GORDON M. VINSON
Gordon M. "Red" Vinson, 76, Bremen, died Sunday, Dec. 17 at home.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Betty E. Vinson.
A veteran of World War II, he retired from Modiglas Fibers in Bremen.
Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Debbie) McCune of Logan, Janet Rodriguez (and John Zangi) of Groveport, Mrs. Steve (Robin) Rutledge of Jacksonville, Fla., and Mrs. Chuck (Chris) Sutphen of Lancaster; two sons, Robert (Theresa) Vinson and Tim (Ruthann) Vinson, both of Bremen; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Joe Vinson of Alabama; and two sisters, Freddie Hubbard and Nora Clark, both of Alabama.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
The family requests contributions be made to Hospice of Fairfield County.
Arrangements were made by Ohio Cremation and Memorial Society/Rodman Funeral Service, Columbus.

ALICE KEYES MOORE
Alice Keyes Moore, 85, Logan, died Monday, Dec. 18 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital.
Born May 4, 1915, Glouster, daughter of the late Talmadge DeWitt and Blanche Ellis McAfooes, she was the widow of Ralph Moore.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Logan, where she was active in the church choir; a member of Venus Chapter 76 OES, Social Order of the Beauceant, Ladies Oriental Shrine, Royal Arch Widows, White Shrine of Jerusalem and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving are three grandchildren, Randall R. (Rebecca L.) Keyes, Mrs. Larry (Alicia) Tobias and Chad E. (Beverly) Keyes, all of Logan; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Russell (Betty) Tettemer of Logan.
She also was preceded in death by her first husband, Russell Keyes; a son, Robert Keyes; a grandson, Russell Stanley Keyes; and three brothers, William, Charles and Talmadge McAfooes Jr.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, Logan, with the Rev. Larry Hoffmann officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove cemetery.
No calling hours will be observed.
The family suggests contributions be made to First Presbyterian Church, 2 W. Hunter St., Logan, Ohio 43138.
Arrangements were made by Cardaras Funeral Home, Logan.

GARY A. KEACH
Gary A. Keach, 58, Jacksonville, died Tuesday, Dec. 19 at Doctors Hospital, Nelsonville.
Born July 20, 1942, Gilford, N.Y., son of the late Bud and Mary Keach, he was married to Margaret J. Bradshaw Keach of Jacksonville, who survives.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Cardaras Funeral Home, Glouster, with the Rev. Gary Carlson officiating.
Interment will be in Dayton National cemetery where military graveside services will be conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps color guard.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home where VFW services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m by the Jacksonville Post 9866.

CLOYD IVAN COOK
Cloyd Ivan Cook, 99, died Tuesday, Dec. 19 at Laurels of Norworth.
He was a violinist, performing in the Columbus Symphony Orchestra prior to World War II and in the church orchestra for over 60 years. He retired as a piano technician; was a member and past board member of First Church of the Nazarene; and a member of Gideon International. A 1922 graduate of Logan High School, he attended Ohio University.
Surviving are his wife of 77 years, Marie Cook; a son, Ralph F. Cook of West Virginia; five daughters, Ferne Myers of Columbus, Waneta Grossman of Orient, Martha George of Pleasantville, Naomi Cummings of Virginia and Mollie Pool of Florida; 28 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Bishop and Faye Hadley, both of Logan.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. today at the First Church of the Nazarene, 142 King Ave., Columbus, with the Rev. Ernest R. Rhodes officiating.
Interment will be in Union cemetery.
The family suggests contributions be made to First Church of the Nazarene Memorial Fund, 142 King Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43201.

BETTY JEAN CRANE
Betty Jean Crane, 67, Logan, died Thursday, Dec. 21 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital.
Born Aug. 8, 1933, she was the daughter of the late David and Maud Miller Gwilym.
She was a member of the Logan Eagles Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are two sons, Robert L. Phillips of Logan and Dennis E. (Nancy) Phillips Sr. of Rushville; a stepson, Donald Crane Jr. of Columbus; three grandchildren, Karena Phillips, Dennis Phillips Jr. and Michael Bowling; two great-grandchildren, Chadsadie and Kali Phillips; and a sister, Ruth Inglish of Columbus.
She also was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Shots.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. King Kelly officiating.
Burial will be in Knollwood cemetery, Logan.
Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 today at the funeral home.

CHARLES J. BREWSTER
Charles J. Brewster, 89, Logan, died Thursday, Dec. 21 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital.
Born June 10, 1911, Delaware County, son of the late Lee and Esther Belt Brewster, he was married to Charlotte J. Burns Brewster, who survives.
He was a sign painter for 72 years, many of which were spent working for the Certified Oil Company.
Also surviving are two sons, Charles Frederick Brewster of Davenport, Iowa, and Jeffrey Brewster of Logan; a daughter, Mrs. Jeffrey (Jennifer) Bailey of Greenville; four granddaughters, Whitney, Morgan, Jessica and Heather Bailey; a sister, Amy Anderson of Mount Vernon; and seven nieces.
Private funeral services will be held at New Fairview Mausoleum, Rockbridge.
No calling hours will be observed.
Arrangements are by Cardaras Funeral Home, Logan.

