LaVern Donovan
LaVern Donovan, 80, 118 Clearview Court, St. Marys, died at 4:45 p.m. Dec. 17, 2000 at Valley Nursing Home, St. Marys.
She was born Dec. 14, 1920, in Macon, Ga., to Thomas and Daisy Mae (Burnet) Johnson. On Jan. 2, 1944, she married William J. Donovan, who survives.
Other survivors are a daughter and her husband, Anne and John Mailbordo, Paris, France; a son and his wife, William and Sharon of Palm Beach, Fla.; a sister, Jeanne Young, Fort Valley, Ga.; a brother, Van Johnson, Fort Valley, Ga.; and two grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers and three sisters.
She was retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., and was a member of First Presbyterian Church, both of St. Marys.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Keith Kivlin officiating. Burial is at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mildred Leonard
Mildred Leonard, 91, 15904 S. Gaylord Road, Lockport, Ill., died at 9:45 p.m. Dec. 17, 2000 at Valley Medical Center, Renton, Wash.
She was born Dec. 12, 1909, in Hamilton, Ind., to John and Mildred (Hammond) Leason. On June 13, 1935, she married Rev. Vern Leonard, who died Nov. 26, 1993.
Survivors are a daughter and her husband, Esther and David Granger, Celina; four sons and their wives, Paul Joseph and Marita Wolf, Fremont, Calif., Walter and Karen of Wilmington, Ill., Thomas and Jane of Plainfield, Ill., Russell and Judy of Renton, Wash., and a son, Rev. James Leonard, Woodbridge, Va.; a sister, Doris Freed, Auburn, Ind.; two sisters-in-law, Joan Leason, Hamilton, Ind., and Kathryn Leason, Fort Wayne, Ind.; 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Martin and Marvin Leason, and two sisters, Violet Stantz and Dorothy Hammond.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Celina Church of the Nazarene.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, the Revs. Oscar Clark, Larry Hamilton and Stanley Gerboth officiating. Burial is at Spring Hill Cemetery, Fort Recovery.
Calling is at 10 a.m. until time of services Friday at the funeral home.

Margaret Meyer
Margaret A. Meyer, 97, died at 11:55 p.m. Dec. 18, 2000 at Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Minster.
She was born June 29, 1903, in Minster, to Anton and Mary (Poeppelman) Wolf. On May 5, 1925, she married Adolph Meyer, who died in October 1988.
Survivors include a brother, Charles Wolf, Minster; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Wolf, Minster, and Carrie Wolf Hegemann, Wapakoneta; and a brother-in-law, William Baumer, McCartyville.
Deceased are two sisters and three brothers.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Augustine Church and its St. Monica Ladies Sodality, Minster, Ladies Auxiliary Knights of St. John, and Catholic Knights of America, Cassella.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. John Wolf officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-9:30 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.

Richard McClurg
Richard W. McClurg, 79, 22 Virginia St., Versailles, died at 11:15 p.m. Dec. 18, 2000 at Wayne Hospital, Greenville.
He was born Aug. 2, 1921, in Darke County, to Warren and Lydia Margaret (Young) McClurg. On May 18, 1946, he married Katherine V. McEldowney, who survives.
Other survivors are three sons and their wives, Michael D. and Sandy of Versailles, Philip and Linda of Coldwater, and Larry and Diana of Tipp City; a daughter and her husband, Kathy and Don Konicki, Dayton; a sister and her husband, Aileen and R. Dwight Sebring, Greenville, and two sisters, Mary Zumbrink, Rossburg, and Grace Sebring, Greenville; and six grandchildren.
Deceased are three brothers, Chelcie, Chester and Paul, and three sisters, Ruth Stonburner, Hazel Coons and Helen Coons.
He was formerly employed at Frigidaire, Dayton, Aero Products in Vandalia, NCR in Dayton, and retired as a brick mason. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Panama with anti-aircraft artillery. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church and Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge, both of Versailles, and Brick Masons Local 22.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Leo A. Hoying officiating. Burial with military rites conducted by the VFW and American Legion is at St. Valbert's Cemetery in Versailles.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. today and 9-10 a.m. Thursday at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles. The FOE will hold a Lodge of Sorrow at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to the Versailles Life Squad.

