USA High School Yearbooks by State and County

James M. Morgan

James M. Morgan, 68, of Amherst, died Saturday at Community Health Partners West after a long illness.
Born in November of 1931 in Chattanooga, Tenn., Mr. Morgan moved to Amherst in the late 1950s.
He worked from 1960 to 1980 as an inspector for the Ford Motor Company.
Survivors include his brother, William of Las Vegas; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Freedom Chapel of Resthaven Memory Garden Cemetery and Mausoleum, 3700 Center Ridge Road, Avon.
Arrangements were made by Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst.

Frank Staszak

Frank Staszak, 84, of Phoenix and formerly of Lorain died Sunday at his home.

He was born in Horning, Pa.

He was a tool and die maker for 46 years with U.S. Steel before retiring in 1979 and moving to Phoenix, Ariz. He returned to Lorain County in 1997 to live with his daughter, Bridgette R. Ross of Elyria, before moving back to Phoenix.

Mr. Staszak enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Besides his daughter, survivors include a son, Vincent J. of Mankato, Minn.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Davis of Lorain and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Tillie, in 1982; a son, Robert, in 1984; an infant son, Michael; a sister, Jean Delaney; and brothers Steve, George and John.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Reidy-Scanlan-Chambers Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, where services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave., Lorain.

The Rev. G. Michael Williamson, associate pastor, will be the celebrant.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.

George E. Ternent

George E. Ternent, 82, of Palm Harbor, Fla., and formerly of Elyria died Saturday at Mease Hospital in Dunedin, Fla.

Born in Marine City, Mich., he moved from Elyria to Florida in 1994.

A graduate of the University of Detroit, he was chief mechanical engineer for the Bendix-Westinghouse Co. before retiring.

Mr. Ternent was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Palm Harbor, Fla.

Survivors include his wife of 53 1/2 years, Lillian B.; a son, George R. of Lakewood; a daughter, Dorothy Phillips of Lakeworth, Fla.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The Curlew Hills Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Palm Harbor is handling arrangements.

Ruby Maria Dayton

Ruby Maria Dayton (nee Bechtel), 101, of Amherst died Monday at Amherst Manor Nursing Home after a long illness.
Born in Elyria, she was raised here until moving to Pittsfield Township in 1921. She lived in the township for 33 years.
She moved to Amherst in 1972.
A homemaker, she was a member of the Family Fellowship Foursquare Gospel Church in Amherst, where she was a deaconess and president of the United Foursquare Women.
Mrs. Dayton was a member of the Farm Bureau Council.
She enjoyed gardening and quilting.
Survivors include a daughter, Evelyn Christian of Amherst; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Howard, in 1971; her parents, Frank and Rhoda (nee Kolb) Bechtel; and a brother, Nelson Bechtel in 1953.
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Family Fellowship Foursquare Gospel Church, 780 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst.
The Rev. Myrtle Eppler, minister to seniors at the church, will officiate.
Burial will be in North Murray Ridge Cemetery in Elyria.
Memorials may be made to the Family Fellowship Foursquare Gospel Church, 780 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst 44001.

Kauffman services

Services for Lowell T. Kauffman, 64, of New Bern, N.C., a native of Elyria, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria.
The Rev. Paul E. Jaster, pastor of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Elyria, will officiate.
Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
Memorials may be made to the family, in care of Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria 44035.
Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Kauffman died Monday at Craven Regional Medical Center in New Bern after a short illness.
He lived in Elyria most of his life. He lived in New Bern since 1996.
An Elyria High School graduate, he worked at the Ridge Tool Co. for 29 years before retiring. He worked in the shipping department.
An avid Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians fan, he also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Jeffrey of Atlanta; a daughter, Laurie Kosco of New Bern; four grandchildren; and brothers Robert of Grandview, Mo., and Doug of Houston.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise (nee Fraustein), in 1959; his father, Robert P., in 1996; and a brother, Ronald.

