Thomas J. Schrader
Thomas Junior Schrader, 77, of Medina, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001, at Fairview Hospital after a sudden illness.

He was born Dec. 20, 1924, in Webster County, W.Va., and was a Medina resident for seven years, previously living in Brunswick for 33 years. Mr. Schrader was a member of UAW Local 1250. He enjoyed gardening, bluegrass music, hunting, woodworking, metalworking and handiwork. He was employed as a machine operator at General Motors, from where he retired in 1986 after 30 years of service. Mr. Schrader served in the Navy during World War II.

He is survived by his spouse, Opal Schrader (nee Brown) of Medina; son, Glenn E. (Cora) Schrader of Wellesley, Mass.; daughter, Donna J. Schrader Fonner of Seville; sister, Mildred (Lloyd) Clevenger of New Middletown, Ohio; granddaughters, Rebecca and Michelle Fonner; and grandson, Benjamin Schrader.

He was preceded in death by his son, Michael R.; mother, Delila Schrader; granddaughter, Patricia Fonner; sisters, Golda Cool, Jewell Stone and Hertha Rutherford; and brother, Orval Hall.

Service: 2 p.m. today at Carlson, A Golden Rule Funeral Home, 1642 Pearl Road (one-half mile south of state Route 303), Brunswick.

Interment: Myrtle Hill Cemetery, Liverpool Township.

Carroll D. Diehl
Carroll D. Diehl passed away peacefully Sunday, Dec. 23, 2001.

He was born in Mount Vernon, Ohio, and was a resident of Medina for the past 25 years. He retired from the FAA Cleveland office in 1985 as a safety/maintenance inspector with a total of 14 years of service. He was a member of the Ohio Air National Guard 164th Fighter Squadron in Mansfield from 1948 to 1952 and of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Mr. Diehl served in the Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1945 in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater.

He is survived by his wife, Louise (nee Smith); daughters, Diane (David) Cartwright of Big Bear Lake, Calif., and Pat (Carl) Ritterspach and Carman (Ken) Young, both of Medina; son, Stephen Diehl of New York City; grandchildren, David Jr., Michael and Stephanie Cartwright, Zachary, Rebecca and Adam Ritterspach, and Jourdan and Kurt Young; and brothers, Merrill of Green Valley, Ariz., and Clyde of Mount Vernon.

Service: 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 606 E. Washington St., Medina. Father Stephen Kaminski will officiate.

Burial: St. Francis Cemetery.

Visiting hours: 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Waite & Son Funeral Homes, Medina Chapel, 765 N. Court St.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

Laura A. Lance
Laura A. "Ann" Lance, 79, of Westfield Township, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, at Samaritan Care Center in Medina.

She was born April 15, 1922, in Westfield Township to Darwin and Laura (Wright) McDermott. Mrs. Lance graduated from LeRoy High School in 1942. She worked at the Permold Co. from 1942 to 1947, then worked for Westfield Cos. for 24 years, retiring in 1987. She loved gardening and flowers.

Mrs. Lance is survived by her brother, Charles (Lois) McDermott of Westfield Center; many nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Mary Young.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William, whom she married March 27, 1946; parents; sister, Bessie Sprankle; and brothers, Blake, Clair and Harley McDermott.

Service: 11 a.m. Saturday at Roberts Funeral Home, Hillcrest Chapel, 9560 Acme Road, Wadsworth.

Burial: Westfield Cemetery.

Visiting hours: 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Ethel McGlocklin
Ethel Routh McGlocklin, 77, of Victoria, Va., formerly of Chilhowie, Va., passed away Monday, Dec. 24, 2001.

She is survived by her sons, William P. McGlocklin of Cincinnati, Alfred L. (Jean) McGlocklin of Berea, Allen (Christine) McGlocklin of Medina; daughters, Janie M. Chapman of Victoria, Linda M. (Paul) Sheridan of Brunswick, Angela M. (Bob) Lezark of Cleveland; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Myrtle R. McNew of Chilhowie, Thelma R. Wise of Chesapeake, Va., Imogene Osborne and Jane R. Poore of Saltville; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" McGlocklin; grandson, Joshua Sheridan; brother, Ralph Routh; and sister, Hazel R. Marshall.

Graveside service: 11 a.m. today at Glade Springs Presbyterian Church, Glade Springs, Va.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Memorial Hospice Program, P.O. Box 90, South Hill, VA 23970, or to Brunswick United Methodist Church Joshua Sheridan Scholarship Fund, Brunswick, 44212.

The D.R. Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville, Va., is in charge of arrangements.

Carlos E. Ortiz
Carlos E. Ortiz, 58, of Litchfield Township passed away Sunday, Dec. 23, 2001, at Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service.

