Doris Pelow
Doris A. Pelow, 69, of Sunbury, died Friday afternoon (Sept. 29, 2000) at Sunbury Nursing Home.
Born on Nov. 24, 1930, in Ogdenberg, N.Y., to the late John and Bernadine (Osier) Pelow, she was a former private-duty licensed practical nurse and moved to Sunbury from New York in 1995.
She is survived by three nephews and spouses, Alan and Donna Pelow and John and Carol Pelow, all of Centerburg, and Bernard Pelow of Austin, Texas; and a niece, Doris Renee Pelow of Denver, Colo.
Private services will be held for the family at a later date, and arrangements are in the care of DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury.

Eleanor Juliann (Ross) Perfect
Eleanor Juliann (Ross) Perfect, 76, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday (September 11, 2001) at Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware.
Eleanor was born July 15, 1925 in Sunbury, Trenton Township, Delaware County, Ohio. She was recently a resident of Wintersong Care Center in Delaware. Eleanor was a loving, giving wife and mother.
She was preceded in death by parents Benjamin and Cora (Boston) Ross; two sisters, Edna Shrigley and Mabel Bricker; and by four brothers, Bernard Ross, Russell Ross, Damon Ross and Ernst Ross Sr.
Eleanor is survived by her husband of 55 years, Neal E. Perfect of Delaware; a sister, Beulah Edwards of Worthington; a daughter, Teresa (Dale) Wilgus of Delaware; two sons, Mark (Kim) Perfect of Columbus and Gary (Carla) Perfect of Worthington; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Sunday (September 16, 2001) at 4 p.m. at the Condit Presbyterian Church outside of Sunbury.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, any donations be made to the Condit Presbyterian Church.

Leroy Perfect Sr.
Leroy Franklin Perfect Sr., 93, died Tuesday (April 2, 2002) at Margaret Mary Hospital, Batesville, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther (Kenney) Perfect.
Surviving are six children, Leroy, L. Douglas, Julia (Teuschler), Ellen, and Kay (Bohman); 19 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
Visitation hours and the funeral service was held at Paul R. Young Funeral Home, Cincinnati.
Interment will be in Sunbury Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Delaware County Genealogical Society, P.O. Box 1126, Delaware, Ohio 43015; the Franklin County Antique Machinery Club, 146 Harrison Road, Brookville, Indiana 47012; the FARM Club, 7735 Indiana 48, Aurora, Indiana. 47001; or the charity of your choice.

Mary Evelyn Perry
Mary Evelyn Perry, 78, of Westerville, died on Saturday morning (July 18, 1998) at her home.
She was born in Morrow County on April 3, 1920, to the late Owen and Freda (Woods) Denton. She was a homemaker and lived in Westerville for 14 years, having previously lived in Sunbury for 35 years and Cardington for 16 years.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry R. and Maria of League City, Tx., and Douglas and Ramona of Westerville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Connie Perry of Columbus and Barbara A. and Jerry Hoff of Grove City; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Virgil Denton and Richard and Kay Denton, all of Cardington; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia and Joe Kisor of Cardington and Maxine and Johnny Bont of Mount Gilead.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Robert R. Perry, who died on January 3, 1998; a son, Carl Robert Perry, who died on Nov. 8, 1967; one brother, Pete; and one sister, Edith McClish.
Visitation was at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Sunbury, where the funeral service was held with the Rev. Arthur Schultz officiating. Interment was in Sunbury Memorial Park.

Robert R. Perry
Robert R. Perry, 81, of Westerville, died Saturday (Jan. 3, 1998) morning at his residence. He was a former Sunbury area resident for 35 years, spending 16 years in Cardington.
Born in Sunbury on Oct. 10, 1916 to the late Clarence R. and Iva Dell (Payne) Perry, he was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a former member of Sunbury United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church in Cardington. A retired banker with 25 years of service at Sunbury Savings and Loan as assistant secretary and treasurer, he was also the assistant vice president at the People's Bank in Cardington, Marengo, and Mt. Gilead. He was also the past commander of Benson Hough Post No. 457 in Sunbury, the Sunbury Village Clerk from 1947-1955, a cemetery board member for Sunbury and Cardington, a former member of the Cardington Rotary Club, and a former Cardington Council member.
He is survived by his living wife of 58 years, M. Evelyn (Denton) Perry; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry R. and Maria Perry of League City, Tx., and J. Douglas and Romona Perry of Westerville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Connie Perry of Columbus and Barbara and Jerry Hoff of Grove City; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Gladys Perry of Centerburg and Dorothy and Ken Owen of Sunbury.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Carl Robert Perry on Nov. 8, 1967; four brothers, Carl, Paul, Walt, and Lester; and three sisters, Marie Grooms, Louise Day, and Eva Gutridge.
Visitation was held at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, where services were officiated by the Rev. Arthur L. Schultz. Interment was in the Sunbury Memorial Park with military graveside rites by the Benson Hough Post No. 457.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital.

