Lowell Sidle Sr.
Lowell L. Sidle Sr., 81, of Van Wert, died at 5:15 p.m. June 17, 2003, at Van Wert County Hospital.
He was born Dec. 10, 1921, in Van Wert, to Lee and Grace Mongold Sidle. On May 18, 1947, he married Annabel Hart who died Aug. 11, 2002.
Surviving are two sons, Lowell Jr. (Patty) and Michael (Carol), both of Van Wert; four daughters, Linda Ball, Cincinnati, Judy (Jim) Reinhart, Van Wert, Barbara Hunter, Austin, Texas, and Rosemary Teghtmeyer, Wapakoneta; two brothers, Wayne (Carol) and O.C., both of Van Wert; a sister, Nelleta Reidenbach, Fort Wayne, Ind.; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
A brother-in-law, Carl Reidenbach, and a sister-in-law, Pauline Sidle, are deceased.
He retired from Weatherhead-Dana Corp., Antwerp, in 1983 after 22 years of service. He served with the U.S. Army in the European Theatre during World War II. He was a charter life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and a member of the American Legion post, both of Van Wert. He attended Wesley United Methodist Church, also of Van Wert.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Rev. Doug Stockton officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemeter, Van Wert, with the VFW and American Legion conducting military rites.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to the church.

Vera Slone
Vera Slone, 67, 2013 Cheshire Drive, St. Marys, died at 10:50 a.m. June 16, 2003, in the emergency department at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
She was born March 19, 1936, in Mousie, Ky., to Rufus and Betty Thornsberry Tuttle. On July 8, 1953, she married Holland Slone Sr. who survivies.
Also surviving are two sons, Holland Jr. (Peg) and Jimmy, both of St. Marys; three daughters, Kathy (Laban) Daniel, Sandra (Ed) Rhodes and Linda, also of St. Marys; and seven grandchildren.
Other survivors include five brothers, Doyle Tuttle, Pasadena, Texas, Jethro (Cathy) Tuttle and Glenn (EllaMae) Tuttle, both of St. Marys, Cletis (Cindy) Tuttle, Moreno Valley, Calif., and Bobbie (Terri) Tuttle, Atwanga, Calif.; three sisters, Vonnie Sutton and Shelby Roller, both of St. Marys, and Barbara Rhodes, Celina; a brother-in-law, Wayne Slone, Leburn, Ky.; and two sisters-in-law, Shirley Wicker and JoAnn Neubauer, St. Marys.
She retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Marys, in 1998 after 30 years of service. She was a member of St. Marys Missionary Baptist Church.
Services are 11:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Alva Daniel officiating. Burial will be at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 1-8 p.m. Thursday at Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.
Contributions can be made to James Cancer Hospital, Columbus.

Darren Welker
Darren L. Welker, 40, of Van Wert, died early Saturday morning at his residence of a gunshot wound. See story on page 1.
He was born Feb. 6, 1963, in Van Wert, to Stanley D. Welker and Shirley Welker Kemper. The mother survives in Maria Stein.
Also surviving are his fiancee, Kelly Thomas, Van Wert; a son, Zachary, and a daughter, Stevie Joy, both of Van Wert; a brother, Dallas (Kris) of Van Wert; four sisters, Dawn (Mark) Stutz and Katie Welker, both of Van Wert, and Darla (Terry) Seibert and D'Anna (John) Siano, both of Mendon; the stepfather, Joe Kemper, Maria Stein; the stepmother, Susan Welker, Van Wert; and a grandfather, Orval Humerickhouse, Mendon.
A brother, Dana, is deceased.
He was employed at Fort Wayne Roofing in Fort Wayne, Ind., and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Rockford.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Rev. Carey Knittle officiating.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Jesse Moore
Graveside services for Jesse C. Moore, 89, 564 E. Livingston St., Celina, are 1 p.m. Saturday at Spring Hill Cemetery, Fort Recovery, the Rev. W. Clark Willimann officiating.
The former Fort Recovery resident died April 23, 2003, at The Gardens at Celina.
W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, has charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions can be made to Wycliffe Bible Translators of Orlando, Fla.

Doris Thatcher
Doris M. Thatcher, 78, of Willshire, died at 9:16 a.m. June 16, 2003, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 27, 1924, in Willshire, to LeRoy and Mary A. Kline Painter. On Jan. 4, 1947, she married Preston B. Thatcher who died March 9, 1998.
Surviving are two sons, Delbert L. (Sue) of Milan and Shawn B. of Cincinnati; a daughter, Rhonda J. (Richard) Edgell, Willshire; three sisters, Christina Kline, Ohio City, Barbara Van Wald, Willshire, and Janet (Kenneth) Speelman, Scott; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased are four brothers, Charles, Gene, James and Cleo Painter, and four sisters, Katherine Hanshew, Margaret Painter, Martha Foreman and Devona Shell.
She retired in 1987 as a cook at Parkway Middle School following 26 years of service. She also worked at Becky's Restaurant in Willshire and was a 52-year member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 207, Willshire.
Services are 10:30 a.m. (Ohio time) Thursday at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Ind., the Rev. Bill Simms officiating. Burial will be at Willshire Cemetery.
Calling is 1-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to the Carey, Bill, Benny Scholarship Fund or the Janalee Hamrick Scholarship Fund at Parkway High School.

