Germaine M. (Girard) Kolkmeyer, 94, of Fort Wayne, Ind., died at 9:45 p.m. Saturday at Covington Manor Nursing Center in Fort Wayne. She was born July 4, 1910 in Billings, Mont., to Johnny Napoleon and Alice (St. Cyr) Girard. In 1936, she married Joseph Henry Kolkmeyer of Glandorf, who preceded her in death. Survivors include a brother, Donald J. Girard of San Juan, Puerto Rico; a sister, Claire Girard Lynch of Las Vegas; two nephews, Gregory D. Girard of Boston and John (Rita) Girard of Decatur, Ind.; two nieces, Maxine Grimm and Mary Alice Pruitt of Decatur; a great-niece, Suzette (Bob) Prchal of Fort Wayne; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Kolkmeyer was a superior amateur tennis player in Ohio and Michigan. She was also a talented landscape and seascape oil painter. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Orians Funeral Home, the Rev. Thomas Gorman officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials are to Mass offerings.

Norman L. Tuttle
Oct. 13, 1938 - Dec. 23, 2004
Norman L. Tuttle, 66, of Centerville, died Thursday at Kettering Medical Center after a brief bout with cancer. He was born Oct. 13, 1938 in Cleveland, to William and Florence (Battles) Tuttle. He married Margaret Thompson, who survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Kimberly (Robert) Tuttle Liston-Lake of Oakwood and Deborah (Allen) Nelson of Columbus; two brothers, Gerald (Alene) Tuttle of Mentor and Henry (Carol) Tuttle of Madison; two sisters-in-law, Kathryn Thompson Ulrich and Nelldene Thompson Babcock; a brother-in-law, Edward (Kathryn) Ulrich of Delphos; eight nephews, David Tuttle, Tom (Alene) Tuttle, Steve (Martha) Tuttle, Adam Tuttle, Steven (Michelle) Babcock and Matthew, Andrew and Scott Ulrich; a niece, Lori Babcock Hicks; a grandson, Jonathan Liston of Oakwood; and one on the way, Joshua Nelson, due in mid-January; and a host of other extended family members and friends. Mr. Tuttle retired from Delphi Automotive in March 2003 after 20 years of service. He was a 1961 graduate of Ohio State University with a bachelor of science in industrial engineering and earned a master's in business administration from Western Michigan University in 1971. He was a member of Normandy United Methodist Church, where he was a dedicated volunteer. He was also a member of the Greenwood Masonic Lodge 91, a 32nd degree member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite-Valley of Dayton, former board member of the Hope Assembly 133 International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, Belmont Chapter 555 Order of Eastern Star and a beloved volunteer tutor with the After School Program at St. Paul United Methodist Church, where he also served as Santa Claus for over 10 years. He enjoyed traveling with family and friends and was especially fond of the warmth in Florida. He lived life to the fullest and will be remember for his sense of humor and positive outlook on life. He credited his church and his experience on the Walk to Emmaus with renewing his faith in Christ. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Normandy United Methodist Church, 450 W. Melvin William Wreede, 72, of Delphos, died at 7:13 p.m. Thursday at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born Feb. 27, 1932 in Delphos, to Richard and Mary (Ludwig) Wreede. On March 21, 1958, he married Patricia Knopp, who survives in Delphos. Other survivors include two daughters, Dina Wreede of Boston, Mass., and Pamela (James) Vogt of Spencerville; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, Eugene and Paul Wreede; and a sister, Betty Wreede. Mr. Wreede worked part-time with Bruce Wollenhaupt doing sheet metal work. He previously worked with sheet metal at Superior Coach in Lima. