Andrew Iwanusa
Andrew Iwanusa, 82, of North Port, FL., (Harbor Isles) died on Thursday, August 29, 2002 at his residence. Mr. Iwanusa was born December 9, 1919 in Scranton, PA. He moved to North Point in 1982 from Massillon, OH. He worked for the Ford Motor Company in Canton, OH., for 33 1/2 years. Mr. Iwanusa was a member of San Pedro Catholic Church; Knights of Columbus, Council #7997. Mr. Iwanusa was an Army Veteran serving during WWII. His wife, Marion; and his brother, William Iwanusa preceded Mr. Iwanusa in death. He is survived by a son, Kenneth Iwanusa and his wife, Adele of Cincinnati, OH; a daughter, Andrea DePasquale and her husband, Frank of Uniontown, OH; his twin brother, Nicholas Iwanusa of Canton, OH; a foster brother, Mike Tyrwaski of Moosic, PA; two foster sisters, Helen LaSavage and Mary Cybroski both of Moosic, PA; five grandchildren, Lori Iwanusa Cover, Kelly Iwanusa Farkas, Daniel DePasquale, Derek DePasquale, and Kevin Iwanusa; three great grandchildren, Paris Cover, Nicholas Cover, and Annie Farkas. Visitation will be held on Tuesday September 3, 2002 at 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Farley Funeral Home in North Port Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday September 3, 2002 at 12 Noon at San Pedro Catholic Church. Memorial Donations may be made to San Pedro Catholic Church Building Fund, 14380 Tamiami Trail, North Port, FL. 34287. Farley Funeral Home Crematory, North Port Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

C. Richard Looman. Funeral service will be on Tuesday 1:30 p.m. in the Spiker-Foster-SHRIVER Funeral Home, 710 Tuscarawas St. W with Rev. Kevin E. Slyh officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday 4-6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 4110 38th St NW, Canton, OH 44718.

Elmer R. Kanary
Elmer R. Kanary, age 78, of Massillon, and formerly of Lorain County died Saturday August 24, 2002 at his residence following a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease. Mr. Kanary was born May 26, 1924 in Duquesne, PA., and had been a resident of Massillon since 1964. A 1942 graduate of Lorain High School, he lived in Lorain and Amherst prior to moving to Stark County. He was a WWII Marine Corps veteran where he served as a Staff Sergeant attached to an aviation supply unit in the Pacific Theater; he was the recipient of two Bronz Stars. Shortly after his discharge from the military, Mr. Kanary joined the Ohio Edison Company (now known as First Energy) and where he fulfilled assignments in both Elyria (Lake Avenue Service Building) and Massillon. He retired as a system dispatcher from the company's Wadsworth office in 1987 following more than forty years of service with the company. He was a former member of Amherst Foursquare Gospel Church. Regarded as a talented and gifted handyman, he had diverse interests ranging from philosophy and religion, to the study of astronomy. He was also a lover of animals. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Pauline (nee Schuster); a son, Dale Kanary of Doylestown; daughters, Barbara Houser of DeSoto, TX., and Deborah Goss of Kensington, NH; four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Stephen Kanary in 1959; his mother, (Nee Skinta) Kanary in 1990; and a brothers, Frank in 1997 and Stephen who died at age of two. Funeral services were held Tuesday August 27th in Ridge Hill Memorial Park - Amherst Township with Rev. John Herman of the County Chapel in Doylestown, OH., officiating. The family suggests memorials in history to the Country Chapel, 14390 Hametown Road, Doylestown, OH 44230. G. Pierce Daiger
Dr. G. Pierce Daiger, of Sarasota, FL, died on August 23, 2002, after a brief illness. Dr. Daiger was born in 1909 in Baltimore, MD, and attended the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and Johns Hopkins University. He received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from Johns Hopkins in 1932. Following graduation he moved to Canton, OH, and took a position in engineering at the Hoover Company in North Canton. He lived in Canton and, later, Sarasota until his death. Dr. Daiger worked for the Hoover Company until he retired in 1972, serving in several positions including Chief Engineer in the Acoustic Laboratory, Vice President of Engineering and Patents, and Vice President of Hoover Worldwide. He helped establish engineering and production facilities in Latin American and Europe, contributing to the growth of industry in Europe after World War II. He held numerous patents in the areas of electrical and mechanical engineering, with particular emphasis on product safety. Following retirement he moved to Sarasota but maintained his interests in engineering and science. Dr. Daiger married Betty Pfouts, of Canton, in 1937 and they remained together until her death in 1987. They traveled widely and she accompanied him on many of his business trips. Later, in 1991, he married Doris Warner and they lived together in Sarasota until his death. They were active in several Sarasota Clubs including Bird Key Yacht Club, Sara Bay Country Club and the Meadows Country Club. Dr. Daiger is survived by his wife, Doris; by his children, Julie Daiger Ritz, Pittsburgh, PA, and Dr. Stephen Pierce Daiger, Houston, TX, and by Doris' children, Sharon Warner Rossi, Doylestown, PA, Barbara Warner Luskey, Glen Arm, Maryland, and Kurt Warner, Sparta, NJ. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and two great-granchildren. He was a of man many professional accomplishments; who deeply loved two wonderful women and their children and grandchildren, and approached all of life with a sense of honor and good humor. He will be deeply missed by his friends and colleagues, and by all who loved him. We will always cherish his memory. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Canton, OH. Memorial donations may be made to the Florida Lions Eye Bank, Inc., 900 N.W. 17th St., Miami, FL 33136.

