Shirley A. Schroer
Shirley A. Schroer, 73, of Wapakoneta, died at 4:09 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, at the Lima Memorial Health System.
She was born June 27, 1931, in Logan County, a daughter of the late Emil D. and Juanita McCulloch Strayer.
On Jan. 2, 1975, she married Robert E. "Bob" Schroer, and he survives.
Survivors also include one son, Mike Strayer of Russells Point; one stepson, Richard Schroer of Wapakoneta; four stepdaughters, Vicky Schroer and Mary Schroer, both of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Cathy (Ron) Goff of Terrence Rio Vista, Calif., and Jane Tippie of Wapakoneta; four grandchildren; and one brother, Roger (Robin) Strayer of Sunbury.
A sister, Kara Darlene Strayer, preceded her in death.
She retired in 1994 after 33 years' service with Super Foods Services, Bellefontaine. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Wapakoneta.

Kenneth W. Sweeney
Kenneth W. Sweeney, 82, of Lakeview, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, in his home.
He was born in Dayton on Feb. 17, 1922, a son of the late Kenneth M. and Ella Mullenix Lipton Sweeney. He also was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Paul Sweeney; and a sister-in-law, Dixie Greene.
On Dec. 13, 1945, he married the former Veda Jane Eldridge and she died July 22, 1993.
Survivors include two daughters, Martha Jane (Ronald) York of Sunbright, Tenn., and Cynthia Ann (Steve) McIntire of Bellefontaine; three sons, Andrew C. (Geraldine) Jones of Fairborn, David M. Sweeney of Lakeview and William M. Sweeney of Kettering; two brothers, Frank (Judy) Sweeney of New Carlisle and Fred Sweeney of California; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Marion (John) Taylor of Tipp City and Bonnie Hyton of New Carlisle.
He retired from NCR in Dayton after 30 years of service and Lord Precision in Dayton as an inspector.
A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he sailed aboard the USS Northampton.
He also was a past master of Indian Lake Lodge 722 Free and Accepted Masons.

Ethel E. Forsythe
Ethel E. Forsythe, 62, of 1 Cheshire Drive, Mackinaw, Ill., died at 5:10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at her residence.
She was born in East Liberty on Feb. 20, 1942 a daughter of the late Walter Forsythe and Bertha Peter Forsythe who survives in East Liberty.
Also surviving are two brothers, George (Jeanne) Forsythe of Bellefontaine and Lloyd "Thomas" (Betty) Forsythe of East Liberty; and a friend, Mary Ann Canty, with whom she made her home.
For 35 years, she was a math and computer science teacher at Bergan and Peoria Notre Dame High School for 35 years, last working in December.
A graduate of Miami of Ohio at Oxford, she received her master's degree from the University of Illinois.
The Rev. Charles Klamut, Peoria Notre Dame Chaplain, conducts a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Peoria. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary in Peoria and one half hour prior to Mass. Burial in nearby Resurrection Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Msgr. Livingston Fund at Peoria Notre Dame High School.

Leonard 'Len' W. McGee
Leonard "Len" W. McGee, 61, of Bellefontaine, went to be with the Lord at 1:35 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus.
He was born in Bellefontaine on Sept. 9, 1943, a son of the late Woodrow Wilson and Mabel Leona Miller McGee. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Ernest McGee; and a grandson, Chad Bryant Reprogle.
On June 30, 1962, he married the former Sandra Juanita Legge in Quincy and she survives, along with four daughters, Tamara Kay (John) Ray of West Mansfield, Melissa Jo (Alan) Williams of Piqua, and Sheila Christine (Bill) Fergeson and DeAnna Lynne (Shawn) VanHoose, both of Bellefontaine; three sisters, Kathleen Tackett and Phyllis (Gerald) Predmore, both of Bellefontaine, and Janet (Jerry) Predmore of Belle Center; nine grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.
In 1996, he retired from Hi-Point Beef after 34 years of service.
A member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 2166, he was an avid NASCAR fan and collected Orange County motorcycles.
The Rev. A.W. Purdin conducts a funeral service at 10 a.m. Monday at Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, where calling is from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Interment is in Highland Memorial Cemetery in West Liberty.
Memorial contributions may be made to Tricare Hospice and the American Cancer Society.

Fred M. McKenzie
Fred M. McKenzie, 80, of Russells Point, passed away at 2:34 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at Mary Rutan Hospital.
He was born in Mt. Vernon on Aug. 9, 1924, a son of the late John and Essie Norris McKenzie.
On July 20, 1963, he married the former Sylvia R. Fletcher and she died May 16, 1998. He also was preceded in death by two sisters.
Survivors include a stepson, Charles "Chuck" (Chris) Weirick of Lakeview; two stepgrandchildren, DeShawn Weirick of Toledo and Chad Weirick of Columbus; and one great-great-stepgrandson, Kaleb.
He was a chef in the Indian Lake area for many years and also worked at General Motors in Mansfield.
At his request, the body was cremated. A memorial service and burial is in Dayton National Cemetery in Dayton at a later date.

Geneva G. Rutherford
Former Belle Center resident Geneva G. Rutherford, 89, died unexpectedly Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, in Pittsburgh.
After retiring as an elementary school teacher at Belle Center Local Schools, she was an active volunteer in her church and community.
Survivors include daughters, Melba G. (Wayne) De Goines of Rexford, Mont., and Rose R. (William S.) Weir of Pittsburgh; and two grandchildren, Jennifer Rose Weir of Washington, D.C., and Natalie Grace Weir of Pittsburgh.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Melville Rutherford.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Belle Center. The Rev. Philip Pockras conducts a funeral service at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Belle Center Reformed Presbyterian Church. Interment is at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Northwood Cemetery.

