Rose Barga
Rose Marie Barga, 88, 921 E. Spring St., St. Marys, died 7:30 p.m. April 4, 2002, at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born Oct. 19, 1913, in Minster to Joseph and Louise (Blaze) Weber. On July 3, 1936, she married Harry Lee Christopher, who died Feb. 14, 1950. On July 6, 1954, she married Frederick Barga, who died Jan. 7, 1990.
Surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Cheryl and Edward Broyles, St. Marys, and Paulette and Michael Miller, St. Marys; a son and his wife, Paul and Becky Christopher, St. Marys; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
She had worked at the former DWG Cigar Factory in St. Marys until 1946 and was then a homemaker. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys, the Rev. David Heinl officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, is 2-5 p.m. Sunday.
Contributions may be directed to Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Irene Monnin
Irene M. Monnin, 91, 5221 Russia Road, Russia, died April 5, 2002, at 9:13 a.m. at Heartland of Piqua, where she had been a resident four and a half years.
She was born March 16, 1911, in Fort Loramie to Frank and Josephine (Riethman) Schafer. On May 23, 1936, she married Wilfred J. Monnin, who died July 24, 1980.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, Roger and Marilyn of Piqua and Dennis and Joan of Russia; a daughter and her husband, Beverly and Ronald Thomas, Vandalia; a daughter-in-law, Sally of Russia; two brothers and their wives, Joseph and Esther Schafer, Fort Loramie, and Jerome and Doris Schafer, Russia; two sisters and their husbands, Dorothy and Roman Buehler, McCartyville, and Virginia and Joseph Brandewie, Fort Loramie; a sister, Emma Grilliot, McCartyville; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Deceased are a son, Ronald, a grandchild, and two brothers and three sisters.
She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Newport, and the Ladies Sodality of the church. She was retired from Versailles Poultry Producers.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Donald Shelander officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-7 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
Memorials can be directed to the church improvement fund.

Karl Ahrns
Karl Ahrns, 72, Ohio 66, Fort Loramie, died April 4, 2002, at his home following a lengthy illness.
He was born Aug. 15, 1929, in Fort Loramie to Herman and Josephine (Schmidt) Ahrns. On June 4, 1966, he was married Evelyn Marie Hemmelgarn, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons and their wives, James and Tammy of Piqua, Gary Joe and Michelle of New Bremen and Emerson Keith and Janell of Marysville; a daughter and her husband, Leesa and Douglas Brown, Minster; a daughter, Lynn of Fort Loramie; a sister and her husband, Kathleen and Arthur Fisher, Fryberg; two brothers and their wives, Bernard and Rosemary of Pemberton and Julius and Mary Alice of Maria Stein; and 15 grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was a sister and two brothers.
He retired in 2000 after 33 years in firewood sales and had owned and operated E & K Fruit Market after several years in the soft drink distribution. He was a 1947 graduate of Fort Loramie High School.
He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Fort Loramie, and the St. Michael's Knights of St. John, Commandary 300. He also was a member of the Minster Eagles Lodge.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Calling is 3-9 p.m. Monday and 12:30-1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Gehret Funeral Home, Fort Loramie.
Contribution can be made to Wilson Hospice Care, Sidney.

Herbert Bye
Herbert C. Bye, 96, formerly of Portland, Ind., died April 5, 2002, at Swiss Village, Berne, Ind.
He was born Oct. 24, 1905, in Jay County, Ind., to Willis and Rosa (Cook) Bye. On April 9, 1939, he married Berniece Stein and she died Nov. 2, 1996.
Surviving are two sons, Melvin Clair of Portland and Bruce W. of Beech Grove, Ind.; a daughter and her husband, Marilyn and Verlin Bulmahn, Decatur, Ind.; a sister, Harriett Bye, Berne; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He graduated from Portland High School in 1926 and attended North Central College, Naperville, Ill. A livestock and grain farmer, he was named Indiana's Outstanding Polled Shorthorn Breeder in 1976. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Portland, Farm Bureau and the Jay County Historical Society.
Services are 11 a.m. (Ohio time) Tuesday at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home, Portland, the Rev. Mark Strietelmeier officiating. Burial will be in Green Park Cemetery.
Calling is 3-9 p.m. (Ohio time) today at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to the church or the Historical Society.

Paul Campbell
Paul Campbell, 82, 08359 County Road 66A, New Bremen, died April 6, 2002, at 9:45 p.m. at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born Feb. 16, 1920, near New Knoxville, to Oscar and Emma (Hight) Campbell. On Oct. 25, 1947, he married Mary Lou Donnerberg and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Linda and Larry McMullen, Geneva, Ind., and Jeanne and Brice Miller, Fort Collins, Colo., and a daughter, Pauline Greaves, Marysville; a sister-in-law, Irene Campbell, Botkins; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Deceased are four brothers, John, Charles, Joe and William; an infant brother and two sisters, Mary Ellen Lowe and Clara Freisthler.
He retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Marys, in 1980 after 32 years of service. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, New Bremen, and a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9289, St. Marys.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, the Rev. John W. Tostrick officiating. Burial will be at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to the church or the New Bremen Emergency Squad.

Doris Donart
Doris L. Donart, 86, of Wapakoneta, died at 12:20 p.m. April 5, 2002, at Auglaize Acres Nursing Home, Wapakoneta.
She was born Dec. 2, 1915, in Mercer County, to Ivan Merle and Edna (Severns) Roller. On Dec. 16, 1939, she married Wilfred George Donart and he died Feb. 17, 1998.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, Michael Scott and Barbara of Simi Valley, Calif., and James Richard and Marilyn of Albuquerque, N.M., and a son, Donald Leslie of Cincinnati; a daughter, Rosemary Kay of Wapakoneta; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are three brothers, Neil Severns Roller, Richard Mark Roller and Donald Roller, and a sister, Donna Lenore Longbrake.
She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church, Wapakoneta.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Rick Bell officiating.
Calling is 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Arrangements are being handled by Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.

Gladys Gruebmeyer
Gladys C. Gruebmeyer, 77, 01835 Lock Two Road, New Bremen, died at 3:13 a.m. April 6, 2002, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
She was born Nov. 7, 1924, in Marion Township, Mercer County, to Benjamin and Evelyn (Rump) Brockman. On June 20, 1945, she married Wilbert Gruebmeyer and he survives.
Also surviving are three sons and their wives, Larry and Carol of Mesa, Ariz., Wayne and Kathy of New Bremen and Ned and Janet of Tipp City; a daughter and her husband, Janet and Robert Eilerman, New Bremen; a brother and his wife, Warren and Marita Brockman, St. Henry; a sister and her husband, Vernita and Mack Wellman, and a sister, Helen Wissman, all of New Bremen; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two infant sons, James and David, and two brothers, Earl and Paul Brockman.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, New Bremen.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Revs. Richard Weir and John Tostrick officiating. Burial will be at German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.
Calling is 3-7 p.m. Tuesday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, and after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Contributions can be made to the church memorial fund, New Bremen/German Township Fire Foundation or the New Bremen Emergency Squad.
