Alma R. Winkler, age 84 of East Canton died unexpectedly Saturday morning in Aultman Hospital. Daughter of the late, Rudolph and Clara (Knapp) Biltz. She was an East Canton area resident since 1945 and was a self employed housekeeper for several years. Member of St. Benedict Catholic Church where she was active in the Rosary/Altar Society, the Quilting Club, and served as Eucharistic Minister. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Winkler in 2001, to whom she had been married 62 years, two brothers and one grandson. She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Larry Jr. and Nancy Winkler of Green, George Butch Winkler of Grandville, OH, William Winkler of East Canton, Richard and Susie Winkler of Mineral City; four daughters and sons-in-law, Martha Alkire of Canton, Betty Fryfogle and Joe Calabretta of Massillon, Suzi and Mike Himes of East Canton, Dorothy Notz and her fiancee Robert Jones of Canton; five sisters, Winifred Kaltenbach of Roostown, Mary Katherine Knapp of Denver, CO, Isabelle Moore, Betty Mae King, and Shirley Reimenschneider all of Roostown; fifteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Benedict Catholic Church with Fr. John Zuzik as celebrant. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday 6-9 p.m. in the Myers-Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton. Prayer services at 8:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association at 4815 Munson Street NW, Canton, OH 44718.

Anna May Harris
Anna May Harris, age 87, formerly of Canton, OH and more recently of Cridersville, OH died early Saturday morning in Lima Memorial Hospital. Born November 23, 1923 in Masury, OH to the late, Mede James and Data May Buzard. She was a graduate of Canton McKinley High School and was retired from the Timken Co. after 40 years of service. Preceded in death by two brothers, James Benjamin and William Meade Buzard, one sister, Mary Alice Paige and one great-grandchild. Survivors include her daughter, Annette Hursh of Cridersville, OH; one sister and brother-in-law, Emma and Melvin Rhiel of East Canton; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Calling hours in the funeral home Tuesday one hour prior to services from 12:00 Noon - 1:00 p.m.

Anthony J. Painter
Anthony Tony J. Painter. Services will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the North Industry Christian Church with Pastor Jeff Gindlesberger officiating. A private family committal service will be Wednesday in the Melscheimer Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday 4-7 p.m. in the church. Ashley Rose Lonca
Ashley Rose Lonca, age 15, of Canton died Friday evening following injuries sustained in an automobile accident. A life resident of Canton Ashley was a sophomore at Canton South High School and a member of All Saints Catholic Church. She was interested in architecture, and had a very special love for her family and will be sadly missed. Preceded in death by grandfather, Stanley Lonca and a cousin, Jacob Hanood. Survivors include her mother and father, Susan (Hanood) and Mitchell Lonca of Canton; two sisters, Emily and Olivia Lonca; grandparents, Doris Hanood, Minnie Lonca, Paul Hanood and Patty Stone; aunts and uncles, Keith and Jannell, Steve and Stephanie, Scott and Rebecca, Kim and Mark, Josie and Ziggy, Glenn and Cleleste, Kevin and Renee, Dennis, and special Aunt Jean; cousins, Delaney, Kelly, Krissy, Elizabeth, Kristen, Laura, Sarah, Jennifer, Justin, Carly, Josh, and Megan. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday 10:00 a.m. in All Saints Catholic Church with Fr. Thomas Bishop officiating. Entombment will be in the Forest Hill Mausoleum. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Spiker-Foster-SHRIVER Funeral Home 710 Tuscarawas St., W. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family for the establishment of an educational fund for Ashley's sisters.

