Andrew R. Bryden
Andrew R. Bryden, age 82, of Massillon, OH, passed away Friday evening, February 15, 2002 in the Hanover House following an extended illness. Born in Paisley, Scotland, December 22, 1919, to his parents the late Thomas and Mary Bryden, he lived most of his life in the Canton area and was a retired employee of the Timken Co., retiring August 1981 after 41 years of service. He was inducted in the Greater Canton Amateur Sport Hall of Fame, was volunteer fireman for 15 years with the Perry Twp. Fire Department and a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army, Pacific Theater. During his career with the Army, he received the Purple Heart and the Silver Star. Besides his parents, he was preceded indeath by his son, Thomas Bryden in 1972 and his first wife, Sarah Bryden in 1974, his sister, Elizabeth McGeehon. Survivors include is wife, Pearl P. Bryden of the home to whom he was married 25 years; his daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Ron Dalpiaz of Dover, OH; his stepson and daughter-in-law, William and Linda Hasch of Bel Air, Maryland; his granddaughter, Emily Dalpiaz of Dover, OH; and two step grandchildren, Bruce Hasch of Orange, TX, Cindy Doran of Edgewood, MD. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday (TODAY) at 11 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home, 705 Raff Road S.W., Canton, with Rev. James Scott officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Bessie Croston Thrasher
Bessie Croston Thrasher, age 78 of Canton, OH, passed away Sunday afternoon, February 17, 2002 in Mercy Medical Center following an extended illness. Born in Moatsville, WV, December 30, 1923, she lived most of her life in the Canton area and was a former employee of the Ambassador Motel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Berkley; her son, Ronald Croston; mother, Mildred Reed; sister, Leona Williamson. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Darl and Susan Croston of the home; two sisters, Ella Brown and Rosalene Cosgrave both of Canton, OH; two brothers, Merrill Minnard of Kensington, OH, and Eugene Rhoden of Elkins, WV; three grandchildren; eight great grandchildren also surviving. Private funeral services will be conducted Wednesday 10 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with her brother, Rev. Eugene Rhoden officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.

Beverly J. Clark
Beverly J. Clark, of Manteno, IL. She was born and raised in the Canton, OH area. Survivors include her husband, William Clark, whom she married Sept. 2, 1960; son, Bill (Donna) Clark of Superior, CO; daughter, Sara Clark of Saginaw, MI; one grandchild. She was a past employee of Ohio Power Co. There will be no funeral or visitation. Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Manteno, IL, in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Lung Assoc.

Bok-Sum Ahn
Bok-Sum Ahn, age 84, of Canton, passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon at the home, following an extended illness. Born in South Korea on March 18, 1917. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Wan-Mo Ahn. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Joseph HiSuck and Sue Ahn of North Canton; four daughters, Heeyoung an Heesoon, born of Canton, Heesook and Heeok of South Korea; seven grandchildren; and one son-in-law, Ginna and Joseph Baik of Chicago, IL., Jennifer Ahn of Bethlehem, PA., Grace Ahn of San Diego, CA., Jerold
Ahn of Cleveland, Esther, Danielle, and Hanna Chung; one great grandson, Matthew Baik. Funeral services 1 p.m. with Rev. Tony Amerine officiating. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery.

Bruce W. Hoover
Bruce W. Hoover. Funeral service Wed. 11:30 a.m. in the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home (Rt. 93, Canal Fulton), Ken Morrison officiating. Burial with Military Honors at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday (tonight) 5-8 p.m.

Carmelita J. Bodway
Carmelita J. (Ciprian) (Forchione) Bodway, age 84, of Canton, passed away Friday afternoon at Arbors of Canton after an extended illness. She was a life resident of Canton. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Tom Forchione, and her second husband, Benjamin Bodway; her parents, Anthony and Donata Ciprian; one brother, Norman Ciprian; three sisters, Dorothy Yeary, Virginia Minniti and Connie Plaga. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Toni and Rick Carothers of Plano, TX; one son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Aurelia Forchione of Marlton, New Jersey; one brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Florence Ciprian of Euclid, OH; one brother-in-law, Julius Minniti of Canton; nieces, Donna Blosser and Ann Pasquerela; and nephews, Lynn Minniti, Don Bagueros, Gary and Curtis Ciprian; great-nephews, Brian and Randy Blosser; three grandchildren, Kevin Forchione, Eric Forchione and Jenny Deardorff. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Rossi Funeral Home with her daughter, Toni Carothers having the services. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. There will be one hour for calling on Tuesday morning from 9-10 a.m. in the Rossi Funeral Home.

