Lucile Hinkle
Lucile Martin Hinkle, 89, of Huron, died Monday (Jan. 27, 2003) at Providence Care Center, Sandusky, after a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 30, 1913, in Morrow County to Walter and Sue Martin. She graduated with honors from Ashley High School and Bliss Business College in Columbus. She worked in the commercial sales department of Columbus & Southern Ohio Electric Co. for 23 years. She was a Girl Scout leader and member of the Order of Eastern Star, Ashley chapter. She moved to Huron in 1971.
She was an accomplished seamstress and liked reading, needlework, camping, boating and golfing. She was a member of the Thunderbird Hills Ladies golf league and served as treasurer. Her late husband and she enjoyed boating on Lake Erie, the islands and Georgian Bay. They were members of the Columbus Power Squadron, completing several boating and navigation courses. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Huron, and the Huron Yacht Club.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Carole and David Dreffer of Huron, and Sherry and Stanley Lutz, of Amherst; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Max Hinkle, in 1993; a brother, Bill Martin; and sisters Helen Tilton, Jane Powers, and Marguerite Rosselot.
Friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday at the Foster Funeral Home, 410 Main St., Huron. A memorial service will follow. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date in Ashley Cemetery, Ashley.
Contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church, 338 Williams St., Huron, Ohio 44839; or to the American Lung Association of Ohio’s South Shore, 226 Ohio 61, East Norwalk, Ohio 44857.

James Buechel
James A. Buechel, 71, of Delaware, died Monday (Jan. 27, 2003) at home.
He was born Aug. 25, 1931, in Centerline, Mich., to Anthony and Ruth (Revard) Buechel. In 1958, Mr. Buechel founded Rotary Products Inc. in Columbus, then moved the company to Ashley about 23 years ago. He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
Mr. Buechel is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty Ann; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gary and Marcia Buechel and Chris Buechel, all of Ashley; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Kay and Willie Fannin of Powell; and seven grandchildren, Andrew, Jenna, Elizabeth, Alexander, Joseph, Adam and Benjamin.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at Grady, 561 W. Central Ave., Delaware OH 43015, or to Meals on Wheels, 55 W. Lincoln Ave., Delaware OH 43015.
Arrangements are being handled by Rutherford Funeral Home at Powell, 450 W. Olentangy St.

Robert Smith
Robert E. Smith, 75, of Delaware, died Wednesday (Jan. 29, 2003) at Grady Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 12, 1927, in Waldo to Elza and Agnes (Steitz) Smith. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran who earned the highest rank of corporal, as well as a Victory Medal. Smith was a member of the Warrensburg United Methodist Church and the Waldo Sportsman Club. He enjoyed fishing and often traveled to Lake Erie to do so.
Smith is survived by three daughters, Sandra Roark and her husband, Everett, of Delaware, Kathy Stevens of Richwood, and Mary Ann Darst and her husband, David, of Delaware; six grandchildren, Sherry Striblin and her husband, Melvin, of North Carolina, Thomas Stevens of Maine, Rhea Szarka of Springfield, Dawna Malisiak and her husband, Richard, of Ostrander, Jarrod Roark and his wife, Janette, of Delaware, and Philip Roark of Delaware; 10 great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Mark Stevens, Madelyn and Kira Szarka, Jennah, Justin and Joseph Malisiak, Evan and Faith Roark, and Cameron Striblin; and special friend and companion, Betty Dutt, of Waldo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Madeline Smith, in Oct. 1991; brother, Charles Ray Smith, in 1996; and sister, Caroline Seiter, in 2001.
Visitation will be Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bennett Brown Rodman Funeral Home, 92 N. Sandusky St., Delaware, where funeral services will also be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Carl Stover will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park, with Delaware County Veterans Association providing military honors.

