Don Muter
Don L. Muter, 61, of Venedocia, died at 3:22 p.m. Nov. 1, 2002, at his home following a lengthy illness.
He was born Dec. 10, 1940, in Elgin, to Ashley E. and Mable (Goodwin) Muter. He is survived by his fiancee, Debbie Fair of Middle Point.
Other survivors are three sons, Kevin, Scott and Ryan Fair, all of Middle Point; two sisters and their husbands, Jane and Virgil Martin, Antwerp, and Edna and Mike Semer, Glenmore, and a sister, Sue Mohr, Convoy. and a former wife, Carol Place of Van Wert.
Deceased is a brother, Robert, and a brother-in-law, Dave Mohr.
He worked for 17 years at Clark Equipment, Lima, and 22 years with the Ohio Department of Transportation. He was a member of the U.S. Army National Guard, a 25-year member of Masonic Lodge, Mendon, Shanes Lodge, Rockford, and Lions Club, Venedocia. He was a member of Salem United Presbyterian Church, Venedocia.
Services were held this morning at the church, Wendy Pratt officiated. Burial was at Wright Cemetery, Venedocia.
Contributions can be made to the church, the Guidians International chapter in Van Wert, or Hospice.

Alice Remaklus
Alice R. Remaklus, 54, 612 E. Main St., Coldwater, died at 3 p.m. Nov. 3, 2002, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
She was born July 30, 1948, in Celina, to Zeno and Ann Marie (Will) Diller. Her mother survives in Fort Recovery. On Sept. 16, 1972, she married James Remaklus who survives in Coldwater.
Other survivors are a son and his wife, Chad and Mandie of St. Henry; a daughter and her husband, Shelly and Brad Bye, and two daughters, Shannon and Stacey, all of Coldwater; four brothers and their wives, Bob and Marian Diller of Pennsylvania, Neil and Pat Diller, Alan and Rosie Diller, and Louis and Jeannette Diller, and a brother, Dan Diller, all of Fort Recovery; a sister and her husband, Ruth and Earl Heyne, St. Sebastian; and seven grandchildren.
Deceased is a grandchild.
She had worked as a receptionist at the dentist office of Hoyng & Bruns DDS Inc., Coldwater. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater, the church's Neighborhood Ministry and St. Ann's Rosary Altar Sodality.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Thomas Mannebach officiating. Burial is at St. Elizabeth Cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.

Marilyn Smalley
Marilyn R. Smalley, 68, 5136 Grove Drive, Celina, died at 8:27 p.m. Nov. 1, 2002, at her residence. Death was due to liver failure.
She was born March 29, 1934, in Portsmouth, to Carl and Margaret (Collins) Arthur. Her husband, Forrest L. Smalley, died March 16, 1998.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Louis and Karen Oliver, Kettering; a daughter and her husband, Sharon and Charlie Yingst, Celina, and two daughters, Victoria Ann Oliver, address unknown, and Margaret Ann Oliver, Dayton; a brother and his wife, Carl and Edda Arthur, Baton Rouge, La.; two sisters and their husbands, Anna and Gary McGee, Kettering, and Francis and Steven Jones, Xenia; and numerous grandchildren.
A son, Arthur A. Smalley, is deceased.
A joint memorial service for Marilyn and Forrest Smalley will be 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ-Latter Day Saints, Celina, President William Davis officiating.
Contributions can be made to Mercer/Darke County Hospice.
Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater, has charge of arrangements.

Clela Stoepfel
Rockford native Clela D. Ketner Stoepfel, 91, 408 Sunrise Court, Van Wert, died at 6:39 a.m. Nov. 2, 2002, at Lincolnway Home, Van Wert.
She was born July 6, 1911, in Rockford, to Adam and Maude (Oliver) Alt. Her first husband, Chet Ketner, died in 1988. A second husband, Cletus F. Stoepfel survives at Lincolnway Home.
Other survivors are a daughter and her husband, Viola and William Hofacker, Scott; a stepson and his wife, Cletus D. and Ruth Stoepfel, Celina; a stepdaughter and her husband, Shirley Jean and Ed Kline, Deshler; a brother and his wife, Adrian and Norma Alt, Richburg, S.C.; a sister and her husband, Gloria and Everet Hanefeld, Continental; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are four brothers, John, Orville, Lorin and Bevan Alt; and three sisters, Mabel Dickey, Ada Alt and Treva Yoh.
She had worked at Reynolds & Reynolds, the former businesses of A&P and Kroger Supermarkets, and Charlie's Bakery, all of Celina. She attended the United Brethren in Christ Church, Rockford, and was a former member of the Rebecca Lodge, Oakwood.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Rev. Clark Williman officiating. Burial is at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to Lincolnway Home activity fund.

