Anthony A. Pierce
Anthony A. Pierce, age 86 of Navarre, OH died Wednesday August 15, 2001 in Altercare of Navarre where he had been a resident since January 2000. He was born on February 15, 1915 in Willock, PA. He was a retired welder from Babcock Wilcox with 20 years service. He had previously worked at E.W. Bliss. He was also an avid Dairy Farmer. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Strasburg, OH. Preceded in death by his wife, Katherine E. Pierce, March 1, 2001, parents, Antonnio and Vid (Resic) Piercer, and 3 brothers. Survived by two daughters, Mrs. Randy (Joan) Burrier, and Elaine Pierce, both of Navarre, OH; step-daughter, Mrs. Dwight (Martha) Netzly, of Navarre, OH; step-son, Robert D. Emerick, of Navarre, OH; sister, Mary Tecca, of Niles, OH; brother, Edward Pierce, of Lisbon, OH. Funeral services will be held at Atkinson-Feucht-Shaidnagle, Navarre, at 11:00 a.m. Saturday with Rev. David Harmon officiating. Interment will be in East Union Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Bryant McFadden
Dorsie Mae Bryant McFadden, 76, went home to be with the Lord August 11, 2001, at Laurel of Massillon after of long illness. She was a lifetime member of the Massillon Community. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, deaconess, former senior choir member and pastor's aid. She was employed by Ecko Houseware for 15 years, retiring in 1986. She leaves to cherish her memory sons, Johnny MoMo (Vickie) McFadden, of Canton, OH, Gerald Butch (Eddie Mae) Harris of San Antonio, TX; daughters, Cordella Pee Wee Davis of Canton, OH, Lula Sue Trammell, of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Jeannie Atwood of Colton, CA, Juanita McFadden of Massillon, OH; sisters, Theresa Spencer, Ira Jean Clark, Delores Holloway, all of Massillon, OH; brother, Cornelius Clark of Austin, TX, Danny Clark of Massillon; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Shiloh Baptist Church, Rev. David Dodson, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Memorial Garden. Friends may call at the church from 12 noon-1 p.m. Procession will form and condolences may be sent to 780 Johnson St. S.E., Massillon, OH 44646.

Gertrude I. Malloy
Gertrude I. Malloy, age 93, of Canton, passed away Tuesday evening Aug. 14, 2001, in the House of Loreto following an extended illness. She was of the Catholic faith and was a former real estate agent. She was preceded in death by her husband, Randall A. in 1980. Survived by her son, Randall (Indra) Malloy of Lakewood; sisters, Alma Elseser, Dorothy Allred; brother, Don Franz, all of Canton; grandchildren, Lara Baker and David Malloy; great-grandson, Samuel Baker. Private funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. with Fr. Joseph Ruggieri officiating in the Don Williams Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the House of Loreto.

H. Wayne Russell
H. Wayne Russell. One of the most revered and compassionate educators of the North Canton School System,
H. Wayne Russell, died Tuesday, August 14, 2001, at his home. He was 93 years of age, having been born in 1907 in Chesterfield Township, Fulton County, OH. Russell graduated from Defiance College in 1929 with majors in history, physical science, mathematics and education. He received a masters degree from Ohio State university in 1936 with a major in school administration. In 1938, Russell came to North Canton High School and retired in 1970 with 32 years in North Canton and a total of 42 years in education. During his tenure he not only taught chemistry, but served 28 years as high school principal and three years as assistant superintendent. His first teaching job was at Lyons (Ohio) High School serving as high school principal in 1929. The next year he moved to Chesterfield Township Schools and served as teacher and local superintendent for five years. In 1935, Russell moved to Canal Fulton High School where he was a teacher and served as principal there for three years. Russell assisted as a football coach at North Canton as well as coaching seventh and eighth grade basketball and the debate teams. Russell was an active Canal Fulton and North Canton Rotary Club member for 47 years and served as president in 1949 and 1950 of the North Canton Rotary Club. He was named a Paul Harris Fellow, The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International. He has served on the YMCA board and as a Hi-Y advisor to boys. Church membership has been with the Community Christian Church where he served as Sunday School Teacher and as an elder for 14 years. He has served on the North Canton Alumni Association board and was named to their Hall of Distinction in 1993. He was a Mason of Gorham Fayette Lodge #387 and a 32 degree Mason (Scottish Rite Valley of Canton). The long-time popular educator, kept in touch with his students, many of whom have gone on to very successful careers. He was a rare combination of teacher/administrator/ friend. He is survived by his wife, Alice Mae to whom he has been married 69 years; and his daughters, Barbara Donaho and Mary Lou Phipps, both of Stow; granddaughter, Karen Lynn Johnston (Wesley) of Elida, OH; grandson, Edwin Wayne Donaho of St. Paul, MN; and his sister, Floy Graffice of Woodville, OH; great-grandchildren, Alissa Mae, Amanda Kay, Andrea Michelle and Michael Wesley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Blanche and Edwin Russell; and his brother, Gerald. Services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Community Christian Church with Dr. Donald Baird officiating. Friends may call Friday 5-8 p.m. at Karlo-Feucht Funeral Home, 5000 Everhard Rd. NW. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Morenci, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the North Canton Alumni Association Scholarship Fund, c/o Hoover High School, 525 7th St. NE, North Canton, OH 44720, in Honor of Mr. Russell.

