Angelo M. Scozzarella
Angelo M. Scazzarella, age 86, formerly of Canton, passed away Monday morning in Parma, OH at the Parma Care Nursing Home after a brief illness. He was a life resident of Canton. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He was retired from Canton City Water Department and also Truson Steel Branch of L.T.V. He was a member of Moose Lodge #233 for 31 years, Eagle Lodge #141 for 60 years. He attended McKinley High School, was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army Air Force where he attended N E O S Officers School, as a Quartermaster Service Group on the Island of Iwo Jima. He also was an avid bowler. His parents were the late, Joseph and Cona (Loggio) Scozzarella. Preceded in death by his wife, Mary; two brothers, John and Sam Scozzarella; one sister, Mary Plumpton. He is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Angelo M. and Valerie (Perez) Scozzarella of Lakewood, OH, Robert and Laura Scozzarella of Arthur, IL; four grandchildren, Joe, Nicole, Alicia and Angela Scozzarella; three brothers, Orlando Scozzarella of Texas, Ernie Scozzarella of North Canton and Coni Scozzarella of Cleveland; three sisters, Amelia Johns, Jean Scozzarella, and Josephine Gilbert all of Canton and also a number of nieces and nephews; Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10 a.m. in All Saints Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Thomas Bishop as Celebrant. Interment will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Calling hours will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Rossi Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1530 11th St SE, Canton, OH 44707. American Legion will hold a Military Graveside Service at the cemetery.

Charles Thompson
Charles E. Chuck Thompson, 87, of Valrico, FL, formerly of Canton and Harrison County, passed away Friday, June 7, 2002 in Florida. Former employee of PEPI, Inc. and Weber Dental Mfg. Co. Predeceased by wife of 43 years, Eleanor A. Falls Thompson. Survived by sons, Dick (Linda) of North Canton and Jack (Sandy) of Akron; daughter, Linda (Bob) Stultz of Galena; grandchildren; step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; step-great-great-grandchild; sister, Marie Miller of Valrico; sisters-in-law, Helen Thompson of North Canton and Fay Cunningham of Orlando, FL; brother-in-law, David (Kathleen) Falls of Scio, OH; several nieces and nephews; wife, Dorothy; stepson, Gary; stepdaughters, Patricia and Kristina. Also predeceased by parents, George Busby and Erma Cramblett Thompson; brother, Lawrence; and brothers-in-law, Francis Miller and Ray Cunningham. Memorial service 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2002, Church of the Lakes United Methodist, 5944 Fulton Dr. NW (at Brunnerdale), Canton. Family will be available one hour prior to the Memorial service. Private family burial. In lieu of flowers, contributions in our dad's name may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

Donald J. McGreal
Donald James McGreal, 62, died Saturday, June 29, 2002 at his residence in Hammond, LA., surrounded by his family. native of Canton, Donald graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1958. He worked at ABM Distributors previous to moving to Louisiana. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Marion Feathers McGreal of Hammond; one daughters, Adora Jean Butler of Mandevile; a son, and daughter-in-law, Paul Allen and Coleen McGreal of Hammond; his mother, Dorothy Nist McGreal of Canton; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Patricia and Thomas Butcher, Suzanne Antonosanti, Kathy and Michael McAbier all of Canton, and Cynthia and Ruben Plata of Houston; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Lawrence and Patricia McGreal, James and Pamela McGreal of canton; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. His father, Donald Paul McGreal preceded him in death. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church Canton, OH., on Friday July 112, 2002 at 10 a.m. with Father Edward Beneliet presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ochsner Clinic Foundation, Division of Philanthropy, 1514 Jefferson highway, New Orleans, LA 70121, to benefit cancer research.

Douglas F. Arnold
Douglas F. Arnold, age 59 of Canton, OH passed away Tuesday morning, July 9, 2002 in Mercy Medical Center following an extended illness. Born in Tecumseh, MI, December 1, 1942 to his parents the late, William W. and Irene Arnold, he lived most of his life in the Canton area and was formerly in the Fairmount Children's Home. Doug was a 1960 graduate of Lehman High School and was a self employed painter and a member of Painter's Local #603. Besides her parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty I. Brown and his brother, Robert W. Arnold. Survivors include his son, Doug M. Arnold of Canton, OH; his daughter, Terri Philips of Carrollton, OH; one brother, Lee W. Arnold of Massillon, OH; two sisters, Carolyn Alton of Kentucky and Sharon Silvestro of Columbus, OH; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Doug was very active in Alcoholics Anonymous and had many friends at he AA whom he loved dearly. Funeral services will be conducted Friday 1:00 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Bowling officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Thursday 7-9 p.m. and one our prior to services on Friday from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 p.m. Following the funeral services, his body will be cremated and the cremains will be buried in Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the funeral home for funeral expenses.

