Amanda Margaret Harper
Died: Tuesday, June 17, 2003
Age: 89

Amanda Margaret Harper, 89, of Oak Hill, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at her residence. Born on Dec. 10, 1913, in Gallia County, Ohio, to the late Charles and Zella (Callaway) Keels.

She was a member of Union Baptist Church, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.

Survivors include three daughters, Doris Craddolph of Oak Hill, Charlene (Doug) Jackson of Fostoria, and Marilyn (David) Craddolph of Xenia; two sons Allen (Jane) Harper of Rodney and Don (Beverly) Harper of Fostoria; two sisters, Jenevee Jones of Chillicothe and Mary Ragland of Circleville; brother, William "Bill" Keels of Columbus; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; also numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband, Frank Harper in 1975; son Franklin Wayne; sister, Anna Mae Mason; brother, David Keels.

Funeral service 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2003, at the Union Baptist Church, Blackfork, with Rev. William King officiating. Burial will follow in Union Baptist Cemetery.

Friends may call on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the Kuhner-Lewis Funeral Home, Oak Hill. Also one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.

Kevin Lee Ison
Died: Tuesday, June 17, 2003
Age: 39

Kevin Lee Ison, 39, of Xenia, passed away unexpectedly. He was born on Nov. 11, 1963, in Xenia, Ohio the son of Leonard and Joyce L. (Walters) Ison.

Kevin was a 1982 Xenia High School graduate.

He is preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Charles O. and Cleo Vern Walters; paternal grandparents, Inez V. and Leonard C. Ison; uncles, James Daily, Walt Ison, Fred Ison and Charles A. Walters; cousins, Chuckie Walters and Michael Lovejoy.

He is survived by his parents of Xenia; two sisters, Terry L. Dabe and Sherry L. Russ, both of Xenia; a brother and sister-in-law, Troy and Melissa Ison of Fairborn; a niece, Savannah Ison of Wayne, Michigan; nephews, Austin Wright of Xenia, James Stout of Kettering and Bryant Stout of Fairborn; aunts and uncles, Willard and Thelma Daily, Erma and George Hines, Harland Eugene Daily, Howard and Wanda Daily, Sandy and Keith Janes and Art and Dee Lovejoy; and lots of cousins and the many friends at Greene County Fish and Game.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 20, 2003, at 1 p.m. at Grape Grove Cemetery.

Leroy James Layne
Died: Tuesday, June 17, 2003
Age: 58

Leroy James Layne, 58, of Tipp City, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2003, in his residence.

He was born Jan. 3, 1945, in McVay, Kentucky, the son of Roy and May (Slaven) Layne.

He was the former owner and operator of a Cable Contracting Business and was a Tool and Die Maker.

He is survived by a daughter, Deanna Layne Johnson of Fairborn; a son, Sean Layne of Huber Heights, Ohio; an adopted son, Shannon Layne of Troy, Ohio; three sisters, Trudy Roberts of Ft. Myers, Florida, Patsy Whitt of Beavercreek, Ohio, and Peggy Whitt of Fairborn; four grandchildren, Derek Johnson, Savannah Layne, Samantha Layne and Dylan Whitt.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, William Layne, Jack Layne, Frank Layne, Tom Layne and Glenn Layne; two sisters, Dorsey Campbell and Eastlean Reddy.

Friends may call in the Byron Church, 3230 Trebein Road, Fairborn, Ohio, Friday from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. with Rev. Wesley Barnhill officiating.

Burial will be in Byron Cemetery.

The family is being served by Burcham Funeral Home, 119 E. Main Street, Fairborn, OH (878-0711).

John E. Barlion
Died: Tuesday, June 17, 2003
Age: 78

John E. Barlion, 78, of Fairborn, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2003, in the Patriot Ridge Community. He was born on June 7, 1925, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of the late James and Ida (Hess) Barlion.

John served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Fairborn St. Luke United Methodist Church.

Preceded in death by a sister.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Betty Y. Barlion; his son, John Barlion Jr.; his daughter, Elizabeth Arredonda both of Nevada; five grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Stewart; a brother, James Barlion both of Cincinnati; as well as numerous other family members and friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 19, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Belton Funeral Home, Fairborn, where funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Chuck Shonkwiler officiating. Graveside services will be conducted on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Cleves, Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Fairborn St. Luke United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.

Walter C. Glass
Died: Monday, June 16, 2003
Age: 90

Walter C. Glass, 90, on Monday, June 16, 2003, died at home. Member of Parkside United Methodist Church and Moose Lodge #11.