Mary Zoladz
Wenceslaus Mary Karwoski Zoladz, 94, died Tuesday (Jan. 28, 2003) in the Centrum of Willow Brook.
She was born Sept. 28, 1908 in Pittsburgh to Apolinaris and Maryann Karwoski. Formerly of Lansing, Mich., she is remembered for her love of her family, her strength, support, and encouragement. Her strong faith and her positive attitude were hallmarks of her character.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Walter, two brothers and five sisters.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Carol Zoladz of Lyons, Mich., and Gerald and Patti Zoladz of Powell; three daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and Dr. Dennis Brooks of Pepper Pike, Kathleen and Ralph Swick of Thornville, and Marian Sue and Bruce Rossiter of Dublin; eight grandchildren, Kimberly McBain and her husband James, Jill Jansen and her husband Christopher, all of Mich., Jennifer Rowe and her husband Charles of Cambridge, Colin and his wife Jennifer Monahan of Hilliard, Christopher Monahan and fiancée April Sweeny of Worthington, Jeremy and Susan Zoladz of Columbus, and Betsy Zoladz of Powell; step-grandmother of Allison Schley and her husband William of Wisconsin, Lynn Dittoe and her husband Todd of Thornville, and Ralph Swick III and his wife Crystal of Pleasantville; great-grandchildren Leah, Dalton and Madelyn Jensen of Mich., Megan and Zachery Schley, Garrett Dittoe, and Caleb and Rachel Swick; and sister-in-law Theresa “Ted” Doty of St. Clairsville.
Services will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Brookside. Funeral liturgy with Mass will be Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wolfhurst, officiated by Monsignor Mark Froehlich. Burial will be in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.

Scott Milum Jr.
Scott Milum Jr., 65, of Delaware, died Wednesday (June 18, 2003) at his home.
He was born April 15, 1938 in Portsmouth to the late Scott Milvan Sr. and Sarah (Jackson) Milum. Mr. Milum had worked as a custodian and pin handler for Delaware Lanes and retired from Glenwood Range, where he had worked as an assembler for 32 years.
He was a Cleveland Indians fan, enjoyed bowling, playing baseball with his family and country music. His favorite singer was Hank Williams Jr.; he also was a friend of Roy Rogers.
He is survived by a brother, Cecil Milum of Delaware; a sister, Mural Ullman of Rittman; a nephew and care provider, Charles “Tom” Milum of Delaware; a niece, Shirley Lockhart of Delaware; and several other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, William E. Milum and Robert Milum; and four sisters, Vada Williams, Elsie Morgan, Violet Milum and Bertha Mae Smith.
Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St., where a funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. with his brother, Cecil Milum, officiating. Burial will follow in Green Mound Cemetery.

Dorothy Jane Price
Dorothy Jane Price, 77, of Sunbury, died Wednesday morning (Aug. 27, 2003) at her residence.
She was born Oct. 17, 1925 in Morris, Ill., to Russell Mayes and Debra Taylor Mayes. She was a homemaker and member of Christ Presbyterian Church of Columbus. She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, John G. and Karol of Worthington, Tim and Ronda of Dublin, Ron and Jeana of Delaware, and Rusty and Susan of Marengo; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Harold Mayes of Delaware, Russell Mayes of Mountain Home, Idaho and Lowell Mayes of Huntington, W.Va.; and one sister, Jo Gray of Mount Vernon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Price, in 1987; great-grandson Cody Price; and a brother, Vernon Mayes.
Visiting hours are Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Bennett Brown Rodman Funeral Home, 92 N. Sandusky St., where funeral services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Marlboro Cemetery.

James M. ‘Jim’ Wade Jr.
James M. “Jim” Wade Jr., 77, of Hyatts, died early Wednesday morning (Aug. 27, 2003) at Riverside Methodist Hospital.
He was born Nov. 21, 1925 in Worthington to Jim and Mabel Sickles Wade. He was a retired mechanic from the Ohio Department of Transportation. He had been a lifetime central Ohio resident, was a member of the Hyatts United Methodist Church, the Odd Fellows Lodge, and was past Grand Noble for the Rebecca Lodge. He also was an avid card player.
He is survived by a sister, Marjorie Bullock of Mount Vernon; a brother and sister-in-law, Herbert and Dorothy Wade of Hilliard; a sister-in-law and her husband, Barbara and Harold Spellman of Delaware; a sister-in-law, Marlene Wade of London; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shelby, in 1985; two brothers, Howard Wade and Wayne Sickles; and a sister, Florence Jean Overholt.
Visiting hours will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bennett Brown Funeral Home, 92 N. Sandusky St. Funeral services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Hyatts United Methodist Church, with Pastor Tim Reeves officiating. Burial will be in Oller Cemetery.