Juanona Rupard
Juanona Rupard, 59, 311 E. Madison St., St. Marys, died following an extended illness at 9:55 a.m. Dec. 19, 2000 at SCCI Hospital, Lima.
She was born Sept. 29, 1941, in Ligeon, Ky., to Ercel and Ella (Holbrook) Blair. On Sept. 17, 1959, she married Nelson E. Rupard, who survives.
Other survivors are a daughter and her husband, Deb and John Kable, and a daughter, Sonya, all of St. Marys; a son and his wife, Ronald and Brenda of St. Marys, and a son, Nelson Jr., all of St. Marys; a brother, James Blair, West Palm Beach, Fla.; two sisters and their husbands, Nina and Carroll Bollenbacher, Celina, and Scarlett and Michael Helmstetter, St. Marys; and nine grandchildren.
Deceased are his parents, an infant son, Gregory, and three brothers, Joseph, Edwin and Ronnie Blair.
She was a waitress at the former Orchard Tree Family Restaurant, St. Marys, and was a member of the Baptist faith.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Revs. Zee Holbrook and Gary Mosley officiating. Burial is at Resthaven Memory Gardens near Moulton.
Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Jean Springer
Jean M. Springer, 73, 72 S. Canal St., Montezuma, died at 1:55 p.m. Dec. 19, 2000 at Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community.
She was born Feb. 23, 1927, in Coldwater, to Clarence and Mary (Patterson) Becker. On July 14, 1946, she married Paul C. Springer, who died Dec. 12, 1993.
Survivors are a son and his wife, Samuel and Lavonna of Montezuma; a daughter and her husband, Jennifer and Mike Hall, Celina; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Douglas, and three brothers, Don, Hubert and Marion Becker.
She was a homemaker and a member of Montezuma Church of Christ.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Bill Cook officiating. Burial is at Ellis Cemetery, Montezuma.
Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to the church or Darke/Mercer County Hospice.

Anna Bollenbacher
Anna L. Bollenbacher, 67, of Celina, died at 10:55 p.m. Dec. 20, 2000 at her residence.
She was born Aug. 7, 1933, in Adams County, Ind., to Cecil E. and Ethel (Hunt) Smitley. Her mother survives in Berne, Ind. In May 1951, she married Paul E. Bollenbacher, who survives.
Other survivors are two sons and their wives, Roger and Victoria, and Gene and June, all of Celina; a daughter and her husband, Patty and Don Thees, Celina; four brothers and their wives, William and Norma Smitley, Dunkirk, Ind., Ronnie and Madelyn Smitley, Ossian, Ind., Jay and Mari Smitley, Berne, Ind., and Richard and Karen Smitley, Fort Wayne, Ind.; a sister and her husband, Karen and LaVerne Hartman, Berne, Ind., and a sister, Jerry Mae Kuhn, Geneva, Ind.; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was an office manager at Celina's Wal-Mart and was a member of Calvary Bible Church in Berne, Ind. She was a graduate of Jefferson Township High School.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Downing Funeral Home, Inc., Geneva, Ind., the Revs. David Knell and Paul Brown officiating. Burial is Kessler Cemetery in Mercer County.
Calling is 2-9 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.

Violet Linneman-Davis
Violet B. Linneman-Davis, 87, of Montezuma, died at 6:10 p.m. Dec. 19, 2000 at Independence House in Fostoria.
She was born April 26, 1913, in Ansonia, to Frank and Clara (Murray) Birt. On April 1, 1937, she married Vernon L. Linneman, who died Sept. 20, 1992.
Survivors are a daughter and her husband, Connie and Thomas Hoening, Fostoria; two brothers, Lovell Birt, West Jefferson, and Doyle Birt, Coldwater; two sisters, Mary K. Smalley and Patty Fleck, both of Celina; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a sister, Thelma Ott.
She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Montezuma.
Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Revs. James Dugal, C.PP.S. and Ronald Wilker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, and 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the church. A Christian wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Clara Dunlap
Clara E. Dunlap, 84, 10731 Ohio 118, Rockford, died at 4:05 a.m. Dec. 20, 2000 at Laurels of Shane Hill Nursing Home, Rockford.
She was born June 22, 1916, in Rockford, to Allen and Sarah Jane (Ford) Keoppel. She was proceeded in death by three husbands, Albert Frederick, Ted Adams and Berl Dunlap.
Survivors are a son and his wife, Jerry and Janice Frederick, Rockford; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased are four brothers, three sisters, two half-brothers and two half-sisters.
She was former owner of Ted's Gift Shop in Van Wert, and was a member of United Brethren in Christ, Van Wert. She was a graduate of Rockford High School, and had attended beauty college.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. George Hubbell officiating. Burial is at Stringtown Cemetery, Rockford.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to New Horizons Community Church, Rockford.

Verna Egbert
Former New Bremen resident Verna M. Egbert, 79, died at 5:55 a.m. Dec. 20, 2000 at Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Minster.
She was born Sept. 20, 1921, near New Bremen, to Levi and Julianna (Ziegenbusch) Egbert.
Survivors include a sister, Lodema Dicke, New Bremen, and nieces and nephews.
She was retired from the former Beatrice Foods in New Bremen, and was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, New Bremen, and its Quilter's. She was a member of New Bremen Senior Citizens and the Woodman of the World, New Bremen.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Gilberg Funeral Home, New Bremen, the Rev. Steven Wills officiating. Burial is at German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.
Calling is 3-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to the church's memorial fund or New Bremen Emergency Squad.
