Frank Frisbie
Frank C. Frisbie, 87, formerly of 2235 Springmill Road, Kettering, died at 2:36 p.m. July 23, 2002, at Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community, where he had resided the past two years.
He was born Oct. 20, 1914, in Lima, to Frank and Emma (Rouge) Frisbie. On Feb. 26, 1954, he married Esther Laux and she survives at Otterbein St. Marys.
Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
One brother and five sisters are deceased.
He retired from General Motors, Harrison Radiator Plant in Dayton. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9927, both of Kettering, and a member of AFL-CIO Local 801, Dayton.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. David Woodyard officiating. Burial is at 1 p.m. Saturday at David's Cemetery, Kettering.
Calling is 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to the Otterbein St. Marys Chapel Fund.

Nancy DeCamp
Nancy "Ruth" DeCamp, 86, of Willshire, died at 3:40 a.m. July 24, 2002, at The Laurels of Shane Hill Nursing Home, Rockford. She had resided there the past year.
She was born July 19, 1916, in Putnam County, to Aaron and Dovie Jane (Mason) Ridenour. On Sept, 8, 1932, she married L. Dennison Tinkham and he died Feb. 2, 1951. On Oct. 3, 1953, she married Clarence P. August and he died Aug. 8, 1969. She married Otis L. DeCamp July 7, 1973 and he preceded her in death May 28, 1979.
Surviving are three stepsons, Richard L. DeCamp, Salem, Ore., Edward DeCamp, New Port, N.C., and John O. DeCamp, Lima; a stepdaughter and her husband, Louise and Anthony Kneuss, Celina, and two stepdaughters, Beth Demint, Celina, and Carol DeCamp, Lima; two brothers, Paul R. Ridenour, Willshire, and William G. Ridenour, Lake Worth, Fla.; and three sisters, Norma E. Agler and Olive Morrison, both of Decatur, Ind., and Betty Jane Burson, Bellevue.
One daughter, Nyla Faye Reed, and two brothers, Roy V. and Ralph F. Ridenour, are deceased.
She retired from L.S. Ayres and also worked 10 years at General Electric in Decatur. She was a member of the United Brethren in Christ Church, the Women's Missionary Association and the Senior Citizen Cardinals, all of Willshire, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Adams County Homemakers Club in Bluecreek Township.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Jody Harr officiating. Burial will follow at Willshire Cemetery.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Friday at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Alvina Stammen
Alvina A. "Vi" Stammen, 90, 512 W. North St., Coldwater, died at 4:35 p.m. July 25, 2002, at The Gardens of St. Henry.
She was born Jan. 20, 1912, in St. Henry to George and Bernadine (Schmackers) Lefeld. On April 8, 1931, she married William Stammen and he died March 23, 1994.
Surviving are three sons and their wives, Lavern and Jean and John and Linda, all of Coldwater, and George and April of Fort Recovery; three daughters and their husbands, Della Mae and Paul Luebke, Maria Stein, Irene and David Schoenlein, Coldwater, and Rosella and James Cronin, York, Maine, and two daughters, Mary Ann Esser, New Weston, and Ruth Platfoot, North Star; a son-in-law, Jim Barga, Leoudas, Mich.; 43 grandchildren, 83 great-grandchildren, five step great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are four brothers and their wives, Ed and Viola Lefeld, Ben and Agnes Lefeld, Henry and Trudy Lefeld and Martin and Mary Ann Lefeld, all of St. Henry; a sister and her husband, Dorothy and Richard Kuess, St. Henry, and two sisters, Agnes Pohlman, Maria Stein, and Bernie Homan, St. Henry; and two sisters-in-law, Sally Lefeld, Coldwater, and Clarina Lefeld, St. Henry.
Deceased are a daughter, Bernice Barga; two sons-in-law, Adam Esser and Bob Platfoot; two brothers, Joseph and Seraphim Lefeld; two brothers-in-law, Al Homan and Otto Pohlman; and two great-grandchildren.
She was a longtime nurse's aide at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home and the former Our Lady of Mercy Hospital, both of Coldwater. She also cared for people in their homes and served as a hospital volunteer.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, St. Ann's Rosary Altar Sodality and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, all of Coldwater, the Daughters of Isabella and American Legion Auxiliary, both of St. Henry, and St. Bernard Ladies Auxiliary, Burkettsville.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Coldwater church, the Rev. Ronald Wilker officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery, Burkettsville.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Sunday and 9-10 a.m. Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
Contributions can be made to Mercer/Darke County Hospice.

