Catherine Lickwar Reed
Catherine Lickwar Reed, 85, died Thursday, September 12, 2002. Mrs. Reed was born in Cambridge, Ohio and moved from Miami to The Villages in 1995. She was owner of Louisville Beverage and Wine Shoppe in Louisville, Ohio. Survivors include two nieces, seven nephews and two grandchildren. Memorial Services were held Saturday, September 14, 2002 in Lady Lake, Florida. Inurnment and Graveside Servcies will be held Tuesday, October 22, 2002, 10:30 a.m. at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge, Ohio. Officiating will be Fathers Vasily and Joseph Lickwar, Mrs. Reed's nephews. Arrangements are being handled by Mrs. Reed's niece, Donna Richardson, of Lady Lake, Florida.

Earl M. Thacker
Earl M. Thacker, age 84, of Canton, OH, passed away Wednesday evening in the Hanover House following a brief illness. Born in Massillon, OH on March 16, 1918, he was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. He was a retired employee of the ford Motor Co., retiring in 1973 after 30 years of service. Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Cora Hess; stepson, Howard Jamison; stepdaughter, Carol Tiederman; his wife, Myrtle (Jamison) Thacker, in 1985. Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Rita Jamison of Canton; a brother, Thomas Lee of Arizona; four step grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; three step great-great-grandchildren; two special friends, Lillian Stremo and Margaret Gouge. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Reed Funeral Home with Rev. Raymond Tucker officiating. There will be calling hours at the funeral home one hour before the services on Saturday 10-11 a.m. A private burial will be held Monday morning in Sunset Hills Burial Park.

Earl Milton Dinger
Earl M. Dinger, age 91, of Kensington Rd., Augusta, died Wednesday, October 9, 2002, at Alliance Community Hospital following a short illness. He was born May 21, 1911, in Scroggsfield, to Milt and Ida (Howlett) Dinger. He was retired from New York and Penn Central Railroad as a laborer and foreman. He was an honorary lifetime member of the Minerva Sportsman Club and a charter member of the Augusta Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lucy (Fisher) Dinger; four daughters, Jean Schinder of Massillon, Linda Amelung of Minerva, Sandra and husband Bill Flanigan of Minerva, Stephanie Dinger and Tom Rhodes of Augusta; three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Dick and Ellen Dinger of Augusta, Ronald Ron and Sheila Dinger of Augusta, Dennis and Connie Dinger of Minerva; a brother, Harry Dinger of Augusta; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by four sisters and a brother. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with burial in the Augusta Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday from 7-9 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Augusta Volunteer Fire Department.

Hannah Hutchinson
Hannah Owen Hutchinson, age 84, passed away Wednesday in Massillon Community Hospital Emergency Room following a brief illness. She was from Orchard Island, Russells Point, OH. Survived by her son, Rev. Kenneth E. Hutchinson, Jr. and wife, Rev. Sandra Hutchinson of Canal Fulton, OH with whom she lived.. Funeral services will be Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, at 11 a.m. in the Indian Lake Community Church at Russells Point, OH. Calling hours Sunday 2-4 p.m. In the Van Horn Funeral Home, Lakeview, OH. Cremation will take place following the services. Lebold Funeral Home, Bolivar, in charge of arrangements.

Howard W. Baldock
Howard W. Baldock, 92, formerly of Stamford, CT., and Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, FL., died at 10:25 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2002, at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton, where he was a resident. Born September 12, 1910, in Canton, Ohio, to Milton and Emma Leed Baldock. He married Mary Jamison on December 25, 1935, in Canton, Ohio. She died July 4, 2000 in Peoria. Surviving are two daughters, Judy (and Richard) Higbee of Dunlap, and Mary Lynn (and Bruce) Slinkard of Scott City, MO; one son, David (and Anja) Baldock of St. Louis; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren . He received his master's degree from the University of Michigan. He was director of medical relations for E.R. Squibb Sons in New York City, retiring in 1975. He also was the chairman of the board for the American Osteopathic Foundation in Chicago, retiring in 1980. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Federated Church in Peoria, where visitation will be 30 minutes before. Dr. Robert Gillogly will officiate. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the American Osteopathic Foundation, 142 E. Ontario St., Chicago, IL 60611.