George Henry Zvosechz

George Henry Zvosechz, 59, of Amherst Township, died Tuesday after a lengthy illness.
Born in Lorain, he was raised in Sheffield and Elyria.
Mr. Zvosechz has been an Amherst resident for the past 28 years.
He worked as a pipefitter for the Plumber and Pipefitters Union Local 42 in Norwalk for 35 years.
Mr. Zvosechz was a member of the St. Vitus Croatian Church in Lorain, where he was baptized and confirmed.
He was a former member of the Lorain County Beagle Club.
Mr. Zvosechz was a sportsman and enjoyed deer and elk hunting with black powder muzzle load rifles.
He also enjoyed fishing and farming.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Karen M. Zvosechz (nee Zvosec); a son, Donald G. of Pinellas Park, Fla.; daughters Keleen Fazio of Lorain and Jamie Funk of Delaware, Ohio; five grandchildren; brothers Michael, Charles and John, all of Amherst; and sisters Noreen Donat of Elyria and Sharon Kozlowski of Amherst.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George A. and Ethel A. Zvosechz (nee Tumasheska).
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst, where the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
Closing prayers will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Vitus Croatian Church, 1785 East 32nd St., Lorain.
The Rev. Simon Nekic, pastor will officiate.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.

Richard A. Hoes

Richard A. Hoes, 78, of North Ridgeville, died Wednesday at his home following an 18-month illness.

Born in Lakewood, he had been a resident of North Ridgeville all of his adult life.

He served in the Army during World War II.

Mr. Hoes was employed by Ohio Bell as a PBX switchboard installer, retiring in 1982 after 37 years of service.

Survivors include his wife Joyce K. (nee Limpert); daughters, Judy M. Hoes and Janet L. Hoes, both of North Ridgeville; a son, Karl L. of North Ridgeville; and five grandchildren.

Friends may call 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Kacirek Funeral Home, 29060 Lorain Road, North Olmsted, where funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday.

The Rev. William Tumbleson will officiate.

Burial will be private.

Memorials may be made to the Cleveland Sight Center, 1909 E. 101st St., Cleveland 44106 or Hospice of the Western Reserve, 300 E. 185th St., Cleveland 44119.

Charlene Tracy Cantrill

Charlene Tracy Cantrill, 35, of Collins died Sunday at New Life Hospice of St. Joseph in Lorain following a four-year battle with cancer.

She was born in Bucks County, Pa.

Ms. Cantrill was an honor graduate from high school and went on to serve as a chaplain’s secretary in the Army.

She later owned a tanning salon in Wellington, called "Wellingtan," for several years.

She was very strong and independent and loved raising her two boys.

Survivors include her sons Brandon Christopher Cantrill and his father Milton Cantrill of Collins and Ryan Palmer Keathley and his father Duncan Keathley of Wakeman; her mother and stepfather, John and Rosa Rook of Lake Tahoe, Nev.; a sister, Caroline R. Logan of Mercerville, N.J.; one niece; and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Crowson.

Friends may call 5:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Free Will Baptist Church, 205 Woodland St., Wellington where services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday.

The Rev. Billy Joe White, pastor, will officiate.

Burial will follow at Huntington Township Cemetery, Huntington Township.

Memorials can be made to New Life Hospice, 5255 N. Abbe Road, Elyria 44035.

Arrangements were handled by the Gerber-Morman Funeral Home, 16 Cooper St., Wakeman.

Hannon V. Gould

Hannon V. Gould, 97, of Elyria died Wednesday at his home.

Born in Upshur County, W.Va., he moved from Buckhannon, W.Va., to Elyria in 1921 and graduated from Elyria High School in 1924.

He retired from U.S. Steel Co. in 1958 after 34 years of service. He enjoyed farming, and, in his later years, operated a produce stand with his twin brother, Harold.

Mr. Gould was a member of First Congregational Church in Elyria.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Wahlene (nee Otto); a niece, Helen Hancock; a great niece, Robin Hancock; and a great nephew, David Hancock, all of Elyria.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wirth, in 1939; his mother, Essie (nee Cutright), in 1972; a sister, Beatrice Cook, in 1994; and his twin brother, Harold, in 1991.

Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Busch Curtis Scheuffler Family Chapel, 114 Second St. in Elyria, where funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday.The Rev. James Barta, associate pastor of Faith Baptist Temple in North Ridgeville, will officiate.

Interment will be at North Murray Ridge Cemetery in Elyria.