Jack L. Riehl,
Jack L. Riehl, age 76, of Canton, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002 following an extended illness. He was born April 9, 1925, in Canton, son of the late Walter and Hazel (Miller) Riehl. He retired in 1983 after 35 yrs with Ohio Bell where he was an engineer. He was a veteran of WWII where he served in the Army as a medic. He was a member of Westbrook Park United Methodist Church, Telephone Pioneers of America, was an avid golfer and worked summers at Branhaven Swim and Tennis Club. He is survived by two daughters- and sons-in-law, Connie and Lee Prazer, and Kathleen and Mark Hewitt both of Jackson Twp., and three grandchildren, Lesley DiRocco, Daniel Prazer and Steven Prazer. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jeraldine (Varner) Riehl (died July 5, 2001), and his brother, Richard Riehl. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002 at Heitger Funeral Service - Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Rd NW, Jackson Twp, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ross Wyman officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Canton. Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 5, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. James T. Meter Williamson
James T. Meter Williamson, age 65, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 31, 2002, following an extended illness. Born April 4, 1936 in McCombers, WV. He was a retired employee of the East Ohio Gas Company. He was the first African American meter reader for the City of Canton. Preceded in death by his parents, Ethel and Thurman Williamson, one sister, three brothers, and a grandson. Member of People's Baptist Church, where he sang in the male chorus, former member of the Canton Negro Oldtimers Athletic Association and the Elk's Club. James leaves to cherish his precious memories, wife, Annette Williamson of the home; daughter, Jann Williamson of Middleton, CT; son, Jamahl Jammer (Anjel) Williamson of Canton; two grandchildren, Mikayla and Jamaree Williamson, both of Canton; step-children, Crystal and Tyrone; step-granddaughter, Kevonna; brothers, Leon Williamson, Tyrus Williamson, both of Reidsville, NC, Curtis Williamson of Baltimore, MD, Fred Martin of Middleton, CT; sisters, Veda (Alfred) Sharp, Brenda (James) Moses, Jann (Cornelius) Moore, all of Reidsville, NC; sisters-in-law, Gardenia Williamson of Pensacola, FL, Victoria and Mildred Williamson of Reidsville, NC and the High Family; special friends, Provens Family, Ballard Family, Sam Williams and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Lois I. Baker
Lois I. Baker, age 63 of East Canton died Sunday morning in her daughter's home following an extended illness. Daughter of the late Clarence and Leona (Mayer) Kinsinger. She was life resident of the East Canton area, retiring from Aultman Hospital in 1997 after 20 years of service. Member of the First United Church of Christ in Canton. A 1956 graduate of East Canton High School. Lois was a very loving and giving person devoting her life to her family. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Baker Sr. in 1993, and one nephew, Scott Humes. Survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Nancy Smith of Louisville, Deborah and Garry Bonam of East Canton; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert E. Jr., and Debbie Baker of East Canton; nine grandchildren, Lisa, Joshua, Ashley, Tyler, Angela, Natalie, Brandon, Robert III, and Kayla; four great grandchildren, Alexandria, Jenna, Jessica and Michael; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Earl And Ruth Kinsinger of Tampa, FL, Gary and Linda Kinsinger of Louisville, John and Pat Kinsinger of Palm Bay, FL, Ormun and Nancy Kinsinger, Dale and Cathy Kinsinger, all of East Canton; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Zella and Richard Yohe of Canton, Marilyn and Howard Hall of East Canton, Carol and Keith Miller of Bethesda, MD, Wilma and Tim Humes of Canton, Sandy and Jim Bellamy of East Canton; numerous and nieces and nephews. Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in the First United Church of Christ with Pastor Bill Seymour officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Wednesday 6-9 p.m. in the Myers-Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton. Margaret V. Edwards
Margaret V. Edwards Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Don Williams Funeral Home with Fr. Thomas Dyer officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Monday 7-9 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Salvation Army.