Marion Huckemeyer
Marion R. Huckemeyer, 85, 11300 Circle Drive, St. Marys, died at 6:05 a.m. July 26, 2002 at Otterbein Nursing Home. He formerly resided at 7960 U.S. Route 33, Celina.
He was born May 25, 1917 in St. Marys to Harry and Bertha (McAfee) Huckemeyer. On Sept. 26, 1940, he married Leona M. Rockhold, and she survives.
Other survivors are two sons and their wives, Merlin and Nancy, Morehead City, N.C., James and Sandra, Celina; a daughter and her husband, Janet and Wallace Knapp, Upper Sandusky; two sisters, Hazel Lauth, Spencerville, Anna Shively, Wapakoneta, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceeded in death by one brother, Walter; and a sister, Florence McCarty.
He was retired as owner of Huckemeyer Insurance Agency, Celina, and was a farmer. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, St. Marys, where he was a former Sunday School teacher and board member. He was also a member of the Mercer County Farm Bureau.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Patricia Minnick officiating. Burial will follow at Spencerville Cemetery.
Calling is from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina and Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday at the church.

Elizabeth Limbacher
Elizabeth Limbacher, 95, formerly of 303 N. Front St., St. Marys, died at 8:33 a.m. July 26, 2002 at Valley Nursing Home, St. Marys, where she had resided for one month.
She was born Jan. 25, 1907, in St. Marys, to Samuel and Mary (Miller) Moyer. On April 2, 1962, she married Emil Limbacher, and he died March 31, 1987.
She is survived by one daughter, Gloria McCann, St. Marys; two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceeded in death by a sister, Edna Elzay; a brother, John Moyer; and one great-granddaughter.
She was a 1924 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School. She was a homemaker in recent years but had been employed at the St. Marys Woolen Mill and Rexall Pharmacy. She also assisted her husband in the operation of the Emil Limbacher Insurance Agency. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, St. Marys, a member of Hawthorne Chapter 119, Order of Eastern Star, American Legion Post 323 Ladies Auxiliary and St. Marys Senior Citizens Club.
Services are at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Long and Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Patricia Minnick officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 2:30-3:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to the church or the Auglaize County Humane Society.