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Delphos, and enjoyed fishing, gardening and carpentry. Dennis J. Wiechart, 47, of Spencerville, died at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday at Roselawn Manor Nursing Home, Spencerville. He was born June 30, 1957 in Lima, to James D. and Betty Irene (Laman) Wiechart, who survive in Spencerville. Other survivors include a son, Erik J. Wiechart of Spencerville; a brother, Randy E. (Vicki) Wiechart of Celina; a sister, Diane L. (Joe) Roberts of Spencerville; a sister-in-law, Cindy Wiechart of Spencerville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry D. Wiechart. Mr. Wiechart had been employed as an auto body finisher, formerly at Bob Grear's Custom Auto and Body Shop and Jim William's Body Shop in Spencerville, and Clark Ford Sales in Wapakoneta. He was a member of Northwestern Ohio Field and Stream Association in Spencerville and was an avid fisherman and enjoyed auto racing and billiards. Darrell W. Franks, 85, of Van Wert, died at 1:23 p.m. Friday at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was born April 24, 1919, in Petroleum, Ind., to Harvey and Mabel (Crain) Franks. On May 13, 1945, he married Patricia J. Graham, who survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Jeanne (Ed) Hammond of Kinston, N.C., Jacalyn (Bob) Carrick of Cleveland and Jann (Dan) Sheeran of Middle Point; a sister, Ruth Franks of Bluffton, Ind.; nine grandchildren: Jeremy Hammond; Megan Catherine, Robert and Jane Carrick; and Shannon, Jordan, Taylor and Logan Markward; and one great-grandchild, Emma Hammond. He was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Stevens. Mr. Franks was a retired business teacher, principal, basketball coach and superintendent, teaching two years at Mendon Schools and 32 years for Hoaglin Jackson Township and Lincolnview High schools. He was a life member of the Van Wert Elks and a member of the Ohio Retired Teachers' Association. He was an avid polka dancer. Jane Koty
Jane Koty, 83, of Foster City, Calif., formerly of Ottoville, died Monday at St. Rita's Hospital after suffering a stroke the day after Thanksgiving while visiting family in Ottoville. She was born in 1921 to Alex and Jennie (Gast) Miller. She married Walter Koty, who died in 1990. Survivors include three children, Bruce Koty of Foster City, Nanette (Jeff) Flynn of Seattle, and William (Mary) Koty of Vancouver, B.C.; two sisters, Irene Miller of Ottoville and Ruth (Emmett) Ratterman of Louisville; a brother, Alex 'Bud' (Mary Lou) Miller of Ottoville; and three grandchildren, Jasmine and Alexander Koty and Nicholas Kerkhoff. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Joseph, and a son-in-law, Steven Kerkhoff. Mrs. Koty was a 1939 graduate of Ottoville High School and a 1943 graduate of Mount St. Joseph College with a bachelor of fine arts. A devout Catholic, Koty was a founding and active member of St. Luke Catholic Church in Foster City for 34 years. An ardent traveler, she followed her passions far and wide, frequently traveling with her two sisters. He was born on the family farm in Spencer Township, Allen County, to Hugh Franklin and Minnie Mary (Lauer) Wolford. On June 20, 1936, he married Emma Rigdon, who survives at Vancrest. She married Francis M. Macwhinney, who preceded her in death. Survivors include four sons, Deane Macwhinney of Spencerville, Don (Nedra) Macwhinney of Delphos, Dave (Kathy) Macwhinney of Celina and Lee (Linda) Macwhinney of Lima; a daughter, Kay Best of Delphos; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. Mrs. Macwhinney was a homemaker and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. On Sept. 14, 1946, she married Alfred C. Honigford, who survives in Ottoville. Survivors also include five children, A. John (Pam) Honigford of Griffin, Ga., David (Diane) Honigford of Grove City, Daniel (Ruth) Honigford and Jeffrey (Pam) Honigford of Ottoville and Rebecca (Jeff) Hall of Marietta, Ga.; four siblings, Robert (Betty) Prine and William Prine of Delphos, Jack Prine of Oakwood, and Norma Moore of Grover Hill; two sisters-in-law: Rose (Hank) Wegesin of Delphos and Anna Marie Kahle of Glandorf; two brothers-in-law: Roger Honigford of Leipsic and Walter 'Butch' (Paulette) Honigford of Delphos; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lorraine Carder and Twila Ball; four brothers, Hershel, Richard, Melvin and Larry Prine; and two brothers-in-law: Urban 'Bud' Honigford and Victor Honigford. Robert