USA High School Yearbooks by State and County

ROBERT SAVING
Robert Saving, 74, Piscataway, N.J., formerly of Logan, died Sunday, Jan. 16.
A 1943 Logan High School graduate, he was a graduate of Ohio State University and a World War II veteran. He retired from Royal Dalton China.
Surviving are his wife, Janet; two stepchildren; four children; grandchildren; and two brothers, Wally and John Saving, both of Logan.
Memorial services will be held in Piscataway, N.J.

CHARLES SLACK
Charles E. Slack, 69, died Friday, Jan. 14 in Point Pleasant, W.Va.
Born in Westerville, he was a former resident of Logan.
Surviving are two sons, Randy and Jeff; two daughters, Mrs. Gene (Debbie) Spears and Carla Slack; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Mike; two brothers; and his parents.
No calling hours will be observed. Cremation has taken place.
The family suggests contributions be made to Hospice.

BETTY STEELE
Betty A. Steele, 70, Logan, died Tuesday, Jan. 18 at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster.
Born April 26, 1929, Orland, she was the daughter of the late James Alva and Ethel Pearl McWilliams Steele.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. William (Norma Jean) Oney of Plain City and Mrs. Jerry (Ellen Sue) Linton of Logan; nieces; nephews; and a special cousin, Dale McWilliams.
She also was preceded in death by a brother, Larry James Linton.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Sharon West officiating.
Burial will be in Smith Chapel cemetery.
Friends may call 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 Thursday at the funeral home.

ROBERT CARTER
Robert H. Carter, 80, Glouster, died Tuesday, Jan. 18 at Pine Hills Continuing Care Center, Nelsonville.
Born Nov. 8, 1919, Glouster, son of the late George and Nellie McBride Carter, he was the widower of Alberta H. Vermillion Carter.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Glouster.
Interment will be in Queen of Heaven cemetery, Trimble.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 Friday at Cardaras Funeral Home, Glouster.

MARY COUCH
Mary M. Couch, 77, Sugar Grove, died Tuesday, Jan. 18 at Rockmill Rehabilitation Centre, Lancaster.
Daughter of the late George and Jesse Daubenmire, she was married for 59 years to James E. Couch, who survives.
She retired after 25 years of service from Ray-O-Vac. She was a member of Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, Sugar Grove Senior Citizens, Sugar Grove Extension Group and Olivedale Senior Citizens Center.
Also surviving are three sons, Keith (Margaret) Couch of Baltimore, Stephen (Laura) Couch of Sugar Grove and Michael (Patricia) Couch of Lockbourne; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Loy (Ruth) Daubenmire of Logan; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Daubenmire of Logan; and several nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Daubenmire, and a sister, Esther Casto.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Frank E. Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Lancaster, with the Revs. Jim Corbitt and Donald Cummans officiating.
Burial will be in Fairview cemetery, Rockbridge.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 Friday at the funeral home.
The family suggests contributions be made to Sugar Grove United Methodist Church in her memory.

RAYMOND SWAIM
Raymond E. Swaim, 61, Haydenville, died Wednesday, Jan. 19 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital.
Born April 20, 1938, Haydenville, son of the late Kermit and Glennus Pinkleton Swaim, he was married to Beverly Breeze Swaim, who survives.
A U.S. Navy veteran, he was a retired heavy equipment operator from Maxville Stone.
Also surviving are three sons, Robert (Pamela) Swaim of Nelsonville, Steven (Constance) Swaim of Dundas and Alan (Jennifer) Swaim of Logan; a daughter, Mrs. Mike (Serena) McCollum of Nelsonville; 11 grandchildren; and a brother, Graham Swaim of Logan.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Cardaras Funeral Home, Logan, with the Rev. James Mathias officiating.
Interment will be in New Fairview Memorial Gardens, Rockbridge.
Military graveside services will be conducted by Hocking County Combined Color Guard Unit.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 Friday at the funeral home.