JUDITH A. ARLEDGE
Judith A. Seymour Arledge, 45, Laurelville, died Friday, Dec. 22 at Berger Hospital. Born March 19, 1955, daughter of Richard and Betty Disbennett Seymour, she was married to Rocky Arledge, who survives. She was a member of the Saltcreek Community Church and served many as a caregiver. Also surviving are a son, Jeffrey Lee Arledge of Laurelville; Richard (Vickie) Disbennett; a sister, Mrs. Benny (Linda) Morgan of Logan; two brothers, Dave (Debbie) Seymour of Chillicothe and Ron (Andrea) Seymour of Junction City; mother and father-in-law, Glenn and Trudy Arledge of Circleville; brothers-in-law, Charles (Pam) Arledge and Glenn (Beth) Arledge, both of Circleville; sister-in-law, Dianna Clark of Circleville; special friends, Darlene Carlisle of Atlanta, Ga, . and Shirley Stevens of Laurelville; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville. Burial will be in Green Summit cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or Saltcreek Community Church.

WAYNE E. CHAMBERS
Wayne E. Chambers, 84, Rockbridge, died Sunday, Dec. 24 at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster. Born Aug. 20, 1916, Hocking County, son of the late Joseph and Myrtie Stump Chambers, he was married to Elma M. Hoover Chambers, who survives. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Laurel cemetery. Burial will be in Laurel cemetery near Gibisonville. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are by Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home.

ELLA D. DEVOL
Ella D. Devol, 89, Logan, died Saturday, Dec. 23 at Logan Health Care Center. Born Aug. 18, 1911, Gore, daughter of the late Charles and Ada Hite Donaldson, she was the widow of Donald 'Bankshoe' Devol. She retired from Mt. St. Maryıs Hospital in Nelsonville and was employed by the former Clover Farm Store in Carbon Hill. She also was a former member of Rebecca Lodge. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Darl (Donna) Lehman of Haydenville, and Mrs. James (Judy) Amnah of Logan; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford Donaldson; a sister, Myrtle Bell Donaldson; and a son-in-law, Roger Williams. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cardaras Funeral Home, Logan, with the Rev. Paul Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Carbon Hill cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the services Wednesday at the funeral home.

ADA A. SPEARS
Ada A. Spears, 84, Glouster, died Sunday, Dec. 24 at 27 Fairlawn Ave., Glouster. Born July 17, 1916, Athens County, she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Lily Spears Green. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Brown Funeral Home, Murray City. Burial will be in Hilltop cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Wednesday at the funeral home.

JOHN WESLEY TAULBEE
John Wesley Taulbee, 80, Pataskala, died Saturday, Dec. 23 at his residence. Born July 2, 1920, Quicksand, Ky., son of the late Thomas and Paulina Burcham Taulbee; he was married for 59 years to Ruth Schaff Taulbee, who survives. A graduate of Logan High School and Rio Grande College, he served in the Army Air Corps in North Africa and the European Theater of Operations during World War II (1942 to 1944). After the war, he returned home and farmed, while working for Owens Corning, Ful-O-Pep Feeds, Crane Craig and Florey and Jewel Tea Company. After farming fulltime for several years, he taught school for 23 years at Licking Heights and Columbus City schools, retiring in 1984 and continuing to farm. Also surviving are a daughter, Charlotte Jo Schiering of Logan; a son, John DeWeese (Anita Krempel) Taulbee of Fairfield; two grandchildren, Anita Ruthanne Taulbee and John Lawrence Taulbee of Fairfield; three brothers, Eugene, James and Hubert Taulbee; a sister, Mollie Grove; an aunt; an uncle; and many nieces and nephews. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Louis Taulbee; and a sister, Mrs. Henry (Alice) Taulbee. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Warren F. Kauber Funeral Home, Pataskala, with the Rev. Mickey McManus officiating. Interment will be in Kirkersville cemetery. The family suggests contributions be made to The Salvation Army. LLOYD DONALD ANDERSON
Lloyd Donald Anderson, 64, Nelsonville, died Sunday, Dec. 24 at Hickory Creek Nursing Center, The Plains, after an extended illness. Born Sept. 18, 1936, Laurel Township, he was the son of the late Ross J. and Carrie Anne Flowers Anderson. He was a heavy equipment operator. Surviving are two daughters, Deborah Vetsch and Susan Pearson; six sons, Robert Leroy, William Carl, James Bruce, Thomas Bruce, Mark Richard and Gary Anderson, all of the DumDum, Wash. area; a brother, Carl E. Anderson of Rockbridge; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Homer and Ross Anderson; and a sister, Helen Snyder. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Laurel cemetery, near Gibisonville, with the Rev. Homer Morris officiating. Burial will be in Laurel cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home.