A. Bohnlein, 77, of Ashland, and Albuquerque, N.M., died Wednesday at Ashland Samaritan Hospital. He was born Nov. 30, 1927 in Delphos, to John and Mary (Friedrich) Bohnlein. He married Idela M. Williams, who survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Debbie Bohnlein of Paducah, Ky., Patricia Lindecamp of Ashland and Bettie Scott of Orrville; a son, Dennis Bohnlein of Centreville, Va; two brothers, George (Betty) Bohnlein of Delphos and John (Bea) Bohnlein of LaGrange, Ky.; three sisters, Agnes Bohnlein and Gerry Brandehoff of Delphos, and Mary Backus of Howell, Mich.; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Mr. Bohnlein retired from Mansfield Lahm Airport where he was an air traffic controller. He was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church, the American Legion and A.A.R.P. While in Albuquerque, he volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a 1945 graduate of St. John's High School. Funeral services were held Friday at Wappner Funeral Directors, Ashland, the Deacon James Kaniecki officiating. On Oct. 11, 1952, she married Gerald J. Youngpeter, who survives in Fort Jennings. Other survivors include a son, Ralph Youngpeter of Fort Jennings; three daughters, Marilyn (Daniel) Friemoth of Fort Jennings and Linda Youngpeter and Tina (Richard) McCain of Hicksville; seven sisters, Margaret (Roman) Eickholt and Joan (Richard) Siemet of Ottawa, Rosemary Clementz of Kalida, Lucille Schroeder of Glandorf, Agnes Ulm of Delphos and Jean (Norbert) Boecker and Mary Ann (Bob) Kaple of Ottoville; two brothers, Hubert (Joyce) Wehri and Cletus (Delores) Wehri of Kalida; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Edward F. Clark, 83, of Delphos, died at 10:20 a.m. Sunday at Sarah Jane Living Center. He was born May 10, 1921, in Delaware, to Daniel J. and Lillian C. (Holdgreve) Clark. On Feb. 10, 1945, he married Helen Swick, who survives in Delphos. Other survivors include seven children, Pam (Rick) Hanser, Mike (Marty) Clark, Steve (Sue) Clark, Joe (Niki) Clark, Ed (Donna) Clark and Nick (Elise) Clark of Delphos and Phil (Deb) Clark of Cincinnati; four brothers, James (Jeanne) Clark of Delphos, William (Maureen) Clark of Lima, Daniel (Coleen) Clark of Van Wert and Ted (Sandy) Clark of Dayton; a sister, Mary (Jim) O'Neil of Dunbridge; a sister-in-law, Marge Clark of Delphos; 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Clark; two brothers, Robert and John Clark; and a grandson, Kyle Clark. Mr. Clark was an attorney. He retired in 1999 from the offices of Shenk, Clark, Waldick and Clark. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where he served on several boards, including school board. He was also a long-time lector. He was an Army captain and veteran of World War II. He was a drummer for several area bands, including the Hayden Snyder Band and Ray Coleson Orchestra. He was a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, the Kiwanis Club and the Delphos Country Club. He was also a member of American Legion Post 268, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3035 and the Lima Federation of Musicians. Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Revs. Pat Hanser and Thomas Gorman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with graveside military rites conducted by the Delphos Veterans Council. He was born Dec. 6, 1928, in Firebrick, to Allie and Thelma (Leonard) Barnhart Sr. On Dec. 9, 1949, he married Rita Coakley, who survives in Elida. Other survivors include a son, Edward (Robbin) Barnhart of Elida; five sisters, Ellen (Ed) Grimes, Karen (Dennis) Stout, Janet (Don) Risley and Betty Jewel of Van Wert and Rosalie (Art) Miller of Defiance; and four brothers, Harrell (Alice) Barnhart, Delbert Barnhart, William (Evelyn) Barnhart and James (Carol) Barnhart of Van Wert. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Arbadella Coressel, Loretta Roder and Ceola Shindledecker; and a brother, Bob Barnhart. Mr. Barnhart retired from Sonoco Products in Van Wert in 1991 after 47 years. He attended True Word Tabernacle in Bluffton and was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Delphos. He enjoyed traveling and fellowship with the good ol' boys at Jim's Restaurant. He was an Army veteran, serving for three years during the Korean War. Loretta S. Combs, 95, of Cloverdale, died at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Paradise Oaks Nursing Home, Cloverdale. She was born July 23, 1909, on a farm in Mandale, to Frank and Ethel S. (Carpenter) Schisler. On Sept. 25, 1929 she married Charles Combs, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Schisler. Mrs. Combs worked at Westinghouse in Lima and the Cigar Factory in Delphos. She was very active at Mandale Church and was treasurer for the last 30 years. Paul G. Regedanz, 47, of Spencerville, died at 11:10 a.m. Monday in Shenandoah, near Mansfield, following a sudden illness. He was born May 12, 1957, in Lima, to Harry C. and Margaret E. (Koenig) Regedanz. On June 30, 1984, he married Debra Sue Fairburn, who survives. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at Thomas E. Franklin D. Conley
Nov. 12, 1923 - Dec. 9, 2004
Franklin Delano Conley, 72, of Lima, died at 3:33 p.m. Thursday at Lost Creek Care Center. He was born Nov. 12, 1932, in Detroit, to Ivan Ross and Gladys Ivan (Robinson) Conley. On May 3, 1962, he married Colene Prine. His former wife, now Colene Davidson, survives in Delphos. Other survivors include a son, Randy (Angie) Conley of Lima; and two stepgrandchildren, Cory Snider and Ryan Snider. Mr. Conley was a U.S. veteran of the Korean conflict and a member of the Delphos Eagles Lodge. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 of Lima will conduct burial rites at 1 p.m. Monday at Siferd Funeral Home, Lima. The body will be cremated and there is no visitation. Preferred memorials are to the American Cancer Society.

Joseph Schabbing
Sept. 24, 1942 - Dec. 10, 2004
Joseph Schabbing, 62, of Delphos, died at 9:05 a.m. Friday at his residence. He was born Sept. 24, 1942, in Delphos, to George and Beulah (Davis) Schabbing, who preceded him in death. Survivors include two sisters, Shirley (Milton) Parsons and Lois (Orland) Schlatman of Delphos; and a half brother, John (Barb) Davis of Florida. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter and a brother, George Schabbing. Mr. Schabbing retired from T&R Wood after nine years. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home, the Rev. Robert Ladd officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. James C. Clayton

James C. 'Jim' Clayton, 64, of Spencerville, died at 8:40 a.m. Friday in Wapakoneta. He was born Aug. 21, 1940, in Earl, Ark., to Clyde and Nellie (Andrews) Clayton. They are deceased. On Dec. 31, 1966, he married Carrie Barker, who survives in Wapakoneta. There is no funeral service. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the home of his daughter, Tina Clayton, 708 W. Burton McGough Palmer

Burton McGough Palmer, 87, of Perrysburg, died at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday at the Manor at Perrysburg. He was born Jan. 4, 1917, in Van Wert, to Gale Watson and Adeline (McGough) Palmer. In July 1939 he married Grace L. Reed, who died December 1968. He then married Dorothy Palmer in February 1970. She died in August 1999. Survivors include four sons, Bruce (Stella) Palmer of Lexington, Ky., Gene (Diane) Palmer of Perrysburg, Rex (Cindy) Palmer of Maumee and Dudley (Katie) Palmer of Whitefish Bay, Wis.; two stepdaughters, Ruthanne (Mark) Sweeney of Toledo and Molly Palmer of Roslyn, Wash.; two sisters, Dorothy (Gordon) Jones of Napa, Calif., and Katherine (Joe) Snider of Seneca, S.C.; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Roger Palmer; and a brother, Carl B. Palmer. Mr. Palmer retired from Owens Corning Fiberglass in 1980 after 39 years of service as an electrical engineer. He was a lifetime Mason in Hanover, Ohio Lodge 0338, the 1935 valedictorian of Hoaglin Jackson High School in Van Wert County and a 1940 graduate of Ohio State University. A memorial service will be held at a later date. There is no visitation. Cowan and Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, is in charge of arrangements.

