Emmette T. Flanary
Emmette T. Flanary, age 86, of 491 Antiqua Road, Carrollton, Ohio died Thursday June 21, 2001 in Aultman Hospital, Canton, Ohio. He was born on September 26, 1914 in Lee County, VA. He was the son of the late, Elkanah and Tura Vista (Glass) Flanary. He was a crane operator for the former Republic Steel of Canton. He was a member of the Carrollton Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. He was married on November 9, 1942 to Phyllis Moore who survives along with three sons and daughters-in-law, E. Tyler and June Flanary of Carrollton, Randall P. Flanary of E. Rochester, OH, David N. and Sandy Flanary of Carrollton; one sister, Hazel R. Waltman of West Grove, PA; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by ten sisters. Memorial services will be held on Friday at 7 p.m. in the Carrollton Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses with Glen Grover officiating. The body was cremated. Allmon-Dugger Hively Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Flora A. Cugliari
Flora A. (Fonte) Cugliari, 82, of North Canton, a loving wife, great-mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon surrounded by her family, after a brief illness. A life resident of Canton and North Canton, she was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church of North Canton and was a retired employee of the Hoover Company. Preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Sandarella Fonte; sister, Edith Teolis; brothers, Rich, Guido, Albert Fonte; and granddaughter, Amanda Druckenbrod. She is survived by her husband, Sam Cugliari with whom she would have celebrated 48 years of marriage in September; daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Tim Piatt, Pamela Cugliari, Sally and Steve Hill all of North Canton; grandchildren, Angela Paitt, Allison (Kevin) Granito, Tim Piatt, Miranda Druckenbrod, Stephanie Hill, Daniel Hill; sisters and brother-in-law, Mary and Alex Garcia of Canton; Jeanna Zitella of Chicago, IL. Friends may call Friday 6-9 p.m. in the ROSSI FUNERAL HOME and one hour before services on Saturday 10-11 a.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.

Hazel Butler
Hazel Butler, age 66, of 4421 Apollo Rd., Salineville, OH, died Wednesday morning, June 27, 2001, in her home following a short illness. She was born Jan. 21, 1935, in Lisbon, to Frank and Johanna (Stewart) Anderson. She was a housewife, member of the Augusta Christian Church and a graduate of Salineville High School. She is survived by her husband, George Butler, whom she married July 2, 1955; a daughter, Mrs. Brady (Kim) Reed of Mechanicstown; three sisters, Mrs. Leonard (Mary) Saltsman of Hanoverton, Mrs. Glen (Stella) Hillyer of Kensington, A Belle May of Kensington; two grandchildren. Natalee and Jordy Kellog of Mechanicstown. Preceded in death by a sister, Edith Mae Stepanic and four brothers, Owen, Harold, Charles and Francis James Anderson.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Mr. Bill Bush officiating. Burial will be in Augusta Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Augusta Christian Church.

Jennie J. Barbato
Jennie J. (Bernardo) Barbato. Friends may call on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. in the ROSSI FUNERAL HOME. A Mass of Christian Burial will be sung on Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Tom Bishop as celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary.

Marilyn J. Hardesty
Marilyn J. Hardesty. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 10 a.m. at the Reed Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Ulmer officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Calling hours at the funeral home Thursday (tonight) 7-9 p.m.

