mary McCurdy of Marengo.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eva McFarland McCurdy; five brothers, Forrest, Russell, Darwin, Gerald and Elmer; and a sister, Bertha.
The funeral services were arranged by the Craven Funeral Home. Burial was in Rivercliff Cemetery.

Earl McElroy Jr.
Earl McElroy Jr., 76, of Findlay and formerly of Howard, died on Monday (December 31, 2001) at the Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay.
He was born on March 7, 1925, in Knox County to the late Earl and Maude (Rush) McElroy Sr. A retired employee of American National Can, Mount Vernon, he was a United States Marine Corps veteran during World War II and a member of Greer Wesleyan Church.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death on April 25, 1990, by his first wife, Florence V. (Newell) McElroy, whom he married on September 21, 1946; a daughter, Shirley Salmons; a brother, Roy McElroy; two sisters, Vera Silliman and Letha Beach; and a grandson.
Surviving are his wife, Marilyn Daniels-McElroy, whom he married on December 16, 1995; two daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and Mike Swingley of Apple Valley and Nancy and Roger Tucker of Danville; a son, Michael McElroy of Danville; a stepson, Jack Daniels of Arizona; two stepdaughters, Arliti Plauffe of Montana and Shari Lynn Daniels of Indiana; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Harvey McElroy of Sunbury and Floyd McElroy of Mount Vernon.
Visitation was held and funeral services were held at Fischer Funeral Home, Danville, with the Reverend Lloyd Miller officiating. Burial was in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.

Harvey McElroy
Harvey G. McElroy, 86, Sunbury, died Monday evening (December 31, 2001) at his residence.
He was born in Danville on November 27, 1915, to the late Henry E. and Maude Rush McElroy Sr. He was a retired farmer and had lived in the area since 1924, having come from Danville. He was a member of the Delaware County Farm Bureau.
He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Donald and Maggie McElroy Sr. of Arlington, Virginia, and James McElroy of Sunbury; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Rose Ella and Bob Grove of Sunbury, Jane and Oscar Jones of Dublin, Betty Ann and Roger Gardner of Annadale, Va., and Kay McElroy of Xenia; a brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Harriet McElroy of Mount Vernon; a sister-in-law, Marilyn McElroy of Findlay; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Barbara Bruce of Xenia.
Preceding him in death on December 16, 1994, was his wife of 58 years, Martha (Murphey) McElroy, whom he married on October 16, 1936; two brothers, Roy and Earl McElroy Jr.; and two sisters, Letha Beach and Vera Silliman.
Visitation was held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, where funeral services were held with the Reverend Brian Grove officiating. Interment was in Trenton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Delaware County Hospice, 561 West Central Avenue, Delaware 43015.

Richard McElwee
Richard R. McElwee, 64, Center Village, died at home with his family Friday (June 11, 1999) after a brief illness.
He was born in Center Village on Feb. 1, 1935, to the late Ross A. and Lola (Powers) McElwee.
Mr. McElwee was a lifelong resident and farmer in Harlem Township, a 1953 graduate of Big Walnut High School and a member of the Harlem Boys Breakfast Club. He was a U.S. Navy Reserve veteran, with 20 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carol (Feazel) McElwee; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Allen and Kristy, Johnstown, Bruce and Barb, Cardington, and Tom, San Fransisco; five daughters and two sons-in-law, Sue and Bob Stewart, Martinsburg, Donna and Tom Youngless, Hillsboro, Ill., Beth Cruse, Westerville, Brenda Compo, Westerville, and Pam McElwee, Williams, Ore.; nine grandchildren, Bryon and Anne McElwee, Jennifer and Matthew Youngless, Courtney and Kimberly Cruse and Trista, Crystal and Ben Compo; his father- and mother-in-law, Earl and Donna Feazel; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Kenny Feazel, Butch and Judy Feazel, Wanda Feazel, and Maxine (Feazel) and Ray Fling; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by numerous aunts and uncles who guided him through his early life and a grandson, Chad A. Gayheart.
Visitation was at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury. Funeral services were held with the Rev. Robert Mazzie officiating. Burial followed in Fancher Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grant/Riverside Hospice or James Cancer Hospital.

Alma L. McGee
Alma L. McGee, 96, Columbus, died Sunday morning at Friendship Village in Columbus.
She was born in Delaware County on June 6, 1904 to the late Frank and Herminnie (Mulzer) Bower. She was a homemaker and a member of the Sunbury Garden Club and the Shamrockers of Dublin Community Church.
McGee is survived by grandchildren Jamie (Eric A.) Boone of Columbus and Mike (Lori) McGee of Cardington; step-granddaughter Dawn Riley of Marengo; nieces Sylvia Brown of Madison, Wis.and Connie (Paul) Cline of Ostrander; seven great-grandchildren Karl, Ean, Zachery, Kelsey, Taylor, Kiona and Cody; and two step-granddaughter Alan and Crystal.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles "Mike" McGee and son Jim McGee.
Graveside services were held at the Sunbury Memorial Park with the Rev. Larry A. Griffin officiating. Arrangements were in care of the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury.

Patrick McGovern
Patrick Stanley McGovern, 60, Columbus, died Tuesday (Sept. 21, 1999).
He attended Aquinas and Linden McKinley High Schools.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Lee, and father Thomas Edward McGovern.
He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Pat and Pam McGovern, Mike and Kristi McGovern and Mark and Tracy McGovern; three daughters and sons-in-law, Beth and Mike Gafkjen, Joan and Tom Priest, Terri and Roby Zieschang; his mother, Ruth Elizabeth McGovern; one brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Angie McGovern; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were at Moreland Funeral Home, Westerville. A graveside service was held at Resurrection Cemetery with the Rev. Fred Albrecht officiating.

Alexis Inez McKenzie
Alexis Inez McKenzie, 5, Prospect, died unexpectedly Sunday afternoon (April 29, 2001) following an accident on Ohio 203 in Delaware County.
She was born in Delaware on October 12, 1995 to Anthony and Ann (Collins) McKenzie of Prospect. Alexis attended preschool at Liberty Community Children's Center in Delaware and was looking forward to the start of T-ball season.
She loved life, enjoyed people, helping other children and her special friends at Willowbrook. In addition to her family, the significant joys of her life were her dog, Cinderella, and her horse, Ah-Blaze. She collected rocks, change (money) and dolls.
Alexis was a member of Fargo Wesleyan Church.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Anthony II and Adam McKenzie; grandparents, Jim and Sharon Rhurmund of Cardington, Elaine McKenzie of Reynoldsburg and Allen McKenzie of Centerburg; great-grandparents, Helen and Ed Coffee of Sunbury and Juanita Meeker of Sunbury; an aunt, Mary Collins of Sunbury; an uncle, Joe Collins of Columbus; great aunts and uncles, Sandy and Jim Coffee and Peggy and Dick Ford of Sunbury, and Jenney and Don Sherman of Cardington; cousins, Chris Coffee of Sunbury and Tiffany Collins of Florida; a special aunt and uncle, Elizabeth and Cedric Wilson of Sunbury; and a second mom, Stella Eufracio of Delaware.
Visitation was at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury. Funeral services followed visitation with Pastors Cedric Wilson and Robert Clevenger officiating. Burial was in Prospect Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made in her name to the Liberty Community Children's Center, 207 London Road, Delaware, Ohio 43015.