Ellen Fields
Ellen Victoria (Hunley) Fields, went home to be with the Lord July 5, 2002. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. Vickie Fields attended Timken Senior High School and received her certification as a home health aide. She was a devoted mother to her children as well as all of her nieces, nephews, close friends of the family and patients that she served. She dedicated her life to helping the sick and the elderly as a home health aide. Preceded in death by her mother, Mattie S. (Flemmings) Crawford; brothers, Calvin and Willie Hunley; and sister, Mary Motley; grandson, Ja-Son Pleasant. She leaves to cherish memories to husband, Frankie Fields of the home; daughter, Summer Hunley of Cincinnati, OH; son, Antwain Hunley of Canton; grandchildren, Kyla Hunley, Joseph, Jordan Pleasant and DaQwan Hardy, sisters, Mattie Hunley of Atlanta, Olympia Hunley of Akron; brothers, Levester Regans, Sr. of Birmingham, AL, Tommy Lee Hunley of Bakersfield, CA, Johnny Penn, Jr. of Florence, KY, and Harold Joseph Hunley, Sr. of Mansfield, OH; aunts, Naomi Bradford of Anniston, AL, Helen (Hunley) Marcaro of Canton; uncle, T.M. Flemmings of Anniston, AL. The Bradford of family of Canton, OH, and Anniston, AL, as well as the Hunley, Armstead, Jenkins, Hawkins, and Edwards families of Canton. Services celebrating the life of Mrs. Fields will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 1403 13th St. SE, where Pastor C.A. Richmond will be officiating and Pastor Lewis Jenkins will be eulogizing. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service. Internment at Forest Hill Cemetery. Harry J. Stitt Jr.
Harry J. Stitt Jr., 78, of Massillon, died Monday at Meadow Wind Health Care following a lengthy illness. He was born Nov. 15, 1923 in Pennsylvania and had lived most of his life in the Massillon area. He was a retired Quality Control Inspector with the Central States Can Co., was a graduate of Washington High School, member of St. John's UCC-Massillon, Massillon Moose #481, Eagles #190, Sons Daughters of Herman, and was a former President of Central States Can retirees. He was preceded in death by parents, Harry J. and Edith (Shepler) Stitt Sr; brother, Robert Stitt; and sisters, Gladys Gump and Dorothy Skolmutch. He is survived by sons, Dennis J. and Greg A Stitt both of Massillon; grandchildren, Daniel, Jeremy, Chad, and Melissa; nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be Friday 10:30 a.m. at Atkinson-Feucht-Shaidnagle Funeral Home, Massillon. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday with a Moose Service at 6 p.m. Burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Howard L. Seese
Howard L. Seese, age 88, of Hartville, went to be with the Lord July 8, 2002. The family will receive friends tonight 6-8 p.m. at Hecker Funeral Home in Uniontown. A Memorial service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Hartville United Church of Christ with Pastor Stu King officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Hartville United Church of Christ or a charity of your choice.

Jacqueline Jackie Bailey
Jacqueline Jackie Bailey, age 53 of East Sparta died unexpectedly early Tuesday morning. Born May 17, 1949 in Warren, OH to Alice and the late, Sidney Marlin. Jackie was employed by John Anderson's Flower Shop. Survivors include her husband, Charles Gene Bailey if the home with whom she would have celebrated 32 years of marriage on September 3, 2002 and two daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Tim Ward of Canton and Susan and Mike Barwick of East Sparta; there are two grandchildren, Lucas and Sidney; her mother, Alice Marlin of Levittsburg, OH; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Kim and Chuck Carone of Niles, OH, Carrie and Gene Roberts of Warren, OH and one brother and sister-in-law, Sidney and Lynn Marlin of Levittsburg, OH. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home. Calling hours in the funeral home Thursday 3-5 7-9p.m.

John P. Vender
John P. Vender, passed away July 6, 2002 in his home following a short illnes. A celebration of his life will be held in the Chapel at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens Friday evening, July 12, 2002 at 7 p.m.