Ilene M. Palm
Ilene M. Palm, age 77, a resident of Altercare of Louisville, passed away Thursday, Oct. 10. 2002. Born in Canton, she was a member of Maplebrook Church of God. She was a great mother to all her family. Preceded in death by her stepfather and mother, Ben and Pearl Harrison; son, Ray Palm; sister, Irene Harrison. She is survived by her husband, Richard, to whom she was married 53 years; four sons, Mark of Malvern, Richard L. of Georgia, Michael and Frank, both of Florida; four daughters, Gaye Braham of East Canton, Linda Wiles of Canton, Lou Dawn Pemberton of Canton, Toni Crow of Florida; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 12 Noon in the Earl B. Jack Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Tyre officiating. Burial in Warstler Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to services.

Ina May Nimon
Ina May Nimon, age 70, of Alliance, passed away Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002 in Aultman Hospital following an extended illness. She was born March 5, 1932 in Cleveland to the late George and Minerva (Ware) Metz. Ina is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Ernie and Wilma Metz; two sisters and brother-in-law, Margaret and Dick Salzer and Georgia Frick; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Adrian P. Nimon, in 1992; brother, Jim Metz. A memorial service for Ina will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home in Louisville with Rev. Fr. William Kraynak officiating. Arrangements by the Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home.

John C. Bell
John C. Bell, age 90, of Canton, passed away early Thursday morning, October 10, 2002, in The Pines, following an extended illness. He was a self employed tile and Formica setter. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church; and the Bricklayers and Craftsmans Union. He is preceded in death by his wife, Catherine, on November 4, 1994; and a son, John Bell Jr., June 28, 1947. He is survived by daughters, Mary Catherine and Carl Zerbe of North Canton, Judith Essik of Canton, Betty Jane and Frank Snyder of Wooster, Jeanne and George Craft of Canton and Caroline and her husband, Marvin of Warren; sons, Robert and Polly Bell of Canton, Joseph and Tish Bell of North Canton, Charles and Barbara Bell of Massillon; 21 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church with Msgr. Frank A. Carfagna as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday evening 7-9 p.m. in the Don Williams Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.

John I. Bailey
John I. Bailey. Services will be conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Church of The Master. Friends may call Friday (tonight) 6-8 p.m. at the Formet-Clevenger Gordon Funeral Home and Saturday 9-10 a.m. at the church.

Kathleen M. Arnold
Kathleen M. Arnold (Richards), age 79, of Louisville, passed away Thursday morning, October 10, 2002 in Aultman Hospital from pneumonia. She lived in this area all her life retiring from the Hoover Company. She was also a teacher at Raedel Business College for many years. Kathleen will be remembered for her love of flowers and her passion for quilting. She was a member of Louisville Christian Church and enjoyed quilting with her friends at Martin Luther Lutheran Church. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Denny Richards of Paris, OH; son David Arnold of Lake Mohawk, Malvern, granddaughter Amanda Little of Louisville; great grandchildren, Jacob and Miranda; brother, Robert Richards of Canton. Preceded in death by her husband, Darrell in 1957; daughter-in-law, Linda Arnold in 1999; sister, Delores and her parents, John Logan and Florence (Borne) Richards. Funeral services will be Saturday 11:00 a.m. at the Arnold Funeral Home in Canton with Rev. Rick Brown officiating. Interment will be in West Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service (10:00 - 11:00). Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Larry E. Devereaux
Larry E. Devereaux, age 66, of Canton died Wednesday in Mercy Medical Center. Born in Canton, he had lived the greater portion of his life here. He was a retired truck driver for Yellow Freight, and was a U.S. Army Veteran. Survived by five daughters, Janine Devereaux of Canton, Christina Pope of Indianapolis, IN, Misty Ebert of Cape Girardeau, MO, Tiana Hadad of Louisville, and Leann Devereaux of Massillon; a son, Mark Devereaux of Louisville; his mother, Mary Kelly of Canton, and five grandchildren, Graveside services will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens with Dr. John Mann officiating. There will be no calling hours. The Lamiell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Marilyn J. Miller
Marilyn J. Miller. Graveside services will be conducted Friday (today) at 12:30 p.m. in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours in the Reed Funeral Home Friday 10-12 Noon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the National Kidney Foundation.

