JOSEPH S. FRANCIS, age 85, of Piqua, Ohio, died Wednesday Sept. 29, 2004 at 7:05 A.M. at Wood Glen Nursing Home, Dayton, Ohio. He was born Jan. 18, 1919 in Darke County, Ohio to the late Raymond and Adeline (Barga) Francis.
He married Mary R. Marchal on June 26, 1948 in Piqua, O. and she survives. Also surviving is 1 Son and Daughter-In-Law: Stephen J & Susan Francis of Miamisburg, O. 3 Daughters and Son-In-Laws: Marsha & Steven Cruea of Troy, O. Rosemary Stumpff and her fiancé: Roger Stahl of Piqua, O. Karen & Clifford Baker of Piqua, O.
2 Sisters: Mrs. Lucille McClure of Versailles, O. Mrs. Evelyn Yahn of St. Mary’s, O.
5 Grandchildren: Matthew & Kristen Francis, Joe Reiber, Hayley Baker, Noah Baker, Elija Baker. Mr. Francis was preceded in death by: 2 Brothers and 1 Sister.
He was a member of St. Boniface Church, The Fraternal Order of The Eagles in Piqua. He retired from Piqua Emery Cutter and The French Oil Mill Co. in Piqua.
Mr. Francis served in the U.S. Army in World War II serving in New Guinea and the Pacific Theater. He received the Meritorious Unit Award, The American Theater and Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbons, Phillippine Liberation Ribbon and the Bronze Star.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday October 2, 2004 at 11 A.M. at St. Boniface Church with Rev.Fr. Angelo Caserta as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Forest Hill cemetery with full military honors by The Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. Calling hours will be Friday from 6-8 P.M. at MELCHER-SOWERS FUNERAL HOME. A prayer service will be held Friday at 6 P.M. in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Boniface Reserve Education Fund 310 S. Downing St. Piqua, Ohio 45356.

LEOMA E. (MINNICH) BAKER, age 56, of Sidney, Ohio, died Thursday September 30, 2004 at 12:15 P.M. at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney, Ohio.
Mrs. Baker was born August 20, 1948 in Piqua, Ohio to the late Herman W. and Hazel (Dixon) Minnich. She married Roger E. Baker on July 25, 1969 in Piqua and he survives.
Surviving are 1 Daughter and Son-In-Law: Karen and William Smith, Sidney; and 2 brothers: David Minnich, Florida and Robert Minnich, Clarkston, Michigan.
Leoma was a 1968 graduate of Piqua Central High School. She was a devoted homemaker.
Funeral services will be held Monday Oct. 4, 2004 at 10:00 A.M. at MELCHER-SOWERS FUNERAL HOME. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2–5 PM. Burial will follow in Fletcher cemetery, Fletcher, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Assn., P.O. Box 182039 Columbus, Ohio 43218-2039.