Adam Lee Eickholt

Adam Lee Eickholt, 18, of Cloverdale, died Wednesday morning at his residence. He was born April 18, 1986 to Terry L. and Stacy (Edwards) Eickholt, who survive in Cloverdale. Survivors also include a sister, Missy (Troy) Wenzlick of Fort Jennings; two brothers, Erik and Tony Eickholt of Cloverdale; a nephew, Rudy Wenzlick of Fort Jennings; a niece, Kianna Wenzlick of Fort Jennings; paternal grandfather Roman (Margaret) Eickholt of Cloverdale; a girlfriend, Amber Erhart of Kalida; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by paternal grandmother Agnes Eickholt and maternal grandparents Mary Jean and Charles Edwards. Eickholt worked for Al Miller Contracting Group and attended the University of Northwest Ohio, majoring in HVAC and was on the dean's list. He was a 2004
graduate of Ottoville High School, where he enjoyed industrial technologies. He played varsity soccer, basketball and baseball, earning PCL honors for soccer in 2002. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ottoville. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was always there for his many friends, and they all knew he would do anything for them. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, the Rev. Tony Borgia officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Ottoville. Elizabeth 'Betty' Ann Wiechart, 81, of Delphos, died at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Rita's Medical Center. She was born Nov. 1, 1923, in New Cleveland, to Lucas and Amelia (Siebeneck) Stoepfel. On Jan. 29, 1949, she married Bernard Wiechart, who preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, Roger Wiechart of Delphos; and two sisters, Rita Knoll and Margaret Butler of Leipsic. She was preceded in death by a sister, Lauretta Stoepfel; and six brothers, Victor, Raymond, Felix, Cletus, Dick and Thomas Stoepfel. Mrs. Wiechart was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. Karen M. Stocklin, 56, of Delphos, died at 1 p.m. Saturday at her residence. She was born July 18, 1948, in Lima, to Norman E. and Margaret E. (Pohl) Powell. Her mother survives in Delphos. On Nov. 19, 1966, she married Curtis R. Stocklin, who died Jan. 10, 1969. She was a long-time companion of Jim Suever. Survivors include a daughter, Dawn (Terry) Pohlman of Delphos; six sisters, Marge (Bill) Robinson of Exeter, Calif., Patricia Rittger of Houston, Texas, Theresa (John) Menke of Middle Point, Deb (Tim) Maag and Lisa (Bruce) Bendele of Ottoville and Cheri (Mike) Placke of Van Wert; three brothers, Tom (Lynn) Powell of Powell, Michael Powell of Columbus and Jeff Powell of Elida; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews; and three grandchildren. Mrs. Stocklin was a homemaker and a wonderful friend to many. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Reyes Syndrome Foundation. Pauline Rentz, 91, of Lima, died at 5:26 a.m. Friday at her residence. She was born Jan. 20, 1913, in Prospect, to Peter and Bessie (Knecht) Schlegel. On June 18, 1938, she married Frederick William Rentz, who died Sept. 13, 1979. Survivors include two sons, Dr. F. Peter (Mary) Rentz of Pittsfield, Mass., and Dr. David J. (Kathryn) Rentz of Cincinnati; a daughter, Susan (Lowell) Flickinger of Prince George, Va.; two sisters, Katherine Moran of Strongsville and Margaret Cain of Russells Point; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Rentz Cunningham of St. Louis; several nieces and nephews; and seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Ann Louise Rentz. Mrs. Rentz was a retired teacher and homemaker. She was a 1934 graduate of Wittenberg University and taught at Chagrin Falls Schools for three years. She was a member of West Elm United Church of Christ and its Willing Workers and Women's Fellowship. She was also a member of the American Association of University Women, the Alturian Club and a volunteer for the American Heart Association. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, the Rev. Elaine Mikesell officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima. Jeremy E. Spicer, 21, of Lima, died at 5:18 p.m. Sunday at his residence after a courageous 13-month battle with leukemia. He was born Sept. 30, 1983, in Lima, to Richard K. and Marilyn R. (Gerker) Spicer, who survive in Lima. Survivors also include a half brother, Michael S. Spicer; a sister, Kelly M. Spicer at home; and maternal grandmother Esther Gerker. He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather Mellitus Gerker; and paternal grandparents, Charles and Dorothy Spicer. Mr. Spicer worked at Kohl's Department Store and was a student assistant at Ohio State University, Lima, where he was also enrolled. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church and a Lima Life Teen member. He was a 2002 graduate of Lima Central Catholic High School, where he was in cross country, track and the bowling team. He enjoyed video games, fishing drawing and his dog, Missy. Mass of Christian burial will begin at 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Charles Catholic Church, the Revs. Stephen Blum and Dean Mathewson officiating. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery.