Charles F. Spillman
Charles Franklin Spillman, 75, of Bolivar, OH., died peacefully at home Sunday, February 17, 2002. Born March 17, 1926, in Meigs Twp., Muskingum County. He was a Sports enthusiast as a Player, Coach and Fan; he enjoyed Ohio County Fairs. Most important to him was his family and friends. He retired from Timken Co. in 1982 after 32 years of service. He was a member of Muskingum College Round Ball Club and The Wilds, graduated from Meigs High School in 1944; and was a 42 year member of Christ United Methodist Church, Canton. He served in the Army in Korea during World War II. Mr. Spillman is survived by his wife, Freda Maxine (McCune) Spillman, who he married on June 28, 1952, they would have celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in June this year; sons, Marc C. (Wendy) Spillman, Bolivar, Kirk E. (Lori) Spillman, Zoar, Eric T. (Nancy) Spillman, Bolivar; brother, John William (Gladys) Spillman, Canton; sisters, Leah (Howard) Bigony, Baltimore, OH., Rachel (John) Sweeney, Columbus, Joan (Rex) Hoon, New Concord; grandchildren, Cindy, Scott, David, Matt, Todd and Steven Spillman; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles E. and Clytie (McIntire) Spillman; sisters, Glenna Mae Spillman, and Louanna (Spillman) Green. Calling hours Tuesday (TODAY) 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. in the Thompson Farus Funeral Home, 383 Main St., Duncan Falls, OH., where services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m., with Rev. Roy Keyser officiating. Burial in Ark Springs Cemetery. Doris J. Chandler. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday 1 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Rev. Martin Mayle officiating. Calling hours at the funeral home two hours prior to services on Wednesday 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

Elsa D. Nader
Elsa Daughinas Nader of Gahanna, OH, passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002 . She was born Nov. 2, 1926 in Lithuania. A former resident of Canton,, she retired from Aultman Hospital. Member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Preceded in death by dear friend, Peter Peretta, Sr. She will be lovingly missed by her son and daughter-in-law, Gustavo and Janilee Nader of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter, Maria Nader of Gahanna; grandsons, Michael, Sean, Mark and Nicholas; many friends. Graveside Funeral services and interment will be Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002 at Mifflin Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday 6-8 p.m. at Elsa's home. Arrangements by the Schoedinger Northeast Chapel.

Esther Montgomery
Esther M. (Lucas) (Arnold) Montgomery, age 87, formerly of Poplar Ave. NW, Canton died Sunday evening, February 17, 2002 at 10:05 p.m. in Rose Lane Health Center in Massillon following a long illness. She was born November 11, 1914 in Rochester, PA to the late Thomas and Ida (Cotters) Lucas. She is a graduate of Augusta High School, a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She is also a member of Daughters of America Lodge #250 in Minerva. She was formerly employed by the Sterling Bakery as their first lady retail sales delivery person, the former owner of Fairview Gladioli Farm, previously managed the Towne 30 Diner and Bill's Diner of Canton, and she also formerly worked at the information desk at Aultman Hospital. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Arnold; her second husband, James Montgomery; four brothers, Tim, Jim, Thomas and Lewis Lucas; a sister, Eva Lucas. She is survived by a sister, Clara Lucas of Minerva and a brother, Lester Lucas of Canton. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Rev. Richard Welch officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Freda Glaser. Services will be held Wednesday February 20, 2002, at 11 a.m. in the Arnold Funeral Home with Rabbi Spitzer officiating. Interment in Canton Hebrew Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make all donations to the Jewish Family Service, c/o Canton Jewish Community Center, 2631 Harvard Ave. NW, Canton, OH 44709.

