Ruthella M. Predmore Sanders

Ruthella M. Predmore Sanders, 89, of Waynesfield, died at 3:35 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, at Lima Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Goshen Township, Hardin County, on March 1,1912, a daughter of the late Lafayette and Lulu King Predmore.

On Nov. 8, 1942, she married E. Russel Sanders in Kenton. Her husband of 59 years survives in Waynesfield.

A 1930 graduate of Kenton High School, she graduated from Otterbein College in 1934 with a bachelor's degree in social work and a minor in music. In 1935, she graduated from the Columbus Business School with an associate degree.

As a homemaker, she worked with her husband on their dairy farm and was a member of the Auglaize County Farm Bureau.

She was a member of the Waynesfield United Methodist Church, where she played piano and organ for more than 50 years and was an active member of the Homebuilders Sunday School class.

Survivors include four sons, Dr. Donald (Dr. Judith) Sanders of Urbana, Joe (Sharon) Sanders of Harrod, Clair (Sue) Sanders of Kenton and Roger (Dee) Sanders of Waynesfield; and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Merrill Predmore.

Mabel Mae Buckenroth

Mabel Mae Buckenroth, 84, of Bellefontaine, died at 6:55 a.m. Saturday, Dec 22, 2001, at Heartland of Bellefontaine.

Born May 19, 1917, in Logan County, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Ethel Keiber Patterson.

On Feb. 5, 1935, in Quincy, she married Robert E. "Buss" Buckenroth. He died April 4, 1981.

A devoted homemaker to her family and friends, she retired after 27 years from the former Bulldog Electric, where she was a welder.

Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Brown and Samantha (Gene) Houchin, both of Naples, Fla., and Nancy "Joey" (George) Rife of Bellefontaine; six grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; nine great-stepgrandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Also surviving are one brother-in-law, Frank Buchenroth of Bellefontaine; and two sisters-in-law, Winnie Patterson and Betty Lord, both of Bellefontaine.

One brother, Ralph Patterson, preceded her in death.

Reberta Elizabeth Hartzler
Reberta Elizabeth Hartzler, 81, of 6555 S. U.S. Route 68, West Liberty, died at 10:55 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001, at the Green Hills Center, West Liberty.

The daughter of the late Welty Renkert and Rachel Stoltzfus Snyder was born June 27, 1920, in Logan County.

She was preceded in death in 1993 by her husband, Harold K. Hartzler. Her stepfather, Elden Snyder, is also deceased.

Survivors include two sons, Gary L. (Valerie) Hartzler of Mechanicsburg and Stanley M. (Diane) Hartzler of Belle Center; one daughter, Anita Kay (Thomas) Singer of Middletown; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A devoted homemaker, she was also employed in the housekeeping department at the Green Hills Center. She was a member of the Oak Grove Mennonite Church.

Darla J. Corwin

Darla J. Corwin, 65, of El Reno, Okla., died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001, in Park View Hospital, El Reno.

She was born in Quincy on July 14, 1936, and lived in Ohio until 1982, when she moved to Oklahoma.

The graduate of Quincy High School also graduated from business college. She was a homemaker and member of the Methodist Church in Ohio.

She is survived by one daughter, Cindy Daniels of El Reno; one son, Anthony S. Corwin of Tampa, Fla.; one brother, Charles Helmandollar of DeGraff; one sister, Virginia Wydra of Sisters, Ore.; nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

June Proctor Bibart

June Proctor Bibart, 79, of Charlotte, N.C., died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001, at her home.

Born on May 14, 1922, in Evart, Mich., she was a daughter of the late Harry and Genevieve McKenzie Proctor.

A registered nurse, she was employed by General Foods Inc. for 10 years before retiring and relocating to Charlotte.

She is survived by her husband, George Bibart; two sons, Robert Bibart of Zanesfield and Dr. Charles Bibart of Kalamazoo, Mich.; one daughter, Mary June Neshat of Charlotte; one brother, Charles Proctor of Mt. Vernon; two sisters, Mary Jo Johnson of Winterhaven, Fla., and Patricia Gray of Greenwood, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mary E. Brown
Mary E. Brown, 69, of 400 Kristina Drive, died at 9:25 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001, at Mary Rutan Hospital.

She was born in Cartersville, Ga., on July 16, 1932, a daughter of the late Joseph Johnson.

She married James C. Brown Sr. and they later divorced.

The homemaker was a member of the New Life Church in Bellefontaine and the Ceramics Club at Shawnee Springs.