Mildred Louise Sills
Mildred Louise Sills. Services will be held at 12 p.m. Friday (today) in the Karlo Sons Funeral Home with Pastor David Cobb officiating. Interment in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1815 W. Market Street, Suite 108, Akron, OH 44313.

Nancy Kendro
Nancy Kendro, age 63, of Tucson, Arizona passed away October 9. She was born April 1, 1939, in New York City. She leaves her husband of 38 years, Robert. Loving mother to Lisa Watson and Stephen, (Joanna) both of Tucson. Nancy has four beloved grandchildren, Sarah Watson, Bobby (who has Williams Syndrome), Caitlyn and one-month old Maxwell Kendro. She is also survived by her mother and sister, Alma and Susan Holeski of Sparks and Reno, Nevada. Nancy courageously battled lung cancer for nearly four years. She had been an RN at the VA Hospital in Tucson. All who knew her or came in contact with her were drawn to her warmth and friendliness. She was well known to befriend and comfort others afflicted with cancer. Her family was her greatest joy and she was so proud of all of them. She will be sorely missed. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 13, 2002 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., at Bring's Broadway Chapel, 6910 E. Broadway. Mass will be offered Monday, October 14 at 8:30 a.m. at St. Pius X. Church, 1800 N. Camino Pio Decimo, with burial at TMP East Lawn. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice or to Nancy's favorite, Williams Syndrome Association, 1316 N. Campbell, Suite 16, Royal Oak, Michigan 48067.

Primitiva Isla
Primitiva Nativa Isla Friends may call on Friday from 6-9 p.m. in the ROSSI FUNERAL HOME. A Mass Christian Burial will be sung on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the St. Benedict Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Thomas Crum as celebrant. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Isla's name can be made to, Alliance Visiting Nurse Assn. and Hospice-Home Care Dept. of Alliance Community Hospital 885 South Sawburg Rd., Suite 106, Alliance, OH 44601.

Ralph M. Smith. Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on S. Cleveland Ave. with Dr. Richard Ferrell officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Friday 6-8 p.m. or one half hour before services on Saturday (9:30-10 a.m.). In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Canton Township Volunteer Fire Department, Station #3.

Wilma Webb
Wilma Corinne Webb, age 76, of Massillon, OH, passed away Sunday Oct. 6, 2002. Retired from Simmons Mattress Company of Columbus, OH, she was a member of the Elvis Teddy Bear Club for many years. She is survived by her five loving children, Johnnie, Bonnie, Connie, Ronnie and Donnie Webb; sisters, Ms. JoAnn Melody and Mrs. Donna J. Smith; brother, Earl Boden; 14 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, George R. Webb; mother, Helen Boden and father, Amos Boden; brother, Paul Boden. Services will be Sunday Oct. 13, 2002 at 5 p.m. in the Schneeberger Funeral Home with Philip R. Raynes, pastor of Otterbein United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be Monday at 12 p.m. in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Kingston, OH. Friends will be received following the service and one hour prior to the service. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society- Making Strides, 925 S. Main St., N. Canton, OH 44720.