Arron Waggoner
Arron J. Waggoner, 16, 5844 North Star-Fort Loramie Road, New Weston, was killed Nov. 2, 2002, in a traffic accident two miles east of North Star. He was born May 28, 1986, in Montgomery County. Surviving is his father, Lee Johnson of North Carolina, and his mother and stepfather, Jacqueline and Dr. William Roberts of Yellow Springs.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mychael and Julian Roberts, both of Yellow Springs; and grandparents, John and Betty Waggoner, New Weston, Irene Johnson, North Carolina, and Lee Johnson II, Dayton.
A sophomore at Versailles High School, he was employed at Dew Fresh, Versailles. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, North Star.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. David Zink officiating. Burial will follow at Shooks Chapel Cemetery, New Weston.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Oliver Funeral Home, Greenville, and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Carrie Britten
Carrie E. Britten, 91, 440 Touvelle St., Lot 23, Celina, died at 4:19 p.m. Nov. 4, 2002, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
She was born Feb. 19, 1911, in Rockford, to Charles and Trecia (Alexander) Donovan. On Aug. 24, 1931, she married Vernon Britten and he died Jan. 23, 1976.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Jackie Lee and Virginia of Dade City, Fla.; three daughters and their husbands, Juanita and Richard Rosendahl, Yuma, Ariz., Betty and Ivor Morris and Judy and Frank Crabtree, all of Celina; a brother, Clarence Donovan, Celina; three sisters, Marie Howell, Celina, Ruth Chaney, Mendon, and Mary French, Coldwater; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Five brothers and a sister are deceased.
She retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Marys.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Kathleen Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

LaDoyt Bubp
LaDoyt Bubp, 84, 939 W. High St., Portland, Ind., died Oct. 30, 2002, at Valley Baptist Medical Center, Harlingen, Texas.
He was born Oct. 17, 1918, in Portland, to Guy and Christie (Thomas) Bubp. On Feb. 27, 1943, he married Agnes Miller and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Kenneth of Albany, Ind., and Stephen of New Port Richey, Fla.; two brothers, Fred and Roger, both of Portland; five grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He owned and operated Bubp's Shoe Repair in Portland from 1951 to 1984. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the West Walnut Street Church of Christ, Eastern Star #91, Oddfellows Lodge, American Legion Post 211, the Kiwanis Club and Jay Lodge 87, Free & Accepted Masons, all of Portland.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home, Portland, the Revs. Paul Strouse and Bruce Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Green Park Cemetery.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A Masonic service is planned there at 7 p.m.
Contributions can be made to the church or a charity of the donor's choice.

Frederick Gilberg
Frederick L. Gilberg, 87, 225 S. Washington St., New Bremen, died at 10:50 a.m. Nov. 4, 2002, at the St. Marys Living Center.
He was born March 6, 1915, in New Bremen, to Frederick and Margaret (Rattler) Gilberg. On Aug. 6, 1938, he married Delight Meyer and she died July 20, 1990.
Surviving are three sons and their wives, Ron and Juanita of New Bremen, Rich and Beverly of Piqua, and Bob and Nikki of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Ruth Ritter, New Bremen; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Paul F., and two sisters, Gertrude Thielker and Lillian Stovlbeck.
He retired in 1979 from the former Advance Auto Co. of New Bremen. He was a member of the former Zion Church, also of New Bremen.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, the Rev. Stephen Wills officiating. Burial will follow at German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.
Calling is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to Mercer/Darke County Hospice or the New Bremen Emergency Squad.

Roberta Thomas
Roberta J. Thomas, 63, 558 Circle Drive, Fairmount, Ind., died at 6:50 p.m. Nov. 3, 2002, at Community Hospital, Anderson, Ind.
She was born Jan. 30, 1939, in Dayton, to Floyd and Helen Clara (Spahr) Thomas. On July 27, 1985, she married Eddie Thomas and he survives.
Also surviving are a daughter and her husband, Echo and Kenny Price, Fairmount; a stepson, Todd Thomas, Fenton, Mich.; two stepdaughters and their husbands, Jana and Gary Weigel, Coldwater, and Lisa and Herb Schock, Cincinnati; and two grandchildren.
A sister, Judith Wuebker, is deceased.
She was employed as a clerk at Gibson Brothers Welding in Fairmount and formerly worked as a buyer at New Idea in Coldwater for 18 years. She was a member of the Fairmount American Legion Auxiliary.
Services are 1 p.m. Thursday at Armes-Hunt Funeral Home, Fairmount, the Rev. Jackie Michaelson officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Fairmount.
Calling is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to the American Legion Auxiliary.