James F. Shepard
James F. Shep Shepard, age 76, of Sandford, FL, formerly of Canton, passed away Feb. 15, 2002 after an extended illness. Born May 27, 1924, he was retired from Hercules Engines after 37 years of service. Shep was an inductee of the Stark County Amateur Fastpitch H.O.F. and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Survived by his wife, Helen V. (Daniluk) Shepard of Sanford, FL; son, Richard (Jill) Shepard of Delaware, OH; daughters, Paula (Donald) Lindamood of Sanford, FL and Pamela (Sam) Burkett of Lake Alfred, FL; sisters, Molly Goduto of Cambridge, OH, and Mary Gerber of Houston, TX; brothers, John Shepard, Edward Shepard and Ronald Shepard of Cambridge, OH; four grandchildre.n; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services were handled in Sanford, FL. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to: Hospice of the Comforter, 595 Montgomery Rd., Altamounte Springs, FL 32714.

Joanne M. Ackerman
Joanne M. Ackerman, age 68, of Barberton formerly of the Robertsville-Canton area, died Sunday morning Feb. 17, 2002 in Barberton Citizens Hospital after a brief illness. Born Sept. 27, 1933 in Canton to the late Andrew F. and Agnes Mary (Crowl) Ackerman. Preceded in death by fiance, Eugene Pritchard, Jr. Joanne spent a great deal of her life taking care of her family. Survived by sister, Kay Jean Proctor of Minerva; brothers, Walter (Carol) Ackerman of North Industry, Robert (Mary) Ackerman of Malvern, William (Dorothy) Ackerman of Barberton, Daniel Ackerman of Malvern; six nieces; 14 nephews; 18 great nieces; 14 great nephews and several cousins. Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Waltner-Simchak Funeral Home with Rev. Rodney Pamer officiating. Burial in Liberty Cemetery, Paris Twp. Friends may call Wednesday 7-9 p.m.

Lois A. Burns
Lois A. (Seevers) Burns, age 81, after a long illness, Lois died peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She graduated from McKinley High School in 1938 and during the 1940's she worked for the Timken Co. and was a nurses aide at Mercy Hospital. From 1956 through 1971 she was the head cook at St. Peter's School and is remembered fondly by many for her good school meals. She retired form Haines Publishing Co. in the mid 1980's and continued working at home for a number of years. Lois was a life long member of St. Peter's Church of Canton. Lois was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth J. Seevers, who died in 1976 and is survived by her husband, Carlos T. Burns with whom she would have celebrated 60 years of marriage on July 18th; four children, David S. Burns of Canton, Patricia A. and Ralph Nunez of Alliance, James T. burns and Jetta Flowers of Canton South, and Michael T. and Sharon Burns of Canton; five grandchildren, Angela and Christopher Boni, Tony Burns, Lori and Todd Burns; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Justin Burns; one sister, Mary A. and George E. Cheney of North Canton; and nephews, George E. Cheney and Sally Planalp of Montana. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Peter's Catholic Church with Fr. Donald Oser as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6-9 p.m. in the Wackerly Funeral Home.

Louis J. Schuler
Louis J. Schuler, age 89, of Canton, passed away Saturday evening, Feb. 16, 2002, at The McKinley Life Care Center following an extended illness due to Alzheimer's Disease. Born in Canton, OH on Jan. 20, 1913, he was a former employee of The Timken Co., Westinghouse, Atlas Power of Ravenna, Canton Drop Forge and retired from Ford Motor after 27 years of service. Louis was a very good golfer, known for his automatic swing, and was Senior Champ twice, one at Skyland Pines and one at Edgewood Golf Course. He was also a very good bowler. Survivors include his wife, Anna Schuler; six children, Mary Ann Santarelli of Canton, Louis Schuler of Michigan, Barbara Cugino of West Palm Beach, FL, Thomas Schuler of Wisconsin, Ronald Schuler of Charlotte, NC, and Stephanie Maxwell of Wash., D.C.; one brother and sister-in-law, Herman and Betty Schuler; sister, Victoria Vince; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. He will be in Anna's heart forever; Love of her life. There will be no calling hours and a private funeral will be held.