Thomas L. Penny: age 52 of Piqua; died Sunday, October 3, 2004 at 5:30 AM at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy. He was born March 20, 1952 in Piqua.
Mr. Penny married Twylah A. (Quinn) Penny May 29, 1976 in Troy; she survives. He is also survived by one daughter: Crystal Penny of Piqua and one granddaughter: Cayleen Harvey, two brothers: Perry Sage and Bob Penny both of Piqua and two sisters: Pat Skeens of Dayton and Linda Brown of Piqua.
Tom was preceded in death by his father: Elmer Penny and his mother and stepfather: Gladys (Shoe) and Howard Koeller.
He attended Piqua City Schools and was formerly employed by the City of Piqua Sanitation Department for several years.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, October 7, 2004 at 11:00 am at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home with Pastor Lincoln Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park in Covington. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Patricia A. Gross: age 67 of Piqua; died Sunday, October 3, 2004 at 6:40 p.m. at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy. She was born May 16, 1937 in DeGraff, OH to the late Forest and Mary (Fogt) Gross.
Ms. Gross is survived by two sisters; Mary Etta Villarreal of Lansing, IL and Scarlet Champ of Union City, IN and one brother: Kurt Gross of Sidney. Two brothers preceded her in death.
Pat graduated from Versailles High School in 1955. She was a member of Sidney Apostolic Temple and was a member of the Women of Destiny of the church. She also loved to play the trumpet and piano. Pat served our country in the U.S. Air Force 1956-1959. She was a Teletypist with American Airlines for 20 years, with Merrill Lynch for 15 years and Duff’s Restaurant for several years.
Funeral Services will be Friday, October 8, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Fries officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill cemetery with full military honors provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. Visitation will be Thursday 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Elmer “E.G.” G. McNeil: age 75 of Lockington; died Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at 3:13 a.m. at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney. He was born August 7, 1929 in Barboursville, KY to the late James and Hartinzi (Hill) McNeil. He married Lucy Ann (Bingham) McNeil December 30, 1950 in Barboursvile, KY; she survives.
Mr. McNeil is also survived by 4 sons and daughters-in-law: Russ and Carol McNeil of Anna, Jerry and Debbie McNeil of Monroe, Terry McNeil of Lockington and Benny and Rita McNeil of Nashville, TN; one daughter and son-in-law: Judy and Ron Freeman of Sidney; 9 grandsons: Daniel and Craig McNeil, James and Wayne Hoelscher, Bryan and Brad McNeil and Matthew, John and Luke Freeman and one granddaughter: Leah McNeil and 7 great grandchildren and one on the way. Two brothers also survive him: Dallas McNeil and Debert McNeil both of MI and a special niece Maggie Mantooth. Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
E.G. was a member of Mid County Church of Christ in Troy and The Golden Climbers. He served our country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was the owner/operator of EG McNeil Company in Sidney for many years. Elmer sang and played the guitar with the Ramblin’ Rangers. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather; he will be greatly missed.
Funeral Services will be Friday, October 15, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Forest Hill cemetery with full military honors provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. Visitation will be Thursday 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Thursday School with Mid County Church of Christ 1580 N. Dorset Rd. Troy, OH 45373.

Peggy L. (Wells) Lee: age 65 of Troy; died Saturday, October 16, 2004 at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy. She was born December 4, 1938 in Piqua to the late William and Charlotte (Olden) Wells. She married Robert E. Lee January 1964 in Sidney; he preceded her in death.
Ms. Lee is survived by one son: Robert C. Lee of Sidney; 2 daughters: Robin A Lee of Moraine and Resa A. Lee of Dayton; 4 brothers: Morrison Wells of Detroit, MI, Anthony Wells of Lima, Bruce Wells of Missouri and Mark Thomas of Indianapolis, IN; 6 sisters: Cheryl Wells of Piqua, Tony Warner of Georgia, Willa Mae Wells of Piqua, Victoria Sullivan of Maryland, Tonya Lewis of Columbus and Diane Wells of Georgia. She is also survived by 1 aunt: Pearl Mitchell of Piqua, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. One sister preceded her in death.
Peggy graduated from Piqua Central High School in 1957. She was a member of the Church of Jesus in Piqua where she was a Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Altar Worker, Minister of Coltson Prison Fellowship Ministry and she was a Minister.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, October 23, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Church of Jesus with Elder Brian Hamilton and Elder Howard Collier co-officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home in Piqua.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Church of Jesus 421 Wood St. Piqua, Ohio 45356.

MAGDALENE E. KLEY, age 93, of Piqua, died Wednesday October 20, 2004 at 2:25 P.M. at her residence. She was born August 21, 1911 in Newport, Ohio to the late Harry and Mary (Didier) Henry. She married Norman Kley on September 25, 1937 in Piqua, Ohio. He preceded her in death in 1985.
Surviving are 4 brothers: James Henry, Alfred Henry, Joseph Henry and Paul Henry, all of Versailles, OH; 2 sisters: Bertha Bryan, Piqua, OH, and Dorothy Zimmerman, Sidney, OH. Three sisters and 2 Brothers preceded her in death.
Mrs. Kley was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Piqua, OH and was a member of the Altar Society of the church. She was a devoted homemaker all her life.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, October 23, 2004, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Thomas Grilliot as Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Valbert cemetery in Versailles, Ohio. Calling hours will be Friday from 5-8 P.M.at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held Friday at 5 P.M. in the funeral home.

