Ralph Chappie
Ralph Francis Chappie, 64, 874 E. Main St., Versailles, died at 12:45 p.m. May 3, 2001 at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy.
He was born Nov. 1, 1936, in Versailles, to Adrian F. and Florence M. (Couchot) Chappie, both deceased. On May 19, 1962, he married Alice A. Schmidt, who survives.
Other survivors are four sons and their wives, Michael R. and Patricia, Troy, David J. and Pam, Auburn, Ind., Anthony L. and Leigh, Piqua, and Robert J. and Mary, Mico, Texas; two brothers Raymond and John, both of Montezuma; and nine grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother, James.
He was retired from Harrison Radiator in Dayton after 28 years and was a former U.S. Army paratrooper. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles, a member of the Versailles Knights of Columbus and Fraternal Order of Eagles organizations. He was a former Boy Scout master and a 25-year volunteer for the Versailles Fire Department.
Mass is at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Leo A. Hoying officiating. Burial is at Miami Memorial Park in Covington. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Versailles posts of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War. K of C services will be held Sunday.
Calling is 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Bailey-Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles.

Henrietta Muhlenkamp
Former St. Anthony resident Henrietta Muhlenkamp, 82, 3810 Lost Tree Road, Rio Rancho, N.M., died at 9:40 a.m. May 4, 2001, at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Sept. 27, 1918, in Osgood, to Bernard and Elizabeth (Steacker) Drees. On May 14, 1938, she married Isidor Muhlenkamp, who died Aug. 23, 1987.
Survivors are two sons and their wives, Ronald and Connie, Bradford Woods, Pa., and B. William and Jeannette, El Paso, Texas; three daughters and their husbands, Joyce Ann and Frank Koesters, Coldwater, Virginia and Frank Moorman, Coldwater, and Marguerite and Ken Brodbeck, Celina; a daughter-in-law, Karen Muhlenkamp, Tuscon, Ariz.; a brother and his wife, Arthur and Rosalie Drees, Minster; a brother, Ivo Drees, Coldwater; a sister and her husband, Vera and Rick Wuebker, Versailles; three sisters-in-law Margie Drees, Dayton, Charlene Drees, Dayton, and Ruth Drees, Coldwater; 20 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, eight step-great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a son, Rodney; three sisters, Leona Schoen, Olivia Wappelhorst and Marcella Wappelhorst; three brothers, Ralph Drees, Harold Drees, and Luke Drees.
She was a member of St. Anthony Church in St. Anthony and a member of the church's Rosary Altar Sodality. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Rio Rancho, N.M., and a member of the National Catholic Society of Foresters. She was a member of of the Lovelace Hospital Auxiliary and a member of TOPS and KOPS.
Mass is at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony Church, the Rev. Mark Miller officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-9 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Contributions can be made to Mercer-Darke County Hospice, the American Cancer Society or the donor's choice.

Kenneth Bonifas
Kenneth H. Bonifas, 78, 604 E. Vine St., Coldwater, died at 7 a.m. May 4, 2001 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Dayton.
He was born July 29, 1922, in Landeck, to Sylvester and Leona (Schwinnen ) Bonifas. On Oct. 24, 1942, he married Rita D. Wiechart, who survives.
Other survivors a daughter and her husband, Ladonna and Melvin Craft, Celina; three sons and their wives, Carl and Janet, Spencerville, Howard and Nancy, St. Henry, and Ralph and Amy, Coldwater, a son, Clifford of St. Marys; 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sisters, Clara Staudenheimer and Louella Hotz; a brother, Vernon; a half-sister, Alma Stinehauser, a half-brother, John Bonifas; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was retired from the St. Marys Foundry and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Coldwater and a former member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Spencerville. He was members of several organizations, including Veterans of Foreign War Post 9289 in St. Marys, American Legion Post 191 in Spencerville, Ohio Chapter 119 of the DAV, St. Mary's and the Military Order of the Cooties, Pup Tent 61, St. Marys Eagles Aerie 767. He also was a founding member of the Northwest Ohio Field and Stream Association in Spencerville.
Mass is at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Spencerville, the Rev. John Fleck officiating. Burial is at Spencerville Cemetery. Graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 191 and VFW Post 6772, both of Spencerville and VFW Post 9289 of St. Marys.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville, where a parish wake service will be held at 8 p.m.
Contributions can be made to Disabled American Veterans.

Navaneetham Meikandan
Navaneetham Meikandan, 66, 1815 Samples Court, Celina, died at 1:38 a.m. May 5, 2001, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
She was born Dec. 6, 1934, in Chennai, India, to Kanni Pillai and Murugammal. On June 9, 1955, she married Meikandan Sachidanandam who died Aug. 22, 2000.
Survivors are a daughter and her husband, Amudha and Thiru Veerabadran, Celina; and a grandson.
She was a homemaker and member of Hindu Temple, Dayton.
Services were held Sunday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Ramesh Rajamani officiated. Cremation followed the service.