Marian E. Barry
Marian E. Barry, age 91, formerly of Hartville, OH, Lake Cable, OH, Beaver Falls, PA, and more recently a resident of The Canton Regency, passed away suddenly in Aultman Hospital on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002. A native of Kent Ohio, she taught school for 25 years in Hartville, Oh, Brimfield, OH and Plain City, OH. Mrs Barry was a 1931 graduate of Kent State University. Memberships include Trinity United Church of Christ in Canton, OH, where she was past president of Women's Guild. Also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and a former board member of The Ohio Retired Teachers. She is preceded in death by her husband, Phil M. Barry in July 2000; parents, Charles and Charlotte (Moore) Flower; brother, Frank Flower; sisters, Margie Kenward, Florence McDivitt, and Maxine Siefer. Survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Louise and David Rush of Torreon, Mexico; son and daughter-in-law, Eldon and Jean Barry of Beaver, PA; grandchildren, Scott and Lisa Rush, San Antonio, TX, Meghan and John Dowell, Montgomery, AL, Scott and Amy Irons, Beaver, PA, Laurie and Bob Richard, Virginia Beach, VA, Kim and Keith Magby, Dayton, OH, Georgia Dixon, Williamsburg, VA, Elizabeth Barry, Union City, PA; great grandchildren, Courtney Bruce, Bradley Bruce, Tammi Dixon, Danielle Dixon, Julie Dixon, Katie Magby, Bryan Magby, Matt Magby, Taylor Irons. Also survived by her twin sister, Lillian Lewis, Cortland, OH; brothers, Horace Flower, Kent, OH, Charles Flower, Santa Maria, CA; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Trinity United Church of Christ, Canton, OH. Friends will be received Wednesday in the Schneeberger Funeral Home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Thursday in the church parlor. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent, Ohio. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, 3909 Blackburn Rd. N.W. Canton, OH 44718.

Norman E. Phillips. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Community Christian Church with Rev. Dr. Donald G. Bair officiating. Burial will be in North Canton Cemetery. Friends may call at the Karlo - Feucht Funeral Home, 5000 Everhard Rd. NW, Canton, OH., 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. (today) Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Christian Church.

Patricia Mullally Gilmore. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with Fr. John R. Nentwick as Celebrant. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday (today) from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home.

Pauline Trout. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday 11 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Howard officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Calling hours at the funeral home Tuesday 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made in her name to the Charity of your choice.

Randy L. (Schaffer) Schaffernocker
Randy L. (Schaffer) Schaffernocker. Friends may call Tuesday (today) from 5-8 p.m. at the Rossi Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. in the Rossi Funeral Home Chapel.

Sandra J. Tawney
Sandra J. Tawney, age 47, of Silverton, OR, formerly from Beach City, OH, passed away February 14, 2002 from a lengthy battle with Cancer. She is survived by her husband, Donald Tawney of 32 years; two daughters, Wendy Massy and Amber Tawney; and four grandchildren. Her Ohio family includes her father, Elmer Dillehay of Navarre; two brothers, Harold Dillehay of Strasburg, and Tom Cerrett of New Philadelphia; three sisters, Linda Gnagy of New Philadelphia, Mary Sprenger of Navarre and Marlene Nicolas of Navarre. She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Dillehay who also died of Cancer. A memorial service will be held at Faith Baptist Church, in Wilmont, OH on March 2nd, 2002 at 5 p.m. for family and friends.

Thelma I. Radford
Thelma I. Radford, age 90, a resident of Carroll Healthcare Center in Carrollton, passed away there Sunday morning. She was born in Louisville, a daughter of the late Charles and Elsie Miller Fallot, and was a Canton area resident most of her life. Preceded in death by her husband, Otis Radford, on December 7, 1962, and her daughter, Donna Evans, on September 10, 2001. Survived by her sister, Mrs. Edward (Doris) McDade of Magnolia; two grandchildren, Sharon Baucum and her husband, Keith, of Columbus, OH, and Keith Evans and his wife, Tabitha, of Mt. Vernon, OH; and four great grandsons. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in Greenlawn Cemetery in Sandyville with Rev. Dale Boston officiating. There will be no calling hours. The Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia is in charge of arrangements.