LOUISE FIERBAUGH
Louise B. Fierbaugh, 86, died Tuesday, Jan. 18 at Ohio State University Medical Center.
She was the widow of Lawrence V. Fierbaugh.
Surviving are a daughter, Nina Vanderkamp; a son, Larry Fierbaugh; grandchildren, Kristel Fierbaugh, Scott Fulton and Darrell and Brant Moore; and a sister, Eileen Kline.
She also was preceded in death by a son, D. Klyde Moore.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Shaw-Davis Funeral Home Victorian Village Chapel, 34 W. Second Ave., Columbus, with the Rev. Brian Green officiating.
Interment will be in Glen Rest Memorial Estate.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

RALPH WYCKOFF JR.
Ralph Wyckoff Jr., 59, Logan, died Thursday, Jan. 20 at the home of his parents.
Born March 21, 1940, Hocking County, he was the son of Ralph and Georgia Hicks Wyckoff Sr.
He was head mechanic for Brass Ring Golf Course. He was a 38-year member of Logan Eagles and a 15-year member of Logan Moose.
Also surviving are three sons, Joseph Allen (Sandy) Wyckoff of Logan, Clark Wyckoff of Logan and Martin "Punky" Wyckoff of Rockbridge; two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Mary Ann) Cramer of Logan and Mrs. Fred (Roxan) Miller of Justin, Texas; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Gary Wyckoff of Logan and Ronnie (Marty) Wyckoff of Goshen, Ind.; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Marvennia) Kull of Sugar Grove; and a special friend, Judy Joy of Logan.
He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Collena Wyckoff.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home with the Revs. Betty Brooks and Marty Wyckoff and Mr. Ronnie Wyckoff officiating.
Burial will be in Smith Chapel cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Saturday at the funeral home.
Eagle memorial services will be held 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Family and friends are invited to the Goodyear Union Hall following the service on Sunday.
The family suggests contributions be made to Hospice of Fairfield County, 1111 E. Main St., Lancaster, Ohio 43130-4099.

STEPHEN COOPER
Stephen Edwin Cooper, 52, Logan, died Friday, Jan. 21 at Mount Carmel West Hospital, Columbus.
Born Dec. 31, 1947, Logan, he was the son of Edna Gertrude Danison Cooper of Logan and the late Homer Cooper.
Also surviving are two sons, Jeff and Todd Cooper, both of Logan; a daughter, Mrs. Craig (Melissa) Davis of Logan; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cardaras Funeral Home, Logan, with the Rev. King Kelly officiating.
Interment will be in Oak Grove cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

SYLVESTER McGATHEY
Sylvester W. McGathey, 94, Columbus, died Thursday, Jan. 20.
He was the son of the late Asbury and Viola McGathey.
He was a member of United Methodist Church in New Plymouth.
Surviving are nieces and nephews, Mrs. George (Marvel) Anderson of Racine and Mrs. Orville (Etta) Jones, Caroline Nance and Charlene Barnhart, all of Columbus, Dorothy Miller and Robert (Wilma) Steele of Dayton and Doris Anderson of Largo, Fla.; and several wonderful neighbors, relatives and friends.
He also was preceded in death by four sisters, Pansy, Fern, Violet and Olive, with whom he made his home with for many years.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. at O.R. Woodyard Co. Chapel, 1346 S. High St., Columbus, with the Rev. Billy Sharpston officiating.
Burial will be in New Plymouth cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 Sunday at the funeral home.

ADAH NORRIS
Adah Marie Norris, 84, Nelsonville, died Thursday, Jan. 20 at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster, after a brief illness.
Born Nov. 16, 1915, Scioto Furnace, daughter of the late Oscar and Dora Cramer Bussey, she was the widow of Frederick W. Norris, who died Feb. 1, 1968.
A retired office employee of Brooks Shoe Factory, she was a longtime and active member of the Wesleyan Church of Nelsonville, serving as a longtime member of the local board of administration of the church.
She also was a Sunday School treasurer for 25 years and a member of Ladies Venice Sunday School class. She was an avid walker for several years. Adah and her friend, Wanda Sabo, walked nearly two miles every day. She also was active in sewing and crocheting. She was a 1934 Nelsonville High School graduate.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. David (Sharlene K.) Brown of Logan; a son, David F. (Leah) Norris of Murray City; four grandsons, Greg K. Brown of Logan, Jeff P. (Carrie) Brown of Dayton, Matthew J. Brown of Columbus and Daniel J. Norris of Murray City; three granddaughters, Mrs. Tyler (Serena J.) Wolfe of Athens and Michelle P. and Brandi R. Norris, both of Murray City; two great-grandchildren, Caitlin and Parker Brown of Dayton; a sister, Elberta Marshall of Logan; three brothers-in-law, Joe Majercak of Dayton, Stanley Norris of Indianapolis and Bill Sparks of Logan; a sister-in-law, Kathleen Hettler of Fergus Falls, Minn.: and several nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Thomas E. Bussey; and two sisters, Mildred Barrows and Annabelle Majercak.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Warren-Brown Funeral Home, Nelsonville, with the Rev. Michael Thomas officiating.
Burial will be in Knollwood cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 Sunday and Monday at the funeral home.