Preceded in death by wife, Evelyn; parents, Roy and Elizabeth Glass; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Evelyn Glass.

Survived by daughters, Jayne (Steve) Fetherolf and Barbara (Dave) Parker; grandchildren, Thomas Dean, Leslie (Rick) Treworgy, Kevin Dean, Kimberly (Andrew) Parmater, and Todd Parker; great-grandchildren, April, Michael, Ryan, Jacob, and Kyle; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Henrietta and Marlin Sexten; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service 10 a.m. Friday, June 20, at Schoedinger Hilltop Chapel, 3030 W. Broad St., where friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday. Rev. Earl E. Litman officiating.

Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Contributions may be made to Parkside UMC in his memory.

H. Ginn McClain
Died: Monday, June 16, 2003
Age: 92

H. Ginn McClain, 92, Xenia, passed away Monday evening at Greene Oaks Health Center. He was born Oct. 13, 1910, in Xenia, the son of Fred Forest McClain and Esther Faye Ginn McClain.

He was a longtime Greene County farmer, former President of McClain Excavating, member of Memorial United Presbyterian Church, Board of Directors of the Soil and Water Conservation District, and 60-year member of the Xenia Masonic Lodge #49, F. & A.M. and Xenia Chapter #36, R.A.M.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Helen (Carr) Murrell McClain, Spring City, TN; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Margaret McClain, Cincinnati, and Robert and Susanna McClain, Xenia; a daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Charles Snell, Melbourne, FL; daughter-in-law, Lauretta McClain, Urbana; stepson and wife, Eugene and Ginny Murrell, Spring City, TN; grandchildren and spouses, Andy and Cynthia McClain, Lisa and Duane Phelps, Doug McClain, Amy and Nelson Kuykendahl, Mitch and Terry McClain, Tammy and Scott Phillippi, Rob and Beth McClain, Jon and Dana McClain, Lisa and Dan Shawver, Matt and Debbie Snell, Julia and Kyle Cartier; step-grandchildren, Mike Murrell, Chris and Whitney Murrell, and Jason and Anne Murrell; great-grandchildren, Bryan and Nathan McClain, Tori and Jennifer Phelps, Aaron Kuykendahl, Halley and Sydney McClain, Drew and Cody Phillippi, Morgan and Mason McClain, Andrew Cole, Owen Shawver, Nolan and Nathan Cartier; step-great-grandchildren, Abigail and Jacob Murrell; sister-in-law, Frances Downing, Xenia; nieces, Pat and Steve Nance, Pittsburgh, Pa., and Carolyn and Joe Fankell, Xenia; and great-nieces and nephews, Robert and Rebecca Nance and Asia, Dena, and Owen Fankell; and a great-great-niece, Lauren Fankell.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Velda (Beal) McClain, Oct. 16, 1973; a son, Thomas H. McClain; brother-in-law, Robert Downing; and sister-in-law and husband, Gladys and Marvin Putterbaugh.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2003, at the Memorial United Presbyterian Church, 343 W. Ankeney Mill Rd., Xenia, with Rev. Conley Zomermaand officiating.

Visitation will be held from 6-8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia, where masonic services will be held at 8:30 p.m.

Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, Oh. 45420.

Isabel B. Bull
Died: Saturday, August 30, 2003
Age: 86

Isabel B. Bull, 86, of Cedarville, died Saturday, August 30, 2003, at 7 A.M. in Hospitality Homes East in Xenia, Ohio.

She was born in Highland County, Ohio, on December 3, 1916, the daughter of H.D. and Ella (Morris) Beaver.

She received her B.S. in Education in 1939 from Ohio University. She was a School Teacher for 35 years, 29 years in the Cedar Cliff Schools, retiring in 1975.

Member of Memorial Presbyterian Church in Xenia since 1945 and held many offices in the Church. Member of Green County Woman’s Hall of Fame and Hall of Fame Cedarville School, Director of Cedarville Senior Citizen, Kyle Medical Center Trustee, Volunteer at Greene Memorial Hospital, Past President of Green Cedar Garden Club, Greene County Treasurer of Garden Club Association, Regional Director of Region 16, Greene County Foundation Auxiliary, Life Member of Ohio Education Association, Life Member of Greene County Retired Teachers, Member of Home Builders, Order of Eastern Star Chapter# 418 and was past matron, Greene County Combined Health District and Life Member of Cedarville Opera House Society.

She is survived by one sister, Josephine B. West of Troy, Ohio, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin C. Bull in 1976.

There will be no visitation, graveside services and burial in North Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Ingling Williams Funeral Home, Cedarville, serving the family.