LIEUFAY S. (FAYE) KINCAID, Age 85, of Piqua, Ohio, died Saturday October 23, 2004 at 10:25 A.M. in Piqua Manor Nursing Home. She was born March 11, 1919 in Lawrence, County, Ohio to the late Fred and Jessie (Harrison) Shively.
Faye married Roger A. Kincaid on November 23, 1944 in Springfield, Ohio and he survives. Also surviving is 1 Son and Daughter-In-Law: Roger R. and Penny Kincaid of Celina, Ohio, 1 Sister: Bessie Watkinson of Springfield, Ohio, 2 Grandchildren: Kristopher & Aimee of Olathe, Kansas, Karisha Kincaid of Columbus, Ohio, 1 Great Grandson: Nathaniel Kincaid of Olathe, Kansas, and 1 Great Grandchild on the way. Faye was preceded in death by 3 Brothers and 2 Sisters.
Mrs. Kincaid was a 1938 graduate of Pitchen High School in Springfield, Ohio. She was a member of the Piqua Church of the Nazarene: Faye has served in all departments of the church in her years as a Christian, receiving The Distinquished Service Award of the Church of The Nazarene, Chairman of the Home Department and Missionary Society, she served faithfully each week as head greeter, song leader and choir, Children’s department, Vacation Bible School Director, called on all the shut-ins of the church for many years. She has served the Northwest Ohio District in the Missionary Dept., and District Assemblies of the Church of the Nazarene. Faye has served the Church of the Nazarene as a minister’s wife serving beside her devoted husband Rev. Roger A. Kincaid for over 50 years. Faye has always tried to carry the burden of prayer which fall to us as Christians. “I’m expecting to meet my husband, Son & wife and Grandchildren in Heaven when the depated time comes. I love you all, family and friends. Take up the Cross and follow closely. It isn’t goodbye, its just so long for a while.”
Faye was an assistant teacher at Troy Riverside School, and a sales associate at Elder Beerman in Piqua for 8 years and a devoted homemaker.
Funeral services will be held Thursday October 28, 2004 at 1:30 P.M. at the Piqua Church of the Nazarene 400 S. Sunset Dr. Piqua, Ohio with Rev. Christopher Polley and Rev. Lincoln Robinson officiating. There will be a luncheon preceding the service at 11:30 A.M. for family and friends at the activity building beside the church. Burial will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, New Carlisle, Ohio. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4-8 P.M. at MELCHER-SOWERS FUNERAL HOME, Piqua, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Piqua Church of the Nazarene Building Fund 400 S. Sunset Dr. Piqua, Ohio 45356.

JIMMIE E. COX, age 64, of Piqua, died Thursday Oct. 21, 2004 in his residence. He was born March 22, 1940 in Irvine, Kentucky to the late Oakley and Eva (Lay) Cox.
Mr. Cox is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law: Matt and Amanda Cox of Sherwood, Arkansas; Jeff and Laurie Cox of Alexandria, Virginia; and Chris Cox of Arcanum, Oh; one brother, Morris Cox of Mississippi; one sister Ruth Barber of Mt Vernon, Oh; five grandchildren, Steven and Markes Cox of Fort Walton, Fla.; Jessie and Tyler Cox of Alexandria, Virginia; and Aidan Cox of Sherwood, Arkansas.
Jimmie graduated from Miamisburg High School in 1958. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Troy. He was a local Businessman and Banker for many years. He was also very active in the City of Piqua.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday Oct. 27, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Nazarene in Troy with Rev. Sam Barber officiating. A private graveside service will follow in Hillgrove cemetery in Miamisburg, Oh. Visitation will be Tuesday Oct. 26 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home in Piqua.