Alvin Bensman
Alvin J. Bensman, 78, 68 E. Star Road, North Star, died at 6 p.m. July 28, 2002, at his residence.
He was born April 21, 1924, in Minster, to August and Marie (Heitbrink) Bensman. On Nov. 27, 1952, he married Joann Meyer and she survives.
Also surviving are a son and his wife, Russell and Barbara of St. Henry, and two sons, Robert of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Roderick of North Star; a daughter and her husband, Ruth Ann and Gary Krieg, St. Anthony, and a daughter, Rebecca of North Star; three brothers and their wives, Virgil and Mildred and Roland and Sharon, all of Versailles, and Leroy and RoseMary of St. Henry, and two brothers, Valinus of Versailles and Lester of Coldwater; and four grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Richard, and two sisters-in-law, Phyliss and Patty Lou Bensman.
He had worked as a truck driver for Subler Transfer, Versailles, and General Highway Express, Sidney. Following retirement, he operated Al's Sharpening Service in North Star.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, the Holy Name Sodality and the American Legion, all of North Star, the Knights of Columbus and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, both of Versailles.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. David Zink officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with military rites conducted by the American Legion.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry, and 9-10:15 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Gage Bonvillian
Gage M. Bonvillian, 4, 5826 E. 400 S., Salamonia, Ind., died July 26 at Riley Hospital for Children, Indianapolis, Ind., following an extended illness.
He was born Aug. 4, 1997, in Portland, Ind., to Glenn and Amanda (Walker) Bonvillian. They survive in Salamonia.
Also surviving are a sister, Abby J., at home; the maternal grandparents, Peg Daugherty, Fort Recovery and Ron and Anita Walker, Stevenson, W. Va.; the maternal stepgrandfather, Dick Daugherty, Montpelier, Ind.; the paternal grandparents, Dick and Karen Bonvillian, Fort Recovery; maternal great-grandparents, Clifford and Lois Norman, Portland, and Ron Sr. and Anita Walker, Beckley, W. Va.; and the paternal great-grandparents, Richard and Clare Bonvillian and Erie and Betty Elson, all of Fort Recovery, and Ralph and Mary Klenke, St. Marys.
Services will be noon Tuesday at the Portland Chapel of Williamson & Spencer Funeral Home, the Rev. John Gibson officiating. Burial will be at Salamonia Cemetery.
Calling is 5-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Jerome Briner
Jerome J. "Jerry" Briner, 65, 972 Ohio 49, Fort Recovery, died July 28, 2002, at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born Dec. 10, 1936, in Fort Recovery, to Floyd and Edith (Zorn) Briner. His mother survives in Fort Recovery. On Feb. 15, 1980, he married Cynthia Wills and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons and their wives, Terry and Annette Briner, Albany, Ky., and Tony and Denise Mart, Union City; three daughters and their husbands, Nancy and Doug Shinn, Coldwater, Karen and Lee Hindsley, Union City, Ind., and Tammy and Dave Ayers, St. Marys; a brother and his wife, Robert and Jody of Union City; and 21 grandchildren.
A daughter, Donna, and a grandchild are deceased.
He was a former realtor in Union City and he and his wife currently owned The Memory Shop in Fort Recovery. A 1954 graduate of Fort Recovery High School, he served in the Ohio National Guard. He was a member of the Rosehill United Methodist Church.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Brockman & Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, the Rev. George Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery, Fort Recovery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Burleigh Burke
Burleigh Burke, 95, formerly of Fort Recovery, died at 11:07 a.m. July 27, 2002, at the Gardens at St. Henry.
He was born Dec. 2, 1906, in Geneva, Ind., to Peter and Edna (Bowen) Burke. On Oct. 23, 1933, he married Ada Hodge and she survives.
Also surviving are a son and his wife, Peter and Marilyn of St. Marys; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a grandchild and a sister, Gertrude Berthold.
A retired barber, he was a member of Fort Recovery United Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge 539, also of Fort Recovery.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Robert Dungan officiating. Burial will be at Springhill Cemetery, Fort Recovery.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. today at Brockman & Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery. A masonic service will be held there at 7 p.m.

Iva Smith
Iva M. Smith, 81, of Kenton, died July 27, 2002, at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Kenton.
She was born May 13, 1921, in Ridgeway, to Silas Ray and Evie L. (Markham) Bailey. On Aug. 22, 1941, she married Delbert C. Smith and he died Oct. 7, 1974.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Ronald and Betty of Kenton; two brothers and their wives, Ledson and Geraldine Bailey and Silas Jr. and Lois Bailey, also of Kenton; a sister and her husband, Mary Lou and Ernie Goodwin, Rockford, and a sister, Laura Pauline Stewart, Iowa City, Iowa; one granddaughter, 10 stepgrandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
A sister, Virginia Cobb, is deceased.
She retired from Harco and North Electric. A 1939 graduate of Ridgeway High School, she was a member of the Women of the Moose and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 3333, both of Kenton.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Schindewolf-Stevens-Stout Funeral Home, Kenton, with Roger Brown officiating. Burial will be at Grove Cemetery.
Calling is 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.