Hurshel O. Smith
Hurshel O. Bud Smith, age 77, of North Canton died Thursday, August 29, 2002 in Altercare of canton. A life resident of the Canton area, Hurshel attended McKinley High School and was retired from Goodyear Aerospace as a Maintenance Supervisor, member of Wm McKinley Lodge #431 F AM, Canton Elk's Lodge #68, Canton Moose Lodge #233 and Army veteran of WWII. Hurshel was preceded in death by his wife Shirley June Smith in 1998. His sister Elizabeth Betty Miller is also deceased. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Hurshel D. (Toni Ann) Smith of Magnolia, OH., and Danny L. (Donna) Smith of Canton, OH; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren; two sisters, Thelma Martin of canton and Shirley Starks of Alliance, OH. Funeral service will be Wednesday 10 a.m. in Spiker-Foster-SHRIVER Funeral Home, 4817 Cleveland Ave NW, with Rev. Brett Coney officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Robert K. Hager
Robert K. Hager, age 82, passed away suddenly, Thursday, August 29, 2002 in Santa Rosa, CA. He was a native of Canton, OH. A member of Lafayette Lodge #126 F AM and a veteran of WWII. He was the beloved husband of the late Leonie Hager. Adored father of Paul Hager and his wife, Jan of Cotati, CA. Loving grandfather of Allison Hager and Matt Hager both of Cotati, CA. Beloved brother of Viola Whitner, Louise Habrun, Betty Jacoby, Helen Becker, Bonnie Bennett and Lillian Steele. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside Service is Thursday September 5, 2002 at 12:30 p.m. at Santa Rosa Memorial Park. in Santa Rosa, CA. Visitation will be Wednesday September 4, 2002 from 5-8 p.m. at the PARENT -SORENSEN MORTUARY CREMATORY, Petaluma, CA. (No White flowers please.)

Wesley C. Meinerding. Funeral service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Martin Luther Lutheran Church with Pastor Larry J. Houff officiating. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Monday 6-8 p.m. in the Spiker-Foster-SHRIVER Funeral Home, 4817 Cleveland Ave. NW, and one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Martin Luther Lutheran Church, 701 Walnut Ave. NE, Canton, OH 44702.

Russel R. Elsass
Russel Richard Elsass passed away August 30, 2002 following an extended illness. He was born in the home of his parents, the late John and Florence Elsass of Waynesburg Ohio. Russ was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a loyal fan of the Mt. Union Purple Raiders. He attended Capital University and served in the US Army from 1941-1945. He was in business with brothers, Robert and Paul. Formerly known as Elsass Brothers it later became Elsass Ben Franklin. Russ retired from American Steel Foundries where he had worked as paymaster for 9 years. He was not only a member of the Mended Hearts Club of which he served as president but was a member of the Stark Co. American Heart Association Board. He was a member of the YMCA Runners Club, he served as a loyal volunteer at Mercy Medical Center for 17 years accumulating 16,000 hours. He was preceded in death by; his wife Anne, daughter Kristen, a sister Evelyn and brothers Ed, George, Frank and twin brother Robert. He is survived by his daughter Catherine along with grandchildren, Kelly Gibbons and husband Kevin, Jonathan Dillon, Allison and Tim Smail; great grandchild Cole Matthew Gibbons. Russ is also survived by; brother Paul and his wife Dorothy Elsass of Sebring, sister-in-law Helen Elsass of Texas, and many nieces and nephews. He was previously a member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in Alliance where he served as treasurer on the church council for 20 years. Most recently he attended and was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church in Canton. There will be no calling hours; a special memorial service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002 at 4pm at Christ Presbyterian Church. Burial will take place Wednesday at 10:00am at Fairmount Memorial Park in Alliance. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Russ's name be made to Christ Presbyterian Church Music Fund, 530 West Tusc. Canton, OH 44708. Arrangements are by Walton-Schrader Funeral Home 1131 West State St. Alliance, OH 44601.

Kathleen A. Goslin
Kathleen A. Goslin, age 84, of Canton, OH., passed away Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, at Mercy Medical Center following an extended illness. Born in Dunbar, PA., on June 18, 1918 to her parents, the late William and Anna Bell, she was retired from the W.T. Grant Co. where she has worked as a sales clerk for 25 years. She had been a member of the Rose Societies of Stark County and Uniontown, PA. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert R. Goslin Sr; and two brothers, Francis and William Bell. She is survived by three daughters, Lois Buck of Canton, Rosemary Senter of North Canton and Bernadette Klein of Canton; and her son, Albert R. Goslin Jr. (Judy) of Canton. Thee are seven grandchildren, Denise, Paula, Cathleen, Paul, Joann, Bryan and Kaitlyn; nine great grandchildren, Justin, Nicole, Ashley, Christa, Kayle, Brighton, Zachary, Madison, and Storm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church by Father Thomas Dyer on Tuesday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be at Reed Funeral Home on Monday from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to NEO Chapter Arthritis Foundation, Chagrin Plaza East, Suite 210, 23811 Chagrin Blvd., Cleveland, OH. 44122.

Richard McIntyre. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Deliverance Christian Church, 2130 31st St. NW, Canton, Eulogy by Rev. Walter S. Moss, and Pastor Warren P. Chavers officiating. Calling hours will be Monday, September 2nd, 2002 from 6-8 p.m. at the Church and also, one hour before services on Tuesday. Interment at Forest Hill Cemetery. Arrangements caringly handled by Jones Funeral Service.