James Nelson "Cowboy Jim" Petit
James Nelson "Cowboy Jim" Petit, 72, Sunbury, formerly of Chesapeake, died Monday (December 3, 2001) at Sunbury Nursing Home, where he was a resident for 13 years.
James was a former member of Baptist Temple.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Garnetta Petit.
Surviving are a brother, Bernard Petit of Dothan, Alabama, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at Highland Cemetery, Huntington with burial following. Visitation was held at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home, Chesapeake.

Ruth Pierce
Ruth A. Pierce, 69, Sunbury, died Friday (March 24, 2000) at Morning View Care Center.
She was born in Galena on Nov. 7, 1930, to the late Leo and Edna (Bullock) Barcus.
She was a lifelong member of the Sunbury and Columbus areas.
She is survived by two sons, Brad and Kevin Pierce, both Sunbury; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Doris and Eugene Wampler and Betty Garee, all Sunbury, one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Dorothy Barcus, Sunbury; and one grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a son, Keith; an infant sister; and a brother-in-law, Bill Garee.
Graveside services were held in Trenton Cemetery with the Rev. Weldon Stockwell officiating. Arrangments were handled by DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Activities Fund of Morning View Care Center, 14961 N. Old 3C Highway, Sunbury.

Charles L. Pickering
Charles L. Pickering, 80, Galena, died Tuesday evening (September 10, 2002) at St. Ann's Hospital, Westerville.
He was born on February 7, 1922, in Plain City to the late Claude S. and Ethel E. (Forwood) Pickering. A graduate of Johnstown High School and a veteran of the United States Air Force in World War II, he was a lifelong resident of Licking and Delaware counties. He was a master of all trades, including construction, autobody and welding. He received a craftsmanship award from Builders Exchange of Columbus in 1975 for finish carpentry.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister.
Surviving are his loving wife of 54 years, Carrie Alviani; two daughters and a son-in-law, Patricia E. and Bill Rhodes of Mount Vernon and Donna L. Morrison of Columbus; a son, Larry A. Pickering of Buckeye Lake; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters; and one brother.
Visitation was held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, with graveside services held at 11 a.m. in Fancher Cemetery. The services will be conducted by family and friends, with military honors provided by the honor guard of Sunbury VFW Post 8736.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.

Gladys Pickett
Gladys I. Pickett, 67, of Prospect, died at her residence on Tuesday evening (June 5, 2001).
She was born in Richland Township, Marion County, on December 7, 1933, to the late Oscar and Nellie (Witzel) Kauffeld. The homemaker assisted on the family farm and was of the Lutheran faith. She graduated from Claridon High School in 1951 and lived in the Prospect area since March of 1960.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Chapman.
Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Robert E. Pickett, whom she married on October 18, 1952, in Marion; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Ronald E. and Christine Pickett of Radnor, Donald A. Pickett of Marion, and Robert D. Pickett of Radnor; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia A. and Tom Miller of Sunbury and Jennifer and James Bosley of Waldo; six grandchildren, Susan and Heather Miller, Natalie Pickett, and Jacob, Dakota and Brandon Bosley.
Visitation was held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Delaware, where services were held with the Rev. Daniel Kiger officiating, and under the direction of her son-in-law, Tom Miller, director. Burial followed in Claridon Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Marion General Quality of Life Hospice, 458 East Center Street, Marion 43302.

Mildred Pickett
Mildred J. Pickett, 93 of Marion, died monday afternoon (May 17, 1999) at Community Nursing Center.
She was born in Marion on Jan. 25, 1906 to the late Hayes and Grace (Kennedy) Holland. She was a member of the Claridon United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and former Friendly Gardener's Club.
She is survived by duaghters and sons-in-law, Betty J. and Paul Thomas of Caledonia, Martha E. and Carl Johnson of Phoenix, and Grace Snowden of San Diego; sons and daughters-in-law Robert and Gladys Pickett of Prospect, John "Jack" and Shirley Pickett or Marion, Glen Dean Pickett of Phoenix and Thomas C. and Karen Pickett of Marion; daugter-in-law Mae Pickett of Marseilles; 28 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn F. Pickett on Nov., 19, 1980, son James W. Pickett, sister Freda Babcock in 1945 and one grandson.
Services were held at the Denzer-Farsion-Hottinger Funeral Home with the Rev. Roderick Grabski officiating. Burial followed in Marion Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Claridon United Methodist Church or First Consolidated Fire Dept.
Arrangements by DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury.
