Klaira Louise Peterman: infant daughter of Scott Peterman and Sheri Vogt of Piqua, died Wednesday, August 20, 2003 at 4:20 a.m. at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney. She was born August 19, 2003 at 9:22 p.m.
Klaira is survived by three brothers: Nathanael Vogt of Piqua, Tony Peterman and Charles Peterman both of London, OH; Maternal Grandparents: Martin and Brenda Vogt of Piqua; Maternal Great Grandparents: Ronald and Lois Sumner of New Carlisle and Paternal Grandmother: Clarice Peterman of Memphis, TN.
Memorial Services will be Thursday, August 28, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home with Rev. Mary Haldeman officiating.

GLENN E. FOSTER, age 65, of Piqua, Ohio, died Saturday September 13, 2003 at 9:30 P.M. at Heartland of Piqua Nursing Home. He was born July 2, 1938 in Houston, Ohio to the late Otto and Frances (Schaffer) Foster. He was married to Rosalie Kerrigan. They later separated and she survives.
Mr. Foster is also survived by 1 Step-Son: Jerry Andress of Piqua, O.; 1 Step-Daughter: Brenda Epley of Troy, O.; 1 Sister: Ruth Brown of Tipp City, O.; and 5 Step-Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 1 brother: Wayne Foster.
Mr. Foster graduated from Houston High School in 1956 and was active in his local church in Piqua. Glenn was a member of the Piqua Fraternal Order of the Eagles #614. He was a cook at The Springs Supper Club in Piqua for nearly 30 years.
Funeral Services will be Friday September 19, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home in Piqua, O. with the Rev. Fr. Angelo Caserta officiating. Burial to follow at Miami Memorial Park in Covington, O.. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5-7 P.M. at MELCHER-SOWERS FUNERAL HOME.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 20 W. Main Street, Springfield, Ohio 45502.

David G. Whitcomb: age 64 of Piqua; died Monday, September 29, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. in his residence. He was born August 15, 1939 in Evanston, IN to the late Wallace and Cerilla (Stambush) Whitcomb. He married Penny (McReynolds) Whitcomb July 6, 1996 in Piqua; she survives.
One sister survives Mr. Whitcomb: Mary Beth Robinson of Casstown, Ohio. One brother preceded him in death.
David worked at RT Industries in Troy for over 25 years.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, October 2, 2003 at 11;00 a.m. at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home with Pastor Jay Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Raymond Francis, Jr.: age 76 of Piqua; died Saturday, October 4, 2003 at 10:45 a.m. at Covington Care Center. He was born January 21, 1927 in Mendota, ILL to the late Raymond and Bertha (Frey) Francis. He married Evelyn M. (Chappie) Francis July 1, 1950 in Piqua; she survives.
Mr. Francis is also survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: William and Susan Francis of Ft. Loramie and Clarence and Michelle Francis of Piqua; two daughters and son-in-law: Bertha Ellen Nickson of Sidney and Patricia and Bill Jones of Piqua. He is also survived by 5 sisters: Francis Gariety of Piqua, Ann Hall of Westmont, IL, Joan May of Castleberry, Fla, Rosemarie Brandewie of Sidney and Joyce Hillgafort of Ft. Loramie; 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Four brothers preceded him in death.
Raymond attended Russsia Schools. He was a member of American Legion Post #355 in Fort Loramie. He served our country during WW II in the U.S Air Force. He worked at the Stolle Corporation for 39 years.
Graveside Services will be Monday, October 6, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Hill cemetery in Piqua with Fr. Thomas Grilliot officiating. Full Military Honors provided by Piqua VFW Post # 4874.
Arrangements are being handled by MELCHER-SOWERS FUNERAL HOME.

NELLIE J. POPHAM, age, 86 of Piqua, Ohio died Saturday October 4, 2003 at 8:20 P.M. at Piqua Manor Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be Wednesday October 8, 2003 at 10:00 A.M. at MELCHER-SOWERS FUNERAL HOME, with Rev. Lincoln Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 9-10 A.M. in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimers Assn. Miami Valley Chapter, The Laurelwood 3797 Summit Glen Dr. Ste. 100 Dayton, Ohio 45449.

