CARROLL GILLESPIE
Carroll L. Gillespie, 58, Haydenville, died Wednesday, July 19 at Arthur James Cancer Hospital in Columbus.
Born April 18, 1942, Holly Grey, W.Va., he was the son of the late James Harrison and Mary Magalene Hamner Gillespie.
He was retired from Hocking Valley Industries and Harry Wolsky Stair Builders, both of Logan and attended Enterprise United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Dianna L. Gillespie Rinehart of Logan and Belinda S. Gillespie Williams of Grove City; three grandchildren who were the love of his life, Charles W. "Billy" Rinehart III, Kristen Nicole Rinehart and Samantha Ann Williams; six brothers, Harold Gillespie of Baltimore, Dairl Gillespie of Grove City, Charles Gillespie and Dale Gillespie, both of New Straitsville, and Ronald Gillespie and Larry Gillespie, both of Logan; and two sisters, Ella Jackson of Gibisonville and Deanna Roush of Gore.
He also was preceded in death by one brother, Lawrence Gillespie.
Those who knew him will cherish so many wonderful memories, and those who did not know him will miss one of the most wonderful men God ever put among us in our lifetime. He will always be loved and remembered by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Cardaras Funeral Home, Logan.
Burial will be in Knollwood cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 Saturday at the funeral home.

MARGARET KISTLER
Margaret Lucille Kistler, 97, Logan, died Thursday, July 20 at the Main Street Terrace Care Center in Lancaster after a brief illness.
Born Feb. 11, 1903, Logan, daughter of the later Walter Earl and Elsie May Glass Columber, she was the widow of Chandos Elwood Kistler who died in 1982.
A homemaker and a former bookkeeper for Logan Clay Products Company and the International Carbon and Ribbon Company of Logan, she was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Logan Homemakers Club, Daughters of America Council 120, Degree of Pocahontas Council 58, Women's Relief Corps 326, Logan Women of the Moose 997, Logan Ladies Auxiliary 6430 VFW, Logan American Legion Auxiliary 78 and the Hospital Twig III.
Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Gladys Irene "Mutt" Schorr of Logan; a sister-in-law, Audrey Beatrice Columber of Logan; four grandchildren, Mrs. Ron (Tanya) Beck, Bob (Connie) Burton, and Mike (Paulette) Hartman, all of Logan and Mrs. John (Cindy Hartman) Winnenberg of Corning; seven great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Florence Mildred "Min" Hartman; two brothers, Howard Earl "Tudy" and John Lester Columber; and a sister, Helen Louise Culp.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Roberts Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert E. Dauber officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 Sunday at the funeral home.

DOLLY KLEINSCHMIDT
Dolly Ann Kleinschmidt, 92, Logan, died Wednesday, July 19 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital.
Born May 15, 1908, Charleston, W.Va., daughter of the late Edward and Kathryn Hoylman Higginbotham, she was the widow of Robert C. Kleinschmidt who died Nov. 3, 1964.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Logan and a longtime Sunday School secretary, a member of the Hocking Valley White Shrine of Jerusalem 51, where she served as worthy treasurer for many years. She also was the recipient of the First Miriam Award from the Hocking Valley White Shrine and a member of the OES of Racine. She was a longtime member and well-known for her volunteer service with the Hocking Valley Community Hospital Auxiliary, a member of the Hospital Auxiliary Twig II, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was honored to serve as Grand Marshall of the Christmas Parade.
Surviving are one son, Robert F. Kleinschmidt of Galveston, Texas; one granddaughter; one niece; and two nephews.
She also was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Gregory Magruder officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
The family suggests contributions be made to the Hocking Valley Community Hospital Foundation, 61 N. Market St., Suite 220, Logan, Ohio 43138 or to the First Baptist Church, 399 Norwood Ave., Logan, Ohio 43138.

HOWARD ALLEN LATHROPE
Howard Allen Lathrope, 89, Logan, formerly of Lafayette, N.J., died Thursday, July 20 at his residence after an extended illness.
Born Aug. 14, 1910, New York, he was the son of the late Frederick Nolan and Elizabeth Chadwich (Gordon) Lathrope.
A World War II Navy veteran, he was a retired grader in the garment industry in New York City, a member of the VFW in Lafayette, N.J., attended Immanuel United Methodist Church and attended and belonged to several senior citizens centers.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Richard (Merry Claire) Peterson of Logan, Mrs. Ralph (Allene E.) Brown of Wanaque, N.J., and Mrs. David (Karen P.) Griese of Sayville, N.Y.; two grandsons, David H. and Mark Griese, both of Sayville; and one brother, Donald Lathrope of Downers Grove, Ill.
He also was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family.
No calling hours will be observed.
Arrangements were made by Roberts Funeral Home, Logan.

JAMES ROBERT FIELDS
James Robert "Shimpy" Fields, 39, Nelsonville, died unexpectedly Thursday, July 20 at his residence.
Born Jan. 7, 1961, Nelsonville, he was the son of the late Donna Martin Courtney and Ronnie Courtney of Nelsonville, who survives.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are by Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, Nelsonville.

