Myra Gant
Myra L. Gant, 89, 659 N. Ash St., Celina, died at 7:30 a.m. July 10, 2002, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
She was born March 26, 1913, in Harrod, to Ernest and Lovie (Turner) Lowman. On Aug. 3, 1934, she married Charles Gant and he survives.
Also surviving are a son and his wife, Mike and Betty of Celina; a daughter and her husband, Judy and Frank McGough, Lafayette, Ind.; six grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Deceased are a grandson, four brothers and five sisters.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Celina.
Services are noon Saturday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Robert Metheny officiating. Burial will be later at North Grove Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Alfred Lange
Alfred J. Lange, 72, 502 W. Columbus St., St. Henry, died at 4:12 a.m. today, July 11, 2002, at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born Dec. 19, 1929, in St. Henry, to Henry and Philomena (Sutter) Lange. On May 5, 1955, he married Betty Grieshop and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons and their wives, Charly and Carolyn and Matt and Nikki, and two sons, Nick and Mark, all of St. Henry; five daughters and their husbands, Carol and Dan Wenning, Celina, Rosalie and Randy Wright, Doris and Ron Koesters and Janet and Jim Eckstein, all of Coldwater, and Lucy and Tom Marchal, St. Henry; and 21 grandchildren.
Other survivors are five brothers and their wives, Vernon and Katie, Virgil and Regina, Henry and Lucy and Thomas and Brenda, all of St. Henry, and David and Pam of Coldwater, and a brother, Donald of Celina; eight sisters and their husbands, Rosemary and Leroy Bensman, Ruth and Paul Backs and Ginny and Earl Goewert, all of St. Henry, Marjorie and Vincent Schoenherr, Fort Recovery, JoAnn and Ed Davis, Celina, Luella and Glen Klosterman, Lewis Center, and Shirley and Dennis Hartke, Westerville, Betty and Herb Hamberg, Coldwater, and a sister, Esther Lange, St. Henry.
Deceased are a grandchild and a sister-in-law, Betty Lange.
He retired from J & M Manufacturing, Fort Recovery, and farming. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the American Legion, all of St. Henry.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Larry Wyen officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-9 p.m. Friday and 8:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.

Tom Miller
Tom Miller, 76, of Colorado Springs, Colo., formerly of St. Marys, died July 1, 2002, at Veteran's Hospital, Denver, Colo.
He was born Feb. 10, 1926, in St. Marys, to Bill and Ruth (Smith) Miller. On Jan. 3, 1948, he married Janet Gast and she survives.
Also surviving are six sons and their wives, Gary and Dinah of Falson, Colo., Brice and Jeanee of Fort Collins, Colo., Ron and Tina of Piqua, Martin and Beth of Scottsdale, Ariz., Nick and Kelly and Dean and Debbie, all of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two daughters and their husbands, Lynn and Kevin Albert, Woodland Park, Colo., and Lori and Roger Miller, Kendrick, Idaho, and a daughter, Diana Wolfe, Casstown; and a sister, Marge Martin, St. Marys.
A brother and a sister are deceased.
He had been an employee of Brown Supply Co., Lima, and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 767 and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9289 and the Disabled American Veterans Post, all of St. Marys.
Services are 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Anselm Boeke officiating. A private burial service will follow.
Calling is 1:30-3:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Alice Tomhafe
Alice May Tomhafe, 96, formerly of St. Marys, died July 8, 2002, at Villa Maria Nursing Center, Miami, Fla.
She was born May 10, 1906, in St. Marys, to Henry and Caroline (Rohr) Saar. On Feb. 21, 1924, she married Carl C. Tomhafe and he died March 2, 1946.
A son, Bill J. of Miami, survives.
Deceased are two brothers, Ernest and Harry Saar, and four sisters, Lydia Botkin, Clara Kessler, Mamie Meyer and Pearl Thomson.
She formerly worked as a buyer for May Co. Department Stores. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 530, Urbana, and the Lutheran Church.
Services are 11:30 a.m. Friday in the chapel at Zion Lutheran Church, St. Marys, the Rev. Chris Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 10:30-11:30 a.m. Friday at the church.
Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, has charge of arrangements.

Ginger Abbott
Ginger Abbott, 60, of Rockford, died at 5:50 a.m. July 11, 2002, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind. Death was due to natural causes.
She was born July 2, 1942, in Van Wert, to Stanley Spicer and Wanda Jane (Krieger) Spicer Prichard. On Oct. 3, 1970, she married William Abbott and he survives.
Also surviving are a son and his wife, Curt and Cindy of Auburn, Ind.; a daughter and her husband, Kari and Don Smith, Rockford; a brother and his wife, James L. and Sandra Prichard, Rockford; a sister and her husband, Neila and Ron Allmandinger, Van Wert; and three grandsons.
She operated a beauty shop in Ohio City for several years and drove bus for Parkway Schools. A 1960 graduate of Ohio City-Liberty High School, she was a member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church, Rockford.
Funeral Mass is noon Saturday at the church, the Rev. Richard R. Riedel officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Ohio City.
Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, has charge of arrangements. There is no visitation.
Contributions can be made to the Disabled American Veterans or Wee Care Day Care Center, Van Wert.