Ralph Miller
Ralph M. Miller, 72, of Celina, died at 12:30 p.m. May 4, 2001 at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
He was born June 2, 1928, in Tyrone, Pa., to Reed and Dorothy (Reed) Miller. On March 9, 1952, he married Jeanne Grove who survives.
Other survivors are a son, Ralph M. of Cincinnati; three daughters, Cynthia L. Drain, Kelseyville, Calif., Rebecca J. Robson, Cincinnati, and Barbara A. George, Corbin, Ky.; a brother and his wife, Reed T. Jr. and Janet of Lock Haven, Pa.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was a retired salesman for Sears and a member of the Ohio Cremation & Memorial Society.
Private services will be held at a later date. The body is to be cremated and burial will take place at Butler County Memorial Park Cemetery, Hamilton.
There are no calling hours.
Contributions can be made to the nurses on 3-A Wing at St. Rita's Medical Center.

Henrietta Muhlenkamp

Kenneth Williams
Kenneth E. "Hank" Williams, 71, 520 Sycamore St., Celina, died at 7:30 a.m. May 3, 2001 at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born Aug. 9, 1929, in Middlesboro, Ky., to Curtis and Ruby (Marlow) Williams, who both are deceased. On Nov. 9, 1952, he married Joan Sutter, who survives.
Other survivors are a son and his wife, Curt and Angie, Celina; a son, Mark, Celina; two daughters and their husbands, Brenda and Richard Carlin, and Barb and Dean Howell, all of Celina; a foster son and his wife, Brock and Tessa Burke, Hilliard; 10 grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Deceased are five brothers and a sister.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in St. Marys.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina, Deacon Thomas Huff officiating. Burial is at Mercer Memory Gardens in Celina.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Cheryl Cheslock
Cheryl M. Cheslock, 45, 5 Parkview Drive, Minster, died at 9:50 a.m. May 7, 2001 at James Cancer Center, Columbus.
She was born Sept. 9, 1955, in St. Marys, to Alfred and JoAnn (Frierott) Macke who are deceased. On July 18, 1980, she married William S. Cheslock who survives.
Other survivors are two daughters, Kristen and Kara; and a son, Kyle, all at home; two sisters and their husbands, Ellen and Jack Shaffer, Columbus, and Lisa and Dennis Gadonniex, Sarasota, Fla., and a sister, Lynne Macke, Orlando, Fla.; two brothers, Todd Macke, Fort Myers, Fla., and Jeff Macke, Celina.
She was a former biology teacher and volleyball coach at Chaminade Julianne High School, Dayton, and owner and operator of Tastee Treet Dairy Bar, St. Marys. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, St. Marys Chamber of Commerce and National Federation of Independent Businesspeople. She was a 1973 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School and a 1978 graduate of the University of Dayton.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial is at Gethsemane Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 2-9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. Thursday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.

Ivan Hawk
Ivan Frederick Hawk, 79, 11300 Circle Drive, St. Marys, died at 2:15 a.m. May 7, 2001 at Otterbein Retirement Community, St. Marys.
He was born May 24, 1921, in Stone Creek, to Charles and Catherine (Stuckey) Hawk. On Jan. 17, 1942, he married Ruth Shackleford, who survives.
Other survivors are a son and his wife, Dan and Jackie of St. Simons Island, Ga.; two daughters and their husbands, Sandra and Jack Cotter, Oxford, and Jane and Alan Smith, Celina; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased are four sisters and a brother.
He was a dairy farmer and manager of the Sohigro Agriculture Products Plant, Plymouth. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Celina, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Free and Accepted Masonry, Lions Club, Grange and Farm Bureau. He was a 1939 graduate of Stone Creek High School.
Funeral services are 1 p.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church, Stone Creek, the Rev. Bill Haggis officiating. Burial will follow in Stone Creek Cemetery.
Calling is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, New Philadelphia, and at 12 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Contributions can be made to Darke-Mercer Hospice or St. John Lutheran Church of Celina pipe organ fund.
Funeral arrangements locally were handled by Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys.

LaDonna Sacher
LaDonna P. Sacher, 86, 307 E. Anthony St., Celina, died at 11:55 p.m. May 7, 2001 at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
She was born Nov. 15, 1914, in Delphos, to Samuel and Caroline (Eickholt) Hessian. On April 19, 1941, she married James Sacher who died Sept. 7, 2000.
Survivors are three sons and their wives, John and Marie, William and Arline, and Mike and Cathy, all of Celina; three daughters and their husbands, Jane and Ed Londt, Fort Wayne, Ind., Betsy and Joe Dahlinghaus, Minster, and Ann and Rusty Vorhees, Celina, and a daughter, Sue Weadock, St. Marys; a brother, Lawrence Hessian, Lima; a sister, Mary Eiting, Fort Wayne, Ind.; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased are an infant son, David, a son-in-law, Clark Weadock, two brothers, Robert and Walter, two sisters, Veronica Driscoll and Sister Mary Marchita.
She was a retired registered nurse at the former Gibbons Hospital, Celina. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Celina, and its Altar Rosary Sodality. She was a member of St. Rita's Alumni Association, American Associa-tion of Retired Persons and served on the Mercer County Blood Bank. She was a graduate of St. John's Delphos High School and St. Rita's School of Nursing.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Richard Riedel officiating. Burial is at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina.
Contributions can be made to the church's Educational Endowment Fund or Ohio Parkinson Foundation.