He was born in Cuenca, Ecuador. A Fulbright Scholar, he earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Colorado and a master's degree in polymer science from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He was the director of worldwide research and development for the powder coatings division of the Ferro Corp. He retired from the Glidden Corp. after 25 years.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian (nee Ayala); son, David (Sally) Ortiz of Chicago; daughter, Christine (Brian) Foster of North Royalton; parents, Alejandro and Julia Ortiz of Cuenca; granddaughter, Alyssa Foster; sister, Cecilia (Francisco) Ruales of Cuenca; brother, Alejo (Dora) Ortiz of Cuenca; sister-in-law, Laura Ortiz of Cuenca; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Rodrigo.

Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Martin's Catholic Church, 1824 Station Road, Valley City. Father Thomas Dunphy will officiate.

Burial: St. Martin's Cemetery.

Visiting hours: 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Waite & Son Funeral Homes, Medina Chapel, 765 N. Court St.

Rosemary Phillips
Rosemary Phillips, 72, of Medina, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, at Medina General Hospital.

She was born Oct. 28, 1929, in Weymouth and was a lifetime resident of Medina County. She was a homemaker and was employed as a licensed practical nurse at Medina General.

Mrs. Phillips is survived by her husband, Herbert D. Phillips of Medina; son, Wayne D. (Bonnie) Phillips of Medina; daughters, Gail J. Phillips and Karen (Gordon) Stallings, both of Medina; sister, Rachel Mumaw of Columbus; grandchildren, Joshua (Melanie) and Nathan Stallings and Wayne Jr. (Kyle) and Heather Phillips; great-grandchildren, Cory Stallings, Gage Depew and Kirsten Phillips; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Janice Hartman and Norma Caris, and brothers, Waren and Lyle Caris.

Private family services will be held.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Medina County, 797 N. Court St., Medina, 44256.

Waite & Son Funeral Homes, Medina Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.

Nelson E. Reisinger
Nelson E. Reisinger, 79, of Grafton, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at EMH Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

Mr. Reisinger was born Aug. 7, 1922, in Eaton Township and was a lifelong Grafton area resident. He was employed in the maintenance department at Timm Spring Co. in Elyria for 40 years. He retired in 1986. He was a World War II Army veteran and member of American Legion Post 12 in Elyria. He enjoyed collecting John Deere tractors, gardening and playing golf and pool.

Survivors include his daughter, Janice Plas of Lagrange; stepdaughter, Pat McGhee of Wisconsin; stepson, Ed Dussel of Grafton; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sisters, June Charters of Medina, Mae Drage of Lorain and Dorothy Reynolds of Wellington; brothers, Alvin Reisinger of Wooster and Richard Reisinger of Litchfield Township.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion (nee Rising), in 1986; son, David Reisinger, in 1997; sister, Helen Reisinger, in 1939; and brother, Warren Reisinger, in 1999.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road at state Route 57, Elyria.

Burial: Nesbett Cemetery, Grafton Township.

Visiting hours: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Doris M. Thailing
Doris M. Thailing, 65, of St. Petersburg, Fla., passed away Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001, at her residence under the care of Hospice of the Florida Suncoast.

She was born in Cleveland and moved to St. Petersburg in 1985 from Brunswick, where she was a caterer. She was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church in St. Petersburg.

She is survived by her three sons, Daryl W. Thailing of Venice, Fla., Dale A. Thailing of Warren and David J. Thailing of Aurora, Colo.; daughter, Denise Arsenault of St. Petersburg; three brothers; three sisters; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by E. Dale Gunter Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 4100 Sixteenth St. North, St. Petersburg.

Thomas D. White III
Thomas David White III, 31, of Malvern, Pa., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, at Paoli Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Bryn Mawr, Pa. He received his associate's degree in electronic engineering from ITT Tech in Ohio. He was a computer specialist and an active member of Paoli Presbyterian Church. He was a veteran of the Air Force. Mr. White loved landscaping, auto mechanics, electronics, animals, especially dogs, and spent many hours volunteering at his church.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Dunbar; father, Thomas David II of Audobon; mother, Elaine Marziani of Malvern; daughter, Kyla Rose White of Brunswick; brother, Phillip Edward White of Malvern; sisters, Alicia Rose Marziani and Paige Fiore Marziani, both of Malvern, and Traci Dawn Clardy of Downington; grandfather, Col. Thomas White of San Antonio; and grandmother, Marie White of San Antonio.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, George Edward Kulp.

Service: 11 a.m. Saturday at Paoli Presbyterian Church, 225 S. Valley Road, Paoli.

Interment in the Church Garden.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Paoli Presbyterian Church at the above address would be appreciated.