Mary Ratcliff
Mary (Dolan Fry) Ratcliff, age 87, of Saginaw, MI, died Tuesday, July 9, 2002 in St. Mary's Medical Center. She was born Aug. 5, 1914 in West Liberty, OH, the daughter of the Louis and Lulu Dolan. Preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Ratcliff, in 1995. She and her husband owned and operated Service Aids (a private detective agency) for 35 years until their retirement in 1984, she also was employed by S.S. Kresge for 41 years. Mary was a member of Jefferson Avenue Methodist Church and was active in church functions. She was currently one of five Commissioners on the Saginaw Housing Commission. After her retirement, she also traveled for ten years as a Goodwill Ambassador for the Leader Dog School of Rochester. She was also a member of the Lady Lions and a lifetime member of Quota Club. Survived by daughter, Merilou Thomas of Las Vegas, NV; a son, James R. and Judith Fry of Shelby Township, MI; eight grandchildren, Frederick Thomas, William Thomas, Jr., Pamela Thomas, Louis Thomas, Susan Meyer, Linda Hales, Debra Crawford, James J. Fry; 15 great-grandchildren. Services Friday, July 12, 11 a.m. at McIntyre Funeral Chapel, 500 N. Michigan, Saginaw, MI with Rev. Robert Hastings officiating. Burial Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Calling hours Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Donations to Leader Dogs for the Blind.

Mildred I. Millie Paugh
Mildred I. Millie Paugh, age 85 of Canton, OH passed away suddenly Tuesday morning in the St. Luke Lutheran Home. Born in Irondale, OH on April 16, 1917 she had lived the greater portion of her life in the Canton area. She was a 1935 graduate of the former Canton Township High School and a retired employee of Sugardale Provision Co., retiring in 1973. She was a member of the Unity Church of Truth, Canton Chapter #190 Order of Eastern Star, Women of the Moose, and for many years had been an avid bowler in the Canton area bowling circles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley C. Paugh who passed away August 28, 1991. Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Bonnie and Harland Allison of North Canton; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Minister Tony Amerine officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Calling hours at the funeral home one hour before services on Thursday from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Eastern Star services will be held Thursday at 12:15 p.m.

Myron K. Bennard
Myron K. Bennard, age 64 of Massillon, passed away Monday at Massillon Community Hospital. He was born on November 9, 1937 in Massillon to the late Harry and Myrtle (Best) Bennard, Sr. He graduated from Washington High School with the Class of 1955. He had worked at Superior Meats and coached little league baseball and Jackson Midget Football. He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Angel and Jeff Mohr of Malvern, LuAnn and Bill Duff of Minerva; son, Brian Bennard of Massillon; sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn Strong of Perry, Janice and Joe Easter of California, Doris Alexander of Massillon; brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Edith Bennard of Massillon; six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Interment will follow in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m.

Nellene Tallman
Nellene Nell Tallman, age 85, died Monday in Aultman Hospital after an extended illness. She was a life resident of the Canton area and was a graduate of McKinley High School. Nell was a former real estate broker. She was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church, Little Flower Altar and Rosary Society, the Catholic Golden Agers, the AARP, and the McKinley High School Alumni Assoc. At Little Flower, she was active in the Bereavement Ministry, was in charge of the funeral luncheons, and had volunteered in the office and gift shop. She had been a former poll worker and a former volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Preceded in death by her husband, Raymond E. Tallman, who died in 1990. Survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David J. and Nancy G. Tallman of Canton; two grandsons and their wives, Shane and Tammy Tallman of Homeworth, OH and Shad and Chris Tallman of Canton; four great-grandchildren, Shana, Dakota, Jarod and Kyle Tallman. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in Little Flower Catholic Church with Fr. Kevin Fete as celebrant. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call Wednesday (tonight) 6-8 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home.