Harold E. Panke
Harold E. Panke, age 78, of Canton, passed away Tuesday morning in Aultman Hospital. He was born in Buffalo, NY, a son of the late Alexander C. and Essie Lisk Panke, and had been a Canton resident since 1967. He was a 1950 graduate of Case Institute of Technology with a Degree in Electrical Engineering, and where he was a founding member of Tau Omega Fraternity. Mr. Panke was a retired General Contractor. He was a member of Lyndhurst Lodge #508, F A.M. in Lyndhurst, OH, and served as Master of the former East Shore Lodge #709, F A.M. in 1960; also a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Cleveland; Al Koran Temple and the Patrol Club of the Temple; American Legion Post #343 in Euclid, OH; and the Case Alumni Assoc. He was an avid fisherman and lived to go to Canada to the family fishing cottage. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. Preceded in death by a brother, Charles Panke. He was a devoted husband and father who always put his family above all else. Survived by his wife, Elaine M. Panke, with whom he celebrated their 58th Wedding Anniversary on July 3rd; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Edward Zastawney, of San Antonio, TX; two sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Janet Panke, of Peachtree City, GA, and Alan and Cindy Panke, of Tulsa, OK; also seven grandchildren. Services will be conducted Sat. at 1 p.m. in the Formet-Clevenger Gordon Funeral Home with Rev. Gary A. Smith officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Friday 6-8 p.m. Masonic Services will be held at 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Panke's memory may be made to the Northern Ohio Chapter of Leukemia Lymphoma Society, 20525 Center Ridge Rd., Suite 630, Cleveland, OH 44116.

Harold Leroy Parker
Harold Leroy Parker, age 81 of Canton, OH passed away Tuesday afternoon in Aultman Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Coshocton County, OH on November 1, 1919 he was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Corp of Engineers. He was a retired employee of Georgia Pacific Corp. where he retired from in 1984. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Carolyn Parker and a sister, Arlene Rodek. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Parker of the home to whom he had been married for 58 years on July 17, 2001; two sons, John Timothy Parker of North Little Rock, AZ, and Thomas Parker of Alliance, OH; three daughters, Miriam Foran of Cleveland, TN, Mary Jane Peffer and Deborah Parker both of Canton; one brother, Harry Parker of Berea, OH; there are 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Newcomer and Rev. Del Connor officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Calling hours at the funeral home on Thursday evening (TONIGHT) 7-9 p.m. and one hour before the services on Friday from 12-1p.m.

Helen L. Malone
Helen L. Malone, age 80, of Canton, OH, passed away Tuesday evening, Aug. 14, 2001 in Canton Regency Health Care following an extended illness. Born in Canton, OH, May 12, 1921 to her parents the late Frank and Mary S. Criqui. Mrs. Malone was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Canton. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Eugene Criqui; her husband of 52 years, Robert F. Malone, Sept. 4, 1999. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Mary Malone of Cincinnati, OH; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and James Miller of Louisville, OH; two sisters, Rita Camp of Canton, Kate Maher of Youngstown, OH; six grandchildren, Andrea, Aaron and Adrianne Malone, all of Cincinnati, OH, Kelly, Christopher, and Kraig Miller, all of Louisville. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Michael's Catholic Church with Fr. Bradford Helman as celebrant. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours Friday 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to St. Michael's Catholic Church.

Junior C. Bair
Junior C. Yogi Bair, age 85, of Waynesburg, OH, died Tuesday evening in his residence after a sudden illness. Born in Plain Township, OH, Mr. Bair was a carpenter and cabinet maker. Preceded in death by his parents, William and Berdella Mae (Lehr) Bair and a sister, Miriam Boli. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Barbara) Eberhart of Loma Linda, CA; three sons, Kim (Marilyn) Riley of Hayden Lake, ID, William Bim (Sherry) Bair of Waynesburg, and Jonathan D. Bair of Canton; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Ruby Bair of Plain Township; ex-wife and friend, Mildred Bair of Waynesburg; ex-daughter-in-law, Justine Ann Bair of North Canton. Funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Spiker-Foster-SHRIVER Funeral Home, 4817 Cleveland Ave. NW, with Pastor Robert Lair officiating. Interment will be in St. Jacob's Cemetery. Friends may call Friday 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jacob's Community Church, 8169 Kent Ave. NE, Canton, OH 44721.