Paul Thomas
Paul E. Thomas, 75, 736 Virginia Ave., Van Wert, died at 11:20 p.m. June 15, 2003, at VanCrest Health Care Center, Van Wert.
He was born Sept. 9, 1927, in Van Wert County, to Homer and Nannie Woolam Thomas. On May 10, 1947, he married Naomi R. Oehlhof who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Gary (Roberta) of Van Wert; and two grandsons.
A sister, Lucile Gertrude Welker, is deceased.
He retired from farming and also worked for York Township and Pollock's Furniture, Van Wert. He was a 1945 graduate of York High School and a member of the Old Fashioned Farmers Organization and Van Wert County Farm Bureau. He also was a member of the former Wesley Chapel and attended Wesley United Methodist Church.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Rev. Douglas Stockton officiating. Burial will be at Tomlinson Cemetery.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or the church.

Mary Amweg
Mary Eileen Amweg, 79, of Ohio City, died at 8:40 a.m. June 15, 2003, at Vancrest Health Care Center, Van Wert.
She was born Jan. 3, 1924, in Van Wert, to E. Lee and L. Faye Adams Felger. On Dec. 22, 1941, she married James W. Amweg Sr. who died in 1992.
Surviving are three sons, James W. (Cindy) and Danny R. (Linda), Ohio City, and Michael L., Convoy; a daughter, Martha Cox, Convoy; four brothers, Junior Felger, Ralph (Gloria) Felger, Roger Felger and Danny Felger, all of Van Wert; a sister, Helen Drocy, Swanton; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Deceased are four brothers, Carrol, Milo, Eugene and Richard Felger.
She was a homemaker and attended the Ohio City Church of God.
Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Ohio City.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Ohio City Fire Department.

Dale Eichenauer Sr.
Celina native Dale Eichenauer Sr., 93, 9491 County Road 17, Wauseon, died at 12:50 p.m. June 13, 2003, at St. Luke's Hospital, Maumee.
He was born June 18, 1909, in Celina, to Daniel W. and Flonnie Rhodes Eichenauer. On Feb. 15, 1936, he married Glenna March who died June 10, 1994.
Surviving are two sons, Daniel D. Jr., Sherwood and Dean, Menomonee Falls, Wis.; two daughters, Janet and Di Ann Mock, both of Wauseon; a sister, Lavon (Arthur) Habbeger, Mesa, Ariz.; six grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and nine stepgreat-grandchildren.
A brother, Glenn, and a sister, Leota Weaver, are deceased.
He worked at S-K Hand Tools for 27 years before retiring in June 1974. He later worked as a guard at Dinner Bell from 1979 to 1988. He was a member and past deacon of First Baptist Church, Defiance.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Revs. Timothy Yazel and Jason Eichenauer officiating. Burial will be at Hill Cemetery.
Calling is 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. today at Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home Inc., Defiance, and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Contributions can be made to the church or Gideon International.

Marjorie Hurst
Celina native Marjorie J. "Bobbie" Hurst, 76, of Battle Creek, Mich., died June 14, 2003, at Evergreen Manor in Battle Creek, Mich.
She was born Sept. 1, 1926, in Celina, to Henry and Esthel Bryan Bobenmoyer.
Surviving are a son, Thomas Clark Jr., Marshall, Mich.; a daughter, Mary Deibel, Battle Creek; and five grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Ross Bobenmoyer, and three sisters, Vivian McEowen, Helen DiGenova and Mabel Purdy.
She retired in 1991 after working 40 years as a registered nurse at Battle Creek Health System. She was a Celina High School graduate and a 1947 graduate of Mercy College of Nursing. She was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church, Battle Creek.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. John Fleckenstein officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Battle Creek.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Richard A. Henry Funeral Home, Battle Creek. A rosary service is planned there at 7 p.m.
Contributions can be made to Good Samaritan Hospice or the Alzheimers Association.

Richard Teboe
Richard T. "Dick" Teboe, 67, 2974 Ohio 219, Coldwater, died at 2:55 p.m. June 13, 2003, to Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born Aug. 2, 1935, in Van Wert County, to Millard T. and Agnes (Germann) Teboe. On Nov. 22, 1952, he married Rose Ann McGough who died Dec. 3, 1972.
Surviving are three sons, Rick (Margie) of Monroe, Ind., Terry (Malinda) of Willshire and Tim of Elkhart, Ind.; three daughters, Vicki (Carl) Banter, Montpelier, Ind., Cindy (John) Etgen, Mendon, and Patty Brady, Wolcottville, Ind.; a brother, Donald (Bessie) of Atlantic Beach, Fla.; a sister, Mary Puthoff, Celina; his companion, Mary Wheeler, Coldwater; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A brother, Robert Lee, is deceased.
He had worked at Mersman Tables, Celina, Jensen Cabinets, Fort Wayne, Ind., and Val Aerospace, Mendon. He was a member of American Legion Post 210 and Amvets Post 91, both of Celina.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Randy Christian officiating. Burial will follow at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.