Herbert Edson Sherwood Baker (AKA: (Pennie), 68, of Piqua, died Sunday Oct. 5, 2003 at 11:20 p.m. at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Dayton, Oh. He was born May 30, 1935 in Piqua, Ohio to the late Clifford H. and Oma (Faehl) Baker. He married Paula Langston Oct. 5, 1966 in Troy, Oh. and she survives.
Mr. Baker is also survived by six sons and daughters-in-law, Cliff and Karen Baker of Piqua, Oh., Robert F. Baker of Ocala, Fla., Fred and Robbi Schwable of Piqua, Oh., Randy and Pam Schwable of Piqua, Oh., Michael and Carla Baker of Piqua, Oh., Matthew Baker of Piqua, Oh.; one daughter and son-in-law, Danica and Tim Slonkosky of Sidney, Oh.; one aunt, Barbara Stephan of Piqua, Oh. Seventeen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one brother, Francis (Buddy) Baker.
Mr. Baker was a member of the Only Believe Ministries in Botkins, Oh. and St. Boniface Church in Piqua, Oh. He was also a member of the Piqua American Legion Post # 184, Piqua VFW Post# 4874, Piqua Amvets Post 72, Piqua Fraternal Order of Eagles and Covington Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was an avid Golfer and Bowler. Mr. Baker served our country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. army Airborne 101st.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 8 at Forest Hill cemetery, with the Rev. Jeff Bigby officiating, with full military honors by the Piqua American Legion Post 184. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Wed. at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home.
Memorial Contributions may be made to V.A. Hospice 4100 W. Third St. Dayton, Oh. 45428.

Dorothy J. “Dot” (Watson) Opp: age 64 of Piqua; died Thursday, October 9, 2003 at 10:50a.m. at Wilson Memorial Hospital. She was born June 12, 1939 in Greenville, South Carolina to the late Alvin and Avie (Sheriff) Watson.
Dot is survived by her fiancé: Ronald C. Haney of Piqua; four daughters and sons-in-law: Linda and Jerry Meyer of Piqua, Patricia and Rodney Cox of Dayton, Pamela and Daniel Stewart of Perrysburg, OH and Penny and Gregory Massie of Houston, OH; one son and daughter-in-law: Mark and Jeri Sweitzer of Piqua and seven grandchildren: Amber Sweitzer, Larry, Shane and Shannon Smith, Christina Allen and Daniel D. Jones, Jr. and Mark W. Sweitzer and twelve great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother: Chuck Watson of North Carolina. One brother: Raymond Watson and one granddaughter: Deanna Seas preceded her in death.
She was a very artistic and creative person. She loved her family deeply.
Funeral Services will be Monday, October 13, 2003 at 12:00 noon at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home with Pastor Ted Willis officiating. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park cemetery in Covington. Visitation will be Monday 10:00 – 12:00 at the funeral home.

STEVEN D. AULT, age 42, of Piqua, Ohio, joined his Father in Heaven Tuesday, October 14, 2003, at 11:21 P.M. at The Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born March 30, 1961 in Piqua, Ohio to the late Donald J. Ault and Carol J. (Couchman) Ault. She survives.
Surviving are: 4 Sisters: Rebecca A. Ault of Piqua, Mrs. Mark (Melissa) Millhouse of Piqua, Mrs. Randy (Carla) Baker of Piqua, and Mrs. David (Karen) Bingham of Piqua; and 4 Brothers: Donald J., Jr. and Gloria Ault of Piqua, Richard M. & Christine Ault of St. Paris, O., Michael A. & Susan Ault of Piqua, and Robert (Rob) A. Ault of Dayton, O.
Steven is also survived by many nieces and nephews and 9 great nieces and nephews. Steven loved to spend every spare minute enjoying his time with them.
He was a 1979 graduate of Lehman High School and was a member of St. Boniface Church in Piqua, Ohio. Steven enjoyed the computer and making model cars. He was an avid Bengals fan and loved to fish.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, October 18, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Boniface Church Piqua, O. with burial following at Forest Hills cemetery in Piqua. Rev. Fr. Angelo Caserta and Rev. Fr. Jim Hoffbauer will be officiating. Calling hours will be Friday from 4-8 P.M. at MELCHER-SOWERS FUNERAL HOME. A Prayer service will be held at 4 P.M. Friday in the funeral home.

Kenneth Gilmore: age 66 of Piqua; died Sunday, October 19, 2003 at 9:45 a.m. in his residence. He was born May 22, 1937 in Polo, Ohio to the late Raymond B. and Ellen (Galligan) Gilmore, Sr.
Kenneth is survived by three sons: Martin Gilmore of Piqua, Darrell Gilmore of Piqua and Dean Gilmore of Troy and one brother: Raymond B. Gilmore, Jr. of Lockington, Ohio. He is also survived by his ex-wife and long time friend and companion Peg Scanlon. Also surviving are his step-children: Ken and Mary Pat Shawler of Atlanta, GA, Scott and Sandy Shawler of Piqua and Julie and Chuck Green of Huber Heights. He was “Grandpa Kenny” to his many grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed their time together and watching their sports events.
He served our country in the United States Air Force 1955-1961. He retired from Brown-Bridge Paper Mill in Troy in 1995 after 7 years of service. He was also a Coater Helper at Champion Paper in Piqua for 15 years and Sunoco Products for 13 years.
Graveside Services will be Monday, October 27, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at Miami Memorial Park in Covington with full military honors provided by Piqua VFW # 4874.