Kent William Garber
Kent William Garber, age 74, died Monday, August 13, 2001 at Mercy Medical Center of Canton after complications of a severe stroke he suffered on July 19th, of this year. A life-time resident of Bolivar, he had retired to Dover, OH in 1994. He was born January 15, 1927, in Canton, OH, the son and only child of the late Ross Myers and Helen Magdalene Garber. A 1944 graduate of Bolivar High School. Kent first worked for the Garber Lumber and Construction Company in Strasburg, OH., When war interrupted life around the world, Kent served his country in the Merchant Marines. After the war, he married Deloref Marie Dee (Setterlin) Garber on September 5, 1948 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bolivar. They took over the Garber Family Farm, Edgewood Place, which they operated most of their lives. In addition to farming, Kent worked as a county meat and sanitation inspector and as an employee of Delocon Wholesale of Bolivar and of Lawrence Township. His life time passions were farming, cars, and a love of Woodworking. Many new people treasure the furniture he restored and that he made himself, often from unique designs of his own creation. An avid bowler earlier in life. He joined the Canton Shuffleboard Club several years ago after developing an interest in the sport over many winters spent in Florida. He is survived by his wife, Deloref Dee of Dover; and a daughter and son-in-law, Beckie and Martin Garber-Conrad of Alberta, Canada. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 377, Bolivar, OH 44612 in memory of Kent Garber. Because St. Paul's Lutheran Church sanctuary is currently being renovated, the funeral services will be held at The Church of The Holy Trinity, 1835 Dover-Zoar Rd., N.E., Zoar, OH. Calling hours are Thursday (today) 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Lebold Funeral Home, Bolivar, OH, and Friday 10-11 a.m. at the church where the services will be at 11 a.m. Rev. Lola H. (Kinney) Cogan. Services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in the Formet-Clevenger Gordon Funeral Home. Friends may call Thursday (tonight) 7-9 p.m. and Friday 10-11 a.m.

Louis Dale Black
Louis Dale Black, age 69, of East Canton, died late Tuesday evening in Aultman Hospital following an extended illness. Born July 7, 1932 in Independence, PA. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict, was a retired truck driver, a member of Canton Eagles #2370 and the American Legion. Preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Diana of the home with whom he celebrated 17 years of marriage on Aug. 3, 2001; two sisters and brother-in-law, Blanche Courtney and Norma and Raymond Woolfenden all of Canton; four children, William Black of Canton, Debra Byrd of Massillon, Charles Black of Massillon and David Black of Canton; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 8 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Rev. David Cobb officiating. Calling hours in the funeral home two hours prior to services from 6-8 p.m. on Friday.

Michael N. Selinsky
Michael N. Selinsky. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Hartville Mennonite Church, 1470 Smith-Kramer St., NE with Rev. Todd Hamilton officiating. According to Mike's wishes a private interment will take place for the family. Friends will be received following the service in church on Friday.

Nancy L. Jacobs
Nancy L. (Holderbaum) Jacobs. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with minister, lance Lindenberger officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Calling hours at the funeral home one hour before services on Friday from 10-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to help defray the cost of funeral expenses.

Paul J. Arbogast, Sr.
Paul John Arbogast, Sr., age 87, of Canton, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday morning, Aug. 15, 2001 in the emergency room of Aultman Hospital. Born in Salem, OH on Dec. 28, 1913 to his parents, the late John and Sophia Arbogast, he lived most of his life in the Canon area. He was a retired employee of Hercules Engines, retiring in 1970 after 40 years of service. Mr. Arbogast was a member of Perry Christian Church, Sachenheim Club, United Auto Workers and was a member of the National Guard. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother; four sisters; infant daughter, Donna Marie. Survivors include his wife, Mary Arbogast of the home to whom he was married 66 years; twin sons and daughter-in-law, John Paul Arbogast of Canton, Paul John Arbogast, Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth Arbogast of Canton; two daughters and son-in-law, Diane and George Bowling of Magnolia, Carol Arbogast of Canton; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also surviving. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. in Perry Christian Church, 139 Perry Dr. NW, Canton with Rev. Craig Ott officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours at the church one hour prior to the services on Saturday at 12 Noon - 1 p.m. The Reed Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