Linda S. Kasunick
Linda S. Kasunick, passed away Monday, July 8, 2002 at 2:45 p.m. following a courageous seven year battle with cancer. Linda, a retired nurse of 31 years at Aultman Hospital, had a heart of gold, and love and compassion for everyone she met. She was also loved and respected by everyone that knew her. Linda had a God-given talent that enabled her to cheer and brighten the lives of everyone, no matter how ill or down hearted they were. Linda, and fellow cancer survivor, Robin Nist, founded and lead the cancer support group Faces of Hope. All of her girls say she was a godsend in this position and a great source of inspiration and cheer during those down times related to their health problems. Her name Linda is derived from the Spanish root word Belinda which means Beautiful; and girls with her name have a quick temper, and a quick wit; a girl who has a lot of spunk; she is easy going and self-indulgent; her heart goes out to others; one who has her own uniqueness and character; her family calls her adventurous; an individual with an inquisitive mind; is good at conquering things. Oh, how she lived up to her name! Linda was a very active volunteer in fund raising endeavors by the American Cancer Society especially the annual Relay For Life effort held the past eight years at Glenoak Stadium. Linda's support group was the leading fund raiser the first six out of eight years, and Linda was the leading individual fund raiser all eight years. She also managed, and recruited volunteer businesses to provide all food, etc. for the Cancer Survivor dinner at all eight relays. Linda will be sadly missed by her husband, John W. Kasunick; daughter and son-in-law, Heather R. and Scott Rhoades of Canal Fulton; step-son and wife, Scott and Rozelin Kasunick of Viesbaden, Germany; and their daughters, Elyse and Christina; step-daughter, Stacie Kasunick of Gahana; step-daughter and husband, Heidi and Scott Garverie and their children, Cale and Sydney of Powell; step-son and wife, Chad and Joanna Kasunick of Orrville; sister, Terri and David Williams; and their daughers, Ashley and Chelsea; brother, Jeff Rohr; step-son and wife, Brendan Kasunick and Joanne Kasunick and their daughter, Anne Elizabeth of Hilliard. Linda will be greatly missed by family and friends. Mary Emma Gee
Mary Emma Gee, age 94, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 5, 2002 following an extended illness. She was born on Dec. 2, 1907 in Leake County, MS to the late Allen and Joanna Battle. She was a former resident of 2340 South Edsel St., Detroit, MI. Mary joined Zion Hill AME Church at an early age. She then joined Waterfall Baptist Church in 1952, where she was a church mother, on the Missionary Society and taught Sunday School. Mary's favorite hymn was In the Sweet, By and By. She was a ember of the Block Club. she was united in holy matrimony to Booker T. Gee in 1931. She babysat most of the children in her neighborhood. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Booker T. Gee; parents, Allen and Joanna Battle; five sisters and one brother. Mary leaves to cherish her precious memories, her loving and devoted daughters, Ruby D. Brogdon of canton, Rubena Gee of Detroit, MI; grandson, Wendell C. Brogdon of Canton; tow great-grandchildren, Danecia Brogdon of Youngstown, Cliffton Brogdon of Canton; one great-great-grandchild, Alexis Rae Brogdon of Youngstown; two brothers, Jim Dock battle of Mississippi, Arthur Battle of Memphis, TN; one sister-in-law, Marie Rogers of Mississippi; special niece, Annie Bonds of Milwaukee, WI; great nephew, Gregory Griffin of Ferndale, MI; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Services Friday July 12, at 11 a.m. in the Stinson Funeral Home, 1939 South Fort St., Detroit, MI, 48217, with Dr. Emanuel Cain officiating. Calling hours Friday 10-11 a.m. in the funeral home. Gerald R. Randle
Gerald R. (Bill) Randle, passed on to his heavenly home at Aultman Hospital Monday, July 8, 2002, after a six week illness; just two days after his 89th birthday. Bill was born to his parents, the late Harry and Nellie Randle on July 6, 1913 in Hendricks County, IN. He grew up in Kokomo, IN and was a graduate of Kokomo High School. He moved to Canton in 1934 and became a driver-salesman for the Sterling Bakery Co. After it closed he became a sales rep for Wynn Products in the Canton area. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Florence (Griffith) in 1996. They had been married 59 years. Also an infant son and daughter, sister, Irene Randle, sister and brother-in-law, James and Nada Treacle, brother-in-law, Bill Kemmerling and nephew, Dennis Treacle. Survived by one daughter, Beverly Spencer of Canton; five grandchildren, Shelia Spencer, Tara Nichols, Brian Hill, William Hill and Scott Randle; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Kemmerling; nephews, Gerald Treacle, Monte and David Kemmerling; and niece, Kay Fruchy. Bill was a charter member of Moreland Christian Church and had served as a boys class teacher, elder and faithful servant. He loved God's creations, nature, the soil and poetry. He enjoyed tomatoes in his yard each summer to supply the whole neighborhood. He enjoyed talking to his neighbors and friends and cared deeply for his fellow man. He provided for many people during his lifetime and is now in God's care with his loved ones. Calling hours at the Reed Funeral Home on Wednedsay (today) 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and funeral services will be then conducted Thursday at 10 a.m. by Rev. Gene Carter officiating. Burial will be in Bergholz Cemetery. The familiy wishes to thank the Aultman Hospital staff for their good care.