VIVIAN J. BRYAN
Vivian J. Bryan, 93, Canton, formerly of Union Furnace, died Friday, July 28 at Doctors Hospital in Massillon. She had been in Country Lawn Nursing Home for the past five years.
Born Sept. 18, 1906, Starr, daughter of the late Homer and Lillian Weaver Cruise, she was the widow of Everett W. Bryan, who died Dec. 11, 1986.
A member of Asbury United Methodist Church, she lived the greater portion of her life in Starr and Union Furnace.
Surviving are a son, Harold H. (Shirley) Bryan of Mogadore; a daughter, Mrs. Dale D. (Evelyn) Parsons of Canton; three brothers, Ernest Cruise of Fla., Homer Cruise of Mogadore and William Cruise of Uniontown; two sisters, Hazel Lancaster and Blanche Cain, both of Mogadore; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by six brothers, Vernon, Clifford, Alva, Grover, Raymond, and Isaac Cruise.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Cardaras Funeral Home, Logan, with the Rev. Rodney Rogers officiating.
Interment will be in Starr cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

CHARLES BRYANT
Charles A. Bryant, 68, Newark, died Friday, July 28 at his residence.
Born Nov. 20, 1931, Paintsville, Ky., son of the late Charlie and Hazel Lyons Bryant, he was the widower of Shirley Fogle Bryant.
Surviving are three sons, Chuck (Carla) Bryant and John (Stacy) Bryant, both of Logan, and Rick (Janet) Anthony of Hebron; a brother, Ed (Judy) Bryant of Pickerington; a sister, Mrs. Dick (Alice) Hartman of Logan; six grandchildren; and special friend, Eileen Kellett.
Retired from Rockwell as an electrician, he was a member of the Moose Lodge, Eagles, Druids, American Legion Utica, Masonic Lodge in Logan and AMVETS, and was in the Korean Conflict in the Air Force.
He also was preceded in death by a sister, Charla Mae Turner, who died in 1986.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 North Twenty St., Newark, with the Rev. Gary Boggs officiating.
Burial will be in Fairmount cemetery.
Military services will be conducted at the graveside by Licking County Veterans Alliance.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 today at the funeral home.

ETHYL HAGENSON
Ethyl Suanne Snyder Hagenson, 67, Manistque, Mich., died Friday, July 28 at the VA Medical Center, Iron Mountain, Mich. Born March 3, 1933, Logan, she was the daughter of the late Edward Oney and Ruth Jewell Snyder.
Surviving are three sons, Nelms and Phillip Hagenson of Manistque, Mich. and Preston Hagenson of Flint, Mich.; two daughters, Mary Hagenson of Manistque, Mich. and Mrs. Dennis (Cynthia) Chapman of MacClean, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; former husband, Leonard Hagenson of Manistque, Mich.; and a sister, Mrs. Edward (Londa) Bosworth of Ocala, Fla.
She also was preceded in death by seven sisters, Charlene Becker, Norma Nixon Conley, Lois "Billie" Voakes, Barbara Snyder, Patricia Kinnison, Mary Lou Snyder and Frances Carey; and three infant brothers.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the Combined Veterans Organizations of Hocking County.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

HILDA F. HARTMAN
Hilda F. Hartman, 92, Columbus, formerly of Logan, died Friday, July 28 at her residence.
Born Aug. 1, 1907, Hocking County, daughter of the late Vinton A. and Margaret Mae Blosser Carpenter, she was the widow of George F. Hartman, who died Jan. 5, 1992.
She was a former member of Kline Memorial United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a son, Richard E. Hartman of Logan; a daughter, Mrs. James (Mary Lou) Walsh of Logan; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She also was preceded in death by a son, Robert L. Hartman; six brothers, Harold, Olin, Eugene, Oliver, Edwin and Dwight Carpenter; a son-in-law, James R. Walsh; and a great-granddaughter, Erica Walsh.
Funeral services were held 10 a.m. today in New Fairview Mausoleum with the Rev. Rob Dauber officiating.
Entombment was in New Fairview Mausoleum.
Arrangements were by Cardaras Funeral Home, Logan.

MARJORIE L. ILES
Marjorie L. "Dee" Iles, 83, Bradenton, Fla., died Wed., July 26 at her home.
Born Sept. 10, 1916, Nelsonville, daughter of the late Thomas W. and Wilma Wade Matthewson, she was the widow of Otto M. "Dude" Iles.
A member of the First Presbyterian Church of Nelsonville, Eastern Star and Business and Professional Women's Club, she was a 1934 graduate of Nelsonville High School, and Bliss Business College in Columbus. She retired from Ohio University Library in 1978.
Surviving are two sons, Dr. Thomas (Ruth) Iles of Lewisburg, W.Va, . and Jerry (Teresa) Iles of Athens; two daughters, Carolyn Iles of Bradenton and Mrs. Tim (Victoria) Creighton of Sarasota, Fla.; six grandchildren, Matthew Iles of Columbus, Trent Iles of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Mallory Iles of Lewisburg, W.Va., Mrs. Brian (Kimberly) Conroy of Miramar, Fla. and Lauren and Alex Creighton of Sarasota, Fla.; a great-granddaughter, McKenna Conroy of Miramar, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Alice Struble of Pomeroy; and many nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by a sister, Dr. Ruth E. Matthewson.
Interment was today in Manasota Memorial Park, Bradenton, Fla.