Marilyn S. Shortridge
Marilyn S. Shortridge, age 76 of Canton, passed away Saturday morning, February 2, 2002 in Aultman Hospital. Born June 15, 1925 in Canton to the late Howard F. and Margaret (Williard) Schumacher. Mrs. Shortridge was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Hathaway Brown and Northwestern University. Also a member of the Junior League of Canton where she was honored with the President's Award in 1996 and the Line and Design Garden Club of Canton. She served on the Women's Board of Aultman Hospital where she was also a volunteer for over twenty years. Preceded in death by her husband, John A. Shortridge on August 14, 1984. Survived by a daughter, Amy L. Shortridge; son, John A. Shortridge Jr.; sister, Ann (David) Renkert. Following cremation a memorial service will be held Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel at Christ Presbyterian Church with Pastor Rusty Cowden officiating. Private entombment will take place in North Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Aultman Women's Board Tribute Fund. The Arnold Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mildred E. Swope
Mildred Elizabeth Swope, a resident of the Canton Christian Home died there Saturday afternoon. Born in Alliance, OH in 1906 to J. Walter and Clara Wheeler she graduated of McKinley High School and was an active member of the class of 1925. Member of Canton Sorosis, Canton Sorosis Book Club, North Canton AARP, North Canton Women's Club, North Canton Community Building Senior Citizens, and St. Paul's Catholic Church. Preceded in death by her husband, John C. Swope in 1976 and brother, J. Ramon Wheeler of South Bend, IN. Survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carol Lyle Carr of Canton and son daughter-in-law, J. David Carroll Swope of Canton; grandchildren, Sarah Shirka of Gahanna, OH, Laura and Richard Milligan of Canton, Stephen Carr of Garfield Hts., OH; great grandchildren, Amanda Kevin Shirka, Rachel, Sarah, Anna Faith Milligan, and Lindsey Carr. The family expresses their gratitude to the staff at Canton Christian Home for their kind and loving care. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in St. Paul's Catholic Church in North Canton with Revs. Msr. James A. Clarke as celebrant. Burial will be in North Canton Cemetery. Robert G. Wey Sr.
Robert G. Wey Sr, 74 of Canton died Saturday at home. He was retired from the Timken Co. as a Coordinator of Branch Services with 38 years of service and served as a military policeman in the U.S. Army. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Gary McLane of Austin, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Robert G. Jr. and Jan Wey of Canton; grandchildren, Samantha Ann and Michael A. McLane and Joseph S. Wey. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha (Grove) Wey in 1992. Graveside services will be held Tuesday in St. Jacob Cemetery, Cario. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to Dr. Greg Haban. Sally J. Hopp
Sally J. Hopp, age 62 of Jackson Township, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2002 in her home with her family at her side. He death followed an extended illness. She was born on June 10, 1939 in Navarre to the late Russell and Joyce Marie (Airhart) Couts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Stephanie Pett. Sally was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Massillon and was a lifelong area resident. She was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and was employed at Republic Technologies International with over 30 years of service. She was a member, supporter and volunteer of many organizations during her lifetime. She loved her flower and vegetable gardens. She also loved cooking, baking, knitting and crocheting. She loved to travel with her husband Bob. Sally believed in saying daily prayers each morning and did so faithfully all of her adult life. She is survived by her husband, Robert J. Hopp with whom she celebrated 40 years of marriage on September 23, 2001. She is also survived by her sisters and brothers-in-laws, Diana and Richard Happoldt of Massillon, Teresa Couts of Canton, Debra and Bruce Henze of Jackson Township and several nieces and nephews and many friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. John-Michael Lavelle celebrating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m.

Stephen F. (Squibbs) David. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Fr. William Shipe, and Fr. Thomas Bishop as Celebrants. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Wackerly Funeral Home. The Slovak Catholic Sokol will hold a prayer service at 6:45 p.m. in the funeral home. Tiffany Marie Gizzi
Tiffany Marie Gizzi, 19, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2002. Tiffany is survived by mother and step-father, Connie and Kenneth Taddie; father and step-mother, Larry and Robbin Gizzi; grandparents, Millie and Jack Coleman, Phill and Vivian Gizzi, Bill and Rita Haag, Marie and George Taddie; brothers, Jan and James Gizzi; sister, Sara Hart; fiance Brian Maciejewski; and many other family and friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 10:30 a.m. at the Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Funeral Home, 95 W. Waterloo Rd, Akron and 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Wanda Marie Fox
Wanda Marie Fox. Funeral Services Tuesday 1:00 p.m. at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home (Rt. 93, Canal Fulton) where friends may call Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Charles Tobias officiating. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Akron. Memorials may be made to either the Canal Fulton United Methodist Church or the Northwest Stark Senior Center.

Wilbur E. Smith
Wilbur E. (Bill) Smith, age 73, of Navarre, died early Sunday morning, February 3, 2002 in his home following an extended illness. Wilbur was born on July 20, 1928 in Canton to the late Ernest and Marvel Smith. A graduate of East Canton High School, he attended Ohio State University before serving four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Virginia (Ginny) Smith; daughter, Karen Smith of Massillon; son, Christopher (Jill) Smith of Louisville, grandchildren, Isaac and Leah; brothers, Kenneth and Neal; and sisters, Jackie Bowman and Barbara More. He was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley and a sister, Edith. Wilbur retired from The Timken Company in 1990 after 34 years of service. He was a member of Greenwood Christian Church. Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Schneeberger Funeral Home. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers memorials donations may be made to the Greenwood Christina Church or Siffrin Residential Association, Inc.