Freda Mae Weiser
Freda Mae Weiser, 82, of Ashley, died Tuesday evening (Jan. 27, 2004) at her residence.
She was born April 17, 1921 in Waldo, to Walter and Georgia (Hough) Ruggles. She was a homemaker and a farmer and lived most of her life in Delaware County. She was a member of the Westfield United Methodist Church, was employed by Ranco Manufacturing during the 1970s and enjoyed fishing, her family and family activities.
She is survived by a son, Jon (Joan) Weiser of Kilbourne; a daughter, Nancy Jay Weiser of Ashley; three grandchildren, JoDee Cole, Joyce Leienberger, and Cara Weiser; four great-grandchildren, Joseph Pennington, Matthew Cole, JoAnn Leienberger, and Lisa Leienberger; two great-great-grandchildren, Hailey and Cole Pennington; one brother, Jake Ruggles, of Morrow County; four sisters, Opal Nichols of Delaware, Donna Martin, Rose Hayes and Mary Cowl, all of Ashley; brother-in-law, Dr. Robert Weiser of Parkersburg, W.Va.; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Richard Weiser, in 1998; and three sisters, Laverna Holtz, Doris Shaw, and Dorothy Lang.
Visiting hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Bennett Brown Rodman Funeral Home, 307 E. High St., Ashley, where funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Waldo Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at Grady or to the Westfield United Methodist Church.

Marlyn J. Burr
Marlyn J. Burr, 68, formerly of Delaware, died Friday (Dec. 12, 2003).
She was born July 31, 1935 to Thomas and Virginia Swearingen Appleman. She attended Summit Station High School. She was formerly of Pataskala and Gahanna. She was a member of Hyatts United Methodist Church, VFW Auxiliary 3761 of Baltimore, AMVETS Auxiliary 102 of Delaware and the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; a son and daughter-in-law, William and Peggy Burr of Springfield; a daughter, Stephanie, of Delaware; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Beverly and Bill Whited of Val Rico, Fla., and Ruth Appleman of Pataskala; a brother, John Appleman of Gahanna; two grandsons, Trent Keffer and Tommy Lilly; three granddaughters, Shana Ward, Tara Hansen and Nanci Ables; many great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Monica.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Roberta; one son, Tommy Burr; and a grandson, Michael Keffer.
There will be a memorial service Sunday at 1 p.m. at Hyatts UMC, 6000 Liberty Road, Powell. Interment will be at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Bennett Brown Rodman Funeral Home.

Sandra R. Cantrell
Sandra R. Cantrell, 61, of Centerburg, died Monday morning (Dec. 15, 2003) at Morning View Care Center.
She was born in Columbus on May 25, 1942 to the late Ohmar and Frances (Keller) Rhoads. She was active in a breast cancer support group. She was a member of Grace Chapel Community Church and loved all her animals.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Karla of Westerville and Steve and Sonja of Centerburg; a daughter, Vicki Cantrell of Centerburg; grandchildren, Jessica, Paige, Skye and Joshua; three brothers, Don Rhoads, Anson (Pam) Rhoads, all of Marengo, and Larry Rhoads of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a sister, Becky Morgan, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and best friend, Bud Cantrell, of Sunbury.
Visiting hours will be Friday one hour prior to the noon memorial service at Grace Chapel Community Church, 7798 Big Walnut Road, Westerville, with Pastor James Meacham officiating. DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, is assisting the family with arrangements.