Mark C. Kerr, Jr.
Mark C. Kerr, Jr., area pharmacist, born September 30th, in Canton, OH, died after a courageous battle with heart disease. Mark was born in Canton, OH and graduated from Central Catholic High School, Canton. He attended Kent State University with a B.A. degree, and the pharmacy school at Ohio State. He attended Liberty Freewill Baptist Church of Norton. He belonged to Stark/Summit County Pharmaceutical Asst. Alumni, Ohio State Univ, former JCC Jaycee, West Akron Board of Trade. He retired from Kaiser Permanente Chapel Hill as a pharmacist. Mark was an avid football fan for Ohio State University, an Indians fan, and enjoyed fishing and gospel music. Most of all, he loved and adored his family. Preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Mark C. and Nellie Kerr; daughter, Rebecca; sisters, Berndette, Mary Rita; mother-in-law, Kathleen Miller. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis (PJ); sons, Mark C. Kerr III (Debbie) of Canton, Joseph (Jan) of Jackson Twp., James of Leesville; daughters, Mary Kathleen, Christine, Elizabeth of Akron, Patricia (Chris) of Canton, Sheila (Tava) of New Mexico, Claudia (Eddie) of Alliance; father-in-law, James (Miriam) Miller; 13 grandchildren; brother, Alfred (Patti) of Massillon; sister, Jane of Pennsylvania; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Celebration of life services for Mark will be at the Liberty Freewill Baptist Church, 3819 Johnson Rd., Norton, on Saturday, June 30, 2001, beginning at 11 a.m. with Rev. Cecil Farmer officiating. Friends may call at the Bacher Funeral Home, 3250 Greenwich Rd., Norton, on Friday, June 29, 2001, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Mary Marie Jones
Mary Marie Jones, age 69, of Canton, passed away suddenly Tuesday evening in her residence. She was born in Clay County, WV, and had been a Canton resident five years. Survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, Robert and Kathy Taylor, of Magnolia, Graham and Pamela Taylor, of Sandyville, James and Linda Taylor, of Jacksonville, FL, William Taylor and his friend, Amy Berryhill, of Homosassa, FL; three sisters, Amy Abbuhl, of New Philadelphia, Anna Pyles of Canton, and Mrs. Arthur (Nina) Chapman, of Dalton; two brothers, Brooks Cottrell, of Mineral City, and Arnold Cottrell, of Soddy Daisy, TN; one granddaughter, Tiffany Taylor. Following cremation, graveside services will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. in German Cemetery in Mineral City with Rev. Robert E. Jones officiating. Friends may call Friday 7-9 p.m. at the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia.

Pearl C. McKnight
Pearl C. McKnight. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday (today) 11 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Rev. Raymond Tucker officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Calling hours at the funeral home one hour before the services on Thursday, (today) 10-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Rosalie Roth
Rosalie Roth, age 85, of Canton, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2001 at Mercy Medical Center. Born in New Philadelphia. She was a retired employee of the M. O'Neil Co. A member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Canton. Preceded in death by her husband, Lorain William Bud Roth. Survived by a daughter and son-in-law, J. Marilyn and Jack D. Meadows of Canton; six step-grandchildren: several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church of Canton. Celebrant with Msgr. Frank Carfagna. Entombment in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours Friday 7-9 p.m. at the Welch-Sekeres-Lewis Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to St. Joseph Catholic Church of Canton.

Ruby E. Glekler
Ruby E. Glekler, age 82, of 456 W. New York Ave., Sebring, OH, died at Canterbury Villa of Alliance on Tuesday, June 26, 2001. She was born in Lyman, ID on May 17, 1919 to William O. and Minerva Elizabeth (Hutton) Dillon. Survived by her husband, George P. Glekler, whom she married August 26, 1939; daughters, Karen King of Alliance and Kay Rine of Leland, NC; sisters, Stella Donahoe of Alliance and Thelma Dillon of Gallipolis, OH; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, George J. Glekler in December, 1998; brothers, William E. and Charles F.; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter. Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. in the Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Plauger officiating. Interment in Highland Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday (today) 2-9 p.m. with family present 7-9 p.m.

Ruth F. Mentzor
Ruth F. Mentzor, age 83, of Minerva, died Wednesday, June 27, 2001 at Minerva Eldercare following a long illness. Born August 6, 1917, she was the daughter of the late James and Grace (Freed) Murphy. Funeral services will be held in the Bartley Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Friday, June 29, 2001 with Msgr. John Michael Campbell officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Malvern. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home one hour before services.

Susan J. Self
Susan J. Self, age 86, of Massillon, passed away Tuesday morning, June 26, 2001 in the emergency room of Massillon Community Hospital following an extended illness. Born in West Virginia, June 24, 1915 to her parents the late Wilbert E. and Amy L. (Ireland) Brake, she lived most of her life in the Massillon area. She was a retired LPN, retiring from Shady Lawn Nursing Home and a former employee of Massillon State Hospital. Mrs. Self was a member of First Christian Church in Massillon and the AARP. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gorman C. Self, Sr.; brother, William Brake. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Gorman (Jack) C. Self, Jr. and Jennie Self of Massillon, Stephen Neal Self of Massillon, Roger A. and Sue Self of Youngstown; two sisters, Phyllis Ann Cadrin of Arizona, Mary Catherine Brake of Maryland; two brothers, Phillip Brake of Maryland and Albert Brake of West Virginia; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home. Burial in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Calling hours Friday 6-8 p.m.