HELEN HAWK
Helen F. Hawk, 92, Carbon Hill, died Tuesday, Dec. 26 at Logan Health Care Center. Born Jan. 10, 1908, daughter of the late Frank and Catherine Erb Locke, she was the widow of Fred Hawk. She retired from Keithıs Men Shop, where she was a seamstress. She also was a member of Carbon Hill Methodist Church, where she played the piano for over 50 years. Surviving are a son, Richard Neil of Carbon Hill; a daughter, Mrs. Pete (Barbara) Oblinger of Carbon Hill; eight grandchildren, Fred C. Hawk, Brenda Koon, Jane Hughes, Joan Michael, Beverly Stivison, Brian Hawk, Jill Byler and Jodi Leach; 12 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Edward Dawley of Carbon Hill. She also was preceded in death by a son, Keith Hawk; two sisters, Lena Hawk and Verna Dawley; and two brothers, Buster and Howard Locke. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, Nelsonville, with the Pastor Sharon West officiating. Interment will be in Carbon Hill cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 Thursday at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions be made to Carbon Hill Methodist Church.

TERRY O. TIGNOR
Terry O. Tignor, 82, Nelsonville, died Friday morning, Dec. 22 at Kimes Convalescent Center in Athens. He was born Jan. 11, 1918, in Nelsonville, the son of Joe and Telonia McClurg Tignor. He joins the love of his life, his best friend, with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage before her passing March 9, 1999, wife, Mary Miller Tignor. He was a WWII veteran serving the Army in the Phillipines. He retired from the William Brooks Shoe Co. after 45 years and was custodian for 30 years at the Christian Church in Nelsonville. He loved the water and enjoyed many years with Mary in the boat at Burr Oak and summers in Myrtle Beach. Terry and Mary also had a special relationship with best friends, Don and Jeanne Shafer, spending 45 years going out to eat Friday nights! He had lived at the Lindley Inn at The Plains for 14 months before moving to Kimes Convalescent Center. He was treated with love and kindness at both places and will never forget the wonderful staff. He is survived by daughter, Lois McDonald, and wonderful son-in-law, John McDonald of Nelsonville; and son, Terry Lee of Simi, Calif.; four grandchildren, Doug Tignor, Switzerland, Carla Day, Simi, Calif., Kelli Kirkendall, Austin, Texas and Amy Odenthal, Athens, Texas; eight great-grandchildren, Jessica, Shawn and Tyler Tignor, Nicole Hillier, Forrest Day, Jared and Justin Kirkendall and Micah Odenthal; a sister, JoEileen Samsa, Wickliffe; a special niece and nephew, Phillis and Curt Petersen of Mentor; and special friends, Don and Jeanne Shafer of Nelsonville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; brother, Bob Tignor; sister, Lillian Primmer; and grandson, Joey Tignor. Friends may call Thursday, Dec. 28 at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8. At Mr. Tignorıs request, there will be no service, and cremation will follow visitation. Interment of cremated remains will be held at a later date.

JOHN J. HUFFMAN
John J. "Bill" Huffman, 73, Logan, died Tuesday, Dec. 26 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital.
Born Jan. 12, 1927, Hocking County, son of the late John H. and Clara Eveland Huffman, he was the widower of Betty L. Barringer Huffman, who died December 1994.
Retired after 30 years service from Columbia Gas as a well tender, he was a member of the Redman Lodge of South Bloomingville.
Surviving are a son, John M. (Sally) Huffman of Logan; a daughter, Mrs. Harold "Hoppy" (Linda L.) Hopkins of Logan; grandchildren, Keila Kline, John S. Huffman, Frederick D. Huffman, Peter J. Newland, Erica Ratliff, Jonnie R. Hooks and Michelle McKenzie; four great-grandchildren, Brody Huffman, Mitchell Kline, Jotitia Kline and John M. Huffman; two sisters, Mary Keck of Columbus and Anna Raymond of Laurelville; and a nephew, Dick Huffman.
He also was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kimberly K. Newland; two infant sisters, Daisy and Gladys; three brothers, Johnny, Jake and Buck Huffman; and four sisters, Edna Dennis, Fern Lynn, Kate Harper and Anna Raymond.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Defenbaugh-Wise Funeral Home, Circleville, with Dr. Doyne Wiggins officiating.
Pallbearers will be Darby Huffman, John S. Huffman, Donald Kline, Pete Newland, Jim Hooks and Jeff Horn.
Burial will be in Green Summit cemetery, Adelphi.
Friends may call from 3:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Sunday at the funeral home.
The family suggests contributions be made to the Special Care Unit, Hocking Valley Community Hospital, 601 SR 664 North, Logan, Ohio 43138.