She is survived by three sons, James C. Brown Jr. of Bellefontaine, Ernest D. Brown of Kenton and Dane M. Brown of Piqua; one daughter, Laura Jo Higgins of Springfield; one brother, Joseph Johnson II of Sarasota, Fla.; one sister, Pearline Eglar of Bellefontaine; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Gloria Ann Groves
Gloria Ann Groves, 73, of Lakeview, died at 1:28 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001, at Mary Rutan Hospital.

She was born in Lima on Dec. 16, 1928, a daughter of the late Leo and Helen Miller Shook.

On Nov. 1, 1947, she married Robert R. Groves Sr. and he survives.

A homemaker, she also worked as a salesperson for Montgomery Ward and a clerk at Northside Market in Lakeview.

She was a member of the Eagles Lodge 3615 Auxiliary and the Women of the Moose Lodge 1523, both of Lakeview.

She is survived by two sons, Ronnie L. (Vicki) Groves of Lima and Richard "Rick" (Cynthia) Groves of Wapakoneta; one daughter, Diane Lynn Groves of Lakeview; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Carolyn (Phil) Stump of Lima.

She was preceded in death by one son, Robert R. Groves Jr. and one daughter-in-law, Roseann Groves.

Nancy "Nannie" B. Martin
Nancy "Nannie" B. Martin, 85, of 17488 Kandle Road, Marysville, and formerly of Quincy, died at 1:53 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001, surrounded by her family at the home of her granddaughter in Marysville.

A native of Mize, Morgan County, Ky., she was born March 30, 1916, a daughter of Silas Tutlow and Sylvania Nobel Barnett.

She married Scott Daniel Martin on July 6, 1965, in St. Charles, Mo., and he preceded her in death March 28, 1991.

The 40-year resident of Logan County was a homemaker and member of the DeGraff Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons and their spouses, Dale and Linda Adams and Paul and Rosie Adams, all of Xenia, and Donald and Ethel Adams of Oklahoma; one daughter, Margie Paul of Oklahoma; and several grandchildren,
great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, John Bernard Adams; and one son-in-law, Jerry Thomas Paul.

Esther Jane Brown
Our beloved and devoted mother, Esther Jane Teach Brown departed from this earthly walk Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, to be with her heavenly father.

Her death occurred at 9:05 p.m. at The Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus.

Born Aug. 2, 1934, in Salt Fork, Marion County, a daughter of the late Roy and Jennie Hester Tannehill Teach, she married William Strayer Brown on Dec. 26, 1953, in Urbana. He preceded her in death Nov. 15, 1985.

She leaves behind to celebrate her life five daughters and one son, Sheryl Lee (Richard) Virts of Mechanicsburg, Carol Ann (Richard) Barker of Farm City, Ill., Mikela Sue (Loren) Schmidt icon of West Liberty, William Lynn (Kay) Brown of Springfield, Susan Jane (Gary) Spires and Jennifer Ellen McCumber of West Liberty.

She loved 13 grandchildren, Jill (Keith) Kessler, David (Tracey) Virts, Matthew Baker, Nathan (Mary Beth) Baker, Sarah Baker, Fritz Schmidt, Emily Schmidt, Christopher Brown, Thomas Brown, Tyler Spires, Noah Spires, Kyle Knotts and Kacey Knotts; and three great-grandchildren, Tate Virts, Olivia Virts and Dominik Knotts.

She also leaves a brother, Richard Teach; a sister, Mary (Jim) Ludden of Urbana; a special niece, June Ludden of Springfield; and other extended family members.

She retired as an operator from the Champaign Telephone Company.

A 1952 graduate of Urbana High School, she was a former member of the Kingscreek Baptist Church and member of the United Church of Christ in West Liberty and the Missionary Aide Society.

Walter Paul Schindel
Walter Paul Schindel, 79, of Greenville, died at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton.

The Spencerville native was born Feb. 16, 1922, a son of the late Walter C. and Frieda N. Neitermayer Schindel.

A World War II Army Air Corps veteran, he was a retired dairy farmer, having farmed in Darke County as well as Shelby, Allen and Auglaize counties.

On Sept. 21, 1952, he married Marjorie Kuck, who survives along with one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Cindy Schindel of Pleasant Hill; three daughters and sons-in-law, Robyn and Kevin Miller of Bellefontaine, Sheryl and Gerald Simpson of Englewood and Marcia Schindel of Greenville; six grandchildren, Lindsey Schindel, Ryan Simpson, Ashley Schindel, Holli Tilton, Jennifer Miller and Christian Miller.

Other survivors include two brothers, William Schindel of Piqua and Tom Schindel of Canton, Mich.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