Bob Bates
Bob Bates, 68, of Green went to join his loving wife Pat on October 8, 2002. Bob was born in Akron, Ohio on March 23, 1934 having been a life resident of Green. He was formerly employed by General Tire and Akron Floors and currently at Canton Floors. He was a member of the Green Youth Hall of Fame and the Green High School Football Chain Gang. He was commissioner and director of the Green Youth Football Program for many years. He was blessed to have played a part in the development of the Green Youth Football Complex. Preceded in death by his wife, he is survived by his children; sons, Bob V. (Myra) of Green and Bill (Kathy) of Springfield Twp.; daughters, Kathie Ann (Ken) Halter and Cynthia Joanne (Ted) Kolp all of Louisville; brother, Herb White and Karen of Green; Uncle John (Ann) Grace of Akron; Aunt Olive Isenberg of Altoona, PA and nineteen beloved grandchildren. Calling hours will be Sat. from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at the Schermesser Funeral Home, City of Green Chapel, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd., (Route 619). Private family service. Inurnment East Liberty Cemetery. Joseph L. Hafer
Joseph L. Hafer, age 74, a Bolivar resident for the past 43 years, died Thursday, October 10, 2002, in Massillon Community Hospital following a
brief illness. Born June 11, 1928, in Mannington, W.VA. His parents were the late James P. and Agnes B. (Gaughan) Hafer. A graduate from Mannington High School, Mannington, W.VA., he had a B.S. Degree from Fairmont State College, Fairmont, W.VA., Master's Degree from West Virginia University, Morgantown, W.VA., and had attended the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia. He was an Assistant Principal for six years at Culpeper, Virginia. Principal at Canton South High School, Canton, Ohio for five years; taught night classes at Kent State University in downtown Canton, Ohio; Dean of Instruction at The Canton area Technical School in Canton, Ohio, now the Stark State College of Technology. He retired in 1990 as Assistant President of the college. He was a member of the Church of The Holy Trinity, Zoar, Ohio, where he was past Council President of the church, Eucharistic Minister and Lector, served on the Stewardship Committee and the Bishop's Annual Appeal. He was the Recipient of the Diocesan Service Award; member of the Bolivar Lions Club and was past president and was in charge of the Bloodmobile drive for several years. He was a former Bolivar Village Council Member for eight years and was Past-President of Council, Mannington Elk's, Mannington, W.VA., and the Tuscarawas County Historical Society. He served on the Tusky Valley High School Steering Committed for Long Range Planning. Survivors include his wife, Flora Rose (Lash) Hafer, who he married on June 18, 1960; sons, James L. and wife, Toni Hafer of Bolivar, OH., Joseph P. and wife, Vicki Hafer of Bolivar, OH; grandchildren, Adam, Jamianne, Ashley and Nicholas Hafer of Bolivar, OH; two nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James and John. Funeral services will be Monday, October 14, 2002, at 11 a.m. in Church of The Holy Trinity, Zoar, Ohio. Calling hours Sunday, October 13, 2002, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Lebold Funeral Home, Bolivar, OH. Fr. Mike Nimocks officiating. A Christian Wake Service will be held Sunday at 8:30 p.m.
Burial in Ft. Laurens Cemetery, Bolivar, OH. Donations may be made to Church of The Holy Trinity Building Fund, 141 Water Street SW, Bolivar, OH 44612.

Jocelyn M. Barrino

Jocelyn M. Barrino, was born July 15, 1911 in Wingate, NC. She went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 9, 2002, following an extended illness. Preceded in death by her parents, Bonk and Bertha Maske, husband, Nelson Barrino Sr. Jocelyn was a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and was on the Usher Board. Jocelyn leaves to cherish her precious memories, three daughters, Mary L. (Charles Ledbetter) Kelly, Billie Arnold, Gloria J. Jones, all of Canton; three sons, Lemuel Barrino, James (Gloria) Barrino, Nelson Barrino Jr., all of Canton; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; special niece, Caretha Williams of Reston, VA, and a host of many relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2002 at Macedonia Baptist Church, 220 Maple St., Waynesburg, OH 44688, Rev. James McWain, officiating. Interment in Sandy Valley Cemetery. Calling hours will be 12:00 Noon - 1:00 p.m. at the church. Arrangements by Brogdon Son Funeral Home.

Jimmy Bowers
Jimmy Bowers, age 39, passed away suddenly on Monday, October 7, 2002. He was a lifetime resident of Canton, OH. He leaves to mourn his passing his two daughters, Danielle Bowers and Mikendra Lightner; his mother, Geneva Bowers; two sisters, Augusta Wallace and Lavetta Moore all of Canton; three brothers, Andrew Bowers of Columbis, OH., Robert (Linda) Bowers of Canton, and Frederick (Denise) Bowers of Stone Mountain, GA; one grandson, a special uncle, Jasper Mitchell of Canton; and host of other relatives and friends. Calling hours will be 11 a.m. - 12Noon Friday, October 11, 2002 with funeral services immediately following at 12 Noon at Freedom Baptist Church, 313 Elgin Ave, NW., Canton. Rev. F.L. Poore officiating. The internment will be private.

Bennie Mae Graham (Lee). Funeral services will be held Today at 12 Noon at St. Mark's Baptist Church where Wilbur Allen, III will be officiating and Elder Wilbur Allen, Jr. will be eulogizing. Interment at Forest Hill Cemetery.