Alice Pauline Hinkle
Alice Pauline Hinkle, 85, of West Liberty, died at 1:20 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2004, at Mary Rutan Hospital.
Born May 18, 1919, in Oak Hill, Jackson County, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Mayme Louella Phillips Dalton.
Her husband, William F. Hinkle, preceded her in death on Aug. 9, 1964.
Survivors include one daughter, Janet Kauffman Devine of West Liberty; one son, Jim (Sue) Hinkle of Upper Sandusky; two brothers, William Dalton of West Liberty and Bob (Wilma) Dalton of Kettering; one sister, Ruth Hale of Bay Village; six grandchildren, J. Brent (Danna) Kauffman; Craig Kauffman, Liesl (Howard) Wilkins, Shawn (Chuck) Pahl, Lisa (Bob Long) Clements and Laura (Scott) Morris; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded her in death by three brothers, Emery, Daniel and Glen Dalton; two sisters, Edna Waller and Mae Ladd; and one grandson, Kent Kauffman.
A homemaker, she was a former employee of Kelsey-Hayes in Springfield and Figley Drugs in West Liberty.
The funeral begins at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Kauffman-Eichholtz Funeral Home, West Liberty, with the Rev. Ned A. Michael officiating.
Burial with a graveside service follows at 11:30 a.m. in New Carlisle Cemetery, New Carlisle.
Calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the West Liberty Church of Christ and Green Hills Care Center.

Paula Ann Ruder Marsh
Paula Ann Ruder Marsh, 43, of Raymond, died unexpectedly Saturday, April 2, 2005, at Memorial Hospital of Union County, Marysville.
A homemaker, she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She enjoyed her cats and antiques and was a supporter of the Union County Humane Society.
She was born July 19, 1961, in Columbus, and was preceded in death by her father, Paul Ruder.
Survivors include her mother, Viola Tillis Ruder of Raymond; husband of 15 years, Ronald L. Marsh of Raymond; one son, Brett (Jessica) Conley of Raymond; one daughter, Jennifer Conley and her fiance Malvin Kabua, both of Quincy; four grandchildren, Destiny, Hayden, Cierra and Karlee; two sisters, Kim (Bruce) Hagens of Russells Point and Susan (Michael) Callahan of Richwood; one sister-in-law, Rhonda Marsh of Kenton; mother-in-law, Helen Worthington of Kenton; and many other relatives and friends.
The funeral is at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Underwood Funeral Home, Marysville, where calling begins at 4 p.m. The Rev. Peter Miller officiates and the graveside service is at noon Wednesday in Raymond Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Paula Marsh Memorial Fund in care of the family.

Marshall Fairbanks McIntire
Marshall Fairbanks McIntire, 85, formerly of Carysville, passed away at 10:45 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2005, at the Vandalia Park Nursing Home, Vandalia.
He was born in Champaign County on June 1, 1919, a son of the late George and Lulu Brooks McIntire.
A 1937 graduate of Rosewood High School, he served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a former employee of Kaffenbarger Welding, New Carlisle.
Survivors include one son, Mark McIntire of Lewistown; two sisters, Melva Curl of Sidney and Zelda Peters of Shippensburg, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
Also preceding him in death were one brother, Woodrow McIntire; and two sisters, Wanna Taylor and Georgia McIntire.
Graveside service is at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Rosedale Cemetery along north State Route 235, near Carysville, with Pastor Steve Daniels of the Railroad Street Church of God officiating.
No visitation is planned.
Arrangements through the Richeson-Wickham and Atkins Funeral Home, St. Paris.
Burial is in Highland Memorial Cemetery, West Liberty.

Carroll E. 'Lou' Lewis
Carroll E. "Lou" Lewis, of Napoleon, died of cancer at 8:25 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005, in his residence.
He was born in Galion on March 17, 1944, a son of the late Richard M. and Eva Wilkinson Lewis.
A 1963 graduate of Logan Hills High School, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from May 1964 to May 1966.
Survivors include former wife, Judy Topping Lewis of Lima; daughters, Sandra (Ray) Eickholt of Rembrant, Iowa, and Debra Bellomy and Jennifer (Jon) Gary, both of Lima; six grandchildren, Cassandra, Donald, Justin, Lindsay, Joshua and Alexa; and several stepgrandchildren and great-stepgrandchildren.
In addition to working 20 years for Sprint/United Telephone, he worked at Henkel and McCoy Inc. and Town & Country Industries.
Interment was Aug. 8 in Memorial Park Mausoleum in Lima, with military rites by the Lima VFW Post 1275.

Clements "Clem" Butts
Clements "Clem" Butts, 96, formerly of Quincy, died at 8 p.m. Friday, July 26, 2002, at the Fair Haven Shelby County Home in Sidney.
A son of the late Harrison and Kiturah Clements Butts, he was born Aug. 29, 1905, in Logan County.
He married Winona L. Cummings in Bellefontaine on Aug. 20, 1927. She died March 22, 1994.
A farmer and non-denominational Christian, he was preceded in death by one son, James Butts; two brothers, Jay and Cecil Butts; and two sisters, Vera Butts and Mabel Whitney, also preceded him in death.
He is survived by a daughter-in-law, Lois Butts of Gold Hill, Ore.; two grandchildren, Cynthia (Gary) Hoekstra of Wittenberg, Wis., and Carolyn (Wade) Frank of Cincinnati; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