Alvina Rammel
Alvina M. Rammel, 85, 3321 Mercer-Darke County Line Road, Fort Recovery, died at 7:05 a.m. July 11, 2002, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 28, 1916, in Chickasaw, to Charles and Agnes (Meier) Schulte. On Oct. 9, 1937, she married Paul Rammel and he died March 4, 1999.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, Clete and Donna and Walt and Susie, all of Fort Recovery; three daughters and their husbands, Margaret and Marvin Bertke, Coldwater, Pauline and Robert Schlarman, St. Henry, and Ann and Steve Hoelscher, Minster, and a daughter, Mary Rammel, Fort Recovery; a daughter-in-law, Bev Kuck, New Bremen; a sister, Ida Homan, Fort Recovery; two sisters-in-law, Agnes Schulte, New Bremen, and Clara Rammel, Dayton; 23 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sons, Charles and Louis; two daughters-in-law, Barbara Ann and Barbara Sue Rammel; two brothers, Clem and Norbert Schulte; three sisters, Hilda Heitkamp, Mary Homan and Eleanor Homan; and three grandsons.
She retired as cook and janitor at the former Sharpsburg Elementary School. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Sharpsburg, and the Altar-Rosary Sodality of the church.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Matt Jozefiak officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at Brockman & Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery.
Contributions can be made to Mercer/Darke County Hospice.

Dorothy Whetstone
Dorothy M. Whetstone, 93, formerly of 613 E. High St., St. Marys, died at 9:05 a.m. July 11, 2002, at Valley Nursing Home, St. Marys.
She was born Dec. 26, 1908, in St. Marys, to Daniel and Ida (Witzenhauser) Deitsch.
Surviving are a daughter, Connie Finke, St. Marys; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
One sister, Jeannette Deitsch, and a grandson are deceased.
A 1926 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School, she had worked as a bookkeeper and secretary in the area for many years. She attended First Friends Church, St. Marys.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, with Harold Huff officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is after 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to the Auglaize County Humane Society.

Eileen Breiner
Eileen A. Breiner, 64, Troy, Mich., formerly of St. Marys, died at 3:45 p.m. July 11, 2002, at her residence. Death was due to leukemia.
She was born Feb. 26, 1938, in St. Marys, to Leo and Ada (Moeller) Dammeyer. The mother survives in Wapakoneta. On July 12, 1975, she married Steven W. Breiner, who is deceased.
Other survivors include two daughters, Debra Chiles, Lorton, Va., and Teresa Jiminez, Laredo, Texas; a brother, Kenneth Dammeyer, Churubusco, Ind.; a sister, Jean Schroer, New Bremen; and four grandchildren.
She was a 1956 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School and a graduate of the University of Akron. She was employed as office manager at Northern Waste Management, Warren, Mich.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church, St. Marys, the Rev. Joachim Wilck officiating. Burial is at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.

William Feth
William R. "Bill" Feth, 75, 8250 Ohio 703, Celina, died at 3:15 p.m., July 11, 2002, at his residence.
He was born May 22, 1927, in Lima, the son of William A. and Zelma E. (Coffman) Feth.
Survivors are a sister, Hope Zink, of St. Marys; two nephews and a niece and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
He was a widely known figure in Celina and girl's softball, spending nearly 46 years teaching math, business and accounting in Celina and 52 years coaching fast-pitch softball.
He was a 1945 graduate of Celina Senior High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He gained a bachelor's degree from Findlay College and a master's degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind.
Before his softball career, he coached the Celina High School football team. He headed up the girl's softball program for the school from 1976 to 1998, and he was assistant girl's softball coach at St. Marys Memorial High School from 1998 until the present. He was also a statistician for the Celina boys' and girls' basketball programs.
Currently he was the one of the founders and head coach of the Celina Suns fast-pitch adult girls softball team.
He was inducted into the Findlay College Hall of Fame and the Ohio High School Athletic Association Coaches' Hall of Fame.
He held memberships in the Celina posts of the Masonic Lodge, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Moose Lodge and Eagles Lodge. He was also an advisor for the Future Business Leaders of America.
Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church, 1025 Greenville Road, St. Marys, the Rev. Keith Kivlin officiating. Burial, with grave side military rites, is at Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
Calling is from 2 -8 p.m. Monday at Long & Folk Funeral Home in St. Marys.
